anyone have a restore file (Full restore) for A500 in Thailand
I try Acer_A500_0.000.00_1.016.01_COM_GEN1 in link http://cdn.acer.futuredial.com/Acer_A500_0.000.00_1.016.02_COM_GEN1_1300976069475_9bbd8228.zip
from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
But can't open file may be file is damage
Can I use Different such as Acer_A500_0.000.00_1.016.01_COM_GEN1
How to flash update package :
Once the desired file downloaded, you have to use Acer Update Decryter to decrypt them.
After decrypting the file, you have to extract the update.zip from it, put it on an external SDCard (does not work on internal memory) and boot your tablet with Vol- & Power. The update will be launch automatically.
thank you very much i'm updating.
the file i choose Acer_A500_0.000.00_1.016.02_COM_GEN1
is right for thailand?

And I went floor 3 at Acer Dealer, they have a tablet, the version is
Kernel 2.6.36.3-00001-gf991e5d
Build Acer_A500_1.016.04_COM_GEN1
so I am sure the version from THAILAND is this one.

Just Copy the update.zip to ur Micro-sd. Then shut down device.
Press both power button + Volume (-) to run recovery.
I mean Kernel not Rom T_T
Ops Sorry. To install Kernel there are lot of them in the first page. But why do u want to install Kernel? I think that u want to back to original ROM for Official OTA.
^^ first that i want to back 3.0 because i want to update by acer to 3.1.
but in facebook acer thailand have many people that update to 3.1 by acer
have a problem. Now I choose to use custom and kernel from this web site ^^
It fast and fun than update by acer . I can try many rom and kernel.
Thank you for answer me hope you can understand my English we also Thai ^^
You have MSN? If have can you tell me.
Thai Language
Hi,
I bought my Iconia in Thailand and was disappointed that it didn't have thai language support, but I've tried many different ROMs and I am now using Virtuous Galaxy which is a great ROM, 3.1 from Samsung Tablet and it has full support for the Thai Language

Hi Akabana, try this one megaupload.com/?d=Z60CA8FN for Acer_A500_0.000.00_1.016.01_COM_GEN1
now I restore back to 016.01 success
next I will update to my default fw Acer_A500_1.016.01_1.139.04_COM_GEN1
Finally I can't update my a500 from 016.01 to 139.04 :-(
Now, I found that original firmware in Thailand is Acer_A500_1.016.04_COM_GEN1 not Acer_A500_1.016.01_COM_GEN1

Can anyone help me with my a500,i have a stock 3.1 i update ota 3.2,but i have see that for 3.2 no root avaible and I tried to go back to 3.1 with this rom Acer_A500_0.000.00_1.016.02_COM_GEN1 now the a500 is bricked and if i turn on it i have this text "boot verified falied" please help me
I had this going last night... really honked me off. Turns out they changed the book code a bit so you cant go back.
IF your hard set on going back there is the unbrick method all over the internet but of course it will kill all your data.
OR just goto the updtes/OTA thread here and get the 3.2 update file and pop it on your SDcard and then boot up and reflash the current (not loosing data) and your system will post fine.

Hi my friend i have other 2 question ,waht file i have download and after download i extract update.zip and put on micro sd?The use the stock cwm?
Well I used: Acer_A500_4.010.38_7.006.01_COM_GEN1 and I am thinking the file was already decrypted so was just a matter of renaming it to update.zip and putting it on the sdcard and booting to recovery.
Ok so I started out with an x5 running an oxygen ROM ( unsure what one as its been awhile) with a full battery.
1. I then went to install the Aurora ICS 2.0.5 after doing all the wipes needed went to load and all i got was a system that fuctioned but not network service and no battery charging and the device showing 1% battery (it was full to start with).
2. I also tried the Elite.SX.Second.Release-FIXED.by.TerraMino.2012-03-29 ROM (all wipes done) just to get the same things happening
also tried to install and older Oxygen ROMs , oxygen 2.2.2 - 2.3.2 all wipes done) but the device didnt boot.
3. So then I tried a stock ROM via the dload method by puting this [11.07.28]_U8800_V100R001C17B162CUSTC17D001_(China_Unicom)(also another stock ROM I dont remember which) UPDATE.APP on the SD card (Cant put the UPDATE.APP on to internal memory as it is to large) then went to boot into the "pink screen" but nothing happened (both ROM's). Also tried many methods to try to get it to work.
4. After that I thought I would try Miui Prime v3 - by LegoLaSH (done all wipes and formats needed) once it booted I got no network service and battery at 0% although it is Full before starting. Also no battery charging while device is on.
5. I figured Id try ( althoug I guessed it wouldnt work)to install an Oxygen ROM first then install Elite.SX.Second.Release-FIXED.by.TerraMino.2012-03-29 ROM streight after it without wipes , still the same problems as installing the elite ROM alone.
So now Im here and stuck. Is there no flasher for Hauwei phones? oranother way I can get a ROM on the device? Its not my Phone its my partners.
Also its not the First Phone I have ever installed a custom ROM on although seems to be the hardest.
If any idea or more info needed please post.
thanks alot.

You need to install the official 2.3 rom before installing any of those roms.

Are you sure you put the UPDATE.APP inside the dload folder which is in the root of the sdcard? I never heard of this not working.
I am not sure which files the official 2.3 rom updates, but wouldn't it be possible to copy them from an updated U8800?

I had a freshly formated SD card with no other files or folders and I had the UPDATE.APP in a folder named dload on the SD card.
Is that not the right way?
You need to update to OFFICIAL 2.3.5 (you were updating to 2.2). You can get it here:http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDQzNTg=
This is porbably most repetead sentence in this forum and is also written in every ROM thread. Oygen was working beacuse its .32 kernel and the newer ROMs are .35 kernel and need to update to OFFICIAL 2.3.5 before flashing. If you would search a little you would find it in less than a minute.
Here is guide how to root and install recovery on official 2.3.5:

All the instructions for updating with dload method are in the pdf that is in the zip you downloaded from huawei page.

The UPDATE.APP file is only around 300 megs so will easily fit on your internal 2Gb memory so sounds like your trying to copy it to the pink screen memory which is wrong!

Also the Huawei link is giving me an Service Temporarily Unavailable message , and has since the other day , if you can upload it somewhere or anybody , I can download it then.
I think the problem is that he has a custom partition layout for the internal emmc, that needs to be reset to the default before installing the update.

Ok I have tried both return-to-stock partition and 1.2G DATA + 1.46G INTERNAL SD file , I still cant get the internal SD to show on 2 computers.

Dzo is probably right about the partition layout of your internal mmc. But probably you cannot fix it with geno's method. I would suggest you to check this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579366
Also it seems to me that you have the imei=0 problem when you updated from 2.2.2 to 2.3.5 (no network - battery 1% or 0% are common problems)
And try not to flash different kernel based roms without upgrading/downgrading to the appropriate kernel, as this probably has damaged your phone.
Hope that helps

Hi All,
So I'm tired of my stock 3.2.1 flipping between the "Your Device is Up to Date" and "Poor Network Coverage" messages when checking for the ICS update.
I current have:
Acer_A500_7.014.14_COM_GEN1
Through this wonderful forum, I downloaded:
Acer_A500_7.014.14_041.203.01_COM_GEN1_1333444737199_8ec8b991.zip
I found out it was encrypted, so I downloaded the Acer decrypting tool and unzipped it.
So with that said, I have a few questions:
1) Will this release of ICS work with my current device?
2) If yes, how do I update my stock 3.2.1 to ICS? Do I need to root it before I can update it, or can I simply copy the update to an SD/USB Stick and update from there?
3) Do I need to decrypt the install, or can I use the encrypted version?
Or should I simply stop being so damn impatient and just wait for the OTA?
Thanks.
Have you been back to the Market (Play Store) and installed the recent Enhancement Update to the Acer Update Readiness Tool? Should allow you to connect to those "lazy" servers.
Hello,
I just did the manual install to ICS myself that way:
1) dowload the ICS update you mentionned
2) decrypt the zip with the acer decrypt tool
3) only extract the update.zip in the decripted zip to the root of the external sd
4) shutdown the tablet and restart it pressing both power + volume dow button which start the update automatically
Ps: a good thing is that this update does not wipe existing intalled apps or existing data
Hope this helps

Thanks.....I tried it, and the process appeared to start ok. But after about 30 seconds the Android robot showed up with an exclamation point in a triangle.
So maybe this update was not for my system. I guess I'll just be patient and wait for the OTA upgrade.
(and yes, I do have the tab enhancement installed in case anyone is wondering).

Forgot to mention, just before updating to ICS, i tried to use another 3.2 stock rom to see if OTA was working better, so maybe this update to the other 3.2 rom is also necessary. *** FIXED!!!!!! ***
I found out the SD card type is VERY IMPORTANT!!!
When I initially tried to install the ICS update from a generic SD card I would get the robot / exclamation / triangle error (I was using a Patriot 8GB SDHC Class 4 card).
I then tried using a Sandisk 2GB MicroSD card - UPDATE SUCCESSFUL!
I didn't have to use a Stock 3.2.1 image or anything - I just went straight to 4.0.3.
My new build number is ACER_AV041_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1 with Android version 4.0.3 of ICS goodness.
Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas and who posted on other sites!
EDIT - So I installed it, but then I had the dreaded DHCP-Wifi reboot problem. I fixed it by doing a factory reset, and all is good.

Dear members,
First of all, I'm searching several forum sites (such as tegraowners and others) but I couldn't find the answers, so I'd like to request help from here..
The problem is about my Acer Iconia A500 tablet.. I bought it from a friend by second hand.
It is only has in English version and I'd like to convert it to Turkish language..
As I seen, my Acer's firmware is currently: Acer_Av401_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1
Build Number: Acer_AV041_A500_1.033.00_PA_CUS1
Kernel version: 2.6.39.4+
Android version: 4.0.3
and I read that this rom doesn't have Turkish language, so I must change it..
And I must say, I don't have the PC cable so if it is possible to flash via ext-sdcard, it'll be perfect..
*** Surprisingly, I noteiced that mini-usb connector cable is as same as my LG G2 connector cable, and when I connect it, my PC detect A500.. I think I can flash it by the cable way then... ***
I tried something such as:
Downloaded ...
Acer_AV041_A500_1.054.00_WW_GEN1-DEODEXED-FULLROOT.zip
Acer_AV041_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1-FULL-ROOT-DEODEXED.zip
Acer_AV041_A500_1.054.00_WW_GEN1-FULL-ROOT.zip
Acer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1.zip
... files from several articles. And copy them (by one by) to ext-sdcard
with update.zip name. Then trying to boot with Volume(-)&Power buttons, it says update.zip found then
a green Android appears and starting to roll but immediately, this green android kills and an (!) symbol appears on it.
I tried all these flash files as the same method but everytime finished with the same result.
I find my serial number (via terminal emulator - dmesg command) and as I seen it's bootloader_ver=0.03.12-ICS (ICS bootloader??)..
Please suggest me, which rom must have I use for flashing update.zip method?
I actually doesn't need to be rooted, just need for Turkish language but if it is possible, rooting should be better..
Any help will be appreciated.. Thanks..
Wow! I think I've just made it
I've installed CWM Recovery first with APX Flasher..
Then take a Full backup via CWM (I know it becuase I'd used it in my Samsung phone before)..
After all, I've retry to install my previously downloaded WW_GEN1 rom..
It's worked ant it'is now supports Turkish
By the way, it is being downloaded it's system update from the net automatically but it's not installed successfully.. I think it's normal... Anyway it was not necessary also..
Thank you for your articles and informations..
for those who face problem like my x820 that didn't show upgrade, update on their phone, just download the latest firmware eui5.8 ,then enter the file manager and rename to update.zip.
as u click the update.zip there is an option for update. enjoy.... its kindda weird that the original firmware not include update on Chinese version though.. i recommend update eui5.8 india. u wont face a Chinese apps language problem later...

I have X820 Chinese ROM since the day I purchased my phone and haven't touched the ROM since. If I update to the newest India ROM, will I lose all apps and data? Or will it just flash like an update and not affect data and apps?
You can make updating manually over stock recovery or custom recovery. It is very easy work.
But will I lose my apps and data or not?

I don't have tons of experience on this device yet...
but when I installed 16S onto 15S and was ready to loose the work I had already done (installed quite a few apps, not yet tons of data or settings), I didn't lose any app nor data (including Google setup and WLAN hotspots). However the 16S variant couldn't handle German, so most things came out in an odd mixture of English and Chinese.
I changed the language to English and had the Chinese parts translate to English as well, which I considered helpful.
16S is loaded with LeTV specific stuff which is all about pushing chinese LeTV content and which turned out difficult to disable, mostly because I couldn't tell which parts were important (can't read Chinese), so I quickly decided I needed to go back to the original "international" version, which still mixes some English into other European languages.
I didn't actually have a 15S ROM image, so I can't tell if a downgrade works as seamlessly, instead I restored my TWRP recovery.
That deactivated my WLAN, which gave me a couple of horrible moments, but a second restore (perhaps including EFF) got it back and I hesitate to repeat the procedure for a more detailled analysis of what happened to the WLAN.
Good Job..!
Thanks for the Advise :good:

as u click the update.zip there is an option for update. enjoy.... its kindda weird that the original firmware not include update on Chinese version though.. i recommend update eui5.8 india. u wont face a Chinese apps language problem later...
