Same here...DTG, OfficeSuite, Polaris Office, Quickoffice Pro....none of these seem to support drop down menus. If you happen to find one in the future, please post it. I have also been searching.

Google Docs online has drop downs. It's alright, but it's free and the huge bonus is your worksheets are online.
You probably already know this, but Office doesn't use drop downs anymore. They have replaced them with browser like tabs. So instead of a menu, an entire page appears. Great improvement IMO. I would think others will follow their lead.

I think you have confused what the OP is asking about with the menu ui in excel.

Look at the e-Droid-Cell Pro application from google play store. This Android application does display DDL (drop down lists) in Excel spreadsheets...
I think the app is called cloudon. Its an actual Microsoft office suite but the catch is the its cloud based and can only use it while connected to the net. Also only other downside is that files need to be saved to a cloud service like Google drive, box, or dropbox. Its basically an online server that only run official Microsoft and can be a little hard to navigate now and again but it does the job for really specific operations and its free an only for tablets

Look for eDroidCell Pro in Google Play. This app does support DDL in Excel 2003 format. DDL creation is done with Microsoft Excel and then save the file as 2003 format (.xls instead of .xlsx file extension)... The dev is also giving great support!

cab downloads, but install is unsuccessful no matter if its from the storage card or device
It seems to install and work ok for me from my storage card. FWIW I'm running ROM 1.35.255.2.

I liked Windows Live Search a lot, but mainly because it just plain worked. The java midlet version of GMM was instable if it would even work at all. Google just works better. It also allows you to look up contacts and use them in your searches. Windows Live Search doesn't have that option. I'm sure future versions of Windows Live Search will up the ante and Google will, in turn, raise the bar even higher. Yay for competition.
FYI, I'm also running the SA 1.35 ROM and it installed without any issues. I just went to www.google.com/gmm and opened/ran the installer from there.

Same rom, but no success, "cab installation unsuccessfull" message, even tryng to close ALL active processes
archive corrupted!
Install and all worked fine for me this morning. Maybe save it somewhere first... then try the install? (That's the method that worked for me.)
worked for me too
what about google talk for mobile ???
download the cab on ur PC, active sync and move it to your phone. Their OTA download is messed up.
I tried it a couple times and noticed the file sizes were different. the cab file should be approx 607k. I kept getting 300k when I was getting it over the air directly to my phone.
I went to www.google.com/gmm on my pc, got the wm5 version cab, put it on my phone and installed from my phone just fine.
It doesn't have hybrid map view (streets on the aerial pictures) which Live search has. Actually, live search feels a bit better to me still.
works fine copying the cab over for me on the Vario II, pretty neat.

I cant get my Bluetooth GPS to work. After i hit track with GPS, it errors out and brings up some help file and talks about editing settings in the control panel if you have a BT gps, but i have no idea what its talking about.
what the heck. There's no detail at all for Japan, although google maps has the detail and so does the midlet version.
The midlet, however, can't do searches in Japanese which is why I was glad to try out this new thing.
wow, what a great app. i already used the java midlet before but that didn't work so good. this one does! even the satelite view is quite quick via umts!
the install was ok in one try. i used iexplorer on my tytn and went to the link www.google.com/gmm there i installed the cab file.

Same here, works a treat.
I'm looking for a good feed reader application that supports wvga and allows me to view pictures (webcomics) and flash content (if possible, optional) inside the flash player. The RSS reader that is installed shows only text. Anyone who can point me in the right direction?
try spb online or spb insight
Newsbreak, pRSSReader, Egress - all these can download pictures as well, none support flash I think
I use google reader iphone version on iris browser. works like a charm though it doesn't support flash.
maybe combining reader + opera + flashlite should work...
I use BeyondPod for my feeds and podcasts. Don't know if it can do flash though.
Thanks for the all the replies people. Here's some results:
SPB Insight: First of all, it's paid, I prefer not to pay for such a trivial app. Second, it didn't look the way I like my feedreader to look.
Newsbreak: Won't install on X1, keeps returning an "installation unsuccesful" message.
Egress: Won't install on X1, keeps returning an "installation unsuccesful" message.
pRSSReader: Looks like everything I want, but refuses to show pictures - it's the same as the stock RSS reader.
Google Reader: I've never in my life seen such an unintuitive and annoying feed reader. Also, it's online, I want to be able to use it offline as well.
Beyondpod: Review coming soon, can't DL it from opera mobile, the website doesn't correctly load and I don't have access to a PC atm.
does anyone of the mentioned apps have the ability to show feeds on the Today screen?

Newsbreak does indeed work on the x1... was recommended to me by a friend and I have been using it all day... nice little app and does what it says on the tin (plus a bit more).... would recommend this one... would also like to try egress too as have heard its pretty good... btw Newsbreak utilises the whole screen... and it has a today screen plugin which is pretty good... and handy...
Does anyone know how often SPB Insight updates/download the feeds?
Or do I have to do it manually?
I use this app:

It's Java but has a load of channels to choose from.

After reading on SPB forums, I found out that it doesn't auto-update.
Does anyone know of another app with both a today screen plug-in and auto-updates?
RSS Hub will work with Flash (as long as FlashLight 3.1 is installed). Look hard enough and you can find a cab for that around here.
How about pRSS Reader??

Newsbreak... you can set it to update when you are connected to pc, connected (wireless for eg) and a couple of others as well as never... and it shows on today...
pRSS Reader also shows on Today, just checked.
Thanks guys. Ive just tried 3 different RSS readers and heres what I thought:
* SPB Insight: Looks good, especially with thumbnails on the Today-screen.
- Doesn't have auto-update
* Newsbreak: Works great and has auto-update.
- Doesn't appeal me visually / No thumbnails on today-screen.
* pRSS reader: Works great, has auto-update and shows more info than Newsbreak on the today screen.
- No thumbnails either.
So it came down to either have thumbnails or auto-update, and I went with pRSS reader

Yes. Go to the website you want the feed from, and look at their RSS address (hold the mouse over their RSS-icon).
For example http://icanhascheezburger.com/ has http://feeds.feedburner.com/icanhascheezburger
I've been pulling my hair out (well not really, I have a full head of hair still) trying to find some free software worthy of using on my TP2. Specifics are listed below, any suggestions/opinions are GREATLY appreciated!
1.) I'm wanting a software that I can enter my bank transactions into for my checking account that also has an area where you can enter upcoming bills.
2.) I've been getting some annoying calls that I want to be able to either ignore, hangup on, or something automatically.
3.) Is there an ebay software out there that allows me to search posts, see my account, bid, etc.?
That's really about it. I'm converting from the Android G1 phone and it seems much more difficult for me to find the software I'm looking for with WM6.5.
Bob
1. Check out
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-tag-financ.html
There are lots of programs on there that should work. I'm not sure of the best, maybe someone else can recommend that.
2. There are programs that auto block calls, not sure of any free good ones, but
http://www.spbsoftware.com/pocketpc-software/phonesuite/
Is suppose to be one of the best.
3. Use opera in mobile mode to view m.ebay.com. Otherwise I've had good luck with viewing the regular ebay page in opera as well. It would mostly depend on the speed of your data connection. If you have broadband ebay.com in opera works great.

Can I use SPB Phonesuite even if I have the TouchFlo enabled on my TP2? I never tried it because it looks like it takes over the home page of the phone.

I think so, that is just the today plugin. You would have to access it through the programs menu, but its call filtering should still work

You should try CallFirewall,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307178
it works with on my tp2 with 6.1 and its free.
hope this helps.
1.) Windows mobile comes with excel, so essentially you could make your own excell spreadsheet on your home pc to track your banking transactions and then move it to your phone.
2.)To block calls, you may want to try this.. CallFirewall
3.)Skyfire works okay with ebay, as well as opera.

It's available on the Marketplace. Just do a search on the word "office" and it finds it. (Did for me anyway!)
does it worth it the 2010 Office? Is there big improvements?

As far as I've read on other sites, no. People are slating it for being exactly the same as previous versions. You'd be better checking the microsoft site to see what improvements (if any) are in there.
i've got it installed and it is pretty much the same as the old version, though i'd say scrolling through excel files is easier now but it all still looks the same, apart from the new icons. The only new addition is SharePoint workspace which i haven't really used
ok thanks, i think i will wait for the 2011... or the upgrade of windows m7...
OneNote Mobile was supposed to have been improved in Office Mobile 2010, but the Beta is exactly the same as the 2007 version. Maybe the improvements will appear in the final version.
Does anyone know if 2010 will allow you to edit powerpoint documents? I'd find that really useful.
I have installed the Office Mobile 2010 but when I restart my phone, it crash the services.exe so no choice but to revert back to the old Office Mobile.
Anyone got the same problem also?

As far as I understand that's exactly what it does, although apparently when your main memory is full you can choose whether to remove old apps or install to storage card. Why you can't choose in the first place is beyond me.
That's "What's new" according to MS:
http://www.microsoft.com/Office/2010/en/mobile/default.aspx
As I see it the major inovations are Sharepoint, Outlook and copy/paste across apps.
Office 2010 is practically the same thing as far as I can see. On a mobile phone the main thing that office should do best is document viewing on the go. its not too good for that and unfortunately the iphone is better for viewing. The furthest zoom isn't far enough. The zoom levels are quite far apart and it's not fast or fluid. After that, it should have a function to edit a document. Quite a weak effort imho.
It has threaded view of all emails (not just Exchange) ... similar to sms feature ...
http://www.wmexperts.com/latest-version-outlook-features-threaded-email-messages
I think most of the main updates are around email and will only work with Exchange 2010.

Yes - I tested this and it worked quite well... You select the relevant text box and then you can edit the text in a simple text editor window... It also worked very well on a fairly complex PPTX file (9MB) with lots of text animations.
Hi i bought my wife a samsung galaxy tab 10.1 2014 edition
ive been using it and really lke it
was thinking of getting one me self to replace my laptop as i work offshore and it would be easyer to take away with me for a month at a time
i like the expandable sd card slot so would be able to save all my films etc to it to watch when am away
the thing thats put me off is office apps
while am away i have to send off my timesheets etc
on my timesheet i have a windows word timesheet with a excel spreed sheet on the inbedded in the word document
on my wifes tab i am yet to find a office program that will let me edit my spreadsheet thats embeeded in word
what offices do you,s all use , and what is the best
I use Documents To Go due to its Bluetooth keyboard integration. The spreadsheet is used about 15 or so hours a week with a Bluetooth keyboard. If keyboard integration is not a consideration, Office Suite or the free ones are OK. If you are looking at moderate to heavy usage (me) then consider a Bluetooth keyboard case (I have a Poetic combination). Before settling on an application, consider your usage of a Bluetooth keyboard followed by compatibility.

Documents To Go's Bluetooth implementation is superior to the rest, though it lacks in the bells and whistle department. It works and is stable.

Try Polaris Office 5 for tablet first because it is free (Samsung apps).
Then you can try Office Suite.
Sent from my SM-P605 using Tapatalk
i like office suite the best, but its too expensive for what it is. Kingsoft is a close second for me and it's free. Quickoffice is ok. Polaris is horrible, mostly because it sucks at rendering pptxs from powerpoint. Couldn't comment on the word processor aspect.
I have used all of the above. I like Office Suite the best and I got it for free during one of Amazon's free app of the day. I have seen it there at least twice for free, but if you have to have a good suite try Office Suite 7. King Office is good, but to me, kind of cumbersome to use. Just my opinion...

I have used all of the above as well, specifically OfficeSuite, QuickOffice, Kingsoft Office, Documents to Go, and Polaris. OfficeSuite used to be my favorite until I started having problems editing an Excel worksheet. The formulas were broken and necessary. I started testing all of the office apps with that specific excel (including a few other free office apps that I don't remember) and Kingsoft was the only one that could handle it well. I now only use Kingsoft office and haven't noticed any loss of functionality. It should be noted that I primarily use it for Excel so I can't comment on how it works with PowerPoint or Word. I have viewed PPT files using Kingsoft and that worked well, but did not edit them.
Edited to add documents to go to list of office apps tested.
