First, I want to say thanks for the help from my previous (first) post. As my second post goes, feel free to contribute your .02.
I'm going to south korea in a month or so for a while and I wanted to take my t-mobile samsung vibrant. I heard about something called a "whitelist" or whatever but I would really like to use it there. I'm currently running a rooted, Axura flashed vibrant and fell in love with it. I really don't want to pay the high cost for a nice smartphone in Korea so keeping my phone would be ideal. I was hoping there is a way for this to be possible if I unlock or flash it somehow or tinker with it. Thanks in advance and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I just saw some threads sayiing it wont work and will..... Hmmmmmm

Im relatively new to android and honestly have learned a lot through trial and error. I got a warranty replacement today bc my incall speaker was having issues. So I decided it was time to update to DL09. The directions for install and rooting on here were flawless. Its nice to know there are people out there doing this basically for the common good. Plus it gives me something to do when my wife goes to bed early. So thanks i appreciate it.
Glad to see that xda has helped another android newcomer. Happy Modding!

i bricked my N7000 tonight doing a wipe/flash off of LP6 leaked kernel
why do i think its LP6 kernel cause?
last night i used the same rom i was building and flashed it again tonight, straight away when i hit flash i knew something was wrong because no progress bar showed up, i gave it 10 minutes and still stuck, rebooted holding recovery button combo, screen went black and she was toast. no cwm, no download, no os boot, no pc connection.
either way its a goner, but the good news:
i am sending it back to the guy i bought it from and he will deal with samsung india for me and ship it back *no he wont scam me im not even worried about that
so i dont know how long it will take, but i hope you enjoy your selves and be safe!

As I wrote you I think people shouldn't flash LP6 or CM9 kernel because they are too heavy modified without kernel sources.

Bad luck man. Hope to see you back soon.
I bricked my Note few days ago when wipe data from LP5, buy another new replacement mainboard, right now feel very afraid when flash a new ROM... may be brick again at any moment! Remember the same with Samsung Omnis before. I never have this issue with HTC. Waiting if HTC will release a new big s ame screen, will back to him. I beleave HTC is more carefully design theys phone, compare with Samsung.

Have fun with locked bootloaders
it happens, we all take the risk's just being here so no reason for me to be upset
for now im a bb 9800 user which i think is even worse then bricking my phone! haha
phone goes out to india this week, hopefully have it back before july haha
I flashed LP5 and LP6 kernel and firmwares many times. Never got any problems. This is because I carefully follow instructions and I always know what I'm doing.
Well fellows I updated my brand new device two days before and certainly it was working quite fine until today it just by itself lost all the signals I was shocked and re started the phone it took long time to show signals but waiting was'nt worth here my network state for device was "Emergency calls only" and when I tried to dial or send sms I get error "Not registered on network"... I than searched the forums googled the symptom but there was no luck on operating the device on network while keep in mind that my device is Official unlocked version and those who haven't had such issue will surely say that S3 is best phone bla bla bla but those who introspection me will understand the real value of mighty Galaxy S3... shame I switched from iPhone knowing that its iPhone killer but killer killed itself... so sad

Well then go back to iPhone, no one here is interested in hearing you moan and complain.
If you have a question, ask it and we will try to answer it.
If you just come to complain then don't bother coming back.

Yeah. That's the new "Stops working after two days" bug that Samsung accidentally introduced into the new firmware. Unlike normal bugs, which usually appear immediately after a flash, this new bug waits two whole days and then pops up. A normal, seasoned Android user would have tried swapping SIMs, trying current SIM in another handset, and ruling out hardware problems before concluding the firmware was at fault. Clearly, your extensive iPhone experience has given you the wisdom to see past this clever deception, and immediately conclude that the firnware must be at fault. I'll know to track you down in the future for any tricky problems I might have. THANKS MAN!!!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
1. try switching wcdma/gsm modes.
2. try some other sim
3. try a factory reset
if you still dont get signals, then possibly its related to corrupted "efs" folder.
So I shouldn't update to LFB?

No it doesn't. He didn't even say he is using LFB. "Latest" firmware depends on region and variant

I should apologize too, if I helped contribute to this whole SIM bug confusion. I was just giving the OP some much needed crap. XXLFB is rock solid! Flash away!!

In any case, my point still stands: you can't complain about a firmware version and not even say what version it is. What the hell kind of answer do you expect? The OP has some firmware version with some kind of possible signal problem. And?

You're right. I was just so WTF-faced after reading the OP that I had to rant for a minute.

Gotta give OP a break. We're not in the Q&A or Developer section so he's under no obligation to merely post up a question.
We can't keep replying to someone's frustration with immediate condemnation and "so go back to Apple." He's having issues, and is offering his rant. If I purchased a brand new device, ran an official update, and had things mess up, I'd be damn well pissed too. We don't need to white knight for Samsung. Nor should we give a **** what device someone is coming from.
I don't believe that it was the update, because you would have heard of more people complaining about this issue, it's one or two things,a defective device, or he works for Apple!

While you're right about us not needing to defend the device or company and we shouldn't rise to this kind of thing, there's a difference between ranting and trolling. Frustrated or not, there's no way anyone who owns a modern smartphone and registers here would have missed that playing the iphone-card on pretty much any android forum is a hot spot for flamewars. That's no way to find a solution, the only thing you'll find is a punch in the face and that helps noone.
Your argument is valid for any of the people replying too. You don't need to be a knight in shiny armor for the OP, the people responding is just venting frustration over what they find is wrong with the post. There's always someone who gets frustrated.

Hello All!!!
I know you all are bonding as a community going nuts waiting on root. Here is a place where you can discuss issues not necessarily Note 4 related. All we ask is that you still abide by the forum rules, keep it clean and keep it civil. We hope you all see root soon to kick off development!
Enjoy

Yes your right… on day one lol but its coming I believe real soon we will have root before christmas ? im almost certain of it what a gift it will be !!
Oh geez, I just remember the anxiety I had when I bought the HTC Evo when it first came out and rooted it day 1 lol. It literally took me hours before I got it right. I'm surprised I didn't brick the thing
l know it will do no good but I sent a Iong message to Verizon last night detailing the profit available to gain by offering an option to get an unlocked phone and other ideas.
It will never go beyond the first reader, but it made me feel better to get it out

There is also this petition in the S5 thread..and there was a poll somewhere that proposed a price for an unlock from Verizon but cannot find it now...will see if I stumble on it this morning.
Appreciate this thread. Yea I'm one of many desperately wanting root.
I guess we just need to relax a bit and appreciate what this phone is capable of "out of box".
It would still provide so much more if/when we were able to get it rooted.
Meanwhile, my hope is for other posters to come to this thread rather than to go off-topic in both the main "Bounty" thread & ".... Root" threads.
ha, best thing about this thread taking off is the idea the Root thread will update less filling me with false hope. This has really made me think about what Android is like without root, period. It's not as bad as back in the day using a non-jailbroken Apple device, but it definitely feels constrained. It's a constant disappointment reading about indie developed apps or other crazy creative ideas on XDA that are totally non-accessible on this phone. It just seems like a waste of...possibility. My highest praise to the Note 4 is that I don't think there's a better option available, even if root is an impossibility. But at the same time, it's the last totally locked down phone I'll buy.
So far not a fan of bootloader lock and no root think this is my last samsung phone I will buy.
Duck it. I like my N4 but it would be. great to have root someday
I really like my Note 4 even though it's the first Android device that I haven't rooted. The only thing I really miss is TB.

me too, i really do love the N4 even after i swore i'd never buy another samsung phone, i'm just being hateful that i cannot have full ownership of this device and do as i please.
Desperately looking for a dev edition -
The Note 4 is the first android phone I don't feel the need to root.
