Request: Voice call on umts900 let the atrix reboot

Hi everybody,
Thanks to all developer here to make the atrix an amazing phone and I'm using it happily. However, the service provider that I'm using have a problem with HSDPA voice call problem.
1. If I use *#*#4636#*#* and choose GSM only, the phone is working properly. (showing the signal is EDGE)
2. If I use GSM auto(PRL), the logo of the network will change from edge to H+, I can browser the internet, download from the market and sent sms. However, if I answer a phone call or make a phone call, it can be connected with no sound and even if I press on the speaker. Sometime it reboot after the call is connected around 5 seconds...
I just wondering is it a problem of UMTS900 problem? Becoz there is several provider in Hong Kong but the one that I'm using is using UMTS900 for HSDPA/3G.
If anyone know how or any suggestion to fix it please kindly let me know about it...

OMG I got the same problem.
Any way to include UMTS 900 into the Atrix?
How to fix
Hehe I had this issue too when I first got the phone. You can search the Atrix forums for modem panic if you wish more information.
If you just want to fix it: flash any new radio that is not stock. Originally I fixed it by flashing the Telstra radio, but I have not had this issue with the Orange, HKTW nor AT&T 4.5.91 radio's, so anything you flash should be OK.
So: download a radio image from the dev section, start phone in RSD-mode (volup) and flash the image with RSD-lite.
Enjoy HSPA + phonecalls

[Q] Help - can't get service using Brazilian SBF

Hi Everyone,
I recently flashed the Brazilian MS2 SBF (was using Australian Vodafone ROM) in an attempt to get 3G working here in Canada (Rogers; 850/1900).
When I flashed the Brazilian SBF, I was able to get a connection very briefly before getting an error that my SIM is not authorized for this network.
Does the Brazilian ROM institute some sort of SIM-lock? If so, has anyone got around it? I haven't had any problems with UK, Australia or original Chinese ROM (phone eBay'd from HK)
Is it confirmed that the MS2 can in fact properly baseband switch from 900/2100 to 850/1900?
Thank you for your time and help!

u should find ur answer here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940828&highlight=brazilian+sbf
I had a look at that thread earlier.. but no avail. Actually it turns out they released several Milestone 2s, and not all of them are tri-band 3G. Some are dual - this is the risk of getting these phones early off of eBay. Mine is 900/2100 3G - I need 850/1900 3G. Stuck with ****ty EDGE until either 1) I move to a new country 2) my phone carrier changes infrastructure - both not happening soon.
Thanks

Fellow TELUS defy user here.
The answer: No, at least not at this time.
But, you can use most roms and sbfs AS LONG AS THEY ARE ROOTABLE.
This is because you will need the basebandswitcher tool (search that up)
for most roms to get proper cell service.
If you start flashing roms and sbfs, it is helpful to use the China ME722 1.10 baseband or other basebands with frequency 850/1900/2100 I think.
DONT USE ANY T-MOBILE USA BASEBANDS, YOU WILL GET ROAMING.
That's all.

This is the baseband I'm using - works perfectly.
Incidentally, if you're keen on trying the new CM9 builds, the baseband switcher is built in to the "settings" screen under "Advanced".

I think I have this problem too after I tried (unsuccessfully) to root my phone. Now I can only get some networks (Tmobile & Orange) but not my network (Talkmobile, which piggybacks Vodafone). I've been googling around about this for a while and I think it may be that I need to cahange my baseband. Current ver is EPU93_U_00.60.03. But I don't know how to do this. Any help to a noobe would be much appreciated...

You could try with Baseband Switcher 4, and select your baseband...Then you have to set the APN.

[Q] How to set up my Defy for Vodafone New Zealand

Fist time at this. I have read many threads, they have provided some help but not enough to make me feel confident.
I gather I need to first root the phone;
I downloaded Defy Rooter (Droid2root)- My virus protection says Rage against the cage is a trojan. Is this a false positive?
Assuming it is safe, how do I run it. It has 4 files; busybox, rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin, su, and Superuser.apk
Once it is rooted I need to change the baseband. - This is my problem with the phone. It was originally purchased as a Telecom New Zealand phone (not by me)
As it is I can use the phone only on 2G or 3G when in the main citys. I cannot get the extended 3G which covers most of the country.
Vodafone NZ uses: GSM/2G/GPRS 900/1800mhz WCDMA/UMTS/HSPA 900/2100mhz (Telecom NZ is 850/1900)
I gather I then use the baseband switcher Tool
How do I use this?
Stupid question-- Do I do all this from my PC with the defy plugged into the USB?
Phone info MB525
Android 2.2.2
Baseband info EPU93_u_00.59.02
Kernal version 2.6.32.9-ga8343de
[email protected] 12#1
Build 3.4.2-145
it has the Bayer Camera
I tried to avoid posting this and searched the forum many times but I still need help.
Thanks Ken
Surly someone can help.
Help Please

Bump, Help please
You mean to ask how to change baseband right?
Ever try this yet? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052745
And Defy with HSPA 850/2100 can't use HSPA 900, no matter what baseband you change. It's in hardware.

Thanks, Yes have seen this but I need to get root access first to get the files to send him.
Didn't you get your device rooted? Then look for SuperOneClick, easy to use but got false detect by antivirus so disable them first.

Have now got it rooted. Next step Base Band Switch
Question: Is the Base Band Switcher run from the Defy or from a PC
I can find plenty about it but this is not mentioned. Probably a stupid question.
Do I try any set up that has the required frequencies or do I need a set specific to my area ie New Zealand and Carrier Vodafone?
Thanks in advance
It's android app (apk) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052745
Try finding your country and your baseband, or it could be any that work for you, just try.
Solved...hopfully. Need to leave the home area to confirm.
Thanks the assistance. I had all the required files, just had not worked out how to put them on the defy.
Now have CWM installed and baseband switcher.
Turns out my baseband was on Singapore/ Indonesia. Am trying the Cent Europe one. It looks like the correct bands I need 900/2100
We will see.
Thanks intemptesta
You got me onto the right track
