Hey-
HTCDev just released a bootloader unlock tool expansion to the wildfire. Hopefully this will help some with rooting etc., and can only be a good thing.
Only good things can come from this!
Re
HTC Wildfire in supported list it is not Buzz
strongly not recommended download and flash bootloader.
Please get your information correct. Both the HTC Wildfire and HTC Wildfire S are listed.
I confirm that HTC Buzz is in list but i don't understand about the RUU before the first step...
Where i can find a RUU for the wildfire?
My Wildfire hasn't branded and they say:
BEFORE beginning the Unlock Bootloader process your product requires that you update the ROM to the version listed in the table below first, then download the RUU next to it to enable the unlocking capability.

I'm confused... what link in the table i must grab?

htc wildfire
has anyone try to root the phone by follow the htcdev tools yet ?
I'm wondering if it can also unlock HBOOT 1.01.0002? Anyone has tried? I really want to root my brothers phone. If only it's as easy unlocking like the Desire S.
If you don't want to risk anything with going the HTC way, check my guide, all the files are provided. The guide also tells people how to root with the new HBOOT.

Would you mind uploading it somewhere so some more experienced users could take a look at it, from what I've read on the HTC dev site I think I'd rather use the revolutionary method still.

I tried to follow the procedure skipping the preliminary step where they speak the RUU, but the command in step eight (flashboot oem ...) always error.
What do you mean? The file I downloaded? It's usaff27 tutorial and link is on his sig.

I think that the RUU in HCTdev page are only for CDMA version. We must wait for the gsm version.
guys, for the unlocked Wildfire and some other carriers like Vodafone UK is up now. The unlocked version I think is HTC WWE.

I unlocked a Wildfire using these instruction. In order to root I think I have to flash a prerooted ROM with adb now right? How do I do that?

My phone doesn't make calls and I need to go to the Vodafone Store this afternoon. I'm root so I tried to install a Vodafone Spain RUU but I can't because my bootloader is highter.
Have you got a RUU for my Wildfire or an unrooted nandroid backup? It's the new model, made in May '10 I think.
Thank you all, I don't wanna change my phone because of calls...

Btw:
Is there also an *.nbh (or are other file(s) needed?) file for the wildfire like G1/MT3g has, to complete factory default your device using the goldcard way?

yes for wildfire is 4 files needed, pc49diag.zip, pc49diag.nbh, pc49img.zip, pc49img.nbh, i have searched from net this files, but no luck so far. if anyone find them then feel free to share with other wildfire users
I might I've found pc49img.zip rapidshare.com/files/419254202/PC49IMG.zip ; i'm downloading it and testing right the way !!!

That tutorial is not to sim unlock your phone, its for CID unlock (superCID) if you want to sim unlock you will have to buy an unlock code

So that guide will totally unlock the phone to all UK networks?
YouTube S-Off
How to S-Off HTC One without a PC.
As you can see from the video I am running ViperRom with stock kernel, from what I understand some kernels will cause S-Off to fail. Must be rooted to use this method. Also this will break Hot reboot, but doing an RUU will fix this but also wipe all your data.
Download Revone here http://revolutionary.io/revone OP is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582
Once its downloaded move to data/local/tmp
Then open terminal
Type the following
su (enter)
cd /data/local/tmp (enter)
chmod 755 revone.bin (enter) (some users may have to remove the .bin if thats you remove it from all of the lines)
./revone.bin -P (enter) (Capital P is needed)
Reboot
open terminal
cd /data/local/tmp (enter)
su (enter)
./revone.bin -s 0 -u
Reboot.
To remove "tampered"
open terminal
cd /data/local/tmp
su
./revone.bin -t

Main advantage is you can have super cid which means you can flash any ruu and get 1st updates, for example my hox is 3 branded and I got jb update 2 months later then unbranded devices if I had s-off I could have updated asap it got released, another thing is SIM unlocking.
Aside from that there's not many other advantages, of course you can run custom bootloader, write to any partition, this more of a advanced user stuff then regular flasher stuff.

I always use custom ROMs that usually update quickly I might soff just to remove tampered in case I need to send to HTC or EE for repair thanks

Hmm, adding the .bin to chmod 755 revone or to /revone doesn't seem to work for me. I have to remove that to make it work and thats how I got S-Off. Weird. Maybe its because I have a developer edition or I'm on dricktroid 7. Anyway, a really good guide. Thanks.

You missed my point mate , yes you can flash small firmware updates but for example when the android 4.3 or android 5 arives it'll most likely have Hboot ( bootloader ) update , and if you're locked onto some network with their cid = you wont recieve update for sure at least 1month if not more vs the others who will have it the same day it got released.
That would be one of the main adventages. Tho if you're patient guy/girl and can wait for career ( if you're even on the career ) then this is no issue for you
Another good thing would be adding cid for stock android edition from the HTC google edition = have pure stock + receive updates from google itself.
Of course this maters only if you like AOSP at all
Either way S-OFF is great thing to have. At least for me.
Aside from all this you can also unlock your bootloader without even using HTC Dev , you can S-OFF without root / unlocked bootloader via HTC.dev and unlock / relock / lock bootloader along with removing all the traces of your phone ever being flashed = warrenty wasn't voided This was huge issue on HTC One X , many warrenties were denied just cuz of bootloader was unlocked even tho that software had nothing to do with for example *wifi bug* that we had. This way HTC cannot decline your warrenty even if you did [email protected] up something which is the joy of this
Think of it as .. hmm well you can pretty much do whatever you want to your device and in case you mess things up you can always go back for warrenty , tho if you brick your phone there still shouldn't be a way for them to tell were you messing with the software since the phone is dead
When I type the second command it says invalid option -p
Revone successful
Edit:- nm. It was just the capital P causing the problem. M s off now

Sry, my English is not the best, and I didn't understand everything what stands in the first post.

Do I have to flash my Rom from the beginning? Or is everything the same, just with S-OFF?
Is anything gone, like my sd card?

I think it depends on what browser you use to download the revone file with. I could be wrong on this.

Your English is fine. Nothing gets wiped you will just have s-off after. However this breaks hot reboot and I guess to get it back you have to run the RUU which will wipe your phone. I dont use hot reboot myself so I just left things as is.

This is the Kernel Sources... Nothing to see here people, move on..
You shocked me. I was thinking if htc really changes itself to be more user and dev-friendly. All of those are obsolete kernel sources( except the GE ones), and htc, it seems, will never release RUUs of regions other than Developer Edition.
There is one now...check the AT&T section. I hope the normal ones for non branded phones will follow soon!

Not. They are not available yet for 4.22 / hboot 1.54. Keep waiting for RUUs, or keep waiting for new s off solution.

RUUs are never posted by HTC. They are always leaked in some way or form.
Htcdev only provides kernel source and other software as required by the GPL. It does NOT provide RUUs.

Wheather it's true or not. I installed the update for AT&T and am now on h-boot 1.55. I'm a noob at android and didn't know how hard it it is to get s-off considering how easy I got it the first time. So i Locked my bootloader and got S-On to install the update. Hi all,
I got my HTC One back from Vodafone repair centre with a note stating, that due to the time and expense of fixing the problem (raised glass screen) they have sent me another phone. I nipped out for a couple of hours and when I came back without thinking applied the bloody updates from OTA which updated the hboot to 1.54 and JB 4.2.2 :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
