hello guys,
i've in my hands an I9220_EUR (should not be the chinese version). Seems a prototype
the currently firmware is: I9220XXKHA (same for baseband) and CSC I9220OKAKHA
can i flash firmware for the chinese version (to go up Android 2.3.6) or may be an N7000 roms?
thanks!
you prbably wont be able to flash an n7000 from as the device has completely different specs
I'm pretty confident that the GT-I9220 and the GT-N7000 are the same. the GT-I9220 was the code name for the Note before it was officially released. The hardware should be the same.

Yes, you may flash firmware based on the N7000 ROMS. The reason Samsung chose to rename the Note from I9220 to N7000 to categorize Note under a different category rather than the typical smartphone.
It's basically the same hardware, with essentially no difference.
Just flash an official firmware first, and you'll see that your phone will be automatically change model number to N7000.

It do display 1 core too on International version. Thinks it do have with battery saving mode, disable 2nd core when not needed and enable both core when using it.

Trust me, it's essentially the same version with GT-N7000 if yours is based from Europe. Do not flash firmwares from China because they have hardware differences even though they have the same model number.
It's a prototype of the N7000 found on IFA. It's the same processor found on the retail Note. They just decided not to use the model number to differentiate from their other products like S2. S5PC210 is Exynos 4210.
If you want to upgrade firmware, just flash the GT-N7000 firmware. It will work.
Ok but all retail image have also bootloader and modem files inside
If I flash also those files and the hw is different I could brick the device :-\

Can we update SGS2 to 2.3.4 which is meant for nexus s ?
I mean not all in all, but definitely we can Eritrea things & make it fit for SGS2 right ?
Will that be so simple or it's very difficult without source code ?...
Just a noob question, I wanna know the answer pls....
Samsung release their own source codes and to modify Nexus S 2.3.4, it will take lot of effort.. Some Devs are trying to use HTC sense on SGS.. but its not easy

Hi,
I am new to Samsung phones so don't know a lot of the terminology. Can anyone please explain what a .pit file is and what a PDA file is?
I understand the android advices guide, but I do not understand why there is no ext4.pit file in the following link, if it is necessary for the upgrade procedure:
http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9100.htm
So... is it strictly necessary, or is it possible to get by without it?
Many thanks,

They must be releasing it to some sort of schedule, presumably to avoid overloading the servers.

Too bad, it was so useful. It comes with almost all ICS devices why it has to be removed from P6800?
Also, for those who use SMS frequently, backup the message with something other than Titanium before upgrade. Titanium cannot restore the data back because ICS's SMS app is different from HC's.

I grabbed the zipfile off of the link given on Sam Mobile just to make sure I have a copy, but I'd prefer to have the update via an 'official' method vs flashing it myself. Just less chance of something going wrong, IMO.
Hello, i've been hearing about an update in Germany(the one that allows u to move some apps to the external sd card, semi-transparent notification bar, etc). I wanted to know if there is an update for the international unlocked GS4.
Talking about the s-view cover, i'm thinking on buying one but is it worth it? Does it close well? or Should i buy a spigeon neo hybrid case instead?
Thanks you in advance.

MEA is just the last 3 letters of the build number of the firmware. You can check the build number at Settings>About Device. And there are newer firmwares than MEA already

You can think of MEA as a version "number". It's not the last one though but the changes you talk about are from this particular version.
If you have a GT-I9505 I can suggest you this thread if you want a pre-rooted stock rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40710278

Sorry, i should have specified before, my GS4 is the exynox octa core( i9500 ). And i couldnt find the new update for my device yet ):
I have the S-View cover, and it's crap! It looks nice, but it doesn't protect the back and metal edges of your phone from scratches etc. It also get's in the way when you open the front cover, and makes it very difficult to hold your phone properly. I am looking to buy a different Samsung cover. This is the one I have my sights on. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Gal...8-1&keywords=galaxy+s4+case+plus+in+navy+blue It's a genuine Samsung product, and a perfect fit for the phone. It also gives it great protection, it just doesn't look as good as the S-View cover, but that's a small price to pay if it's going to keep your phone well protected!

First impressions !!!
Hi everybody !!
I'm a lucky spanish owner of the P600 and I've installed kitkat this evening !!! I couldn't guess it would arrive so "early" to my country
I can confirm it comes with multiuser !!!! In fact it has two types of users: regular users and restricted users (where you can allow access app by app, very useful with kids).
New UI (apart from notification bar, multiwindow bar, recent apps and settings menu that are completely different not other major changes advised, but I'm using nova launcher).
I can not tell you something about battery life yet as it's too soon.
New gallery, new my files app, new samsung store, samsung link, group play, watchon, peel smart remote, scrapbook and maybe I'm missing something more but not so relevant.
It's absolutely smooth, but I hadn't complains about it in 4.3 as I was using nova launcher and still with few lag in lockscreen (exynos "feature") but much less than before for sure !!!
These are my first impressions. Surely I'm missing something but in general I think is a good update (only by the multiuser feature it is worth it !!).
Hope you find this useful
installed this morning on my SM-P600 . No Problem

Call me boring but I really wanted to wait for the UK version thinking I'd give it a full wipe before installing 4.4. It would save me having to wipe my Note yet again and setup everything from scratch.
Do you think there will be any differences at all between the Spanish & UK version?

There will be NO great differences between the Spanish and the UK verrsion, I suppose.
What I did:
- I had the Dutch, older version.
- I flashed the 4,4 VS KitKat version with Odin. All my own settings and my installed programs remained at my Note 600. I mean: nothing had disappeared.
- But yesterday I downloaded the Spanish version. Before I flashed it with Odin, I cleaned up my Note 600 by doing a full wipe and factory reset. (You can find it at your screen by clicking together the next tree buttons: home, volume up and power for about 15 seconds).
- After that I flashed the Spanish version.
I noticed that the Spanish version is almost the same as the VS KitKat version. That made me suppose that the UK version will be almost the same, too.By the way: later on you can flash the UK version with no problem over the Spanish version: you wil not lose any of four programs and other personal things.
What about warranty? I suppose flashing a different firmware will change my csc so I will lose my warranty... Is that correct?

I'm curious now too. I'm SO fed up or waiting for 4.4 on the UK variant....but I don't want to do it if changing the csc voids the warranty. Surely as it doesn't trip KNOX you can just use ODIN to reflash the original firmware to correct the csc if something goes awry and needs a warranty repair?

Yesterday I flashed the Spain firmware on my Greek note. My csc remained unchanged (EUR).

Flashed the Spanish version on my UK tablet and it seems perfectly fine. Thanks!
Sadly it doesn't work with Towelroot, but that's another matter.
Hey Guys recently I saw that kitkat 4.4.2 is out for the SM-P605 and seriously I don't see any difference between the SM-P605, So just a Question if we can port/flash it to the SM-P605

He means there is no difference in the hardware, so the two ROMs should be compatible.
Sad to see that this didn't work, I got excited for a moment there. I wonder if the ODIN is failing it based on the model number alone? Perhaps it can be fooled into thinking it is the right model.
I'm very sad to see that this is not compatible for our p605

I think is related to a different partition structure and/or a locked bootloader. hope uncle Sam will bring QUICKLY the right version to us...:fingers-crossed:
SM-P605S is Note 10.1 2014 from SK-Telecom(LTE-Advance).
All Korean Version have different bootloader. You may flash AP or CSC but not modem or bootloader.
In this case, since we are still on 4.3 bootloader, we can not flash AP/CSC either.

Oh. Got it. Just got my N10 a couple of weeks ago and haven't learned all the area version numbers yet.

When Samsung announced that the International Version of the S3 would not be getting Kitkat, a bunch of developers ported the Note II 4.4 ROM to that device. I don't see why someone with the right know-how couldn't do the same for us. The problem is, there are very few (perhaps none even) developers for our device.
I guess its rather pointless since the Kitkat ROM must be very close now...

the boot is locked and if we try to change it there is a security code that blocks the device to boot
we need the boot.img (including kernel) for note 2014 LTE and kitkat
that's why

I see. But then how did they do it for the S3 without a Kitkat boot.img?
