update 3.2.1 - Acer Iconia A500

hello
i have notifications of an update on my acer iconia a 500
and when i'm update the tab it stuck's in the instalation
i have now these rom
acer7.006.01_CUST_ROOT_BBv2_S
with root!
and i want to keep on it because i can mount hdd's..
so ther's a rom with the update+root+option to mount hdd's?
by the way it's include hebrew ui?because till now i never saw an rom with hebrew ui
thanks

hello, there's no need for a custom Rom in order to be able to mount An USB hdd. I use stock Rom,not rooted and use a 500 gb 2.5 hdd

are you sure???
so where i can find the update?because when it's start to install it's stuck in the instalation

Or you can just install a pre-rooted 3.2.1 ROM from the DEV forum

so....i think that if ther's no use for the Root in my tablet because the hdd's can connect without root so...can i go back to stock?and to make unroot?

How to flash update package :
Once the desired file downloaded, you have to use Acer Update Decryter to decrypt them.
After decrypting the file, you have to extract the update.zip from it, put it on an external SDCard (does not work on internal memory) and boot your tablet with Vol- & Power. The update will be launch automatically.
thank you very much i'm updating.
the file i choose Acer_A500_0.000.00_1.016.02_COM_GEN1

Kernel 2.6.36.3-00001-gf991e5d
Build Acer_A500_1.016.04_COM_GEN1

Hi,
I bought my Iconia in Thailand and was disappointed that it didn't have thai language support, but I've tried many different ROMs and I am now using Virtuous Galaxy which is a great ROM, 3.1 from Samsung Tablet and it has full support for the Thai Language

Hi Akabana, try this one megaupload.com/?d=Z60CA8FN for Acer_A500_0.000.00_1.016.01_COM_GEN1
now I restore back to 016.01 success
next I will update to my default fw Acer_A500_1.016.01_1.139.04_COM_GEN1
Finally I can't update my a500 from 016.01 to 139.04 :-(
Now, I found that original firmware in Thailand is Acer_A500_1.016.04_COM_GEN1 not Acer_A500_1.016.01_COM_GEN1

[Q] Help "boot verified falied"

Can anyone help me with my a500,i have a stock 3.1 i update ota 3.2,but i have see that for 3.2 no root avaible and I tried to go back to 3.1 with this rom Acer_A500_0.000.00_1.016.02_COM_GEN1 now the a500 is bricked and if i turn on it i have this text "boot verified falied" please help me
I had this going last night... really honked me off. Turns out they changed the book code a bit so you cant go back.
IF your hard set on going back there is the unbrick method all over the internet but of course it will kill all your data.
OR just goto the updtes/OTA thread here and get the 3.2 update file and pop it on your SDcard and then boot up and reflash the current (not loosing data) and your system will post fine.

Not possible to go back to HC that easy , see in the guide I posted , there is a link to a thread on how to.
And you don't need to flash the light version A500 rom from the guide thread as you are already on the ICS bootloader because you flashed the ICS leak.
Just so you know that 1.031.00 leak is what Acer is pushing out as OTA so you are not missing any thing.
See this line of my guide:
You can also flash the full leaked version of 1.031.00 but then you need to get root so you can delete "recovery-from-boot.p" from /system before you flash the unlocked booloader and custom recovery.
If you feel insecure better to flash full leak that way you get the stock recovery.
civato as we are talking recovery's is it safe to just flash the ICS update as a update.zip with CWM still on the tab or should i replace it with the acer recovery first?

Thanks Civato,
I manage to go back to HC which I got a back-up file in my CMW in my SDCARD ....after I installed the boot thingy V3 I regain the CMW recovery...then I just fully restored to my HC 3.2.1 com_gen2. After that I still manage to retain the V3 thingy boot & CMW recovery... Also, i got the official OTA & I'm running ICS now . Thank you so much. xoxoxooxx

[Q] - Manual Update from Stock 3.2.1 to Stock ICS

Hi All,
So I'm tired of my stock 3.2.1 flipping between the "Your Device is Up to Date" and "Poor Network Coverage" messages when checking for the ICS update.
I current have:
Acer_A500_7.014.14_COM_GEN1
Through this wonderful forum, I downloaded:
Acer_A500_7.014.14_041.203.01_COM_GEN1_1333444737199_8ec8b991.zip
I found out it was encrypted, so I downloaded the Acer decrypting tool and unzipped it.
So with that said, I have a few questions:
1) Will this release of ICS work with my current device?
2) If yes, how do I update my stock 3.2.1 to ICS? Do I need to root it before I can update it, or can I simply copy the update to an SD/USB Stick and update from there?
3) Do I need to decrypt the install, or can I use the encrypted version?
Or should I simply stop being so damn impatient and just wait for the OTA?
Thanks.
Have you been back to the Market (Play Store) and installed the recent Enhancement Update to the Acer Update Readiness Tool? Should allow you to connect to those "lazy" servers.
Hello,
I just did the manual install to ICS myself that way:
1) dowload the ICS update you mentionned
2) decrypt the zip with the acer decrypt tool
3) only extract the update.zip in the decripted zip to the root of the external sd
4) shutdown the tablet and restart it pressing both power + volume dow button which start the update automatically
Ps: a good thing is that this update does not wipe existing intalled apps or existing data
Hope this helps
is this the official ics rom update
Is this the official rom update to is?

Thanks.....I tried it, and the process appeared to start ok. But after about 30 seconds the Android robot showed up with an exclamation point in a triangle.
So maybe this update was not for my system. I guess I'll just be patient and wait for the OTA upgrade.
(and yes, I do have the tab enhancement installed in case anyone is wondering).

Forgot to mention, just before updating to ICS, i tried to use another 3.2 stock rom to see if OTA was working better, so maybe this update to the other 3.2 rom is also necessary. The 3.2 stock rom i've used is this one: Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2 available in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878

*** FIXED!!!!!! ***
I found out the SD card type is VERY IMPORTANT!!!
When I initially tried to install the ICS update from a generic SD card I would get the robot / exclamation / triangle error (I was using a Patriot 8GB SDHC Class 4 card).
I then tried using a Sandisk 2GB MicroSD card - UPDATE SUCCESSFUL!
I didn't have to use a Stock 3.2.1 image or anything - I just went straight to 4.0.3.
My new build number is ACER_AV041_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1 with Android version 4.0.3 of ICS goodness.
Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas and who posted on other sites!
EDIT - So I installed it, but then I had the dreaded DHCP-Wifi reboot problem. I fixed it by doing a factory reset, and all is good.

hi scuba just been talking to acer and if you get bad connection on screen they say do a factory reset but i am waiting for a good signal cause a factory reset will wipe the lot and if u have 50 odd apps then you will be in for a long haul reinstalling also the ics firmware update will be rolling out after may 1st as it was put back do to bug fixing and they wanna get u.k devices up and running with no hitch also the playstore app people insist on downloading will force close apps and the tab will go crazy and then you have to reinstall apps ect i have heard so many tales dont do it unless you want to also this bootloader root thing dont do it man it will either make the tab useless and invalidate your warranty if u still have 1 many thanks ps i will wait for the ics firmware and do a system update from the tab cya happy days

Hi,
I met the same problem here and I don't understand where the solution is supposed to be in the post pointed by dibb_nz. I don't want to go back to factory stock, I want to make CM10 pjsports's rom boot
thanks in advance to the kind hearted flok that will point out what I'm missing here ^^
I think you should try this: http://forum.tegraowners.com/viewtopic.php?p=1005#p1005
Gesendet von meinem A501 mit Tapatalk 2
Guys, if u try to flash an ics/jb Rom or recovery you must
already.have nvflashed the patch ed bootloaded.
If the answer velos posted doesn't work, you will have to return
to stock,,then flash the BL .....and then flash yr Rom.
Thanks guys ! I finally figured it out myself but dibb_nz's solution is the one that was right : I was simply missing the good bootloader.
I found out by poking arround other posts.
What I did is : put back an OTA 3.2 rom then use Afterota to install the correct bootloader then I could install my 4.1 rom and launch it !
Thanks again.
