SIM card error - Omnia 7 General

Suddenly, my Omnia refuses to accept a SIM card.
I found a thread in the archive ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-973695.html ) which seems to suggest that it's a hardware related issue, but since my warranty is not valid, i am still hoping it's something i can fix somehow myself.
If not, could someone point me to a link perhaps where i could buy a repair kit?

Mine did the same and it went away for repair where they say they simply flashed it back to the original T-Mobile ROM and the issue was resolved. Would be worth a try

That would be nice, if there was a decent backup for WP
Actually, there is that one app, i'll give it a shot.

The problem was that the some SIM control chip burned out. Had to take it on repair, but it was not that expensive, 25 euros.

dead SD card reader

somehow my SD card reader has died. Is there anything I can do to identify the cause of the problem, or do I just need to take it into an O2 shop?
I was hoping there was something in software I might be able to do? is there some process I can check to see if it's running? or a hardware debug routine that can be accessed?
thanks,
Joe
Same problem or at least a similar one here, my Exec reads but not writes. I don't think you'll get an answer in this forum, but please post how much it will cost the repair when you find out.
Good luck!
fixed!
I managed to get mine fixed under warranty. It disappeared into the O2 shop for a week and came back good as new.
I think there are places that will do it for money, but I was lucky enough to not have to look at that option!

SIM CARD Stuck inside AMEO! help

I have been having a battle with T Mobile ever since the day i got my ameo. I was having a problem getting the sim to register so after looking at the little picture of the simcard with the arrow under it I gently pushed it down a bit thinking it may 'Click' in like a memory card.
Unfortunately the simcard just kept moving and literally slid past the reader directly into the phone! and could not be removed. All you could see is the top edge at the bottom.
T mobile have said it was MY fault and voided my warranty but surely NO PHONE should allow this to happen.
A private phone repair shop has removed the simcard and said that nothing was broken inside the phone so therefore there was nothing in place to stop this happening.
I phoned HTC and the guy said that he could not push a simcard into the phone when he tried.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Has anyone got any advice on what i should do?
Its so annoying surely it is a manufacturing error to allow a card to go into a phone!
My first Ameo wouldnt recognise any sim. I returned it and got a replacement.
If the sim is out of the phone now and its working (ie, you can put it in so it works) dont worry. If it still wont work, just report it (but dont mention it going inside) as a broken phone, DOA. They will replace if its brand new, they HAVE to directly replace it up to 14 days after purchase.
this all happened 30 days ago!
the phone has been to tmobiles repair people and to this private firm who have removed it.
its a long long story
i dont want anyone to mess up their phone but i would like to know if anyone can push their simcard past the sim reader.
I am going to argue that it is a manufacturing error not my fault as the HTC tech person said his ameo/advantage would not allow this to happen.
IMHO The Simcard holder is absolutely awful in the Ameo. Its not entirely obvious the first time which way in it should go and I found that it will take a card the wrong way (upside down). And once its in, its pretty darn hard to remove it again. Just glad I've not had these issues.
First - if the problem happened in the first 14 days (never mind how long ago that is now), T-Mob should replace it. I have found you have to argue with them but eventually they give up.
If not, did you not get the T-Mobile insurance? If so, make a claim for accidental damage?
i didnt take out insurance, so i guess i will have to argue my case.
i should get it back today so i will take it from there.
my missus even offered to join TMOBILE so i could get another phone as my bday present! but thats gonna b a last resort.
Basically the phone should not allow this to happen IMO

I agree - and it is an odd design (as is the flap which covers the relevant slots). Good luck.
well looks i have have had a result!
I got it back to day and its now working , however its a bit scratched
Tmobile are going to replace the handset!
Glad to hear they are finally doing the right thing. I was going to say, persist.
But its sorted now, so you can finally relax and enjoy your phone.
cheers for that chaps i was getting a bit stressed about it all!
i have been streaming live Tv via ORB on my high speed unlimited connection , SUPERB!

Flashing boot screen, Bell I9000, let's get it back to life!

Internal SD card failure - many of us on same boat now...It's clearly Samsung's fault, phone must be recalled, but, in the meanwhile, let's share your information - at which point your phone died; did you manage bring it back to life at all?
My phone died yesterday, after I've forced app.close few times (Skype).
I've upgraded to Froyo about 3 weeks ago, never had any problems till yesterday. Phone was all stock.
I bought phone on CL, so no receipt, no warranty
I was able to go to download mode, but not recovery mode.
I found this post, guy managed to bring phone back to life, but his method didn't help me
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s/235987-clueless.html
I've tried many times with no success.
But somehow I've managed first to pass flashing boot screen (animation with music, then phone hangs), then suddenly it loaded system with I19000xxJPM! Still shows no SD card space available, gives force close errors, but it works!
Mostly I was playing with XXJPU, re-partition, multifile, 512.pit,
I19000xxJPM, 803.pit, Yaok 1.50 with 803.pit (no re-partition), UGJH2 and 512.pit, reflashing one after another in different combinations
Few times I've seen recovery mode, but never was able to format SD card.
Update: I was even able to make JK3 to work - I flashed JK3 - boots through animation and comes to black screen, after this I've flashed Ya-ok 1.50 with 803.pit, it loads Froyo JK3, still can't format SD card though...
My questions for now - is there way to eliminate using internal SD card (use external SD card instead)? Is there non-standard ways of formatting SD card (when I try to do this in Settings - nothing happens)?
So far I've found this, but it sounds a little too complicated to me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845708#9316375
And it looks that this method is not for Bell Vibrant anyway...
Good luck!
It's extremely likely the internal SD has died and there's nothing you can do to fix that other than sending it into Bell.
Any idea how much they will charge for repair if phone is not under warranty (no receipt)?
if your a bell customer all u have to tell them is you bought a galaxy s off the market and after upgrade it died... the tech person never asked me for a receipt (bell one), he just asked me for the esn to make sure and asked me what happened to it...
said it died after the upgrade... he said already ill process a replacement for you and give you a 100 for inconvenience...
if you arent a bell customer (id suggest try to see if one of ur family members or friends is if you can get them to call for you... they get free hundred)... if not then u can call the samsung center and they send you a post package where u can send in for a replacement... no need for a receipt
I'm Bell customer, I've called today tech support, they offered replacement phone but asked me to send my phone with receipt...I've checked at Bell store today - my phone wasn't purchased at Bell store (they can check this). I guess bad luck...Same with Samsung (1-800-726-7864) - they also asked for receipt. Not sure what I can do now...
Has anyone without a receipt tried registering the phone and submitting a Product Service Request on samsung's website?
My phone is still working but I am afraid it is not going to last and I don't have a receipt myself.
I have registered my phone on Samsung's support website samsung.com/ca/mysamsung/product/myssMyProductRegist2.do?page=PRODUCT.REGISTRATION
It automatically found the manufacturing date by serial number. (August 31 for me)
Then I have an option to submit a Product Service Request and it says that attaching a receipt scanned image is recommended but not necessary.
Could someone try this out and post back the results?
Just wondering - there are so many custom ROMs, so, many guys smart enough to make changes in system . The only change we need - disable internal SD card in the system and force system to use external SD card instead. Anyone?
I've just noticed the funny thing - I can't access/mount/format external SD card either, even though it's not corrupted. So, the problem might be not internal SD card but faulty firmware or some other hardware (controller etc.)?

[Solved] HTC HD2 Touchscreen not working, not responding, frozen, malfunctioning

The Problem: My HTC HD2 touchscreen has progressively gotten worst over 2 months. At first, the keyboard was typing up wrong alphabets, then major function keys begun to malfunction, and later the whole screen. From XDA reviews, I found that changing Radio, WM, or Android ROM do not help.
Solution:
This instruction may apply to Tmobile USA users. In my search for a Do-It-Yourself fix, I searched internet for several days to no avail. Amazon.com sells Touchscreen and Digitizer but their results were inconsistent; the replacement also required time, skills & instruments that I do not have.
Tmobile: Tmobile (800 number) asked me to restore OS, but it did not work. They asked me to take it in the Tmobile store. The store associate looked at the phone, but they did not want to do anything with the phone as I did not buy my phone from Tmobile - they directed me to HTC or a local repair shop. Local repair shop was going to charge $100 for a repair and turn around time of 15 days.
HTC : I called HTC (888 356 2375). As the phone was still under warranty, they offered to take a look at it & repair it. HTC also mentioned that if the warranty is void for any reason, they would charge $39.00 for a triage fee and call me to confirm the repairing cost (in addition to triage fee). HTC mentioned that any illegal softwares found on the device would void the warranty.
Restore to OEM:
I had to restore my softwares to OEM as I installed a newer radio, HSPL, MAGLDR, and a custom windows ROM. To do so, following ROM was flashed :
RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50 .07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship
Flashing above ROM restored ORIGINAL OEM radio, SPL, and Windows ROM. It also removed MAGLDR.
After restoring softwares to OEM, I sent the phone in. The repair was done by HTC without any charge. After sending the phone in, I had my phone back in 1 week - fairly quick service compared to all the other options I had at hand.
In the process, HTC kept me informed via email regularly. I talked to several HTC reps and they were very accommodating and courteous. I mentioned to HTC that my battery drains very easily. Promptly (in 2 days), HTC sent me a replacement battery for free. They mentioned that as long as the phone is under warranty, they will replace accessories ONCE for free. I will buy HTC again despite the touchscreen problem.
Immediately after receiving the phone, I installed newest Radio, HSPL, MAGDLR & my first Android NAND [HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.4_NAND_ONLY_LEO1024_TOUS]. The android ROM is rocking even harder straight out of box.
Enjoy.
Had the same, perfect service from HTC.
Got it back in a box that said "im back" .. Took 4 weeks though.
This made my decision to stay with HTC in the future.
Same problem, possible not yet solved
My UK T-Mobile HD2 started this in December 2010, I found that 3 or 4 hard resets got it going, but the next day it did it again so sent to T-Mobile repair center, they stripped it put it back together. No Fault Found. Updated the firmware (well re-installed it as there was no newer version avaialble at the time and sent it back to me.
It worked a treat for 5 weeks then the problem was back. Sent away again, Firmware update. No Fault Found (T-Mobile had now released the 3.14 ROM) so I did get an update this time, again came back working. Even better this time as the new radio version allowed me to run an SD Android Build.
You know where this is going, lasted 3 or 4 weeks, same again, Back to T-Mobile Store, this time I did not try a hard reset prior to taking it in, so they could see the fault, I did one reset in store and the fault persisted as it always did after the first two or three, and then off to the repair centre again.
Its due back in the next day or two, No Fault Found!!! Firmware updated
I guess it will be going back again a 3 to 5 weeks.
Perhaps I should drop an e-mail to HTC to see if they can help.
Do you know what they did to yours, did they replace anything?
Cheers Bashy...
My display was soo broken that an firmware upgrade didnt help, not even for a second.
On the repair note (0eu) it said that my screen was replaced.
I had the same problems as in the OP.
Running beter then ever now.

No doubt, Tmobile attempts to be helpful. But, I consider HTC, as a manufacturer, to be well-prepared to deal with their own product's issues. If you have these problems repeatedly, I recommend you contact HTC directly. They may send you a new replacement instrument altogether. I had several positive surprises from HTC.
HTC No Longer Repairs HD2
I know this is an old thread, but I have an HD2 with a digitizer that quit working that I wanted fixed. I just called HTC and was told that they have not been able to find a proper way to fix the phone and that they would not be able to repair it even if I paid them. This came from the customer service manager. Both the service rep and I were left without words. He couldn't believe that this was the response as he has never heard of such a thing. HTC has taken the HD2 out of their repair database. Seems pretty sketchy to me. Obviously they know about the problem and it sounds like they should issue a recall on the product if it consistently breaks on people with normal use and they have no way of repairing it.
HD2 screen not working
They fixed mine on Feb 22, 2011 for free under a warranty. I suggest you do not give them the diagnosis of digitizer is not working. Instead, just tell them the problems you have and let them tell you what is wrong with the phone.
If is going to cost an arm and a leg to fix the phone or a 1 month of outage from cellphone, I recommend you get a new phone from Craigslist or eBay. HD2 are dirt cheap now. Good luck.
hd2 is dead

Yep - i'm not surprised. I purposely bought the HD2 to get dual boot setup. Lasted two months and then screen stopped responding when screen locked. Eventually could not unlock at all. I stripped the phone, put in new screen and digitiser and new keypad buttons and then flashed back to original rom too.
GUESS WHAT??? STILL BUSTED.
So you can try many fixes found online, but I reckon once it busted don't waste your money just bin it.

From what i've seen too, it is very difficult to actually repair the digitizer without causing new secondary problems. I paid my repair shop over 155 usd to repair an hd2 with usb and touchscreen problems and they just replaced the virtually the entire hd2 (mainboard+LCD+digitizer). And it still had problems in the end!

hey dood, i had nand on my US tmoble HD2 touch screen went out, i have a few posts you should follow if you are going for warranty.
i had to download the software from the tmoble website..... You will need an IMEL number for this ...... or go and try to find your stock rom on the interwebs...... have a secondary SD card (not the one in your phone) follow the SPECIFIC steps and drop your new file on the new sd card and replace it with the one in your phone then follw normal booting steps in the tri color screen.,..... i do have a post that is a quck rundown with a little bit more info........ but the main thing is.... if you send it for warranty you have to put YOUR (country/carrier specific) stock rom on or they will fully charge you....... hope this helps....... other than that its a phone issue i belive its the screen digitizers.... so if not under warranty thats what it will cost to fix
Thank you
Thank you. that helped me as well.

DT2: SD card says corrupted, won't format but works in every other device...

Well, after working without an issue since february both on LP and now MM, the phone is now saying the SD card (sandisk ultra 32gb HC I class 10) is corrupted and gives a notification to fix it. So, not wanting to lose all her pictures, videos and music on the card, I pop it in my laptop to see if it can be repaired. Windows 10 detected a problem, fixed it and I thought we were good. Put back in phone, says it's corrupted. Put in every other phone I have that I can and the card works totally fine. I put back in my computer, back up the entire card and then try the format (as external storage) on the DT2 but it fails with error command '57 volume partition disk:179,64 public' failed with '400 57 Command failed' . I have googled this and haven't come up with much other than other moto phones are having the issue too as well as some threads on xda for the X force but no one has an answer.
Anyone have any idea how to correct this? I have tried all 6 SD cards I own in the phone and all do the same thing but work totally fine in other phones so I know it's not the card. I have downloaded the software upgrade and repair tool from verizon and ran the repair with didn't help. I have read that others have FDR to no avail. I have also read that some have gotten replacement phones that reacted the exact same way. I formatted on my computer both quick and full and also formatted the card in another MM phone but nothing is working! This is obviously an issue with the phone firmware/software and once it fails to format, the phone doesn't recognize any SD card put in the phone until rebooted. Once rebooted, the phone again says it's corrupted but it's not recognized at all, meaning I can't even use a 3rd party app like sandisk's own to try to format. This is so frustrating.
I have a moto x force which doesnt recognise any sd cards out of the box but because bought from ebay i have no warranty to fall back on. I suggest iff you have a warranty you should send it back because i think some of these phones were shipped with a defective sd reader good luck.
had the same problem before. I restore the default rom and all is good.
Sent from my XT1580 using Tapatalk
I did that too flashed the official rom again but still a no go.
I don't have the ability to clean flash the official software on the DT2. All I have is the Verizon software upgrade/repair utility which I already ran the repair. Is it likely that this is an actual hardware issue?
I have the exactly same issue.
Motorola representative asked me to take my phone do a repair service but that's not an option here because their authorized repair service says everything is water damage so they don't honor the warranty. I have this issue for months now, still waiting for an update since I belive it's software related.
I can't recommend this phone or Motorola to anyone.
It's not software related I can tell you that because I flashed cm12.1 after rooting my x force and still sd card not working.
I did an "Advanced" RMA through moto's website. Got the replacement last week and the same SD card that the other phone said was corrupted has been working fine. It's definitely hardware related. I sent my wife's phone back to moto and it should be there this Friday. If they try to tell me it's water or physical damage, I don't know what I'll do. I checked everything before I sent it back and there was no signs of water damage and only normal wear and tear for the few bumps and drops it took. No cracked screen or camera lens, there are some scratches and indentations on the shattershield top layer and some marks on the metal rim. To me, that is normal wear and tear for a phone they market as being able to withstand much more abuse than that. We'll see but again, the replacement is working fine.
Side note: I do think it's sort of BS that in order to get a warranty replacement that is how my wife designed the phone, we have to pay moto $25 to send a replacement and have a hold on a CC for $250. On top of that, it took them 4 business days to send it out. If she had just a standard black one, could have replaced direct through vzw, gotten it next day shipping and paid nothing for it and no hold on a CC.
Because I bought mine from eBay they won't honour the warranty whatsoever so I'm stuck with 30gb. Lucky I don't need more than about 20gb.
