I saw nothing specifically saying "all or varying models of the Galaxy S line". They kept saying "Galaxy S" and had a picture of what looked to be the Galaxy S 4G device.
The Galaxy S 4G is a particular model in T-Mobile's lineup.

They always mean the full line when they do a release like that. They have not excluded a model yet.....just taken a real long time to debug. So start the countdown...we should see it 8 months after the i9000 gets it.

You guys realize they are reconsidering it right? And just because it's a "possibility" doesn't mean anything. I hate being pessimistic, but I don't think Samsung will come through. And why do people care so much? We're getting a port or cm9 either way. Which comes first? I don't know. But I wouldn't get your hopes up for something that may not even be true.
People sound so negative. Same thing with the Gingerbread upgrade. If it happens, it happens. But at least I have more faith in Samsung doing something, although it might take awhile. At least they haven't locked our bootloaders and promised to remove them, but still haven't unlocked them ala HTC.

All signs point to us getting it but it will most likely take 2 months for binaries to be released and a build to be compiled. And I don't want to hear the nah sayers going on and on that you can't trust samsung blah blah blah... Even noob said we are getting it and I know he is on this inside track.

We will probably get it around the time that 3.0 comes out or 3.1 usually how it works. 2.3 comes out now..sprint releases 2.2 to epics... at least we get updates faster than most US carriers do. Look at evo. Sprint plz OTA 2.2 already.

I expect things to change greatly once 3.0 comes out..this is when release cycles for android will slow down thus giving manufacturers more leeway..
Agreed. I think they are planning on phazing out UI overlays as well when 3.0 comes out. No more motoblur, sense, tw, etc. For the tech geek we like it because we port things over from other platforms. But the Ios boobs they just want something shiny and homoginized, and that's probably the demographing android wants to really take on

Well I wasn't particularly concerned with a Samsung released version of 3.0, as there is a "release" of 2.2 out for the Epic.
I would upgrade to 2.2 cause gingerbread source codes haven't been released yet...so it will take time for the Dev to port 2.3 over, cause their waiting for the source codes for 2.2 and 2.3....hope this helps

The second sentence is correct.
This first one is not, unless you are just recalling rumor and speculation. Neither Samsung nor Sprint ever said Froyo would be delivered to Epics before the end of the year. Of course, the end of the year is now 17 days away.

Gingerbread has had about 8 leaks for the Epic.
But it's still not official.
I'm not worried about updates if AOSP is going to support it.
I hear you, but the developers will most likely be a key factor. Aosp runs great, but is too bland foyer my taste...even with a third party launcher.

I think given the rumors of a 4.5 inch screen and 720p resolution, I'd rather wait for news of the Nexus Prime.
If for some reason it doesn't come out on Sprint right away, the SG2 would also be a worthy upgrade.

Not a good enough reason. If you notice the dfferent versions of GB they've went through you'll understand that for every GB version 2.3, 2.3.2, 2.3.3, and 2.3.4; Samsung took a month to two months of testing and improving. GB been in the works since april/may starting with 2.3 and now we're at 2.3.4. And from the looks of it they're in the last month of testing and improving GB
