Let's lay down rules. - Bravo General

Since the defy developer quarx is helping us fix the only problem we have with our custom roms, it is important that you remember to be patient and don't ask for ETA! Also in the meantime everyone should start making our own roms, not use the defy but our own. We could use defy roms as a base but we should start making our own custom versions of cm7 and miui and etc.

I really hope we get it soon.
My bravo is damaged now, LCD screen is not working, Im going to receive my next BRAVO next week, then I'll buy a LCD screen for the damaged one.
ICS can wait... well not for too long, ICS is great!!
But now CM7 is for us.
I'd like to make it an OFFICIAL CM7 NIGHTLY BUILD also.

Lol, I have an Atrix but I've been using the Bravo for like 2 weeks straight now. It's such an addicting phone. And idk I like stock cm7 and stock miui...

You are right, both roms are great, but I'd like we have Gingerblur completly working.
I like the way it looks!
Did you test CM7 with working camera?

[Q] Continuing MIUI without trip?

As im sure many of you know that trip left x10 to get a new device bc he got pissed. But his ROMs were amazing no doubt, but couldnt someone use his base and pick up where he left off? Yes im aware other devs have some miui ROMs, but im talking specifically trips base. Im sure plenty of people including myself have his latest download on their computer before he took them off.. just a suggestion and not trying to piss anyone off.

i can only see one thing...camera. all the rest could be developed by almost everyone
I don't see the point in developing from Trip's base.
The one advantage Trip had over the other MIUI devs was camcorder. Other than that, his and Rdanarr's are almost exactly the same. In fact, I find rdannar's ROM faster than Trip's GB rom was...
In about 2 months Camera/camcorder will come to the X10 thanks to SE, so that'll be fixed too.
In short, Trip's base not at all too different from all the other MIUI ROM's base
I tried miui for a week or so but ended up going back to J's cm7 Tom. Once cm7 is fully complete and stable it will be a great base for all other YB Tom's - especially because everything is built from source.

cm7 has along way to go to in order to be compared with trip's gingerbread rom.
there is no other gb rom as stable as trip's

looks like we won't be getting gingerbread

Well bravo users I looked at the phones at&t is upgrading to 2.3 and we aren't on there. I think it's terrible that the LG phoniex and the pantech crossover ( both with 600 MHz proccessors and 3mp camera) are getting the update. We have to develop a gingerbread rom that is in full working condition.
that could change since motorola got bought by google.
Still unlikely. They will still be their own group and treated as a licensee, which means all that will happen is they get Android code faster then others.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
Well the defy is getting it. The bravo and defy are almost equal
Sent from my MB520 using XDA App
No im not sure the defy is getting the update im pretty sure its just the defy plus also why would you want stock bravo gingerbread with MOTOBLUR?? It just slows the phone down and is really annoying
Sent from my MB520 using XDA App
You've got a point. But still we don't have a fully working port of any gingerbread rom and I've heard the new blur interface is really cool.
Sent from my MB520 using XDA App
Because then you can port the camera
Sent from my MB520 using XDA App
hey rdannar have you tried porting the blurcamera.apk from stock 2.2?
we've tried any variation of files we can think of frmo the stock rom and they just won't work with gingerbread because the error is in the kernel compilation
The kernel we're using for the CM7 rom is compiled for the Defy(Jordan) and we need one compiled for the Bravo(Kobe) which is why people were waiting for the gingerbread official update....
When that update is(would have been) launched, the manufacturer is required to post the kernel source... which we could use to fix our cameras...
the only real solution I can think of no ones willing to do; compare 2.2 source code to cm7(2.3.5) source code... it's going to have far to many variations to just pick out the camera segments....
so does that mean your saying we are never going to get a camera fix?? i mean there are TONS of phones that don't have a gingerbread update but do have miui or cm7 so im pretty sure it's possible right?? it's probably a hassle which is why most people dont want to do it like you said, but how long would it really take to port the bravo's camera using stock froyo to miui or gingerbread???
As the one person said it all deals with source code. It takes someone who knows how to code. Right now we don't have someone who does that is willing/has time to do it.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
Well... maybe we'll never get the camera working

Yeah, take the camera module out of your phone and cell it for spare parts on ebay.
i hope one day we get gingerbread though. theres a new motoblur?
haha i was surprised this phone even got froyo, every person i talked to at at&t said it wouldn't. Then again they also said the captivate was stuck on 2.1. Still, there's no way gingerbread is gonna happen. If it does i will be once again pleasantly surprised.

passing on my n1 to my wife..

I've had my N1 for 2 years now and it's time to move on.
I rooted and plagued it with custom roms, however, since my wife is not tech savvy and want to install a stable, easy rom to use.
Should I revert back to total stock or CM7.1 stable?
Suggestions?
There are quite a few rock stable ROMs out now, its going to be a matter of what you think she'll enjoy.
Stock ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312540 )
SuperOSR ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195656 )
OxygeN1mod ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1214543 )
CM7 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297542 )
"Stock" MIUI ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117708 )
OMN1GB ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336059 )
Hope that helps man
Its pretty big of you to give your N1 to your wife, I told my wife when I retire mine, its going in a safe place in the closet LOL.
that's great man, thanks!
probably i'll go with stock....
Yeah after 2 years of custom ROMs I've returned to stock and I'm actually quite happy with it, nice and stable and I don't actually miss any of the root features (yet)
Cheers
My gf loves miui as i do myself. Im gonna bet she would enjoy miui the best.

I had CM7, although my phone for the last 6 months was plagued with the call delay issue (I know it was unrelated to CM7). I finally got round to going back to stock and now I have no issues with call delay, and to be honest I can't be bothered going back ;-)

I second MIUI as the ROM of choice for Nexus. This is the most functional ROM for Nexus as it comes, without sacrificing speed. Stock lacks way too many useful things, starting with a decent dialer.
CM7
For me CM7 would be the best choice, then stock!
Let me make it easy on you...
Put it back to stock.
Then when she messes it up or something doesn't work she can't blame your modding.
Save yourself the agony.

and also I just flash it like I normally do with CM7? ie. just reboot into recovery, wipe, flash. and would I also have to flash the gapps like I do with CM7?
Or you could install stock ICS. Looks like it'll be fairly stable and feature-complete in a week or so!

[Q] CM9 and the Glacier

So I take it that CM9 will not be officially released for the Glacier correct? The only alternatives are the kangs that other developers grab and tweak for use on our device correct? The development section seems to be a swirling mass of ports and <insert name here>'s ICS.
How do we sort through this?
What is everyone's recommendation for a ROM nowadays.
Is ICS just a fabled dream for this unit?
Would I be better to stick with the latest CM7 nightly instead?
What do you think?
We have devs working on cm9 right now, check dev section.

alternative to cm9
Have you tried Zipps Creamed Glacier? This is a serious piece of ics work. I've tried others including cm9 which I enjoyed but has bugs and creamed glacier is the best of all for me. Hardly any issues, smooth as silk and regular updated. Give it a try.
+1 to trofmoc. Last week, I installed zips creamed glacier (he took over and built his own creamed glacier), and it was really stable. 3.10 had a couple bugs which were fixed in 3.11 today. Good stuff.
ICS for Glacier (MT4G)
I'm a total n00b when it comes to ROMs but my phone was almost bricked by Sense until I rooted it and began having lots of fun with mods.
There's an alpha for CM9, but I've flashed Creamed Glacier (Zipsnet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555574) which was really good and was about to try IceColdSandwich by blackwing182 (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551456) when I saw a cool hybrid of the two that has been working really well. It was put together by I2IEAILiiTY but he's pulled the dl down due to some "drama." I have the .zip file, but I don't want to cause trouble by posting it. Here's his thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563576.
As a note, some people have been experiencing a low-mic issue (so I've gathered) and the fix appears to be this by user lincore: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=531.
Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions people. I tried creamed glacier I think a couple months ago I wanna say and it was highly experimental at the time. I like cutting edge, but extreme cutting edge as in the camera doesn't work, wifi doesn't work, etc....is just too hardcore for me. I'm going to give Zips a shot and see how it is now.
BTW I didn't mean to sound whiny about the large amounts of stuff in the dev section, it can just be overwhelming sometimes to sort through whos working on what and where it came from you know. What stage of dev it is in, etc. We almost need some sort of trending mechanism to XDA, unless of course there already is one and I don't know about it.
I don't think you sounded whiney. It sucks when the manufacturer and carrier basically drop development for a relatively new device. I totally feel your pain.
As far as ICS on the Glacier goes, I think we're stuck with alpha and beta releases for now. The devs I referenced have been great with new releases and fixes tho. I was using royal ginger, which was good, but I'm loving the hybrid I mentioned and so far no camera bugs. I had a market free app purchasing prob but signing out of Google and back in fixed it (props to dev for that fix). I say give it a try after backing up your rom. You can always go back.
Btw, miui is working on an ICS release. I might try it.
I'm loving AOSP ICS however and Apex launcher.

Its pretty simple for me:
Nottachtrix (or any blur rom) if you have a lapdock, and use it.
CM7/9 if you dont.
In my case, i was using CM and other non blur roms, but i bought a lapdock last week, so i came back to blur roms, just for webtop (Geentop2 in my case ).

Just a little FYI, you will find yourself flashing over 20 add-ons to get the rom to work normally if you go with Neutrino. He took out every single thing out of the rom so you are basically getting a naked rom.
I never minded flashing so many things on Neutrino because that was I got exactly what I wanted. Neutrino was the best Gingerbread ROM I used by far.
went with this in the end

Hi, I know this thread is old but im looking at rooting my atrix 4g and want a rom that works with the lapdock properly, do you still recomend this rom or have you found a newer one that works as it should?
cheers Joe
Same here, I've just changed from Windows phone to Android (various reasons) and I have just got myself an Atrix so I can use the lapdock (arriving shortly) and to complete the kit I have the work and play kit on the way also
I have had the Atrix for about a week and I have to admit I am also a little confused as to which is the 'best' rom for lapdock support, from what I read it appears that Webtop only exists in Gingerbread as it does not appear to work in ICS or JB and searching for Webtop roms lists hundreds of results which are very hard to follow.
So for the sake of us Atrix newbs please could someone recommend a good Webtop rom or even list roms with Webtop enabled so we can have a play ourselves?
I want 4.0 or higher, but with all the features working, fingerprint scanner, etc. I don't necessarily want the webtop mode, but is there a 4.0+ rom that has all the features working, not very buggy or slower than 2.3, and when I put it into the lapdock,I want it to just make the screen resolution bigger for android, like a tablet.

Hey MastaGunZ, flashing is really quite easy once you have your Atrix unlocked its a matter of downloading the rom (which is a single zip file) onto your micro-sd and going into the recovery mode.
Use Titanium backup and that takes care of backing up sms, apps and app data Its really easy, trust me
Neutrino is super light and quick.. Can't complain about anything really. Its streamlined as hell
I prefer Neutrino 2.9
Thanks guys, but from what I can see Neutrino roms don't have webtop
