I would not sell mine to to replace it with the ATT version. I will wait to see what the ATT version brings to the table. LTE, Battery Life, Bloat etc. Might want to keep my current G Note in the family if I was to get the ATT version.
If anything I might sell my skyrocket! If I had a LTE GNote with better battery life, cannot really see a need for the skyrocket.
I simply got a safeware warranty in the US to cover accidental damage and theft...and a nice leather case to avoid having to use that plan.

Never needed insurance or warranty on over 15 smartphones over a 10 year period.
No AT&T lack of center button (wake) and bloatware + slow updates for me.
International unlocked in a good case is all I need and will go forward with. I wouldn't put it past AT&T to develop some sort of "hybrid" data plan for the Note since it will creep into their tablet sales. No thanks.
Ima switch the imei so they won't know I have a galaxy tab I b using with Att and all I did was switch the imei numbers

Here is a speed test from my skyrocket taken a while back. LTE is FAST! Battery life suffers but even with an unlimited LTE plan, ATT can still throttle your speeds and has done it to those that pass 5GB. Like I said above if I did get the ATT GNote, I would sell my skyrocket. One of each version GNote would be sweet! lol!

I agree. 5 down is plenty fast for anything mobile - slingbox, netflix, streaming music, etc.
LTE is sexy because of speed tests. If you tether and download torrents or .iso's, then I see the point. For the known battery tradeoffs, however, I'm not sold.
If I was on Verizon I'd like it for simultaneous voice/data...but as GSM users, we already have that.
Not one reason why I NEED LTE on a phone since I don't tether.

+1 agree. LTE is a nice to have not a need to have. Luckily we have it in DFW and many cities in Texas have it. I have had it since Nov 6, 2011 and honestly it is not a deal breaker not to have it. I switch between my skyrocket and GNote about weekly and I find myself not wanting to switch from the GNote even though it is HSPA+. Having said that, I believe the battery on the GNote will easily last a day with LTE and having a GNote with LTE could be cool although you would probably stream more and then get throttled lol!

LTE does have worst battery life than HSPA+, no question about that! I will be waiting to see the battery life on the LTE version before doing anything.
I'm jus going with simplicity in my life if mine is lost or stolen Ima call asurion and have mine next day shipping also when u get it from a carrier u can go protect cell for cheap and get unlimited claims for a yr or 2yrs. I have had a experience with these unlocked phones that don't come from a carrier and I jus kno I'm my opinion its easier to jus get it from a carrier also there nothin a extended battery or a custom rom can't fix cause u kno they will have some of those also

I would actually bet money that that is their first LTE phone. They're supposed to be releasing a LTE aka 4G phone this November, this might be it.
I kinda want to go steal me one right now..
Once you get 4g you will never want to be without it. I am getting 3mb - 11mb everywhere and I am amazed at the speed difference in all apps.
This is exactly the evo with a bigger kickstand (which I would love a bigger kickstand, one that can support it in portrait mode would be killer)

Virgin has full coverage here in NYC. I don't talk a lot. I use a lot of text/gtalk. They have 25$ plans. The processor/gpu is the same as the thunderbolt. I was going to wait on the nexus 3 but if the Triumph comes out and someone can get CM on it somehow- I might pick it up.
I know the Triumph (Thunderbolt specs) and the Nexus 3 (supposed quad core) are totally different but for 25 a month- that's very attractive.
I know this place will be pro-Vibrant and most likely pro nexus since its a dev device but if the Triumph can get a 2nd init install of Cm or MIUI- why not?
Thoughts?

I am really tempted to pay my etf and make the switch to VM because the service (virgin mobile which uses Sprint's network) is a lot better then T-mobile's in my area. I've heard the Triumph also is running stock android, so thats a plus. I say go for it, $25 a month is a very good deal and VM has a 30 day returm period, so if you don't like it you can return your phone.

As much as I don't like verizon's phones. They have the fastest mobile network in the US hands down (LTE and not CDMA). Their devices average 12Mbs, and can hit up to 21Mbs. There's really no contest there. T-mo and the others can't do that today.
First, this is my first post in this sub-forum, as I have a fascinate, but I just wanted to point out 2 things about this phone and Virgin Mobile in general:
1. Sprint has wonderful service in my area, better than AT&T and T-Mobile, but not as good as Verizon. I DO know that I am willing to have one less bar and slower data to save $60 a month. Also, I don't travel where Sprint doesn't have service, so roaming is a non-factor to me, although to some people that should be a pretty big point, as VM doesn't roam out of sprint's network (trade offs... pfft)
2.Virgin Mobile's android phones follow a trend, sell the phone for ~ 50% of retail. I'll prove it:
Optimus S $299 | Optimus V $149 and Samsung Transform (Sprint no longer offers the Intercept) $350 | Samsung Intecept $199 (I see it all the time on sale at BB for $175)
What this leads me to believe is you simply need to find the equivalent phone and simply slash it's price in half, +/- $50. I believe the EVO is the closest match, so take half of that price and you get roughly $225, according to Sprint. Therefore, I believe the triumph will be $250.
What do you all think?
the phone will be sold for $299.99
you can pre-order it now on bestbuy's website.
just go there and search for "motorola triumph"
I'm kinda pissed that the price is so high, but unlimited data, text, and web for 25 a month... will make up the difference in a few months on the money you save from paying your normal phone bill.
If it can't be rootrom'd then im gonna wait for the nexus 3.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I wouldn't, what most people don't know is how these carriers are able to sell the phones for so little money. For example, the rumor touch is 100 bucks for virgin mobile while the off-contract price for the rumor touch on sprint is 250 in most stores, how are they able to do that? the answer is different parts, not just different brands, also lower quality, which is why most people who have a prepaid phone have the most phone problems, there's not a single prepaid phone in the last 3 years that I've seen with no serious problems. While the same can be said for post paid versions in this case it is much worse on prepaid smartphones.
Ask anyone who repairs/mods cellphones, most of the time they won't mess with prepaids :/
The reason those companies sell it higher at full price is to try to get you into their contract.I have never had a problem with a prepaid phone.I personally don't mind getting it cheaper without the contract.I also will dev or work on any phone prepaid or not.I am looking forward to the Triumph, finally there will be a nice spec'd phone on prepaid. While I am happy with th Optimus V I was already looking to use it as a donor for another phone. But with this coming out, I'll just sell my V and get it.Though I'm sure it will have a locked bootloader as long as it can be temp rooted to remove bloatware I'll be very happy.

Yeah but who cares? AT&T versions are loaded with bloatware, they never have the phone in white (e.g. SG2), locked down, lack an FM radio and they remove the physical home button. Not worth getting an AT&T phone at all. Save up your pennies and buy an unlocked phone, it isn't that expensive.
I already bought the international version off contract. I'm not about to sign a contract just to get a crippled version of the device. I happen to like the physical Home button and lack of a search button; holding the Menu key has the same effect.
While there are bloatware/crapware issues and the 2 year lock in as clear disadvantages the fact that you can get a phone like the Note for $300 or more less than unlocked is a big plus for many. In addition, you have a much easier return location if you have a problem.
I almost picked up a Note last week but Newegg didn't have any in stock so I delayed my purchase. Given the issues some are reporting with the Note and the fact that any first of a kind phone is likely to have early issues I decided to hold off for a while.
One of my concerns with buying an imported phone is that you have no way of knowing if the phone they ship you was returned by someone else. This, perhaps more than anything else, is giving me pause about buying an imported model so soon after the phone is released.

The import G-note will most likely have a better look over the att G-note. I just spent $750 on a white G-note n I think it was a good deal. I sold my iphone 4s for $550 n my dell streak for $200. so I really only paid $217 (cost of upgrading to phone 4s) for my G-Note. Wow... some people are taking this kinda personally, lol.
I'm planning to root that sucker and use a custom ROM, plus I've got the grandfathered unlimited data, so I'm psyched AT&T will apparently be offering the Note.
To be honest, if you can flash it and there is good xda dev support, there is no reason not to get a subsidized phone. It's just nice if something goes wrong in the first year to be able to mail it in and get it replaced. I have a service center in town, so Ican just go swap it out.

Personally, unless the Galaxy S III is amazing, I will probably go with the Evo LTE. My upgrade is in Jan 13, so there may be cooler phones between now and then, but so far, I am leaning towards Evo LTE unless the nexus 4 is on sprint by then or the galaxy s iii is considerably better.

I'm still holding out for the galaxy note. If the note doesn't come to sprint, I'll get the S3.

I went into a Sprint Repair center a couple days ago to see if I was up for an upgrade. They said the Galaxy Note was coming to Sprint.
I'm not due for an upgrade till September. I want to see what's out then...but am thinking Galaxy Note.

Galaxy S3!! Rumor has it, Samsung is planning a iphone4s like release, where it will be available global at one time! So sprint should be getting it, at the same time as everyone else!
And GS3 WILL be amazing!

This + LTE. I'm willing to wait a while. Nothing I want to do right now the Epic can't handle. My complaints are all network related.
Is anyone else thinking about the evo lte?

I will probably jump to the AT&T note rather than waiting for sprint note. Part of it is that I want to be able to grab a pre-paid SIM when going to europe, which the Sprint version won't be able to do unless Sprint does something drastic. Part of it is that my company has a contract with AT&T for a 20% discount on plans, etc.

I'm in the exact same boat, the only thing that drew me to sprint is the unlimited data, however now that I work 50+ hours a week I think 2 gigs might be fine for me. (I normally burn through 8 lol)

I'm not sure.
I won't be on Sprint when my contract is up. They are ripping me the **** off.
So it depends on whether I go T-Mobile or Verizon.
I just got my Galaxy Nexus today! It's so beautiful and it couldn't have come at a better time since my Epic jumped (not literally) off my stove to the saltillo tile floor. I had just ordered this phone a couple hours before "The incident". I'm sure going to miss this community.

I think I'm getting ready to jump ship permanently from Sprint. I haven't had many problems with them, but their network is very inconsistent. I have unlimited data on AT&T and ordered the GSM Galaxy Nexus from the Play Store today for $399. That's hard to beat in my opinion. I might keep Sprint to see what happens with LTE, but only time will tell.
There's no sense for me to even consider which phone I'll upgrade to until I know when the LTE network is coming to my city. I'll also be evaluating how my performance on the network improves (if it all) due to Network Vision. If I didn't have such an unbelievable deal with Sprint I might have moved on long ago, but I hate the pay-through-the-nose, limited data plans on the other carriers.
An ideal scenario would be that in the fall, with LTE on here, and my contract up for renewal, the Sprint version of the GSIII comes out like the Epic, as the clear spec leader with all the trimmings including physical keyboard and a totally solid build quality. And no plan rate increases.

Now that I fixed my epic the evo lte is my upgrade plan also unless something with a keyboard comes around before I plan to upgrade

Hands down, a Note - there is no comparison of that device to any other. I've always appreciated convergence of technologies, and there is no better example today than a Note.
Sprint offers a lot which other carriers don't, but after a while you certainly miss what you really want, and that is a solid network, which Sprint isn't. The day the Note arrives on Verizon (hopefully as a world phone), I'm grabbing it regardless of the number of months left on my contract with Sprint.

i like the new evo but no sd card suxs. and gs3 is blow the evo out of the water. time with tell.
Hi,
I was debating whether I should ask this question here or at Spring GS3 forum. I think asking here is more fitting.
I am wondering if I should stay with Sprint or not. I am honestly sick of slow data speed and delayed updates for CDMA phones.
But with wonderful dev magic shown here for our Epic4G, I think there won't be much software issues for GS3.
My alternative is Tmo's prepaid monthly4G for $30 per month. I really like the idea of owning GSM phone and getting unhindered updates from google. But there aren't any nexus phone that is better spec'ed then GS3. Also buying GS3 outright is pretty expensive, +$500.
So, if any of you guys switched to GS3, how are you guys? Any issues or regrets?
How is Sprint's data speed? I just found out from today's news that Sprint's gonna roll out LTE to LA, Boston and NYC area within months.
I just don't want to risk locking in 2 years with Sprint and be miserable...

Well, if you get the Galaxy Nexus, Sprint will offer you a free slim extended battery, it has official 4.1.1 now, and is only $50 for the upgrade at Radio Shack.

GS3 is a great phone, but unless you need a phone _right now_ would avoid locking yourself in contract until Sprint rolls out LTE in your area. Sprint 3G speed/coverage is very YMMV.

Yeah, my bad. The Verizon one is Free. But they are giving a $25 Newegg gift card on most and waiving the $36 activation fee on some too.

Galaxy Nexus is $19.99 with an upgrade from wireflyfriends.com. I'm definitely considering it. The lowest I can find the s3 with an upgrade is $149.99. If you ask me I don't think its worth it.

Glad I stopped by ive never even heard of wireflyfriends.com.....awesome I'm available for an upgrade and been wanting the nexus. Awesome deals they have here!
I'd never heard of the 'friends' site either. Just looked though and only certain people can apparently use the 'friends' site....it says Simplexity employees and their family & friends (hence the name basically). Wirefly itself though I was already well aware of.

To directly respond to the OP, regardless of what you decide on phonewise, if it were me, I'd definitely stick with Sprint, particularly if T-mo is the only alternative you're considering. Yeah, Sprint's speeds where NV hasn't hit yet suck, but if they stay on schedule, everything is supposed to be upgraded by the end of next year. And alot more is being done by the end of this year than I'd have imagined when I first heard of it a few months ago.

Well, I am in LA area so I kinda expect LTE to open soon...
But, T-mo prepaid already has HSPA+ working well in my area.
I am guaranteed at least 3mbps with Tmo HSPA+ for sure, and that is all I need.
I like their cheaper plan, but it is bummer to pay lump sum of ~$350 for a year old G-Nex or ~$600 for GS3...
I am hoping for a new nexus device, but no solid rumors about when it will be available... just speculations.
It might come next year, which is too much waiting for me...
If Sprint somehow offers me free GS3 I would stay, but I don't think Sprint can. So I am ready to walk out...
It comes down to if you want the fastest software updates or the best hardware available..
I went gs3 because the hardware is amazing.. and touchwiz really is nice on this thing.. its not like the epic where it just kind of makes things uglier.. it actually adds a lot of usable features on the gs3.. to the point where I would rather run a custom tw than aosp.
P.s. the screens bigger too!
