Considering Google just posted the GPL- that would seem like a very fast deploy...

It's true!

^^ Yay!
The first device with real TRUE microsd card support from google. I can't wait to give that stretcher thing a try.

we need feed back. those that received it, are you 3g or wifi? is SD enabled. details damn it. lol

Looks like it's only the wifi model... otherwise Verizon would have announced something?

some people say that it gives SD support for Wi-Fi xooms, not verizon xooms. I hope its not true, but if it is, this has to be some major pile of bull**t.

nothing for me either.

I would not worry about it so much. We are all going to have to wait for the devs to work their magics regardless. There will always be an offline method of installation via CWM as usual that is already rooted and has all of that other goodness.
Once the devs take over and get ahold of the OTA zip files, we will see updated versions of their ROMs in no time. They will have the 3.2 features in it with all of their own other custom features/contents. I say... wait for Team Tiamat, they will do their thing. You know it'll be them to do it once again, as almost always. After that, say hello to other iterations of custom 3.2 ROMs, and then updated kernels from all teams that will work on the new 3.2 update. That's my opinion, but I believe it a makes a very good point.

I've got a Wifi Xoom and I got the update too. I tried to restart to install, and got the "exclamation point in a triangle" on boot. I'm rooted with the Tiamat Kernel, so that's probably why it errored out.

OTA Released (Root for manual update) - Flash on Market MAR18 (Leaked)

Motorola XOOM users on the Verizon Wireless network: starting tonight, a maintenance release is rolling out to you in phases, so watch for a notification on your device that will tell you when it’s ready for download. The update includes required enhancements to support Adobe® Flash® Player 10.2 (coming soon); it also includes a fix for a bug we identified with Daylight Savings time, so be sure to install it!

At least this shows how quickly updates will come... I guess.
how will us with wifi only get this?
Any update is good news at this point I think. I wonder if there is any harm in updating, ie will it remove the ability to root and what not? I wish they would provide more details on what exactly the patch does. Also, it clearly says on the Verizon network, what about those not on it and are only on wifi?

MY droid always popped up updates even when I was only on wifi. I imagine we'll all get it or someone will post the update.zip anyway.
I'm curious if the Tegra 2 versions of flash (10.1) floating around will have something to interact with, and start functioning. They have with everything else. As soon as I get the OTA (no 3G), I have a folder full of them in my Dropbox.

Question of the day. No dialer :/
yesssssssssssss
Glad to see an update but there is nothing listed to get excited about except a possible problem with the upcoming daylight savings time switch. Who cares about the flash update since it does not actually include it. But this will be a good test run to see how the updates are sent out and applied.
Cann't wait for the update to start

You can force a check by rebooting. Not the best method, but it works.
Why do unlocked xooms need to get relocked?
I understand why you need to be on stock boot.img but i don't understand why you need to have the device relocked to get the update.
It makes no sense.

According to the system update tab this didn't happen in 3 reboots since the announcement. Still last check at 5:20. Really want to see if any of the 10.1 Tegra versions work after this. I've been frantic to have Flash lately (PlayOn/Netflix).

It might have a minimum time between checkins. Mine said 9:20am, then showed current time for last checkin when I rebooted.
So would it be fair to say that those of us who have rooted should wait until this update is released to see if in fact we really do need to revert back to stock/locked condition? Because I'd really be pissed if we had to lose all of the data on our Xooms just for this update, when very few of us have actually changed anything with the boot.img, etc. I mean back when I first rooted my N1 but before I flashed custom ROMs, I never had to wipe back to stock to receive OTA updates, so why would that be the case here??

Motorola releasing 3.1 update to Wifi users today!!

Hello Xoomers!! Motorola announced that they are releasing Honeycomb 3.1 to Xoom Wifi owners starting today in phases. I believe the updates are based on your MAC addresses on your Xooms, this was what I was told (sources withheld) but I can not confirm this 100%. Anyway, we should start seeing a steady rollout of updates as there have been no issues with the updates with Xoom 3g owners. Please be sure to thank me
Fingers crossed!!
Forgot to mention, the official WIfi only version of 3.1 does NOT contain the Movie tab in the marketplace. No biggie to me, but it will be released sometime later.
I hope this is true bc u have no idea how happy just seeing this post made me lol.
Is ut only the US version of wifi-only that will start to get the update?
How about the European version? Will it start to roll out to us to?
Can only find info that people with the US version have got it. What about we with Eu version,

LOL..I pissed my pants while typing it I was so happy! But yes I have confirmation fro other Wifi owners who have received the update this morning EST. Also there has been official word on the update being released to wifi users. I cant wait to see the popup on my xoom. Remember though, its in phases, so please be patient people. Also, 3.1 does not fix the slowness in auto rotate because this is not a google problem, its an issue with the Xoom models which should be patched soon(again sources withheld) may have something to do with increasing the cache but again Im not 100% sure on this. Good luck!!

Kinda ticked off that we Wi-Fi people get snubbed out of the Movie app for no reason. Especially when I have a trip this weekend that I was looking forward to using the movie app.

This was not done purposely, looks like their was a "bug" which caused issues with Wifi owners. But I would rather have the update now than to have to wait another few weeks just for the movie tab to be added. Enjoy your 3.1!! I'm told that the auto-rotate issue should be patched also hopefully soon!!

Hey there! yes, the SD issue is NOT Motorola's fault, contrary to what is believed..this is a issue with Honeycomb itself which Google is aware of and will fix. The other tablets that do have the SD card support are using a "work-around" but its not the official fix. From what I "hear" the issue is how Honeycomb sees the SD card, this will be officially fixed soon. I believe that the other tabs will receive an update for the SD card also, as the way it works for them is not "official"

Another post eslewhere in this forum mentioned that Motorola tech support said that a "fix" (not sure if that means Xoom only temp fix or a permanent fix from Google) for the SD card was finalized and would be pushed at close to the same time as the 3.1 update.

Has anyone on a MZ601 received the 3.2 update?
I wonder if this will fix the Tiamat 2.2.2 market issue of missing apps?
What build is this?
Can somebody get the link or the zip file for the update please?
I am on a US 3.2 but might have to switch back for this.
There's one good thing about this update, quickoffice HD
considered wiping my xoom and setting it back to the UK 3.2 image - but then thought if i stick it out on the US 3.2 image then i'll probably get ICS 3 months quicker than the UK...

I've got the option to update to this but my MZ604 is rooted using the any update/any version method so dunno if its wise to update or not.
Can anyone clarify if I can apply this update and still be rooted or will it break stuff?
Cheers.
Why on earth do the 3G's (who paid more for their devices too!) get the updates after the standard Xooms? It's a ridiculous situation - it's not as if Moto don't know the difference between the two and can't create the update for both at the same time! GRRRR

Honestly? Xoom = fail
I don't get upgrades on time and most of uk banks charge for all market purchases (£1.25 on top for overseas transactions) - not like there is anything interesting to look for anyway (most of apps look and operate like s..t).
I wanted to buy something else then Apple and I ended up with clunky, laggy, buggy, overpriced (£570) prototype of a tablet. Now value dropped 50% and all truth came out - it's just ipad-wannabe.
(also I barely managed to write down this rant because of stupid keyboard lag...).
ICS? I'm tired of waiting. Google can't even release one simple upgrade on time... I'll wait for iPad 3 instead and I promise you that - I will have it before ICS upgrade. At least Apple is always on time with their stuff.
I know this is for the UK 3.2 but it's looking good for AUS - I really hope this resolves the Tiamat market issue!
Just in from Motorola Australia facebook page
"Hi guys, we know you're all eager to download the latest 3G Xoom 3.2 software for 3G devices. We wanted to provide you with another update on timings. Approvals are still in progress and we hope to be able to push the upgrade within the next week. We appreciate your patience."

I wouldn't be in a rush for 3.2 if I were you - I recieved it over the weekend and lost the ability to write to the SDCard again! It was there in 3.1, gone in 3.2 - SDCard is back to read-only, unless you connect via a PC.
Sure, you get an Office app, and some printing utility etc, but going back to read-only SD cards is a major backward step for me!

Maybe they don't need any more, since the leaked firm from chinese. Now they know what the problems are, and maybe they fixed whats wrong. Since most of Xoom owners jumped to EOS firm, who's gonna need the official. That was a joke, ofcourse we need the official firm

I did change to EOS but for me its not a daily basis rom so yes , we are waiting for the original update so EOS will plast its goodness on it.
yeah they should speed up the update release. It's quite disappointing since I heard about the Prime ICS release which is said to arrive before the Xoom? oO
The Xoom is a Google experience device like all the Nexus phones. Google is the one that controls the updates. Verizon may hold up the process a bit for the 3G/4g versions, but it is essentially a Google controlled device. One has to wonder what is taking so long, but after hearing about the Transformer Prime update woes I don't mind the little extra wait, unless its another 6 month wait like it was to get the LTE upgrade.

4G LTE Xoom's ICS Update Rolling, problems with unlocked/rooted?

Hey guys,
I see Android Central is reporting the update pushing to the 4G Xoom's is infact ICS. Build looks to be IML77. I was wondering if anyone got it yet. Also if it was recieved were you rooted and unlocked.
I had a problem where my HLK75 build would not flash and i was not sure why. might have been a corrupted download or something.
In any case here is the Android Central Article. let me know if anyone has got it and if you are root.unlocked or not
http://www.androidcentral.com/motor...ing-roll-out-now-and-continue-through-weekend
Despite how that article reads, I don't think the ICS soak test is pushing to the LTE Xooms yet.
I've been hearing some people are...
guess we will just have to wait and see.

Really? From where?
I've only seen those with WIFI only Xooms getting it. And even a link to the WIFI Xoom update has been posted... not 4G/LTE Xoom.
Interesting, will be watching this rather closely. Of course I just rooted and flashed the EOS ICS last night, lol! Oh well, so far I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I'm not as blown away by ICS as some of the others but some things are noticeably better (no more typing lag). Not sure I'd bother with the "official" ICS release since I want root and overclock capability.
I will also be watching rather close for it I'm in between zone and eos

Yea i retract my previous. Seems to be only wifi. Whoeever said they got it on 4G is either lucky or a big fat phony!!
I was invited to the soak test and I have an LTE Xoom. I was just still too pissed at them for screwing us over for 8 months. I beta tested enough for them. The only thing I want from that company is a finished product. My Xoom works just fine right now so I can wait as long as it takes even if we never get it.
