I than searched the forums googled the symptom but there was no luck on operating the device on network while keep in mind that my device is Official unlocked version and those who haven't had such issue will surely say that S3 is best phone bla bla bla but those who introspection me will understand the real value of mighty Galaxy S3... shame I switched from iPhone knowing that its iPhone killer but killer killed itself... so sad

Yeah. That's the new "Stops working after two days" bug that Samsung accidentally introduced into the new firmware. Unlike normal bugs, which usually appear immediately after a flash, this new bug waits two whole days and then pops up. A normal, seasoned Android user would have tried swapping SIMs, trying current SIM in another handset, and ruling out hardware problems before concluding the firmware was at fault. Clearly, your extensive iPhone experience has given you the wisdom to see past this clever deception, and immediately conclude that the firnware must be at fault. I'll know to track you down in the future for any tricky problems I might have. THANKS MAN!!!

1. try switching wcdma/gsm modes.
2. try some other sim
3. try a factory reset
if you still dont get signals, then possibly its related to corrupted "efs" folder.

Gotta give OP a break. We're not in the Q&A or Developer section so he's under no obligation to merely post up a question.
We can't keep replying to someone's frustration with immediate condemnation and "so go back to Apple." He's having issues, and is offering his rant. If I purchased a brand new device, ran an official update, and had things mess up, I'd be damn well pissed too. We don't need to white knight for Samsung. Nor should we give a **** what device someone is coming from.
I don't believe that it was the update, because you would have heard of more people complaining about this issue, it's one or two things,a defective device, or he works for Apple!

While you're right about us not needing to defend the device or company and we shouldn't rise to this kind of thing, there's a difference between ranting and trolling. Frustrated or not, there's no way anyone who owns a modern smartphone and registers here would have missed that playing the iphone-card on pretty much any android forum is a hot spot for flamewars. That's no way to find a solution, the only thing you'll find is a punch in the face and that helps noone.
Your argument is valid for any of the people replying too. You don't need to be a knight in shiny armor for the OP, the people responding is just venting frustration over what they find is wrong with the post. There's always someone who gets frustrated.

But the purpose of this post is any suggestions on specific apps for the Nexus I can try out in the market. There are some that Ive read in this forum some but maybe some were left out.
Thanks in advance.
Just sayin, but the only real chance of a brick is to let your battery die or pull it while flashing the radio. (to my understanding)
try the XDADevelopers app, it's pretty nifty.

Thank you for these
Just make sure your battery is charged, you probably won't brick this phone unless your trying to.
While there's not much of a chance for bricking, it supposedly does void your warranty. Some people have been able to get work done even after unlocking though.
With that said, I thought the same thing and thought I would wait about a month before I unlocked it, but that lasted about 2 days lol.
I unlocked it and flashed Cyan's ROM and haven't looked back since.

If you didn't engrave it, don't root it yet. Use it for a week or two, make sure there's no reason to return/replace it due to some defect. If there is no reason, then root it =)
My only 2 reasons for rooting it are: WiFi tethering and Flashlight. Imo, there are no other real reasons to do it, stock rom is extremely well done and I didn't notice much difference between it and Cyan.
Just root it..you'll truly own your phone then. Unless you don't know how to read and follow instructions properly or are just plain incompetent..which I doubt you are since you found this forum~ the chances of bricking are low.
Root it and never look back.
Nah, give it a few days to let any hardware issues make themselves known, then root it if your of a mind.
If you don't root it, all you are going to be able to think about is rooting it. I say use it for a few days to make sure all the hardware is good and go for it. I think I lasted about 36 hours before giving in and I told myself that I wasn't going to do it!

My reasoning for wanting to root it, is so I can put the Desire rom on the device. I really enjoy the HTC Sense and android. The stock android on the Nexus One is fantastic I agree just IMO missing the Sense UI.
Sprint had a software that send them your baseband version. So if you calling in for troubleshooting on your device be careful. If the rep knows what there doing and what to look for they can mark your device damaged beyond repair

considering what sprints up to with their base stations, customer service improvements, and the fact that even when i worked for em 3-4 years ago, they were always updating their rms/rms+/fast/snap/fdt systems, i can't say i'm too surprised.
the leg up they go for on the other companies afterall is trying to be the first to the gate with tech.
anything our system info can tell, i'm sure they can see. kernel/rom/etc. i doubt they'd act on it unless its a store visit though. or i'd hope not anyways. it'd be strange and surprising to see the company thats the easiest on the rom community(they're the only ones who kept their mouth shut about wireless tether so far, and the easiest with 3rd party apps from the beginning) to turn on them.

They knew on my wifes Intercept two weeks ago and the tech support just asked if rom I was using was better than stock. I said yes, and he said that it s the only way to get that phone to function properly. He then took care of my issue as if it was a "non-rooted" phone.
I had my external speaker go out and took it up to the Sprint store to get the speaker replaced. The tech asked me if I rooted it, but he didn't have a problem with that.
The problem I had was that replacing the speaker screwed up the phone somehow so I had to re-flash. Meaning it wouldn't boot properly. But that is another story.

OK - it makes sense that a tech/repair guy at the local Sprint store might be able to tell if you've "rooted" your phone ( by the way - didn't you all Odin back to stock ? ) ; but are you saying that Sprint HQ can tell if I'm rooted/ROMed just by me calling them from my Epic ? ....... I could care less about the Intercept...that damn thing can burn in a pit...which may actually help it function better than it currently does.
Not sure if they have a system or not, but I laughed that the dude knew the only way it works is with a custom ROM. I have Ubentdroid on it and at least the capacitive buttons work now.
If you can't tell, I would not recommend the Intercept. It sucks more than the suckiest suck that ever sucked.

Sometimes its an issue that isnt a biggie, so unroot is a waste of time. With my wifes, it was that her phone stopped being recognized on Sprint service. It ended up being an account screw up.
Well this is simple, we can just create a flashable zip to simply change the baseband to display the stock one.
(Haven't done any rom developement, so I don't know where that file lies.)

EXACTLY! why take a chance? especially if you have lost/stolen protection, you don't want to give them a reason to screw you over. good to know they can figure it out over the phone as well tho. hopefully they stay content letting people root away w/ no consequence except for a voided warranty, considering all the reasons they give customers for rooting (CIQ, DRM, ect...)

I'm not sure how I feel about the included version (3.6.84.26668.26670.1638.Verizon), since it's missing the custom dictionary of added words. The overall look is different, which is fine, and I like the numbers having the top row.

Update: After playing around a little bit, I realized i have slightly better signal!
Note: tried fastbooting and unlocking bootloader, but all i succeeded in was draining my battery...
Now it's time to try gingerbreak...
update: tried gingerbreak 2x for 20 minutes apiece, on a non formatted then formatted sd card, and got nowhere ...
Well guys, here I am with major thoughts of dumping my Note 3 and ending my short couple of month love affair with it.
I just feel that this device underachieved for me. My major beef with it is the poor wifi and overall network performance of the phone with no fix in sight. I can't stand the instability of the wifi performance. I also hate the speaker on this thing.
I also am disappointed with the community. I don't know what it is, but this community doesn't seem very active or have big numbers. I understand maybe a lot of people shy away because of the locked bootloader and such, but it just seems like low activity here.
With that being said, not all hope is lost. I still like this phone overall. I got in on the Cyber Monday deal for a $350 Moto X. I am making my decision easy for myself. If I like the Moto X, I am keeping it and dumping my Note 3. If I don't, I will keep my Note 3 for a little while longer.
And I understand that these phones are on opposite sides of the spectrum. But something intrigues me about the Moto X.
Ultimately I know that nobody probably cares. And that's cool, you can simply ignore this thread. But for anyone else, I would like to hear your thoughts.
Thanks!

I wouldn't put up with that, either. But my N3's WiFi and 4G connections have been excellent. Have you tried exchanging your phone?
I'd love to dump mine also .. having all the same issues in regards to the WiFi and network connectivity. Problem I have, I rooted mine and now I get that B/S "Custom" boot .. I've read through everything up here in regards to getting rid of that boot screen and so far NOTHING has worked. So right now, unless I find a way to hard brick my phone, I'm stuck with this damn thing.

What ROM are you using? My T-Mobile note 3 using att has excellent 4g LTE coverage but when I had T-Mobile coverage at first it sucked! I'm talking bad!! Barely any data connection if any and dropped a lot of calls. As far as WiFi I get excellent coverage also. Don't give up on your note 3 just yet. Just give up on t mobile!! If you use Chainfire's region unlock app from play store and switch to an att carrier, (like net 10 or Straight talk $45 a month) you'll be good to go.

I had the same issues with my previous one. I'm on at&t and I've seen threads about the same issues that I'm having. It seems pretty common.

Why not just sell it and get something else? The Note 3 is still going for decent money on Swappa and most people prefer to buy rooted phones on there.

Can you restore on mj5 after rooting with Kingo? I read you can use Kingos "unroot" then factory reset, but I dunno.
Probably best to use the the already established thread for this this type discussion. ..
