4G LTE Xoom's ICS Update Rolling, problems with unlocked/rooted? - Xoom General

Hey guys,
I see Android Central is reporting the update pushing to the 4G Xoom's is infact ICS. Build looks to be IML77. I was wondering if anyone got it yet. Also if it was recieved were you rooted and unlocked.
I had a problem where my HLK75 build would not flash and i was not sure why. might have been a corrupted download or something.
In any case here is the Android Central Article. let me know if anyone has got it and if you are root.unlocked or not
http://www.androidcentral.com/motor...ing-roll-out-now-and-continue-through-weekend

Despite how that article reads, I don't think the ICS soak test is pushing to the LTE Xooms yet.

I've been hearing some people are...
guess we will just have to wait and see.

Really? From where?
I've only seen those with WIFI only Xooms getting it. And even a link to the WIFI Xoom update has been posted... not 4G/LTE Xoom.

Interesting, will be watching this rather closely. Of course I just rooted and flashed the EOS ICS last night, lol! Oh well, so far I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I'm not as blown away by ICS as some of the others but some things are noticeably better (no more typing lag). Not sure I'd bother with the "official" ICS release since I want root and overclock capability.

I will also be watching rather close for it I'm in between zone and eos

Update is for Wifi Xoom.

Yea i retract my previous. Seems to be only wifi. Whoeever said they got it on 4G is either lucky or a big fat phony!!

I was invited to the soak test and I have an LTE Xoom. I was just still too pissed at them for screwing us over for 8 months. I beta tested enough for them. The only thing I want from that company is a finished product. My Xoom works just fine right now so I can wait as long as it takes even if we never get it.

You were invited to the soak or invited to register for it? Far as I know 4g hasn't started yet

Motorola releasing 3.1 update to Wifi users today!!

Hello Xoomers!! Motorola announced that they are releasing Honeycomb 3.1 to Xoom Wifi owners starting today in phases. I believe the updates are based on your MAC addresses on your Xooms, this was what I was told (sources withheld) but I can not confirm this 100%. Anyway, we should start seeing a steady rollout of updates as there have been no issues with the updates with Xoom 3g owners. Please be sure to thank me
Fingers crossed!!
Forgot to mention, the official WIfi only version of 3.1 does NOT contain the Movie tab in the marketplace. No biggie to me, but it will be released sometime later.
I hope this is true bc u have no idea how happy just seeing this post made me lol.
Is ut only the US version of wifi-only that will start to get the update?
How about the European version? Will it start to roll out to us to?
Can only find info that people with the US version have got it. What about we with Eu version,

LOL..I pissed my pants while typing it I was so happy! But yes I have confirmation fro other Wifi owners who have received the update this morning EST. Also there has been official word on the update being released to wifi users. I cant wait to see the popup on my xoom. Remember though, its in phases, so please be patient people. Also, 3.1 does not fix the slowness in auto rotate because this is not a google problem, its an issue with the Xoom models which should be patched soon(again sources withheld) may have something to do with increasing the cache but again Im not 100% sure on this. Good luck!!

FRom what I was informed, it only appears that the US versions will start receiving updates today, there seems to be some confusion on when the Euro and Canadian models will receive the updates...sorry
Got my OTA this morning on my Wi-Fi Xoom in US.
Kinda ticked off that we Wi-Fi people get snubbed out of the Movie app for no reason. Especially when I have a trip this weekend that I was looking forward to using the movie app.
i got my ota update at around 12:30am last night. did a restore to stock and then used power+volup button to reboot and then check updates.

what do you mean snubbed out of the movie app? movie editing or movie watching?
great. seems like you have a lot of info from your sources. so i will ask you this, without providing exact info (dates, time, etc.), are we close to an SD fix? Simple yes or no.

This was not done purposely, looks like their was a "bug" which caused issues with Wifi owners. But I would rather have the update now than to have to wait another few weeks just for the movie tab to be added. Enjoy your 3.1!! I'm told that the auto-rotate issue should be patched also hopefully soon!!

Hey there! yes, the SD issue is NOT Motorola's fault, contrary to what is believed..this is a issue with Honeycomb itself which Google is aware of and will fix. The other tablets that do have the SD card support are using a "work-around" but its not the official fix. From what I "hear" the issue is how Honeycomb sees the SD card, this will be officially fixed soon. I believe that the other tabs will receive an update for the SD card also, as the way it works for them is not "official"

Can anyone provide a reliable link for this? People with wifi have been getting updates randomly for the last couple of days, so I'm not sure this is news. Not that I don't trust unsubstantiated conjecture, but... actually, I don't trust unsubstantiated conjecture.

Another post eslewhere in this forum mentioned that Motorola tech support said that a "fix" (not sure if that means Xoom only temp fix or a permanent fix from Google) for the SD card was finalized and would be pushed at close to the same time as the 3.1 update.

some people say that it gives SD support for Wi-Fi xooms, not verizon xooms. I hope its not true, but if it is, this has to be some major pile of bull**t.

nothing for me either.
I would not worry about it so much. We are all going to have to wait for the devs to work their magics regardless. There will always be an offline method of installation via CWM as usual that is already rooted and has all of that other goodness.
Once the devs take over and get ahold of the OTA zip files, we will see updated versions of their ROMs in no time. They will have the 3.2 features in it with all of their own other custom features/contents. I say... wait for Team Tiamat, they will do their thing. You know it'll be them to do it once again, as almost always. After that, say hello to other iterations of custom 3.2 ROMs, and then updated kernels from all teams that will work on the new 3.2 update. That's my opinion, but I believe it a makes a very good point.
I've got a Wifi Xoom and I got the update too. I tried to restart to install, and got the "exclamation point in a triangle" on boot. I'm rooted with the Tiamat Kernel, so that's probably why it errored out.

BTW, it's "awaited"
Servers are fine. But maybe you are right but are the Test over? Or have they even started? I think they have to Test first then release
Maybe they don't need any more, since the leaked firm from chinese. Now they know what the problems are, and maybe they fixed whats wrong. Since most of Xoom owners jumped to EOS firm, who's gonna need the official. That was a joke, ofcourse we need the official firm

Would be nice to have an official that the EOS guys can grab from instead of having to do the work that Motorola should of done ages ago...
I think something would have leaked to the blogs by now if there was an imminent update...

I did change to EOS but for me its not a daily basis rom so yes , we are waiting for the original update so EOS will plast its goodness on it.
yeah they should speed up the update release. It's quite disappointing since I heard about the Prime ICS release which is said to arrive before the Xoom? oO
The Xoom is a Google experience device like all the Nexus phones. Google is the one that controls the updates. Verizon may hold up the process a bit for the 3G/4g versions, but it is essentially a Google controlled device. One has to wonder what is taking so long, but after hearing about the Transformer Prime update woes I don't mind the little extra wait, unless its another 6 month wait like it was to get the LTE upgrade.

Something Strange Has Happened To My GED WiFi Xoom

For some odd reason I can NOW Move, Delete, Copy, Paste etc. etc. on my SD Card from SDCARDXD. I did NOT sign up for the ICS update. I am NOT Rooted & I am still running Stock. I have NO idea what has happened. Does anyone know what may have happened. I DON'T have EOS ICS. Nothing has changed since the day I bought my GED WiFi Xoom (Day 1).
Right now I am using SDCARDXD and moving Movies from the MNT/External1 Folder to MNT/SDCard/Movies, then Deleting the Movies from External1 I can't believe it. It is Amazing. I have NOT used my Xoom in about a Month because I could NOT do these functions without the use of my PC. I wanted to do it Internally and I decided to pick up my Xoom today and started to play with it and I can do what I could NOT do a Month ago. I am just wondering what HAPPENED?
All I'm going to say is...great! I'm really glad it's working for you, and better late than never!
All I EVER wanted from my GED Xoom was to be able to work on my SD Card Internally WITHOUT Root. That's why I got a GED Pure Android Device
Thanks Bro.

If you wouldn't have been so busy ranting about how terrible the Xoom is, maybe you would have seen this app months ago when gmanapps released it. It was the talk of the town on the Motorola users forum.
As gmanapps has said many times, the API calls are there, but developers are not using them. So he made use of them and wrote the app.
It must suck to not be able to see the forest for the trees.

You know what, you TALK ALOT OF **** and ASSUME wayyyyy too much. I bought GmanApps (SDCARDXD) the day it was released for $1.49. I remember when he released that App and I bought it day 1. I also commented on Nov 7th under (Ghodzilla5150 or BigFame) OH SNAP, LOL At that time he had not put in Delete Mode yet or Move & Paste. He also wrote a long synopsis on why he thought GED was holding BACK US Xoom's and how he thought ICS was NOT going to HELP with the SD Card issue.
Instead of stalking ME, maybe YOU should read the Moto Forum's a little more. He talked about this BEFORE they changed the Forum format. He did NOT want to post his beliefs believing he would get Banned because that's what they do on the Moto Forums. Ban anyone who Negatively speaks ill about their Precious GED Xoom.

Gripe

What is the purpose of owning a nexus device on a cdma network? I am so tired of google and networks in so many ways. I thought the purpose of owning a nexus device was that I would receive update directly from google. I own a nexus 4 g and a motorola zoom lte and have not received an update in over 4 months. I really hope for google sake there is some improvement in the future with updates of nexus devices.

I'm stock rooted still on GB. I'm not into roms necessarily only reason I root is for wifi tether and titanium backup. Or maybe removing or freezing apps but it doesn't matter on a nexus device. Bottom line is that GS2 and vivid GSM models have gotten updates before my nexus. All I'm saying is CDMA networks do not push updates for nexus devices as they should and google obviously can't provide updates in a timely manor for these devices either. This is a problem with google plus the cdma networks.

ahh ok,I can respect that. Much more than all the other threads on here complaining about not getting the update, yours is more based on the CDMA networks which is the source of the problem for what you're referring to.
That's why I came here cdma updates can be few and far between at times.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
There isn't a reason really. With an htc device for example you get aosp like cyanogen plus you get sense if you want it. I had both options on my evo shift. No one really knew the cdma nexus experience didn't really mean **** until recently since this was the first cdma nexus.
The good thing about this is that now i have opened myself up to more options for my next phone like the htc one or gs3 where up until about January i was only ever going to get nexus phones even though they are usually lacking in something like the camera, fm radio, no sd slot or whatever. And it doesn't matter since updates won't cone any faster and the wonderful devs keep us up to date.
the files for the cdma radio are proprietary, google has to wait for the networks to provide them. googles part is done and available. they even came said a few months ago that cdma nexii arent considered developer phones anymore, just for that reason. its the cdma networks that you should let know how you feel.
im on 2.3.7, it aint broke so im in no hurry to fix it. when i get an official update then ill update. i dont see what the big deal is
I am a very happy CDMA Nexus S owner. I've been rocking 4.0.4 on my NS4G since this morning, I'm not sure what people are complaining about. Yes, we all thought that since we have Nexus devices we'd get personal invites from Goog to test out their new OS. Turns out this is not true, stupid us for thinking that. But in the end what's the difference? As soon as the update is in AOSP our awesome devs have it ready for us to crackflash. These complaint threads are getting old, when did XDA turn into Facebook?

Because the purpose of purchasing a nexus is not have to wait for the latest software plus have a pure google experience. If I need to flash software that's been out for 4 months like 4.0.3 this is an obvious fail for the nexus program.

It's more a fail on our part for believing Google's marketing. In the end though, we still have the new OS updates available right away via AOSP. They just don't get pushed to our phones via OTA right away. But this is XDA, who the hell wants to sit around waiting for an OTA??
