AXN TV Channel is showing G Note advertisements incessantly.
Sammy wouldn't be spending that money unless initial sales figures and feedback were very positive.
Interesting...
I don't know about other Asian countries, but here in India, they are advertising like crazy. Multiple TV channels, News Papers, Magazines. You name it. A few weeks after launch, they gave a full page ad in the news papers.
Also in Romania, a lot of TV commercials.
There's been **** all in the way of advertising in the UK!

The very moment stock arrive, expect it to be sold out within hours. That's how crazy it is in Singapore.
I am in Hong Kong, at local tv channel doesnt have any tv commerical screening buy galaxy note is selling quite well here,
Its quite common to see a note on the street, even many chicks using it .
I also waited a week when I ordered mine,
The salesman told me note is quite a hit now, been out of stock few times already.

Crazy. Nuts. Gaga.
I noticed a couple of road-side billboards and a TV ad, nothing unusual for a new flagship product here.
Here in India, the owner of the shop from where I got my Note, daily sells atleast 2-3 Galaxy Notes..
Consider this its from a single shop and that too for a high end device,u can easily estimate that the Note is selling like hot cakes.
“Phone? Tablet? Feel Free, It’s Galaxy Note”
In france, this is the same advert the christmas day on TV and in Theater !

It's out of stock at places. And the store keepers who usually offers some discount don't even talk of it when it comes to the note. It's like take it or leave it.
Selling pretty well here in Malaysia, and the salesperson told me that many also changes the color after a few days (from white to black or black to white).
Also, in the only satellite tv here, Note's ad is showing up like crazy...and I notice these few days SGSII ad also being aired..
It's always out of stock in the telco shops for Singapore. Got mine after waiting for a while!

If the carriers in the US allowed phone, I believe it would be selling quite well.
Just my .02, but i almost guarantee if the phone was functioning, sales would be awesome!! Either way, I love my two tabs, they are perfect in size, speed, and everything! Great device in all.

That is from one analysts speculation. I'll believe it when I see multiple analyst with the same conclusion.
Just keep in mind that this "production halved" bull**** is coming from ONE source, an analyst named Ashok Kumar. He's not the most reliable of sources.
Here's a breakdown on his ****ed up predictions and analysis just up to last summer, and just about Apple:

No evidence or references whatsoever are provided for this info.
Article says "Info suggests" and "an analyst suggests"...
Give me a break... until references and numbers are given... sounds like bs to moi.
I do agree that US sales would be up if it could be used as a phone tho.

I would personally think that he does make a little bit of sense on the pricing part. Despite the great features, performance and stability, the price is a too high compared to IPhone which is heavily subsidized when you signed up with some carriers. Not mine but i know most of the carriers don't subsidize much for this phone.

How is that bad news for Samsung Tab owners???? I already have one and yes the price will drop but I knew that when I bought mine.... I wanted to enjoy it now and not wait to save a few bucks....
The price drops on everything and there is always a better device on the horizon...
Phone should have been working. Price? Can't blame them for attempting to match Apple, but think the advantages at coming a /bit/ lower would have outweighed the loss of profit per unit.
Least they can drop the price now/offer more features. If they'd have started low, as great as it would have been, if sales had been crazy off the wall, they'd never be able to raise the prices.
So...
Maybe, there's probably a bit of truth to it. If there's a whole load of bundling announced soon (which will be the first step, not dropping the price) it'll be telling.
We'll see.
Not selling well
Here in Thailand it is hard to get your hands on one as it seams the first batch has been sold out.
Hey guys,
i just got mine from Taipei last week, its sold out everwhere over there. I heard their next shipment from the distributors is by the end of the month.
I luckily got mine on the last day of my trip after 2 weeks of constant searching!

The Tab is selling just fine. They are launching it on 4 carriers.. and when AT&T launches next week it'll be on all 4. It's selling fine. Try and find one in stock at a Sprint store in the Bay Area - I dare you.
I was in a Swisscom shop yesterday here in Switzerland, and they mentioned that they can't get enough in Stock.

plain and simple. People will or wont buy it. period.
I love analysts that try and "speculate" on sales forecasts on a device that just got released in a major market what...2 weeks ago?
Did i become impatient and pay the full price? hell ya. am i regretting it? hell no. This is the exact device I've been waiting for...I've played with a ton of different tablets including the original laptop - spin screen tablets...and this is hands down my favorite.
Pocket legends = wow....seriously? on a phone? its every bit as good as the original Everquest graphics were.
enough soap boxing....gonna go waste my day with PL now...as one of my favoritely mocked actors would say... "Shuck it Kumar...Shuck it loooong and hard!"
International version probably does better than North American but it should be no surprise to the carriers because potential customers having been voicing all along that:
International
Voice enabled
More competitive unlimited data plans
North American
No voice
Greedy tiered data plans
On top of that, the Tab's larger screen size is ideal for HD YouTube but there's no 4G on any NA version. I'm on Sprint and 3G buffers too much while watching HD Youtube.
looked at all the mobile manufacturer and nothing even compares to the screen size of the samsung will be released by the 1st quarter of 2011 and by far this is the dream phone i have been longing for a long time been speculating to buy an archos 70 and an android phone but the SGT really gives you the best of both worlds so enuff said this phone will definitely sell and it will have more developers working to port CFW definitely waiting for a cyanogen mod or even a Muiu would be nice
i walked it at 5:00 pm they had about 30 galaxy tabs of all flavors. I was the only one who ad bought one in two days. They were sold out of all ipads except 64gb Verizon models.
Who cares, to each their own. I drove all the way to Buffalo just to pick one up from Toronto. (First to get it in the Best Buy) haha.
Ipad will always sell more than the galaxy tab 10.1
Apple has perfect marketing.
So, you checked for 2 days or a BB sales man told you so?
When I read the topics here some BB's sales men don't even know they are selling Tabs
If anything the bee's are just really started making honeycomb.
A first proper start of Honeycomb tablet sales have started with the Asus Transformer. It's really picking up here in the Netherlands, most popular tablet on a big dutch site, where the Tab 10.1 has not been lauched.
I had to wander around a bit before finding the display (was set off on the other side of the Apple section, away from the other tablets/computers). Seems they were pretty popular though. They were out of both 32gb models and out of the white 16gb. Guy said I snagged the last Metallic 16gb (But of course whether he was just saying that is questionable). Down in Destin, FL so at least here in the white sands they are pretty popular.
there was a cage full of tabs and some sitting on the shelf. They had 30 tabs delivered a day late I counted 30. There were two guys arguing about purchasing a returned ipad2.
We have five Best Buys here in Jacksonville - all of them have the 10.1 in stock.. 32 and 16gb both colors.
iPad is definately more popular in my city.
Frankly like Sighx says, who cares. I'd rather question: send some to Europe asap

Cool story, bro.
This isn't a whine - I'm patiently waiting to get one when they are in stock - but I'm just a bit amazed at how the situation is unfolding with BB.
No store anywhere in Silicon Valley (or in northern California for that matter) has ever received any 32GB versions (they all received a small batch of only one of the 2 16GB colors - the color varies by store), and most of them gave all of their initial stock of those 16GB versions to people who pre-ordered them (but there are a scant few still in stores). And now they are fielding questions right and left about not having any stock. I imagine they'll put up a recorded message before the phone menu any day now just like they do for the iPad availability. This isn't a case of a huge sellout on day one, they are all complaining that they only originally received a handful and they were only of one of the 2 16GB versions. And the SF store has some egg on its face (almost literally) with the huge window on the front of the store sporting an enormous banner that implies that "this is the place to get your Samsung Galaxy Tab!" (or maybe not)... ;-)
And you could walk into any Microcenter or Frys in the area and get the flavor you wanted for at least 2 days (and some within 40 miles still have stock in most of the models even today) and they didn't need a big banner to advertise their stock (or lack thereof). Wasn't BB the launch partner with the special exclusive one week deal for NY - why is that the only store I can't get the right model in?
Between the huge number of (unfilled) preorders here and the number of phone calls they are getting currently and the fact that this is one of the seats of the computer industry in the country, you'd have thought they'd send at least one single 32GB version to some store here somewhere? But, no.
Wow, talk about missing the boat. Who at BB corporate managed to mess up the distribution this badly? At least I believe that the majority of tablet users are clear enough on what they want that they'll wait for it and the bad distribution choices won't really cost them a huge opportunity in the end, but if they didn't have enough to go around and they sent them mainly to places that don't know how to market them rather than one of the few places you know they'd walk off the shelves without any help from the sales staff (or the now tragically ironic huge banners) - that wasn't a complicated decision, no?
I'm waiting it out. I have a Xoom in the meantime whose days are numbered, but I'm waiting to take advantage of some rewardzone certificates at BB when someone eventually wakes up and sends some 32GB versions to the NoCal stores. Giggling a little, but with a frown.
Sales will be lukewarm at best. You need price point and ad money to sell things. Verizon saved android from a slow death in the phone market with its Droid campaign. Unless someone pumps serious money into tablet ads they'll continue to flounder. Outside of BB posters Noone has a clue what a galaxy tab is nor will they unless Samsung pushes hard.
Superior products don't equal better sales we all know that.
I had one on pre-order with BB but it was back ordered. I did a search and my local store had the 32g in stock. I picked it up and everything is working great. All I would like to see is more streaming capability

I said "do you know this is Father's Day and your website says their in stock- the drone just shrugged - I asked another if they expected someone to lay down $600 site unseen - same reaction.
Is it any wonder BB sales were down 16% last quarter?

It all depends where you located I guess.
Here in NYC it's been selling like cupcakes according to the sales guys and personal observation. When I went to pick mine up a couple asked me if it was an ipad2, after seeing it wasn't they were next in line to get it.
After I discovered a flaw with the screen and went to exchange it in a Brooklyn's best buy there were three other interested costumers.

Went to a couple of BB in NY.
One of them (Houston in the Village/ Soho) I asked about the tab and they said ' we have it but we didn't put it out'. I asked why, the guy had no clue.
They have zero accessories.
Went to the one on 6th ave and 23rd st (very big store). First BB employee said 'Yes we have it don't move I will be right back'. She never came back.
Second one said "accessories are there" pointing to the Xoom. I told her that's the Xoom, she said well that's all its left.
To make a long story short, I found the Tab and the accessories myself.
This is just to tell you that if BB employees tell you something it's usually 99% INACCURATE. Ask at least 5 different employees, or even better, do your own research in the store and you will find what you are looking for.
Fact is the average Joe wanting a tablet will just go ipad. It is easy well made tons of apps. Samsung is offering a nice alternative but without any real differentiation. No built-in expansion. No keyboard dock liked the Asus. Price point is no better than the ipad. Honeycomb is not mature enough yet to steal potential ipad buyers so one needs some extra hardware goodies line USB port or dock or HDMI and importantly better price point.
Sell Samsung at 449 and then people start to consider it. Make it 399-429$ and many will pass on the ipad.

You are very right. Salesmen told me it was instock. Then not, sold me hard on getting a pre-order. Promised to match price to amazon, 500 otd. Another girl rings up preorder, rings at full price. Leave store with promise it will be corrected upon pickup. Pulling up at the house, receive e-mail saying Tab ready to pick up.
Fail. Then had to wait on hold for 30 minutes to verify this was correct before I head back over.

Quite possible. I saw somewhere (no source to quote) China Telecom itself has arond 600million suscribers. That's more than the population of any country bar India/China.
If you conquer Europe and Asia, I believe the company would be more than satisfied with their result.
Looks like they're well on their way to hit 10 million units sold by years end. Best selling Android phone two years in a row. Way to go Samsung!
Approximately 2 million of the 12+ million SGS 1's sold were from North America, it didn't sell that well in the United States. I predict 3-4 million SGS 2's will sell in the United States before the end of the year, if the carriers don't **** it up.

I have no authority in this subject, but I am sure that they will fcuk up the device royally. Already seen that Sprint has a different design. All rumurs point to AT&T having a different physical design/layout. Why do you have all these different versions? Surely something will miss the intended target and you will notice GPS not working or Wifi reception poor or some other piss poor performance. Just let it be like internation versions, and everything (well most things) will be in order.
Impressive.
I think Apple are in a bit of trouble, they will have to compete with the SGS2 with the iPhone 5 which with the A5 they can easily do but within 6 months or probably allot sooner they will also be up against SGS3 and Tegra 3 devices.
I just hope Samsung launch products in the US earlier next time and give Apple a real headache.

Exactly. And they will NOT succeed.. End of.
Yesterday I made a trip to the Samsung flagship store in Westfield Centre Stratford City London to buy the Galaxy Note II a day earlier than the official launch day. I have to admit the whole experience was highly disappointing.
Firstly the store was being set up with displays, balloons etc etc just minutes before opening, staff seen scurrying around trying to get everything in place in time. Very unprofessional. When the doors opened, there was little enthusiasm from the staff, we we ordered around by a girl with a clipboard like we were queuing for bread!
There was utter confusion on the price and availability, I had 3 different stories from the staff, some had no knowledge of the device at all. One even said "are you buying it because of all the apps on the App Store" !!!
When we finally found out the true price we were all horrified when we were told the "special pre launch price" was £570 which was a staggering £50 to £70 more expensive than all the online retailers. They eventually listened to angry customers and dropped the price down by £20 but it still wasn't the best deal possible. The grey version was on display but no grey ones in stock.
Party atmosphere consisted of hastily blown up balloons at the entrance and a DJ that was playing music so loud I couldn't hear any of the staff.
The only freebies were bags of Jelly Beans and a cup cake each.
All in all it cost me a lot of money in petrol, parking and Westfield Centre food prices plus the hiked price just to get my phone 1 day early.
Only saving grace was some nice friendly people waiting in the queue and the phone of course is awesome!
But sadly Samsung could learn something from Apple about launch parties. That's not something I say lightly.
Haha yeah I would totally agree with you. I was there myself as well and the staff did not have a clue about the device. There was only one staff who really knew his Samsung stuff. The rest were very apparent temps who had iPhones in their pockets which they reached for to check the time of when their shift ends!
I agree that the only saving grace was the rest of the community who stood in line for the launch. We poked fun at the girls who gave out jelly beans in the blistering cold, laughed at the exclusive price Samsung were offering, teased at the non-availability of the grey version, and sympathised the DJ spinning his music which everyone ignored.
All in all, it was a memorable experience, not because it was so great, but because everyone in the line appreciated the Note 2 and put through the hassle of coming to the flagship store to buy or try out the new device. Everyone there were enthusiasts, unlike Apple lines where people just got it to be cool, Grandma's getting it for their grand kids who didn't know how to appreciate it.
We even had a footballer in line who was raging that there was only the white version in stock. He ran off in a fit after knowing.
What cheeky b****ds. How typical of a British retail outlet to try and fleece the general public with a stupidly high price whilst delivering an atrocious service. I tried to convince my girlfriend that we needed to visit Stratford yesterday but she wasn't having any of it. It sounds like she did me a favour. Sorry you guys had to pay a higher price, though at least it wasn't the price they first asked for. I really don't know why we always get screwed over in this country.
Hope you're having fun phone with your new Notes.

lol...I thought online stores are usually much cheaper than the physical stores, how can you compare them?

They clearly stated there would be a promotional price for the phone. So YES I DID EXPECT it to be at least as cheap as online. This is a Samsung store, they could quite easily absorb a small loss on each handset sold on this special pre launch one day only.

I don't know what do you expected. Nowadays, people has a smartphone just like has bread everyday. Nothing special.
About the price, I thin you should expect that all the online store raise up their price like iPhone. If you want cheaper one. Just ordered online. You got more choice.

I think you are missing my point. I believe the release of a new flagship phone IS 'Something Special' And early buyers who queue for hours outside for it should be rewarded with a discounted price.
I can't understand why you don't believe the Samsung Galaxy Note II isn't special!!

Why? I have seen Carphonewarehouse and Phones4U match online prices... Why can't Samsung in their OWN store with their OWN product sell at the same price?? Why do you think it's silly??

Because I have never seen any OWN stores selling their OWN products at the same price or lower....it may make those resellers business harder.

Exactly! Samsung store made a lot of people angry.
I am very happy with the phone so I guess I shall get over it but I won't be attending a 'launch party' again in the future.
I got my device on Saturday morning, a while two days before the device launched in the rest of the UK and a while day before the launch in the flagship store, very happy with the car phone warehouse, they gave me an early present even though they weren't supposed to launch until the 1st

The Note 2's there are locked to 3, so it's not the same as the SIM free ones from the Samsung store. Plus did you get any 3 bloatware at all?

That would be new, none of the phones I've had from them before were locked - I'll try a mate's SIM when I get the chance...
No bloatware on there (except the standard Samsung crap that I've disabled!).
My iPhone 4 was locked to 3 and I had to pay £15 to have it unlocked by them. I also asked in store just yesterday and they told me the N2's were locked. Though he wasn't convincing. I'd definitely double check with a non-3 SIM.

I was very tempted to go but I'm glad I didn't waste my time, would have been very annoyed. Poor show samsung.
I came upon this article about samsung's profit estimates for Q3 and one part caught my eye (it would be fantastic if it was true)

Galaxy Gear
Samsung may have sold 3 million of its Note 3 devices since the Sept. 25 release. The device, with a 5.7-inch screen, is a combination phone and tablet computer that touts improved software and performance compared with the previous model.
“The mobile rivalry will only intensify in the fourth quarter from the third, when Samsung had no strong competitor to fight against,” Byun said. “Depending on how well the Note 3 device will sell, that would determine not only its smartphone but its chip earnings in the fourth quarter as well.”
On the same day, the South Korean company also started selling the Galaxy Gear, a wristwatch device that can make phone calls, check e-mails and take photos. The smartwatch, priced at $299, competes with a similar device from Sony Corp. as electronics makers race to carve a share of the market for wearable technology.
That is not bad considering its a different target market and they didn't launch in as many countries on the 25th as say another company.

Just launched yesterday (3rd October) in Western Australia.
Don't forgot that "Sold" means Samsung sold that many to retail outlets, not to end users.

Ya, but I can't find an iPhone to save my life, I bet I can go to any AT&T Store or Best Buy store and pick up a GNote3 tomorrow.
