Many problems - Eee Pad Transformer General

Hi, I recently purchased this tablet .. but I found many flaws: yellow halo in the lower left, dust under the screen, 1 dead pixel, serial number invalid, crunch the left side .. you think I have to bring back? Many thanks to those who answer me

Sounds like you got a returned device return it.

Regarding the serial number, try registering it as a O and not a 0 (e.g. B7O, not B70.)

You got a defective product. Exchange immediately.

Hahaha, so your tablet is a he? You should try to look for a female version. The female TF's are just more pleasant to deal with. Less testosterone.
But yes, try to get a replacement now.

Mine is a she, when I look at the bottom, there is a slot instead of a post =0 however, about one week a month the tab won't turn on... Women sheesh LOL.
Seriously though, return it asap, make sure you tell the retailer what is wrong so they don't put it back in to stock.

Engraved lines

Hi, I'm going to buy a Nexus one, but I can't find any good idea for the engraved lines.
What did you write in your Nexuses?
hmmm
I did nothing, so if I need to unload it, then I can.
also i did nothing as if u personalize it, it harder to sell, and i think there was probs with sending it back,
Nothing. Partly because of the "can't return/hard to resell" thing, partly because I genuinely couldn't come up with a line good enough I'd want it stuck to the back of my phone permanently.
just my name & email...
Yea I didnt do this, though about it... but then was like, I go through phones to fast, and the chances of me selling a phone for a good price with it personalized...SLIM.
BTW, I thought about "No iPhone in my pocket" "
I put my First Name, Last Name on the first line, and my Social Security number on the second line.
In case someone finds my phone and wants to get it back to me.

I actually put the first name of me and my girlfriend and on the second line our date!
but later on found dust under my screen and ended up returning the phone and receving a replacement phone. so i lost my engraving.. ughhh!
and this one still has some dust issues...

There's also a ten dollar bill folded under the battery with a little note

You're right, that's pretty selfish of me.
I went ahead and put a twenty in, and changed the note to:
"Hello kind stranger, use the enclosed twenty dollars(it's under the battery if you haven't poked around yet you rascal, you!) and please send my phone back home. Feel free to keep any change that's left, it's not enough to make up for your kind action of returning my gadget, but hopefully you can enjoy a sundae or two from you preferred soda shop!"

Just got my new B70 from Best Buy

I took my 32Gb Galaxy tab today and asked the sales guy if he'd check the Transformer serial numbers for me. They had a bunch of B50's, a B60, and one B70, so I took it home.
My last Transformer was a B60, and I was more than happy with the screen and the non-creekyness of it, however, my buddy tempted me with the weight of the Galaxy 10.1. Needless to say, the greatness wore off after a couple days and an extra $200.
The B70 came out of the box with even greater quality than my first. The unit feels very solid, no squishy parts, very little (basically unnoticeable light bleed, and the ui on 3.2 feels incredible responsive even without my near standard 200-400MHz over-clock.
I have a new case on the way from Amazon, and I'm on the lookout for a dock to show up locally. I can say that since I started this tablet search, that I've been the happiest with the Transformer. The only 9.7/10.1" tab I haven't tried yet is the Thrive, and that little unit has issues.... Like crazy ex-girlfriend issues.
I'm looking forward to seeing what our lovely devs can put together for 3.2. Can't wait to get my CWM on.
Long live the Transformer.

Its the first 3 letters of the serial number and hence its manufacture date
Most people call them B40, B50, B60 and now B70 but the 3rd character is actually an O not a zero. I just call them by the first 2 characters but to each his own...

( before some smart-ass comes and said: "But they never 32GB only 31.87GB") We all know that. THX Anyhow cant wait to pick it up tomorrow and put bunch of "720p" movies on that thing (ok here another one" Why not 1080p Mr. German???") Because the internal memory, micro SD and the SD dock slot don't have the data transfer rate to support 1080p movies. You still be able to watch 1080p over WIFI though.

No insurance on the phone? I was going to say get a replacement screen on ebay but I just checked the prices and my god its not worth it.
Would probably be worth keeping it. Parts prices will fall in the next few months and could replace the screen pretty cheaply if you hold on to it.

I claimed it as lost, It fell off on a very busy road and I wasnt to keen on trying to stop traffic to get it. On the way home it had worked its way closer to the side of the road and traffic was a lot lighter so I decided to venture out (mainly just to see if my SD made it). I had already made the claim though as lost, since I didnt plan on trying to retrieve the phone.

Trade in a rooted xoom wifi tablet

Most of the trade in web sites including amazon do not accept rooted tablet. Any suggestions on trade in programs that will accept a rooted (very good condition) tablet. Other than selling it on ebay or elsewhere. I am looking to trade in for another android tablet (nexus 7).

Why don't you un-root it? With it being rooted, that would not increase the trade value of the tablet by much.
So I just unroot. I was under the impression once its rooted it pretty much loses the warranty forever so unrooting wont help. I will try unrooting and send it back to amazon (where I bought it from), and see what happens. Thanks.

If you return it to stock and relock it they won't be able to tell the diff.
I had sent my xoom tablet to MaxBack and since I did not accept their re-quote they sent me back my xoom. When I powered it on, the colors including the Motorola Logo have a blue tint. And its very very prominent, not just light but a clearly distorted bluish tint.
Could they have damaged display of the device or is it some setting related, anyone know?

Its weird. Mine had CM10.1 nightlie from Apr 12 when I sent them and the one I got back had the same too. But now after receiving I locked back the xoom to factory settings thinking may be its display settings related. But it has blue all over it. Camera too, when I go into camera blue patches are all over the screen. It definetley seems like messy affair to deal with them now.

For giggles, reroot it flash an updated ROM. See if it makes a difference.
Things seem to getting only worse with this device. I saw this message and thought to try rooting it again. But only if I could turn the device on. The display wont even come up now. Couple of times it flickered with the display of home screen and thats it now even if I am hard booting nothing happens, display is just blank.
I'll keep trying and will try to root it again if it allows me to.

Very unfair practice this company has. The supervisor from MaxBack called me and said that they did not have any other xoom in their inventory at that time and the device display issue must be because I rooted the device. I told him I have been using the device in rooted state for months now. He is not willing to accept its because of something they did. He said such issues are imminent when rooted and it could have happened on the day I mailed them the device so its not something that they can do anything about. And he says because the device was rooted they rated the device worth $46 but due to this issue now he is willing to increase it to $56. I just hung up the phone. Its totally unfair and ridiculous of them to so bluntly lie. The tablet was flawless before I sent them and now it wont even power on. And he says its because I rooted. Unbelievable, worst experience the very first time of dealing with MaxBack. Now all I can do is dump this in trash, they totally messed up the device.
I also asked him if they saw any issue when they received the tablet. He said they did not see any issue when they received the tablet. Still he says, we have seen such issues with rooted devices so your custom rom or rooting must have caused the issue not our testing of the device. It was pointless.

Any headway on getting your device to boot?
before receiving it back from MaxBack, I had already submitted a trade in at amazon assuming I will be able to unroot.
I did unroot after I got it back from maxback although the display was not good and eventually display went completely blank. But I did send it to amazon anyway. I am still waiting to hear from them. I think I may not get anything/much from amazon as I had opted for "no return". Will have to see, they are still processing my trade in.

4 exchanges in 1 day... all dead pixels, 1 dust under screen

I'm just gonna deal with it now. I guess I'm not gonna get a perfect one.
I would keep at it if I were you, I got a good one on my first try.
Lol, where do you find all these funky tablets? I haven't "really" closely examined my screen, but no issues. . It did irk me when my D2 started getting lots of dust under one corner of the screen, so I wouldn't go for a tab that had that prob new either.

With the ****ty QC on Asus' part. Yeah. you can.
Isn't the display bonded to the glass now? I know I've had dust get under the screen of other phones/tablets in the past but that shouldn't be an issue with the new N7 unless it was there at the factory.

I think I'm going to wait until google gets their **** together, I am sick of wasting my time driving back and forth between stores and feeling like an ass infront of these people returning this device showing them the dead pixel...

I've gone through 3 nexus 7 tablets. best buy refunded me, so that's good. went to gamestop since none were at best buy. 2 defected ones (dead pixel...black dot in screen). so now i am waiting on the second batch of units from gamestop before exchanging again
so reading that you exchanged 4 times gives me hope! lol

I feel dumb just showing the problem to them. I wonder what they think of me...
But I just force myself to think that it isn't the store's fault, but Google. and not to care if they think I'm crazy
Yeah I was surprised when I got a good one on my first try, too.
Its hard to get a perfect screen on a high res display like this one. I hope you find a good display and share the awesomeness with us

going back to gamestop... 3rd trip now... lord help me...
Asus has terrible quality control.
I bought an expensive motherboard that they say is tested to be sure 100% working, and they even offer a 5 year warranty on. When I got it, one of the PCI ports was dead.
Sure is tested 100%
Got mine this AM at Best Buy. Told the guy at the pickup counter I wanted to take it out and turn it on first and why. He didn't mind. Mine's puuuurrrfect!
I just got back from exchanging my first 16gb. Had a big dust chunk under the glass up in the top left corner.
Felt silly explaining that I couldn't unsee it, and I really just didn't want it to get worse since it was obviously sealed badly. Best Buy swapped it out for me no problem, but did investigate before doing the exchange.
I also complained about the crackly speakers, but it looks like my new unit has pretty much the same symptom. I guess the audio engineer who posted here was right about the amp just dropping bits to control volume instead of actually applying analog gain. :/ Maybe there will be a software fix down the line. (My NS4G had an app with a ton of tweaks to the chip including changing audio pathways etc...)
Turns out my new unit has a hot pixel. It's just one though... I'll probably do a warranty exchange with Asus in a month after some new batches have been made. I don't want to keep gambling right now.

I went to game stop at bellevue sq in WA for the second time.. great customer support once again
manager did come out and investigate... but I told him about all the issues it's been having and he understood...
it's not about telling them that once you see you can't unsee, etc... it's about telling them you are not settling for a defective unit
asus needs to figure it out...
edit: lol put catpcha in title by accident
