Hi Guys,
Any chance of some help please?,
Just managed to create my own Rom I know unbelievable right?, well I used bits and bobs from the Arc rom, used dooms kernel, and bits from themes and new s apps etc and tweaked a bit with lovely new themes and voila perfect.
problem is being too much of a smart arse I formatted my sd card just as I was about to install an updated leaner rom that i'd made, so i decided I would just connect the phone up to fastboot and install the rom from there.
Well I thought the system command was to install a rom, so i typed fastboot flash system "my roms name and .zip at the end it erased then wrote quite quickly and alarm bells started to ring cos I thought no way thats installed a rom.
Anyways I just get doom kernels logo now and nothing else it wont go further for me to get into CWM.
Although its allowing me into fastboot so hopefully its not bricked.
Do I just install a 0.62 ftf file for the lt18i?, if so which one should I choose i'm on virgin uk unbranded phone.
Also what would the command be in fastboot?
Thanks guys
Mav
Hey,
I'm no developer, but you can flash any ftf using flashtool... after that you can get back to using the recovery... since you're not sticking to the fw and reinstalling yours any should work... Get a generic global...
By the way, make sure you don't overwrite the kernel or bb, otherwise you'll need to flash the ones you were using before...
Hope it helped...
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
Well, I suggest you to re-flash doomkernel in fastboot mode with the command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
I think that way you can access the recovery.
I would recommend you to read the Fastboot Wiki on the matter, I think there is a way to test ROMs more safely.
And always good advice, do a nandroid backup before testing anything.
Thanks guys,
just what I thought, I did try reflashing doom kernel but it wouldnt allow me into recovery think because I messed up system.img.
So I'm now downloading lt18i 4.0.2.A.62 Generic ftf, I will flash via flashtool, and hopefully doomkernel, 36 baseband & libs will all still be there, then I can just go into CWM and test my Rom.
I definitely should have done a nandroid backup nevermind hopefully it will all be right.
If it works well I will be sharing my rom which I think is really nice and works well.
Thanks again

So I rooted my phone via Universal Androot and it looks like it went through without a hitch. Kinda...
Then I DL Rom Manager and Flashed the CW Recovery from there and that looks like it installed ok as well.
Do I need to do this fastboot thing to install DJ Steve's 1.4.6 ROM or can't I just reboot into recovery and install from SD card now?
It seems like that would be the easier way just like the other android phones I have flashed new roms for?
I just want to make sure I dont need that fast boot to avoid any issues with new ROM flash.
You are going to need several different recoveries to upgrade the streak and none of them are the recovery you would flash through rom manager. I'm almost 100% sure you can not flash any roms via clockwork that has been installed through rom manager. Definately learn about fastboot. It's really quite essential to pretty much everything you want to do with the streak. Search for a thread entitled "guide to upgrading and downgrading the dell streak" which has been posted here at xda and on the modaco forum as well. It has a link to pdf which gives you an easy step by step guide to installing and using fastboot as well as the recoveries and pretty much everything else. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I used the alpha release of CM9 FXP052 and installed the new boot.img but without a working camera and data im kind of stuck. Is their anyway I can install the old boot.img or even bring my phone back to completely stock. I need my everyday phone to be really stable for the time being. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Edit: I just realized I posted this in the wrong place can a mod please move this to Q&A
Ok so I guess I will be using flashtool to flash my phone back with the generic lt15a firmware. I unlocked the boot loader using the wiki provided by cyanogenmod. Can I re-lock my boot loader so i can receive OTA updates again?
Yes, you can lock your bootloader again. Look here.
yes you can go back just use Flash Tool and download then Arc firmware and everything will be back to it's default state or if you did a nandroid backup you can restore it.
I'm a new member so i can't post to developer threads but if you do a factory restore prior to flashing the rom, then deselect the format system option while flashing, the rom should work.
Since its a stock based rom your bootloader doesn't need to be unlocked
how do you flash it? do you flash the zip from the sd card? cause i thought locked bootloaders could not do that (i have a R800at)

Locked bootloaders can install CWM recovery and flash. I will test it and let you know the result.

You can't flash it. If someone puts up a Nandroid, you could load that.
I tried flashing on the Verizon R800x. It just hung on the Sony Ericsson logo. Maybe ATT is different, but I don't think so.
thanks for the info, ive requested a nandriod upload of the rom. hopefully someone will be nice enough to do that for us
Confirm, it works. Tks Theo_Taylor

I have just flashed it successfully on my locked bootloader R800a. I deselect format system while flashing.
did you use the ota or install from the zip?
does NOT work wit h800at, stuck at boot logo cant get into cwm
Flash with CWM
Install ClockworkMod recovery and install the zip from sdcard via recovery menu
i did and im stuck at the boot logo.
how do i fix this? i tried the SE update on the pc companion but it says there is no update availiable for my phone
Use the Flashtool, Luke.
Sorry. Download the correct .ftf file for your phone and use the Flashtool to fix.
Lol, I was thinking about making a thread about the same thing, as my situation is almost equal to yours (my model is R800i, that's the only difference). I can't get any ROM or theme to work with my PLAY .

LOL i love it. flash tool and generic north american rom in ftf form worked for me. cant get into CWM but after setting up the device the way i had it before, i like it better this way.
you have to flash the stock rom using the flash tool its real easy and u can find the generic rom on here just search for it ...i had the same problem 800at wont let a rom work with a locked bootloader ive tried many times ...with that said you can remove system apps to speed it up and underclock it to save battery power these are the things i have done until i get my bootloader unlocked there is also a safe system remove list in the fourms too hope this helps
Hi, I am not too sure if I posted this in the right place or not but please let me know if it is posted in the wrong place. I am actually relatively new towards rooting of an android device so i need to clear my doubts.
I used Wugfresh toolkit to root my Nexus 10. The toolkit also have an option to install TWRP. But the version of TWRP is not the most updated one. So, can I just download the latest one and flash it or i need to remove the current one before I can update the version.
Also, I am interested in flashing a custom ROM. But my question is if a new stock firmware is out, how am i going to update to the latest stock firmware when I am in a custom ROM.
Please let me know if you don't understand my question. I will try my best to explain further and also thank you in advance.

TWRP typically recommends installing and updating their recovery via Goo's app thing, but if you know where to look (openrecovery on goo + manta), you can get the .img and then flash it with fastboot. I usually do fastboot erase recovery and then fastboot flash boot TWRP-IMAGE.img. But if you don't feel too comfortable with fastboot, then Goo's program should take care of it I think.
If you want to try the latest stock when you're using a custom ROM, you'll need to flash the latest factory image from Google to go back stock, and then update it (unless the factory image is updated to the latest, which doesn't usually happen till days later). Just want to make sure you backup anything important.

So, for TWRP, it means that I can restore the stock recovery before I flash the TWRP img right? Because I am using the Wugfresh toolkit to run all these fashboot commands and they only have the options to either flash a custom recovery or to restore the stock recovery.
As for the custom ROMs, every time I flash a ROM, all my stuff in my Nexus 10 will be gone right? For example my game progress etc. Because if I were to backup, I will make a nandroid backup which means every single thing in my nexus. So, correct me if I am wrong. Every time I flash a ROM, my nexus will be back to a clean state right?
Thank you in advance for your answers. ^^
I was able to flash an EVGA ROM successfully and also Shaky156's CWM recovery. Primary reason was to get rid of Chinese notifications completely. Problem is that I cannot get the 1.1 OTA update to install because of the CWM recovery. I tried to flash stock recovery via fastboot but was not successful. Tried different versions even the BAT_CWM_recovery but it won't accept any except Shaky's version. Also tried the Super Tool but it won't recognize the tablet. I have previously installed the SDK and can get fastboot to run. Will try version 1.5 if it works.

Always erase the partition beforehand.
fastboot erase boot
then... as an example
fastboot flash boot boot.img
or
fastboot erase recovery
then... as an example
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Make sure you are cautious never to loose fastboot ability. Other words if your bootloader can't be obtained from restarting and hold buttons down, then make sure you don't restart till you get a successful flashing. Always have the system ADB enabled and certified with the computer.

Did what you said but still no stock recovery installed. When I reboot after erasing the old recover and flashing the stock instead of going to recovery it just boots up. Looks like the recovery never gets flashed. I did check if the tablet is being recognized by the computer before any flashing. After flashing the stock recovery it says okay so I don't know what's happening.

Yes, tablet is unlocked. Says so when I boot into the bootloader. I have flashed Shaky's CWM and it installed fine. Don't know why the tablet does not like the stock recovery. Even tried BAT-cwm recovery but also failed to install. I'll just have to wait for someone to come up with a flashable ROM if the Kitkat update comes around.

Do your best to get Bat_recovery for the recovery parititon and the 4.3.1 boot.img for the boot partition, shared on my Tegra Note Discoveries thread. Never flash the bootloader partition unless you are really know what you're doing. Then possible flash the system partition with Tom's system.img with;
fastboot erase system
fastboot flash system system.img
Tom's image should patch and is an English styled setup so you get all the Google Apps, etc.

Here's what I did:
1. Erased the system and flashed the 4.3plus system zip.
2. Erased the boot image and flashed the 4.3plus boot image.
3. Erased the recovery and flashed the bat recovery.
4. Rebooted and got stuck on the Tegra Note screen. (flashing on and off).
Tried to experiment and flashed another boot image and this time got stuck on the Tegra Note screen but this time it was not flashing on and off. Turned it off but nothing happened, Pressed the key combination to boot to the bootloader mode but failed. I thought I bricked it and then tried to go the the apx mode and was successful. This time I pressed the bootloader key combination and thankfully was successful. I thought I bricked the tablet.
Is there a way to flash the 4.2.2 ROM? Read somewhere that someone flashed the old ROM and the stock recovery. Once done he was able to update to 4.3plus. I thought there was a flashable 4.2.2 ROM at rootjunky.com but when I clicked on the link I got an error message saying that the file does not exist. I asked the poster where he got the ROM and recovery but never got a reply.
I'll try to flash the 4.3 ROM back

have you tried extracting the Rom and nvflash into the same folder and running the "download.bat" to fix this? I haven't found a nvflash that works with tegra note 7

Don't know how to do that.
I've managed to flash a 4.2.2 ROM (tried the deodex version first) but not the stock recovery. Funny thing is that only Shaky156's version can be flashed. The big problem with the ROM is that there's no wifi and that sucks big time. It means I can't update the the firmware. Will try to flash the odex version and see the wifi works. There's no access to the files too. Good thing the bluetooth works.

pls, what recovery works best with the homecare tegra note? prefarably one that allows backup/restore with external sd card

The no wifi problem is endemic of a broken/mismatched boot.img to system version. Get an original (eg EVGA version) boot.img not a modified rooted version, since SuperSU sideloaded will give proper root later on top of an original boot.img.
I have boot.img shared on Tegra Note Discovery thread.
Try using rootjunkie supertool and get new kit kat or flash another ROM very easy to use

No luck. I tried what e8hfff suggested but still got no wifi. I used to have a Korean version of the Galaxy S3 and I could flash the modded ROMS made for the international version only if it is converted. Some guy came up with a converter and you flash it after you have flashed the modded ROM. We might have to get something similar if we want to flash EVGA ROMs.
Right now I'm not that concerned with getting the Kitkat update since there's something wrong with it (write to SD card). Once they have come up with an update to correct the bug then I'll give it another try. SO for now, I'll stick to the 4.3 ROM.

Yes try, TegraNote_bootimg_4p3p1rip.zip first as I haven't tested the 4.4 boot.img, and only use the boot.img within as there is another directory of the uncompress boot.

Does shaky156's version have a working wifi or any rom at all, (even 4.2) that has wifi, my TN7 is next to useless without it
