Hello there,
I just got the Kindle Fire and although I do really like it, I have some problems with it. I got it for my dad as a tablet to surf the web with and read books from Amazon and purchase these books on the official Amazon store too but I have some problems with that.
Firstly, I live in Austria and there is no Amazon App-Market support here nor is there a Kindle Store App. There might be one in the Android Market, which I have not tried , but this is would be crucial, so that he can easily purchase books from the device itself without having to use a computer.
Another thing that's bothered me is that it seems there is no way to bypass the Amazon Appstore restrictions and get GApps while maintaining the original ROM or Interface. Personally, I think that the Carousel Interface is very intuitive and nice , however I hate that you cannot change the language to German, because my dad does not speak English and that if you decide to get another ROM, there is no way to get this Kindle Carousel Interface (that I know of atleast).
So I'm asking you: is there a modified version of the ROM that is currently on the Kindle Fire, maybe with multilanguage support and support for Android Market and if there is not, which custom ROM would you recommend and is there a Kindle App for Android that allows you to access the Store?
I don't care about the video service, I don't really need it nor does my dad but I would really need to have the Kindle book-store support.
If you guys could help me out, I'd be very grateful.

I have a stock Rom that is rooted with multi-language keyboards. I use otaroot keeper to unroot and have full access to the amazon video. I also have all gapps installed since it is rooted. You have install each ime keyboard seperately. I have posted in a thread how I got it to work. All rooting info is available on the forums.

you don't need an other rom - read this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382360
mine is nearly complete in german with the stock rom and have the german book & mp3 store ...
Thanks for the help guys, I was just wondering whether some of you knew if the Kindle Store that is available in the Android Market works with the Fire. Also, if I root the Fire , can I just install the regular Market and then get the Apps?
you can install android market and use this one for apps
little hint: never update the kindle app - your original app on the kf will not work anymore ...
if you change the region as described in the link you get redirected to the german kindle book store
just read it and do exactly as described

It will work. Last update amazon disabled root and keyboards. Just reroot and fix the errors.

Hi there,
I tried to install Firefox, after flashing ICS to my Tab. But I get an error "incompatible with your device" error.
Can somebody explain why this is happening.
Firefox was running on my 7.7 HC and it should run with ICS....?
thanks

Heh "should" is a word fraught with peril. But, yeah, it doesn't seem compatible at the moment. I don't know if editing the build.prop would be a workaround or not, however. Have you checked their mobile support site?
Anyway, I just downloaded the nightly build and it installs and seems to run fine on my ICS 7.7.
Thanks burhanistan for pointing me to the nightlies. Did know they also exist for Android.
Indeed the Nightly is running smooth
Yes you can use the nightlies, They did put out a stable ver of firefox but its only for phones right now they said they are working on a tablet verison.
Search for Aurora. That's the Firefox nightly. Quick ICS Browser is so much better IMHO.

After many hours of reading posts, installing different roms, installing all the flash apk's floating around the forums and trying every available browser, I decided to post here. I have not been able to get flash player to work at all with 4.2 on any custom rom. Every browser I have tried has crashed. I have been at this game for several years, so I have jumped through all the hoops, fixing permissions, fresh installs, etc... My question is, has anybody else had this experience? I am not really looking for testimonials of it working for people right out of the gate, because obviously it is by the lack of postings on this issue. If you fall into the category of struggling with flash on 4.2 and found a combination that finally works, please pass that info on. Thanks and have a great day.
Flash on 4.2
I don't know about on a custom ROM, but this browser plays flash on stock 4.2 with a custom kernel

Worked out of the box for me.
Hi OP,
I am facing exactly the same problem as you. Mine is a Nexus 7 3g model running on android 4.2 which I got yesterday. I have also try installing every possible flash apk that i can find...tried on alot of browser. Firefox beta, boat browser, dolphin version 8 to 9, holu as recommended by the post above. None can get to work. Its either the browser crash or some can't even display any flash plugin.
Did Google did any modifications to 4.2 that prevent flash from working?? If anybody has solve the problem please share your solution. I am also not a newbie to rooting and custom Roms as my mobile is galaxy s2 and is rooted with custom ROM. Just that I tot nexus 7 can install flash without Going through that. By as the op indicates, even that did not help him.
Thanks for any help in advance!!

Thanks for the reply. I was really not wanting to go the stock route unless necessary. I will tuck the download away and use if need be. Thanks for the response.
Flash is working but only for really small videos.
When it comes to bigger videos or apps it freezes the browser.(Both with Custom and normal kernel)

Thanks for the reply. I only tried it on several websites that had web streams that I visit frequently. Good to know that there may be issues across the board.
not an issue at all with flash, works great. android aosp browser, rasbean jelly ROM, trinity kernel.

I tried that combination, didn't experiment with any other kernel but the one built into the rom. I don't know, hard to imagine it being a hardware issue with my device.

do you use any ad blocking apps? try adfree(play store free), itll stop a lot of those flash ads that give flash a hard time. what browser are you using?

Use the AOSP stock browser mainly, but tried boat, xscope and others that I have had success with on 4.1.2. I will try adfree with a fresh install and see what happens. Thanks.
Same problem here. It's working with some flash but definitely not all. Even the one on adobe website that checking whether flash is installed make browser crashed. ><
Hope to find solution too.
If you have flash can you watch hulu without a plus subscription?

Well, only solution I've found for now.
Use Firefox for android. It's only browser I've found working with almost all flash.
If you'd still prefer other browser as default, just switch off flash/plugin option in that browser to "on demand" (not always).
Then download Flashify from playstore, it helps share link to other browser with ease.
I use AOSP as my default browser, when I browse to a page with flash and I want to see, just share it to Firefox via Flashify.
That's my solution for now, hope this help.
Hi guys,
Seems like there is a mixture of success and failure of getting flash working on Android 4.2.
Care to share what device you are using be it success or failure?
I still can't get mine to work.
Nexus 7 (3G Model)
Stock condition: Andriod 4.2
I even come across a thread where after he did a factory reset the flash got working. I did my factory reset...still no luck.
Well, I'll share my detail.
Nexus 7 wifi model 32GB
Stock JB 4.2 Rooted
Flash player 11.1.115.27 (Try other version - same result)
Flash working on Firefox for android only, no other browsers.
Should I try factory reset then ?
I have it on my 32GB Wi-Fi. 4.2
Used the info from here (I take no credit for this) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336

and this is why I didn't update to 4.2

Sorry, flash was too choppy for me with Firefox on 4.2. I reverted back to 4.1.2 until things get ironed out with possible updates or a solid solution.
Hey all, I have gotten my new nexus 10 and loving it! I rooted it and unlocked it already but I can't get flash to work I tried installing the flash 11.1 apk and restarted but firefox or google is a no go. I have 4.2.1 running as of now, could someone please point me in the right direction to getting flash installed on here? Thanks!
Chrome does not support flash. Quick Google search revealed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28799533
http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-android-supports-flash-learn-how-enable-itI don't use Firefox so I don't know if it works.
Alternatively, AOSP browser, Boat browser, ocean browser, and maxthon support flash.

thanks so much! For some odd reason the flash version I got didn't work, following your guide got both firefox and dolphin browser to work flawlessly! Let's hope all flash site works.
Is there anyway to stop the Flash version of Dolphin apk from being automatically updated to the latest non-Flash version?
