Hello!
I'm having a hard time finding an unbranded Wifi Calling application.
It's called Kineto Smart WiFi. If it can be found I'm assuming that it could just be a dropin replacement. Any and all information would be helpful.
kineto.com/images/smart_wifi/SO_WiFi_splash.jpg
The splash screen for the app should look like this or something very similar.
Thanks.
you need to have either T-mobile or Orange as your cell carrier, those are the only two Kineto licensees that I know of (other than hardware preloads by Chinese phone makers Huawei & ZTE - not sure who you can use these phones with for wifi calling though)
If you have a phone designed for T-mobile or Orange in the last year or two, you probably already have the wifi-calling app (Smart Wifi) built-in anyway.
I could send you the app, but if you don't have both a carrier and phone on the very short approved list, it's not going to do you any good, because you won't get past Kineto's gateway.
So what phone and what carrier do you use, so we can even determine if what you are wanting is even currently possible?
here are the only phones that I know that will work with Smart Wifi (wifi calling):
T-MOBILE PHONES:
BlackBerry Curve 3G
BlackBerry Curve 8520
BlackBerry Curve 9360
BlackBerry Bold 9700

Can you use kineto on the hercules?
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
From my understanding the tmobile wifi calling should be included in the default rom that comes with your thoughts fun. It is included in cm7 for g2. From what I read on just installing the apk it won't work because there are some deeper level integration needed

Ok ok so I really want this phone but I don't care for the look of the Sprint version here in the states. It's fatter and bland, tacky looking... I'd like to get an imported one and use it on either T-Mobile or AT&T... I've heard some folks say that only Edge is possible on AT&T with the current model that's out but I'm wondering if you guys know any different? I'd be willing to use this on T-Mobile US or AT&T as long as I could get the 3g speeds... Are there any version of the Hero out right now or that have been confirmed coming out in the near future (within the next 30 days) that will be able to be used on AT&T or T-Mobile?
No - what you've heard is correct. At present, if you're in the US and want a Hero with 3G, it's either the Sprint Hero or nothing. However, there isn't really a whole lot of difference hardware wise between the Hero and the MyTouch 3G.
Regards,
Dave
I've read that the hardware is similar but I was kinda pining for the Sense UI which is what really got me excited about Android... before that I wasn't a huge Android fan. I'm all about the UI
I wonder if there is a way to install sense on a mytouch? Also as far as I know the US version of all other android phones only come in white and not black or dark gray which is what I would want. I could be wrong about that though.

There are custom Hero roms for the MT3G.
Well the main reason I wanted the European version aside from the 3g instead of the CDMA was the look of the hero... the MT3G doesn't have the chin and thin/sleek design that I like.
the hero wont work at all in the US? or just no 3g?
I am currently using the Hero on AT&T, you will not get the 3G band. The phone works great on Edge and I dont seem to see any speed difference from my 3GS Iphone.

how's it working out for you? i recently bought a Hero and i was deciding between that and the iPhone 3GS (coming from a HTC Touch Pro / Windows Mobile user). i'm also on AT&T so i' going to be going from 3G to Edge.
I would wait...
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/07/02/htc-hero-hits-fcc-with-us-3g/
Note that this is a different model than the CDMA version that Sprint has. I think there are 3 possible things that will happen:
The Hero will be sold in an unlocked North American version.
The Hero will go to AT&T.
The Hero will go to Rogers, the Canadian mobile company that currently sells the Dream and Magic/Sapphire.
i have a problem. my hero arrived yesterday and i have at&t (us) and under phone status it works just fine. it shows i'm running edge, phone calls work. but when i try to go online and use any kind of data connection it doesn't work, anyone know what's going on? everything works on wifi but it doesn't pick up a data connection on edge when it says edge on phone status.
FIXED: nvm, i figured out i had to input the APN settings manually since the phone came unlocked from China.
Just buy a rogers HTC Magic and put one of the many hero roms on it. The rogers one has the same 3g bands as at&t. The only difference is the 3.5 not there and only a 3MP camera but I really don't see a difference in the 3MP and the 5MP. Atleast not from the magin & hero compared.
Bit of a general android topic here but seriously what is the deal with T-Mobile UK getting almost EVERY android phone to be released in the UK (aside from the HTC Magic).
They now have:
- Samsung Galaxy Portal Exclusively
- LG Intouch Max Exclusively
- "Tmobile G1" (Dream) Exclusively
- "Tmobile G2 Touch" (Hero) Time-Exclusively (it's also on Orange BUT the 2 companies are merging).
- TMobile Pulse (HUwaei model) Exclusively
And rumored:
- Nexus One
- HTC Bravo Exclusively
- Xperia X10 (only rumored)
I mean, I'm all for T-Mobile UK Supporting android but it doesn't really go well with the whole "Open-ness" that T-Mobile is pretty much the only network you can pick up android on. Other phones in the UK running android and on other networks are only:
- HTC Magic on Vodafone
- HTC Hero (after about 6 months) on Three
- Xperia X10 confirmed for Vodafone
- Nexus One confirmed for Vodafone
I would like to see "Exclusivity" cut down from it's current extent. We should be able to chose the Network AND the Phone not chose a Phone and be given a network with it!

Maybe the problem is that none of the other carriers have meaningfully sought to carry Android devices? Android is not a single-device platform; each manufacturer can spin out many Android devices. So there is certainly no lack of hardware to sell. If you have a problem with T-Mo UK being the primary carrier for Android, then maybe you should complain to the other carriers that are not paying Android enough attention. I mean I don't know who else you could validly complain to!
My corporate Exchange email account requires the ActiveSync Device Encryption Policy.
I've tried a number of the ROMs for HD2 on the XDA, but many don't have the security settings I need. I've tried the Desire based ROMS but I don't like the aesthetic ... I really liked MIUI stock but it didn't have the right security built in.
The working phones with the ActiveSync Device Encryption are below, but I don't know how to spot the builds in the forum that are based on these stock ROMs. Can anyone suggest a ROM based on one of the stock ROMs below?
Stock ROMs with ActiveSync Device Encryption Policy:
AT&T Atrix
AT&T HTC Aria
AT&T Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S)
AT&T's HTC Inspire 4G
HTC Desire
Samsung Galaxy S 4G
Samsung Galaxy Tab
Sprint HTC EVO 4G
Sprint HTC Evo Shift
Sprint HTC Hero
Sprint Samsung Epic
Sprint Samsung Moment
T-Mobile Cliq / Cliq 2
T-Mobile Motorola Defy
T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Slide
T-Mobile MyTouch 4G
US-Cellular Samsung Mesmerize (Galaxy S)
Verizon Droid Incredible
Verizon Droid X and Droid 2
Verizon Samsung Fascinate (Galaxy S)
Thanks!
Have you tried
Moto-Mytouch4G V3.3
And btw this is posted in the wrong section this belongs in the Q&A section..
I will follow this because i have the same problem. Tried a few this evening with same result. Not working.
Did you had found working roms? Maybe some you don't liked.

I have tried the Mytouch4G... or at least I saw it. Will try later tonight. Are there any others, though?

I have an MLB.TV subscription and want to watch the games on my phone. However, it says that the MLB.TV streaming is only available on these phones:
Sprint HTC Evo
Verizon HTC Droid Incredible
Verizon Motorola Droid X
Verizon Motorola Droid
Verizon Motorola Droid 2
Verizon Motorola Droid Pro
Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab
Verizon HTC Thunderbolt
T-Mobile/AT&T HTC Nexus One
T-Mobile Samsung Nexus S
T-Mobile HTC Glacier (myTouch 4G)
Anybody know of any way I can get it to allow me to use my MLB.TV subscription?
Anybody have any experience with this?
This rom works. NexusHD2. Here is the link. I was having a problem with location so I used location spoofing from the market. I have not tested anything else on the ROM as I am using it on my backup HD2 at the moment.

I might be asking a super n00b question but no more S-OFF, isn't that what everyone wants instead of S-ON? I thought that was the way to get full access to your phone.

Please show me the link, or I don't know what to translate. If your mean the pictures on the site I posted ahead, you may find the three pictures following the first one when you try to flash a rom with the tool. If there is any thing you need to translate, just copy them here and I'll try to translate them for you.

I have scaned it with kaspersky and Avira, they didn't found any virus. As I think, that may be a false alert.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear, this tool helps you hacked your phone without following those S-OFF steps.
Please be more specific
Just found this link.
I just brought a refurbished HTC Flyer. WiFi only.
I am stll unclear about what to do.
Do I just hook up my Flyer to the computer and ran the program?
Is that it or what? The instruction is not very clear. It is not
a .APK file so you can not ran it off the Flyer.
I recommend that you check the HTC Flyer forums. This is the HTC Desire HD forums, so we are much less likely to have an answer for you.
It may work, as I can see, flyer is in the support list, you can have a try, but you should be aware the risk, I can't find you a new one
