[Q] Where to buy huawei u8800 pro smartphone? - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I am considering in purchasing a Huawei u8800 pro smartphone. However I could not find any stores selling this device online. I have checked out amazon, play, ebay and many others. Looking for stores preferably located and ships to EU.
Alternatively, I will go for San francisco II. Any comments or recommendations in this regard?.
Thanks.

I've got only one true answer to you. Don't buy it...
EDIT: ...Or if u buy it, prepare to say "goodbye" to anykind of customer service. If u don't care about customer service, its a really good phone...
U should think about buying the normal u8800 (atleast if u can get it cheaper than the pro)

euronics.it (vodafone sells only the pro version in italy)

As long as I do not encounter with any hardware related issues than customer service is secondary. I am highly IT literate.
I am looking after the pro due to the 1GHZ CPU vs 800MHz.
If the specs are correct, the huauei support wi-fi n variant whilst the San Francisco supports older versions. Also the screen should be slightly crisper and better?
Pricewise the X5 is slight more expensive but that is ok.
Any other recomendations appreciated.
Thx for the feedback above

If customer service isn't too important for you, I can recommend the u8800/pro for you.I have no problems with the phone running on stock rom. But I should mention that I have the u8800 (non-pro). For me, money was a point so I bought the normal u8800. If I really need more power, there is a thing called O-V-E-R-C-L-O-C-K- ;D.
AFAIK the u8800 CPU is rated at 800-1000MHz by the manufacturer.
The u8800 pro CPU is rated @ 1000 MHz

It seems to me like they care more about U8800Pro, they provide updates faster and U8800 is like a little brother who gets his older brother's clothes.

it is true. the fact that an important carrier like vodafone sells it in italy and others carriers brought this phone in europe is relevant, so i think huawei will consider the pro version more important than the u8800.
i have the stock 2.3.5 rom (beta version) with root + cwm + custom .35 kernel by geno + FPS unlocked and i haven't any issue (i am using this rom since 2 weeks ago).

AFAIK there are 2 versions of the zte blade. One with amoled and one with lcd.The screen of the u8800 is slightly bigger (0.3 inches)
One of my friends has the blade. Everything I can say is that they are playing in another league.
But the screen of the blade (amoled) had pretty nice colors though...

You basicly have it already. The Desire only has 2 differences a 8mp camera and 8gb of onboard memory.
the differences are important between desire and Incredible
if those are the only differences why is there a whole nouther forum??? Just curious.
Well I dunno if it is true for the Desire, but the Incredible has a different, screen that has a more accurate multi-touch sensor, and looks a bit nicer too(at least that what Cnet said for the last part).

Consider that Cnet has not reviewed a Desire either. So we cannot use them for compairison.
Why would they decide to not release a phone to 30-35% of their market audience over something so trivial as the phone radio?
Seriously guys, this is like saying they won't release in europe because they can't be *rsed to change the Charger voltage from 120v to 230v
The better multi-tocuh sensor is what does it for me. If the released a GSM version of the phone I'd by one as soon as I could.
But yea, they must be off making the GSM version maybe? Hence the lack of European release.
want to see incredible in europe....;(...
..
its not coming in europe. buy a desire, and get over it.
Are you all serious?
It isn't coming to europe.
This is like living somewhere that doesn't sell diesel fuel, then asking when they will bring the Volkswagen TDI over (which only runs on diesel) because it gets 50mpg.
They can just change the engine... and the drive computer... and the transmission, fuel pumps, tank, etc... but thats easy.... And NOT bringing it over, they're missing out on a huge potential market!
There might be an EU version of the Incredible (although I've heard of no such news). Just keep a lookout for the HTC "Incroyable" =p.
The Incredible is a VZW exclusive , no other carrier will ever get it.

Wildfire or San Francisco?

Hi, I bought my Wildfire for something like £230 unlocked a while ago and I've just seen a phone for about £100, the Orange San Francisco.
I was wondering if the phone is worth it. I mean, my Wildfire does the job, but I need my phone mainly for emails and web browsing, and the resolution of the Wildfire just isn't really up to scratch for web browsing...
What do you suggest I do? Because I've looked and I can only really sell my Wildfire for about £90 nowadays...
The specs of the Orange San Francisco (ZTE Blade) are far higher than the Wildfire, be it the screen, its res, CPU, RAM and GPU.
So, if you are able to go for that, I would suggest you get it.
Except for the 5mp camera with LED flash on the Wildfire vs. the 3.2 mp camera with no flash on the ZTE.
The San Fransisco is good but one thing the wildfire excels in is its build quality which the Blade will not come close to. Also, the San Fransisco or Blade has many fewer and updated ROMS than the Wildfire.
Is the san Francisco using froyo?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
official froyo for the blade isn't out yet, and there's only i think 1-2 froyo roms out ofr it now.
Okay, do you know if it is confirmed that an official version will be released?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
As far as i remember Froyo has been released in Chinnese yet so upgrade in other countries should be avaliable soon.
Because of this Chinnes froyo we have other roms which are based on .
the sf does have the qualcomm msm 7227 which can run angry birds and is faster unlike the wildfires msm 7225
I would look out for the LG's like:
LG Optimux x2
Seems like a nice phone. and usualy LG's aren't too expensive.
Screen res is 800 x 480
The HTC does have sense which is the best android overlay
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Sense is good, but I'm using launcher pro at the moment anyway...
I will have to look into those phones.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire
But Sense it's way to intrusive, I'm starting to hate it.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I like sense because it has many onboard htc apps and widgets which just look amazing. Cant imagine to download all the extra apps like ringtone trimmer...

I picked up a Desire for 230 on ebay in mint condition with 16 gb card do if your can get a good deal on there or gumtree that would perhaps be better on the long run
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
My gf has a San francisco, I have a wildfire. I picked up my WF for £130 on voda, and then got it unlocked, you can get the OSF for £100 and unlock it for free.
The hardware of the OSF blows the WF out of the water; it's quicker and has a much better screen, but the build quality and the camera are absolutely shocking. The OSF also has some annoying niggles, like the WiFi going to sleep bug.
There are plenty of froyo roms to choose from on the OSF - 15 at the last count, some better than others of course - Check the modaco forums, excellent community for it.
All in all, they both have their upsides and downsides - I wouldn't swap my WF for the OSF, but it's a near run thing.
Thanks for that post, very useful. Which is why is was thinking of using both phones... which would help since I could then have business one, and personal one (wildfire with friendstream etc). But is sf a 'lasting' phone? Or is it worth investing a little more to get a better built phone?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire
Dont you have a standard 2 year warranty? So long as you dont flash the phone with custom firmware (not a requirement for the SF, works great out of the box + official froyo is coming up soon) doesnt really matter if it was made by HTC ZTE or at your best friends basement you take it back to the authorized service center and its their problem to fix it.
Plus, if you screw it up out of warranty you lose 100 pounds instead of 220 ;D
I'd say if you've got the cash then get something better, but if you are on a budget then the san Francisco is great. You won't get more bang for your buck.

[Q] Is the ZTE Crescent still the best replacement for the Blade?

Hi guys,
I'm just wondering if the Crescent still remains the best replacement for the Blade.
Do we know if there are any other worthy budget alternatives being released within the next few months?

Saaransh recently posted a camera fix
I own both phones and my opinion is the crescent is faster and has a better camera including a front facing one but it is more bulky in the pocket slightly harder to unlock has not that many roms at the moment and is a finger print magnet. The blade is now equal when it comes to game play has loads more roms , feels nicer in your pocket and a massive following and help. So if you what to upgrade the crescent really isn't much of one. I am back to using my blade.
Sent from my ZTE-BLADE using Tapatalk 2
Might be better off buying one of last year's good phones instead, you should be able to get something with ARMv7 (so all apps & games work) for a similar price, or not much more, maybe a 2nd hand Nexus S or something.
Well I love my Blade. I run Swedish Snow on it and it's rock solid and stable, and does what I need.
But I think that the Blade is reaching its hardware limits. Most modern phones are ultra smooth and responsive even with stock ROMs. I wouldn't mind an upgrade to a phone with better hardware specs. A larger screen may also be a good idea.
I don't live in the UK, but I have the opportunity to get a San Francisco II since a friend of mine is traveling there within the next week. I am just wondering if it's worthwhile the purchase.
I think what makes the Blade an excellent choice is because of the massive support base. So are there any other phones which shows this type of support base, or show signs of an impending explosion of support?
How about upcoming models like the ZTE Mimosa and Era?
I think all the phones which are one xda forum have good community, just dont take different model of a famous phone like blade s, galaxy sl, or galaxy IIG, they have bad community

Defy MIA. Replacement recommendations welcome

Hi all,
After a trusty year of service, my Defy decided to stop working. The earphone mic problem (that can be found elsewhere on the forum) reared its ugly head. The device was sent back for repair under guarantee. The company doing the repairs managed to loose the device and will be refunding the original value of the device. So now I'm in the market for a replacement. IP67(ish) Android devices being a strong preference, I won't mind getting one of the Defy clones again. Maybe the Defy XT is a possibility, but reading that ICS will maybe remain out for it is a little sad. The Xperia Go looks reasonable, except for the poor screen resolution and mineral glass. Dual core, 8GB on board and wet screen touch and ICS in the future adds quite a bit of sugar, though. Any other options? The phone must be half decent, so no Defy mini class devices like the samsung or HTC.

Well in all honesty, there are many devices out there you could get but if you want an ip67 certified device and you have mentioned a few.
But if you want the dev support that we have on our device, I don't think that you will get that with other models.
We have a stable CM10 two weeks after its announced. It's really great. Even a lot of high end devices don't have support like we do.
This is probably due to it being the first decent android phone to market with ip67 cert.
Why not just stick with the defy and get the defy+ or the defy xt
Defy+ is definitely an option. Defy XT maybe also, but whether it'll have similar support to the Defy+ is still open to discussion. How long will the N95 be acceptable while I wait for the XT?

XT is different than defy & defy+.
There is no dev support for it yet and with the locked bl, there's little chance of that..
So I'd say, go for Defy+ if you like.
And being a bit (gotta stay pc) of a light weight successor it brings little extra to the table other than big promises over battery life we know so well. The Defy+ is also 100 euro cheaper than the Sony... The question is how much does the low res get to one? The other specs are pretty juicy!
Panasonic also has a IP67(ish) device out. Eluga its called. I'm a bit skeptical, though...

How do you guys feel about the xperia mini pro? Looks like it's got solid hardware in a nice small size (maybe too small?). And ICS too. anyone know if it'll get JB (official) as well? I think i still prefer the size and aesthetics of the defy, but the sony could be a good replacement when my earpiece goes (again)

remember huawei is a small company compared to others such as samsung and sony so it can't spend all its time updating its phones os's when every other company is doing that and making new phones so they need to try and compete by making new phones aswell

Huawei sucks, basically due to the null client support (MOST IMPORTANT THING IN EVERY COMPANY) and the ****y sensors they use in their device cams.
Huawei U8800 sells as 5MP cam but this is only in the output size because the quality any Nokia with 3.2 thakes photos 10 times better!
But we can't ask for more with the price they charge for their devices....

finally you've reached a conclusion "But we can't ask for more with the price they charge for their devices", for the price i paid for my Ideos X5 im really happy with it and it's one of the best compared to another phones which are too expensive and they are like the same or even worse than the ideos x5.
Well if you have hardware problems just send it to the warranty service, they will repair your phone, they have specialized people for each brand, at least at my country they do.

No, on the contrary i do like my u8800 and i think that was a great value for money.
It could have a better cam sensor, it would make all the difference and the company policy regarding client support should change. That's it basically
