It seems that Android 2.3.x is only available for new customers with new devices.
We should have an uproar! We should be running the beta of Ice cream Sandwich as their should always be a beta available to everyone who wants it. Heck I want Android Version 5 just because outside of google no one knows about it.

I expect things to change greatly once 3.0 comes out..this is when release cycles for android will slow down thus giving manufacturers more leeway..
Agreed. I think they are planning on phazing out UI overlays as well when 3.0 comes out. No more motoblur, sense, tw, etc. For the tech geek we like it because we port things over from other platforms. But the Ios boobs they just want something shiny and homoginized, and that's probably the demographing android wants to really take on

So, its been 5 days since our official release of gingerbread but only two roms are using it. Hell I'm even running a Rom built off the shift port. Is it junk or something?? I'd guess that its because it is only sense 1.0. MikG and Synergy are both solid and stable, and they have sense 2.1. I think that for most people, going back to sense 1.0 isn't acceptable. Especially when the shift ports are as stable as they are. I'm sure someone will work on the OTA rom though.

Nope.
We're loving the recent push of Android 2.3 Gingerbread updates, and the latest group to get a sweet taste of the Gingerbread will be HTC Evo 4G owners.
Sprint announced this morning that it will begin rolling out an over-the-air update on June 6 to deliver the latest software release. As usual, the update will come in batches and users will receive a notification on their smartphones to let them know when the update is ready for download.
However, if you simply can't wait, there will be a manual download option starting June 3, where you can access the update by going to the Menu option on the Evo 4G and then selecting Settings > System updates > HTC software update. You can find more details and instructions on Sprint's Community site.

I think that's just a software limitation and it could be fixed by modifying the kernel settings.
For example, when I had my HD2 with stock Windows Mobile 6.5, the maximum recording resolution I managed to get was ~ 640x480 .
with hacked Android 2.3 installed (Ported from the Desire) it jumped to 800x600!.
with hacked Windows Phone 7 (Ported from the HD7) it jumped to 1280×720!!!.

there samsung, all the reason you'll ever need.
Not a good enough reason. If you notice the dfferent versions of GB they've went through you'll understand that for every GB version 2.3, 2.3.2, 2.3.3, and 2.3.4; Samsung took a month to two months of testing and improving. GB been in the works since april/may starting with 2.3 and now we're at 2.3.4. And from the looks of it they're in the last month of testing and improving GB
Even though 2.3.7 is out apparently lol.
I however, could have misread.

Its now october and we've yet to see any official gingerbread and sources, I've lost all respect to samsung and there dev team. They've had 2 chances for an ontime release and failed both. Our latest leaks are crap with reboots and other difficulties. Even after about a half a year a major company cannot put out and release a quality piece of gingerbread.
Flame all you want, call me a troll for all I care, I'm tired of this ****.

It's October 3rd -- give it some time. It's obviously late, *****ing on a forum is not going to make it come quicker.

All the builds 2.3.5 and up are Nexus only fixes that were released due to bugs I believe. We won't be needing those fixes, but HEY Samsung, we will be NEEDING ICS (yes, we know u lurk around this place!) :O

At this point I hope we don't get gingerbread. Much rather wait another month or two and get ICS. That would be the **** if at the Samsung/Google event on Oct 11th they announce ICS builds for all of their Galaxy S and Galaxy S II phones.

HA! Then we would have it by October 2012!

Because Google's baby don't have touchwiz crap and blocked access to Kies. Don't be down on the Epic when none of the US Galaxy S series have gotten GB yet.

It's all really simple if you think about it.
Icecream sandwich isn't out yet. Therefore we don't have gingerbread. The general rule of thumb with these phones has been always being one release behind.

If I wanted to be locked in to a manufacturer's software release schedule so I could ***** about delays on forums, I would have bought an iPhone. Instead, I bought an Android phone and have had Gingerbread for months.
I'm pretty happy with Froyo... ACS made it manageable.

I could actually believe this. If you think about it, it encourages people to upgrade. Then the ones they know aren't going anywhere yet get the update after they sell their latest and greatest

Manageable Lol. My first cell phone came in its own backpack that had to be unzippered to raise an antennae and I still couldn't make a call unless I was in the middle of a big open area without so much as a friggin tree within 100 feet, and your ACS Froyo Epic is manageable. Haha that's funny sh*t right there.
Sorry couldn't resist, Flame on.
