Pretty cool.

Very interesting.
Any better than our current methods?
works great
The HTC Supertool works fantastic, just used on my daughters EVO and it worked great and was very simple. I used the (un revoked) method on my EVO several months ago but the Supertool is much easier and faster

I puchesed both games previously and backed them up and wanted to play them on my new g2. I bought them for the motorola droid thinking they would work on my mts. They didn't and after reading about gpu's and what not learned why they didn't work and learned they should on my g2. I know they work on the hd 2 and n1 the older snap dragons.and have read other people in the tmobile forums posting about them working. But. I can't get them to.
nova works fine on my G2
I'm considering buying a HD 2 exclusively for Android. However i've read a lot about the g sensor and don't really want to take the plunge and end up not having working games etc.
I'd be buying second hand so no chance of returning if it doesn't work. It seems the android roms run just as good as native otherwise than the few with the above problem.
Can anyone confirm this or are there still issues with it being a WinMo handset?
In some beta phased ROMs auto rotation can have some problems. But this is a small percentage of all ROMs so don't be afraid, I didn't have this issue.
I have already tested about 10 different ROMs.
Go for it. As far as android on hd2 goes, well is as good as a native android, some of the roms here are amazing and work flawlessly. Even if HTC & Google tried to cook a rom for this phone now, it probably wont be as good as some of the roms here;-).
G sensor issues were resolved months ago. The only thing that someone might complain about is some auto rotation issues that only affect a handful of roms, but can be fixed using a different launcher.
Depending on the build you choose, android runs just as good, and in most cases waaay better than WM ever did. I bought my phone about 7 months ago, and only ran WM the first week I had it.
The HD2 is very easy to mod, and all of my friends love my phone, a couple have even gotten it because I showed them all the possibilities on them. And they are really happy they did.
If you have the opportunity to get one, I'm sure they are relatively cheap now since most people dont know about the massive community support for them and WM on them is pretty bad.

that sure is true
g-sensor works perfectly. Playing NFS Shift with zero problems running the rom in my sig....
I had a similar question to ask see my situation is that I have a Nexus One and I want a HD2 but I don't have the money to flat out purchase one because currently I'm not working due to being laid off.
I was thinking of trading my Nexus One for a HD2.
Now my question is what do you guys think, should I do the trade?
Hows the battery life now with the HD2 running on Android?
I remember reading last year on XDA that the battery life wasn't too good, have things changed with better roms.
Do you think it's even worth trading or should I just keep my Nexus One?
Any or all replies will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Its a win win both ways, both are really great phones
sometimes i wish i have kept my nexus because of the sleek and sexiness of it but most of the times i love my hd2
i bought a hd2 because i really wanted to try out WP7 also, right now i have WP7 and android dual booted and it is amazing
if you want to stick to just android, i think the nexus would be better (considering that the giant screen difference doesnt make a difference)

Bought an HD2 about a month ago and Android runs flawlessly on it. I had a Samsung Captivate last year and this performs every bit as well as that did aside from gaming (Hummingbird is a beast compared to the 1st Gen Snapdragon).
Haven't had any issues with games so far. Currently running the TyphooN CM7 ROM but have also used Hyperdroid CM7, Ultimate Droid and the official MIUI. All excellent, fast ROMs.
I bought the phone a year ago thinking I was going to be stuck on WinMo 6.5 forever. This is by far the coolest phone I've ever had.
I also had a similar question about this, I'm thinking about trading my vibrant for an hd2, but I'm not sure if it's a good trade or not, my friend has an hd2 and it was awesome! What would you do?
I second the above praise. The HD2 came out on Feb. 16th in 2010. There is not one other phone that came from then that is as current now. I am running NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.6 and love it. Very happy I got it.
the only problem for me is multitouch is really annoying when playing fps. It seems when 2 touches get close to aligning on either the x and y axis it become problem, so when I playing nove, sandstorm suddenly my person will turn around 180 degree. really annoying other than that no complain at all. best device I ever had, no regret buying this product LOVE HTC, next device would be htc sensation or htc EVO 3D

Hi
I'm trying to install NFS Shift on HD2 but the game on start shows only the logo and stops.
Is there a special procedure to install this game?
Hi,
I used to have HTC Inspire for AT&T but can't afford to pay $40 for data. Is it still worth it to use an unlocked Leo as a daily driver? I love the look of the phone, pretty similar to the Inspire, but I don't know if the specs are good enough to smoothly run Sense. Is it worth it?

It depends on the Sense ROM you get, but the HD2, with a good Android ROM, is quite outstanding. Currently my Android'ized HD2 is running Tytung's cLK NexusHD2 ROM and it is proving to be just as good as any OEM phone. The best Sense ROM I've used is Hannes Sense 2.1. Stay away from the Sense 3.0 and 3.5 versions. They're not worth even considering. They're way too laggy, buggy and unreliable.
Well no and yes. You know what, from my experience, no. Sense is a laggy piece of crap (Please do not take offense if you like sense, i simply hate it), and it will lag from the HD2. So no, if you want the HD2 for sense, then no. If you want the HD2 for experience then go ahead. However if all you care about is just general end user experience then please look elsewhere, the experience you get is more on the side for techies who will be fascinated.
As a "daily driver", yes do it.
Go used of course no point paying full price when a decent unit pre flashed can be easily located here or on Craigslist.
I am upgrading soon after 2 years IF a decent phone without too many issues FINALLY is released. But my HD2 will always stay charged when I do.
It is worth getting. You can run practically any mobile OS on it.. just that Sense 3.0 runs horrible on it. WP7 runs good on it and Ubuntu runs decently if you overlook the bugs... If you are looking to run sense, Sense 2.1 or below will run almost flawlessly.

Yes its worth it. I still use mine as a work phone, does everything I need. Dont worry about sense, Just flash a senseless rom and use a launcher of your choice.
Have a look at the samsung note first looks nice too

Actually, there are some Sense 3.0/.5 ROMs that have glitches fixes available for them [ Team Bluedroid Runnymede sense is one of them]. The fixes make the ROMs quite a bit more useable than ROMs without; I used one for a while and loved it, but I'm more an MIUI person, so I switched back.
Im considering the same... Want a phone to use windows mango on but im a massive android fan at heart and a phone geek.. its between a brand new hd2 for 230 or a lumia for 400.
Hi, i should have my Desire HD soon and am very excited.
I recently sold a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 (was rooted) and was wondering whether or not i should root my new phone and why...
The reason i rooted my previous smartphone was to make it faster but this one has three times the RAM etc. So would it be worth it now?
Also, does Juice Defender require root? It really helped my battery life with my Xperia X10...
Thank in advance!
I have one myself I have it rooted and installed with a custom rom called "Android Revolution HD™ 7.0.0" Great custom rom, would be a shame to not install ;D

Why not go for an ICS version? The IceColdSandwich is really nice, have a look at the android development forum of DHD.
While you are still waiting for your brand new DHD, why not prepare yourself with AAHK (advanced ace hack kit) and some good custom ROM. I would recomend you to try Android Revolution HD 6.3.2 (official base with Sense 3.0) or newer 7.0.0 (Sensation XL base with Sense 3.5).
Just don't wait too long to just rooted your phone and install custom ROM, cause once you have grip with good custom ROM like those cooked by mike1986 or JSLEnterprise you will never wanna go back to stock ROM with their bloated app.
I would second IceColdSandwich. Lord did a fantastic job and it has really made me appreciate my phone. When I got my Inspire (same difference as a dhd) it was really only because I needed a phone, this was free with ATT and I couldn't afford one of the "fancier" ones. Since going with an pics from, however, it feels like my phone is top of the line. Does everything I need it to do and now I can really care less if I have the newest released phone. There are still a few bugs, but Lord has been updating like mad recently so its only a matter of time before they get sorted out

Hey dude. Certainly yes to rooting it
As for Roms to use, a can recommend RCMIX3D Roms and Android Revolution Roms.
My experience of ICS Roms is not good.
But then I use my camera and camcorder loads, and they are the things that are not yet fully operational in any ICS rom.
ICS is coming to the DHD soon anyway, so properly cooked ICS Roms are not far away.
Best of luck dude.
Greg.

If you really need the root privileges then go for it otherwise you could wait a couple of months since ICS updates with sense 3.5 are going to be rolling for the DHD later this year. If you don't care about that update then get Ace hack kit, root it and I would recommend LeeDroid 5.1.1.
Good Luck!
Great info everyone, thank you. I have an evo 4g flashed to boost for the last 1 1/2 years and my screen cracked. I just picked up another one that is on metro but want boost since everything runs perfect. Is there a way I can do a evo to evo swap without using all the different softwares, etc? They are both rooted, s-off etc. any help on basically mirroring one to the other would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks to all for the years of help and support....
