I recently found out the Ps3 happens to have the ability to install a full Linux OS. I don't know if this information can be helpful in anyway but id thought maybe with this info/ability it could be used in development....? Let me know what you think..... and if this old news apologies.

Very old news haha, but they dont anymore not after an update i think it was like 3 something or even 2 something. but anyways none of them have the ability to install any OS anymore unless you downgrade but then its pointless because you cant play games because they require new update and newer features as well that that the newer firmware has incorporated. So unless you got PS3's your SOL.
I'm not too sure if you downgrade and install the OS and then update it if it'll work or not.
actually, unless you have an older PS3 that hasn't been updated in a long time, or hack it.. Sony removed the Other OS option. There was a whole big lawsuit etc over the removal of a "paid for feature."
and soul beats me to it.. lol
Thanks for the insight.... I found this out a while back and I thought it was very cool..... now eh...

Lololol linux was the first thing I did on my ps3 after I bought it. It worked as expected. I even had limewire on the thing xD then the update came out like 2 years ago and they said to make sure you erase any partitions because you won't get that data back but I tried to call their bluff because how can they take a feature that some people OBVIOUSLY bought it for (I honestly didn't want a ps3 back then cuz the games were wack. I bought it cuz I thought it'd be awesome to treat my gaming system as a PC and use those six cores) but the update ate the 20 or so gigs I had for linux and now I always have 55GB instead of 80 and I can't ***** because they warned me rofl.
But I got over it when the fly games started coming out. I always looked at it as "well people that bought the first ps3 only gots 60 gigs total and that's before partitions come into play so I have adequate memory" ahhah but I do miss linux. I didn't know how to use it at first and now that I think about it it was kinda like android

You're totally forgetting about the 8th core. It's responsible for the PS3's Security, known as the hypervisor, the latest firmware on PS3 has the last core with the new job of checking the firmware's code for unauthorized modifications (hacked PS3s)
Source: My own knowledge in being an awesome PS3 owner who kept tabs on it.

Ok, the ps3 is interesting (not as nearly as psp..) but why is this here? It belongs in an off topic thread, or not on xda at all
sent from my cm7 touchwiz 4.5-ed epic
8th core may not even work, only 7 are guaranteed to function. higher yields on 7/8 cores than 8/8 cores.

As far as froyo ofcourse iphone got it first..........iphone always gets the good stuff first and will be that way always sorry to say....
Fragmentation of phones is hurting android and always will!!! sad truth!!! And im talking about a hardware fragmentation more than os!
Also why would an Iphone user want froyo?? Apple Os ........and i know alot of people will crazy over this...........is much better than android and dev friendly!!
Remember google didnt make android they bought it for 50 million.........it was never a gaming platform. Wont be for a while! from what ive read
The iPhone has had froyo for a while now. Its just that everything had to be done via linux desktop os. All bootlace does is allow the flashing of openiboot and android from userland now.

None. No other device uses the same hardware as ours and writing drivers for an entire OS is an unbelievable undertaking we don't have the devs for.

They don't have a dev community so not really. So far there has been one successful "jailbreak" that ruins their ability to update forever. Not much of a future there.

That's what convinced me to come to Android. I had a Windows Mobile 6 phone, and after dual booting with Android for about a month, I realized I liked it a lot better and decided that my next phone would be an Android one. And that was a big deal for me, because I was developing apps for my Windows phone but had never made an Android app before.

The OS has nothing to do w/ whether you can dual boot or not. But more depends on the hardware and and what software and/or drivers the community has put together.

Challenge accepted! Lol Cupcake on the Evo. Wonder how that would run being that the Evo specs are well above what's needed. I'm assuming, if someone is actually able to get it to boot cupcake, that it would run about as well as running Windows 95 on one of today's typical PC specs.
In regards to the toolbox and apps. Would the flash 11.x work on GB as well? I thought flash stopped at 10.x for GB and 11.x was for 4.x.x (ICS and up).

I think it does run on GB. When I flash a rom I flash this group of app along with it. It shows up in my apps when I boot up but I am not sure of the last time I used any flash on my phone. I usually use my pc for the Internet.
Op has some more info. I will be working on it more over the next few days. This will have apps, tweaks, and tricks. The apps are one part of the toolbox that will start showing up in our roms. They will also be included in a flashable zip for those who are not using our roms. The second part of the toolbox will be exclusive to our roms. It consists of modifications to the installer script that will put a copy of your recovery log into a folder on your sdcard. It will also do a md5sum of the rom you are installing and put that in the folder also.
Remember this is a work in progress so don't expect it to be finished over night.

Just wondering if there were any other SOG fans in here. It used to be such a great game. I played SoG from the beginning of its release. As far as the Nexus 7 goes, it has never worked on it. The reason is that it is not compatible with the tegra 3, which is what we have for a graphics chip. It would require a major overhaul, and that will never happen. And as far as I can tell, it wont run on any android running 4.1.x or higher. Yes, it is a great game. But, it was released in December of 2009, and never got a good update to keep up with androids advancing versions.
