I used the alpha release of CM9 FXP052 and installed the new boot.img but without a working camera and data im kind of stuck. Is their anyway I can install the old boot.img or even bring my phone back to completely stock. I need my everyday phone to be really stable for the time being. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Edit: I just realized I posted this in the wrong place can a mod please move this to Q&A
Ok so I guess I will be using flashtool to flash my phone back with the generic lt15a firmware. I unlocked the boot loader using the wiki provided by cyanogenmod. Can I re-lock my boot loader so i can receive OTA updates again?
Yes, you can lock your bootloader again. Look here.
yes you can go back just use Flash Tool and download then Arc firmware and everything will be back to it's default state or if you did a nandroid backup you can restore it.

Grey Blur... how old is that. Wasn't that for froyo and not gingerbread...
Ok, 2 things, well 3 things actually...
1) Did you actually try to flash a ROM and/or is your phone stuck in a bootloop? If not, and you just want to return to stock, you can flash the 4.5.91 (Android 2.3.4) sbf file. This will fully return you to stock, no root, no cwm, no nothing but stock. Or if your just trying to wipe the theme you installed, try a factory reset.
2) If you did try to flash a ROM and are stuck somewhere... you can still flash the correct sbf file, or you can go ahead an unlock your bootloader.
3) Do not use Tenfar's recovery. Use Rom Racer's or ROM Manager... but you need to unlock your bootloader first.

You are able to flash Tenfar's without unlocking your phone, it's also required to flash Greyblur. I've done it before aswell, I installed Gingerblur without unlocking my phone. Very dangerous yea I know. So do what Swift said, unlock your phone or flash ONLY a 4.5.91 SBF onto it.
P.S. Yea Gingerblur/Greyblur is froyo!
Hi Guys,
Any chance of some help please?,
Just managed to create my own Rom I know unbelievable right?, well I used bits and bobs from the Arc rom, used dooms kernel, and bits from themes and new s apps etc and tweaked a bit with lovely new themes and voila perfect.
problem is being too much of a smart arse I formatted my sd card just as I was about to install an updated leaner rom that i'd made, so i decided I would just connect the phone up to fastboot and install the rom from there.
Well I thought the system command was to install a rom, so i typed fastboot flash system "my roms name and .zip at the end it erased then wrote quite quickly and alarm bells started to ring cos I thought no way thats installed a rom.
Anyways I just get doom kernels logo now and nothing else it wont go further for me to get into CWM.
Although its allowing me into fastboot so hopefully its not bricked.
Do I just install a 0.62 ftf file for the lt18i?, if so which one should I choose i'm on virgin uk unbranded phone.
Also what would the command be in fastboot?
Thanks guys
Mav
Hey,
I'm no developer, but you can flash any ftf using flashtool... after that you can get back to using the recovery... since you're not sticking to the fw and reinstalling yours any should work... Get a generic global...
By the way, make sure you don't overwrite the kernel or bb, otherwise you'll need to flash the ones you were using before...
Hope it helped...

Well, I suggest you to re-flash doomkernel in fastboot mode with the command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
I think that way you can access the recovery.
I would recommend you to read the Fastboot Wiki on the matter, I think there is a way to test ROMs more safely.
And always good advice, do a nandroid backup before testing anything.
Thanks guys,
just what I thought, I did try reflashing doom kernel but it wouldnt allow me into recovery think because I messed up system.img.
So I'm now downloading lt18i 4.0.2.A.62 Generic ftf, I will flash via flashtool, and hopefully doomkernel, 36 baseband & libs will all still be there, then I can just go into CWM and test my Rom.
I definitely should have done a nandroid backup nevermind hopefully it will all be right.
If it works well I will be sharing my rom which I think is really nice and works well.
Thanks again
Mav
I like swapping between new ROM's, and I've been on Android N since the first preview. But now I'm interested in trying out Paranoid.
The bootloader is unlocked and I have just reflashed TWRP. But it asked for a password in the start which I got passed where I wiped everything on it. But whenever I try to boot into any rom (not just Paranoid) it's just stuck on the Google logo. Why so?
Will I need to downgrade my bootloader to the version from Marshmallow or am I missing something?
I'll give the default answer to any ROM issues you ever have on a Nexus device. Reflash the FULL stock factory image and see if it fixes it.

Basic Android Mod 101- BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP!!! Always do a backup, Nandroid b/ups are best. With Nexus device's you can unroot, and Flash the entire Google stock image. Brand new again.

Yeah that won't work since the vendors are different. There's a thread already about downgrading from N to Marshmallow..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/trying-to-manually-downgrade-android-n-t3391373
It is all about the boot.img image.
if you flashed a rooted rom, flash the modified boot.img that allows root ( you can find it for each version here http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/stock-modified-boot-img-regular-root-t3306684 )
if you flashed a non rooted stock rom, flash the stock boot.img ( you can extract it from the stock image file
that's it

Just flash the correct vendor image for Marshmallow.

I am not exactly an expert, but I would recommend to flash back the latest image from Google...go back to completely stock and then if you want root and install TWRP again. Good news is your bootloader is still unlocked, so I don't think you are bricked. Good luck!

Ok so should I use the Nexus root toolkit and start from scratch again? Yeah my bootloader is unlocked and I can see twrp so I must still be rooted ..just wiped my whole device that all thanks
Try re flashing the Vendor.img sounds like the vendor didn't get restored

i would but everything (files etc.) are gone from my phone...so i would have to download and flash it thru my pc right? if not ill probably just flash a rom gapps the vendor of course and super su and see if it boots up to the rom
Yup just download the Factory Image and extract the vendor image and flash it with fastboot.
Or flash another ROM /Gapps/ Vendor

Not clear. The files you had before restore are missing or you miss files from your backup? Twrp backup does not backup your /data/media.
White google logo hanging is a due to bad vendor files.
Hello Everyone,
I rooted my device and installed magisk using bootlaoder patched_boot.img and having bootloop issue since then. Now, I want to unroot my device and get back to use stock rom. I searched how to unroot my device and flash stock rom but I am completely lost. Now, I am totally scraching my head.
