[Q] Screen vibrations - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
when my Nook is turned on, displaying icons or text, when you look at the screen in "portrait" mode and you turn it to landscape and vice versa (more or less quickly), do you have an impression of "vibration" in the display ? Just like with old computer screens?
It is more visible when you don't directly look at the screen, but more when you look at an icon or text located at corners.
I can also see it when filming the Nook's screen with my phone, then the vibrations clearly appear on the video (without moving the Nook)
Is there a problem with the screen or is it due to the IPS technology ?
Is there something I can do to improve a bit the "stability" of the image ?

Flickering text while scrolling in menus?

I dont know if this is just my phone or all Atrix so maybe you could help me out
If I go in to for example settings -> sd card & phone storage settings and then scroll up and down, the text gets almost unreadable and flickers.
Also, if I move the phone a bit, like giving it a twist and then look at the grey notification bar I can see some kind of flickering pattern, almost as if the pixels werent held in place firm enough.
Anyone recognize these issues?
Same for me on Stock 4.1.5.7 and on GladiAtrix2 v4.2.3.
I see it too. I always thought this was due to the pentile screen.
It could also be due the the response time of the screen instead of blurring it flickers

Call button images burned into the the screen?

Hi
not sure if anyone else has noticed this but it seems that the call end button, the button to view the dial pad and the button to view speaker options are burned into my screen!!! viewing in most apps it is not noticable but if you open internet explorer and go to a new page without loading a website the images of the buttons and very visiable in a brownish color I have had my focus since it was released in the US, I have also checked my wifes focus and it also has this burned into her screen.. Has anyone else noticed this?
Yes, I have the call tile, message tile, and the little circle/arrow burned into my screen. As you said, it's only visible on light colored screens, but it is visible. Unfortunately, unlike the temporary burn-in on new plasma tvs, this burn-in will not go away.
If you want to see something really bad, go up to the at&t store and check out the Focus that's on display. The Focus at my local at&t store looks horrible. I can't imagine anyone wanting to buy that phone if they saw that display model...
edit: by the way I love your weather app, I have had a few problems with it over the time i've used it, and you have always been fantastic with your support. Thanks!
Are you using blue tiles? I heard Blue OLEDs burn out faster than other colors and changed my tiles to green.
I have been using the brown almost exclusively; occasionally I'll go with blue, green, or lime, but the brown just looks the best to me.

thanks for the comment. on to your screen you have the actuall tiles burned into your screen? wow i only have the call end and function buttons burned i think its related to having my display on bright i took it off the automatic.
It's actually not the tile, it's the icon inside the tile that is burned in, but it's only visible on white screens. It's still quite annoying. As soon as the hd7s is out I'm going to compare screens, if the slcd is close to the samoled then i'm jumping ship I think...
and yeah my screen is on bright (not automatic) also. I think my problem is that I have the time out set to 5 minutes, and I never locked it myself

Based on HTC's latest track record with the Desire HD and Inspire 4G, make sure you analyze the viewing angle of the HD7-S. HTC has said it will have a Super LCD but, according to an answer they gave to a customer complaining it wasn't true S-LCD tech, the display will likely be what HTC is calling "Super" LCD...meaning it is their name for the super-sized display...and having nothing to do with true S-LCD tech.
If the viewing angle isn't as good as the iPhone 4 or Focus...or other SAMOLED/AMOLED equipped devices...then it isn't the higher-tech display but just an ordinary non-TFT LCD.
Super AMOLED is a great screen. But the pixel life span is still way short. The Blue pixels are the shortest. The old stats are 2000 to 4000 hours. New information point it around 10000 to 14000 hours. But Samsung didn't release any spec on this.
You should always keep the screen dim and keep it on as short as possible. Reportedly use a red theme will not only preserve blue pixels but also prolong battery life.
No burn in here. I have the phone set to turn off screen within 30 seconds, and have always used Lime colour tiles since it matches the Xbox Live tile.
Just a follow up on this issue, and possible a "what not to do" post. The burn in on my screen is getting worse. On a white screen, I can now see the phone icon, message icon, small circle/arrow, the word calender, and my google mail icon. I have the screen set to time out after 30 seconds, and I have the brightness set to high (not auto).

[Q] Background ghosting

I have had my nexus 7 for around 3 months now and have noticed that there appears to be a frozen image of the white elements of my home scree that are slightly but permanently visible. It is quite faint but I have noticed that things like the digital clock, and the white notifications are always visible. Sometimes even with the chrome Web browser get stuck being visible on the home scree. Is this a problem that others have and is there a way to fix this?
Thanks
does it appear while taking a screenshot? if not, its the pixels burnt into the display if you left the screen on the same picture for too long.

Second screen pixels are On although i Turned the Second Screen Off

hi . i have v20 h990ds .
when i turned the second screen Off when main screen is On , in setting , the phone didn't show any thing (that is normal) but if i go to completely in dark room i can see that pixels of second screen electrically are On (black backlight can be seen without displaying anything). while i expect that when i set the (second screen being off when main screen is on) the power of second screen getting to off and don't use any battery .
when i press power button to turning off main screen , the second screen goes off at the same time as the main screen , completely.
can anybody tell me that is it occurs for you , please? is it normal when you turn second screen off the power of it (that can be realized in dark room) don't turned off?
That is completely normal. The second screen and main screen share the same backlight even when turned off you will still see some light bleed through the black pixels. They dont have separate backlights so it is still on behind the screen.
Hi! Well as many people don't know but Lg v20's main screen and the second screen are the same panel having a Cut around the left corner which make it feels like that Both displays are separate and also they make some kernel tweaks to make them virtually separate. So even you turn off the secondary display its backlight will still Remain on.
Thanks

Question about the screen and backlight

I got a S5e today, and suddenly noticed this weird screen: when I view it at front, it looks fine, but as soon as I turn my device to bigger view angle, about 30 degrees, the screen turns "blue-ish". Even I turned my screen to "night mode", or increase warm color in color setting, it still shows "blue" white when I view it from side.
Is it normal? Should I return the device and get a new one?
