Just picked up phone to check something out... set it down last night after messing with some new apps one of the ICS builds and noticed its still idling along... 2 days + another one or two to go (estimated).... Final build is going to be amazing ! ( this is 2600 mah battery, standard charging kernel)

Too bad you've hardly touched the phone in those 2 days, I can put my 3500mah in my evo charge it and then take it off and not touch it for 6 or 7 days and still have 70%+ battery left from your screen on time looks like you maybe used your phone for an hr or 2 if that the phone only discharges 10-15 mah when idle so on a 2600mah you should easily get 200 - 260 hrs standby unless you have a wakelock

Yup not using your phone doesn't prove much for batterylife its not gonna drain fast if you're not using it smh

So, you get great life but you can't use the phone..... What's the point? Unless you've figured out a way to make calls with a dark screen your report isn't very helpful

I can get close that too with CM7 if I don't run 4g. And that is with using it.
The battery comparisons are cool but most use there phone differently.
One good thing, he's not suffering from the wake lock that a lot of ROM's have. Mine is terrible

That's with medium usage; heavy usage roughly around 1 day 8 hours.
Of course I wasn't using it, it was sitting awake (screen off but OS running), on the desk, with low wifi and cell signal. All facebook, twitter, voice, Gmail, Exchange sync was on, and it beeped the speaker/buzzed on every notification.
I Have NEVER gotten that good of standby life on the EVO when it was my main phone. All this was, was an observation...
Hey guys, I'm getting great gas mileage! 500/mpg. It's been sitting in the driveway for three weeks. I've only moved it in the garage when it was raining. Awesome, right?
.
.
jokes aside... That's pretty good battery use for situations when you're far away from a power source like hiking in the mountains.

Just curious if enough people complain, can anything be done to improve it?
I know there are tweaks but i prefer one from htc directly.
If anything, the updates for battery life will come from Froyo.
What HTC DOES need to fix though, is the touch sensor lag on the phone. It's impossible to play ping pong on my Evo.
gotcha...yeah i was playing with a friends iphone, and before today, i didn't notice the lag on the screen until i web browsed with the iphone.
Take action into your own hands and fix it yourself. Removing most of the bloatware and social networking crap increases battery life substantially.
Personally i don't care if I miss my buddies face book status update or if Angie replied to my comment about her tits on twitter. Some can't live without that though.

I have to say that I find the battery life fairly decent...and I am running most of the widgets and have gmail set to push... I took it off of the charger this morning ~7:30, and it died at 9:30 this evening. Thats with about 30 minutes of Pandora streaming over 3G, downloading several apps, watching a couple of YouTube videos, a phone call, some texting...basically normal use. I think that 14 hours of battery life on a phone like this with that type of use is pretty good... Its not a circa 2001 flip phone with a monochrome lcd display that can last for a week or more...but it is heck of a lot more device. just MHO
God I remember those good old days, charging your phone once every two weeks. Car chargers were unheard of.

yep! nice from one perspective, not so much from another! Oh yeah, and I just got the phone on Monday, so that was really only the 2nd full charge cycle. Charging it with the phone off all night tonight, we'll see how long it lasts in the coming days/weeks...I bet it does better! Anyway, I feel pretty comfortable that as long as I anticipate how long I need to go between charges, I can tailor my usage to that...so if i need it to last 20 hours, I will not use Pandora, watch YouTube, or download stuff... Not that hard!

What are you doing to get Android System battery usage down so low? I turned off the Sense home screen and installed ADW. That helped a little. And I'm only using like 4 widgets and some shortcuts. It's still at like 40-50%.
The longer you use the phone the lower Android system goes...not doing anything special everything pretty much stock as the phone came. One thing that does cause huge battery drain that I ran into was setting up the Flikr account but removing it put the battery use back to normal.
i get the exact same battery life with my evo as i did with my hero, using the same battery though. wonder if that makes a difference...
And it's still at 86%...
Did I overcharge or something?
I dont know why but this thread made me lols ! The phone hasnt been plugged in
within the 56 hours ? Could you post a screenshot of the battery status screen ?

Screen off and in airplane mode is the only way you'd be able to pull that off.

Epic magical uber leet jesus battery thread ftw!
Pics or it didnt happen.
I only see it possible if you did a restore and haven't charged.
Example: Performed a restore using a recovery from two days. Before restoring the battery was fully charged. This will cause the amount from last charge to be out of wack and show the amount of hours since your recovery rom was charged.

Oh that? That's a ROM I flashed on your phone. It's called JokesOnYou V1.3
Changelog:
1.0 = Your phone is dead with that image displayed forever
1.1 = Updated the framework, your phone is still dead, but now it's Gingerbread
1.2 = (removed) sent continuous screenshots to Cyanogen, making him **** his pants. I got sick of donating enough for new pants.
1.3 = deducts a penny from the debit card you use in the android market daily to contribute to steve jobs' coffin. It's pretty nifty, called the iDead and continually updates it's users letting us know that he is, in fact, still dead...your phone (sadly) is still dead and will continue to display your insane battery life.

Foolishness.
56 hours isn't that crazy if you think about it, it's almost 2 1/2 days, if you put your in edge, and low brightness and don't text or call anyone or use at all, for that matter, I think you can achieve that. There's people who go for 2 days without charging. I don't see why it can't happen. It's not a blackberry but ****tt, it's close enough.

That's about right for battery life then. I don't think you can do much better.
im convinced the only thing that kernels/roms can help mitigate is usage burn, radio burn (no signal) is going to drain a battery no matter what. I keep my phone on wifi at my house and get great battery life. At work, when the phone is on 3G and not getting any signal the battery dies wicked fast. between 730 and 1030 today my battery dropped from 85% to 25%. Ive also had my battery die in 3 hours flat because of no signal.
yea, I forget where i read it, (i think when i used to go to ppcgeeks forums) but there was actually a lengthy detailed rundown of real world usage of 3G vs wifi, and wifi definately draws less power.

I took this from my first post on battery life. I wish it could be better cause I realize I barely used the phone during the 22hrs. Half of it was sleep and only ten minutes in a call and some YouTube videos. Also some music with PowerAMP.

After experimenting I have found out that instead of putting it in airplane mode you could just turn off 3g and it last quite a bit(at work). I only turn it on during break time. Leaving 3g makes me be lucky to leave work in double digit battery power.

I second this. Pretty much don't use 3G, and sure as heck not 4G, if you don't have to. My battery will literally stand for hours at a certain percent with 3G off and screen off. I don't have a WiFi router yet but seriously thinking about getting one just for use when I'm at home.

How much did you actually use your S2?
My guess is very little, look at the power use ratio of screen vs. cell standby, they are almost the same. Right my phone is 57% display vs. 3% cell standby.

Exactly, posts like this are tragic in my book, oh look how many hours i get, anyone can get that if you don't or barely use your phone.
Wow what a pointless first post.. Congratulations on not using phone..
Anyone could get battery life of xxx hours if they never use there phone, it's the screen on time that everyone cares about since generally people with such amazing devices rooted and pimped can't put there phone down...
I get 4:30 hours with CheckROM 4.0 and DK kernel, all values to stock... and that's with playing games! My battery is the stock one.
I guess with minimum brightness, underclock and undervolt and no games i can get 5+ hours but I wouldn't count that as normal usage either.
i charge mine everyday and always excited and looking forward to charging.

If you wanted to buy a phone you aren't going to use and then brag about not using at all for 100 hours maybe next time you could review this?
Would make you look a fair bit less ridiculous, you would have got the same use out of it and would have saved you over £300...
The only great thing about having such a great battery life and not using your phone is if you end up losing it, which is unlikely if its lying there on the side all the time.. At least you know its bound to stay awake for a few days so you can send over Plan B and locate it. Funnily enough I went on a cruise this year, start of November and after 5 days of no use (being in the middle of the Ocean n all, i went to grab my phone from inside the suitcase to find it was still turned on, (i swore i turned it off) and the battery dropped no more than 40 percent. Was amazed to find it last so long, especially as i've not got the patience to leave it dormant for so long.
keep your galaxy off and the battery usage could be increased to a year lol
bought one of the best phone in the market and not using it all features? rofl

This post is similar to "Hey look at my mileage of the car that is parked in the garage".
Kinda pointless imo.
Lot of comment you got there LOL
Mine are using about ½% per hour in standby (little sync, good 3G connection, no Wifi), so it might last for about 200 hours (8 days) ... if I ever should go into some kind of long lasting coma where I couldn't use my phone
I've been waiting for my battery to die. This is my normal use. I just do what I normally do.
Streamed music to my car while driving for a while

I assume anyone getting more than 48 hours of battery life is turning off data, or at least disabling updates/background data. Just out of curiosity, do you always keep that turned off, or do you just do that when you're seeing how much you can squeeze out of the battery? In my mind, the big reason to get a device with a big battery is so you don't have to baby the battery like that.
