Finding serial number - Eee Pad Transformer General

Hi Everyone
I've had my transformer for a while now and the serial number sticker is long lost to the mists of time. I was wondering; is there another way I can find the serial number of my transformer?
Thanks
Rich

SETTINGS > About Tablet > Status > Serial Number

Do you still have the box. It should be there.

That's not the same serial number as the one on the bottom of the TF or the box.

check your warranty card. It's there.

Thanks guys I'll dig out the box and hope

Its also on the box itself. On a white sticker on the bottom. so even if you don't have the warranty card, you should be fine if you have the box.
I took a picture of my serial number and uploaded it to myself via Gmail. That way it's always in my Gmail inbox. All I have to do is type " Tranformer Serial" in my Gmail search box, and it pulls it right up. And its forever stored on Google's Mail server.

You can also find the serial number on the bottom of the tab, next to the asus charging port on the bottom.

You can also find the serial number by a random number generator.

I think he said that the sticker came off so this would be pointless. Really the serial number is on the warranty card and the side or bottom of the box too so it doesn't really matter if the sticker fell off anyway.

Default SMS Picture?

In the Messaging app when SMS Message are threaded it displays a picture from the person the message was sent by, and another picture that is next to the SMS that are sent by Me. In the CM6.1 ROM the default Picture is a Grey Box...
Is there anyway of changing this?
I wish, this bothered me SO much at first..
Handcent allows it in the settings fairly easily well worth the small price to support good product that enhances my customization.
In CM, go to Settings -> Call Settings -> Additional Settings -> My Phone Number and put in your phone number.
Then make sure you have a contact with the picture you want to see in your contacts list associated with the same number.
And presto, picture.

This actually works...
Wish it would pull the picture from facebook like the original Slide ROM does, but at least the annoying gray square is gone..
Thanks for the help

Hi guys. I am also having this problem, admittidly with an HTC Saphire. I can't find any way to input "my number" anywhere. In settings "about phone" it says, number unknown and is greyed out. Anyone know how on a Saphire. Then maybe this would also fix my SMS picture problem.
Cheers, just in case.

The only downside I've found is that the setting doesn't stick through a reboot (so you have to put your phone number back in after each one). Upon checking, there's a bug tracker issue for that problem on the CM bug tracker so *shrug* hopefully it gets fixed some time soon.
Solution.
There is another longer thread somewhere on this, and the solution works, I have just done it.
Basically the sim card needs to be programmed with "my number". On my Magic, when you go to about phone, it would say number "unknown". Magic doesn't allow you to change this. Put your sim into another phone; I ended up using my girlfriends Backberry; and navigate to additional settings, or whatever, until you find Sim Card actions. Then in there edit sim card to show your phone number in international format (+44(leave out 0)**********).
Once done, pop card back into your phone, and as long as you have a contact with your number and picture logged away, then voila.
Works on any phone that allows you to edit sim card.
Hope this helps.

Also doesn't need resetting after a reboot, however I had to reboot to make the pics stay after re-entering the messsaging app.

Entering the SMS Center number in CM7 (No option to enter it using the messaging App)

This is how we enter the Message Center / SMSC number in the CM7 build ( as the messaging app doesnt allow us to update the sms number )
First Search for your SMS center number from Google
The go to the following link : http://www.twit88.com/home/utility/sms-pdu-encode-decode
Towards the center there is a section which has Sender reciever and message on the righthandside, now enter your message center number including the + ( ex - +919845087001 ) leave the reciever and the message blank and hit convert.
Now the first 16 digits is SMSC number, note that and follow the steps below on your android phones
Here you are:
1. Go to Phone Dialer, and press: *#*#4636#*#*
2. Select Phone information
3. Scroll down to bottom of the screen, you'll see the field for SMSC setting.
4. [Optional] Click Refresh to see current SMSC number.
5. Change the SMSC number as you want. Then, click Update

Try entering 0791198958004544 and it should work.
I was in a similar situation as somehow my SMSC number was updated to 00 and my SMSs were not getting delivered. Followed the steps from the OP and now all is well
This solution worked for me the best:
Code:
AT+CSCA="+380910440601",145
OK
AT+CSCA?
+CSCA: "+380910440601", 145
OK
The manual for +CSCA command is easily googlable. (can't post actual link because of spam protection)
I could only receive sms and not send. I am glad I found this thread. Followed the instructions from first post exactly and all is well again, and now I know what the smsc setting is for and to not delete it
Thanks anupsnair
Problem prevails

I am glad too I found this thread. After following the instructions, I had to do a phone re-boot to get it to work. Now I am able to send sms.
alphabet size must be 8 before converting the normal smsc number.

Try using quotes.

Or you can try entering your SMSC number through an older phone. Ex: in my s3 i wasn't able to change the number neither from messaging app nor *#*#4636#*#*. So i put my sim card in my older phone (nokia 6131) and tried to send a message and then a popup appeared requesting to type that center number (without quotes) and it was confirmed correctly, sending the message after that.

Nexus 10 Replacement

Hi All,
My Nexus 10's power button was broken right out of the box, it wouldn't spring back. It took Google, 4 days to sort the mess with requesting the RMA and as of now they want me to provide them with the CSSN number. I have given them the Serial Number and little bit of Google search tells me the same, Serial number = CSSN number.
The support rep insists I must provide the additional CSSN number for the replacement to go through. Anyone that has gone through the shipment ordeal - could you help me out? I'm getting pretty frustrated by this.
Thanks

Yes, it's the serial number and it's Settings > About tablet > Status > Serial number or on outside of box. The agent must be thinking it's the IMEI number??

THis is weird. I've returned 3 nexus 10 and all I had to tell them were the serial numbers. maybe you should contact another agent.

Believe it or not the first agent never asked me for the serial number.
Second one didn't realize it was missing and was wondering why the process never went through.
third one saw the serial number is missing and went forward with the RMA request.
Fourth agent told me the issue has been escalated so I should call back later.
Finally the fifth agent, the one I'm talking to now did manage to process the RMA. I finally received the replacement order email and return shipping label. I went ahead and did that and the order was processed.
Sadly the agent then told me he needs the cssn number to move forward with the return process.
I honestly thought Google would have something like this sorted out. I'm so annoyed. :/

Based in the picture you sent and what you said before, everything is ok, you have the Samsung serial number and the device serial number
http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000103
Why samsung serial number are different than Android serial number? When i used touchwiz Rom serial number in settings>about phone>status was like SN in label under battery.
On a stock Samsung device, the serial number in About Device > Status should be the Samsung serial number. That number should match the label beneath the battery. A custom ROM, even based off Touchwiz, may not necessarily use this number but instead use the Android serial number.
Now, as to why the Samsung serial number is different from the Android serial number, you need to ask that of Samsung. Just don't expect an answer.
I thought that SN was damaged when i flashed cm12.
Thanks for reply
