Hi I was rooted with thors rom V14 and I wanted to return to stock and return it for a new one do to faulty WIFI and I re-flashed the stock recovery and flashed Acer_A500_7.006.03_COM_GEN1 from this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878&highlight=update) and now it boots and go's to the lock screen but when I unlock it, it gives me a error message saying ----The application Launcher (process com.android.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force close or report.----- Is there anyone who can tell me how I can fix this? I tried to reflash three times and get same message and its on the stock recovery not CWM so now I can't restore to my last backup Please help.
Have you tried and flash a different update-- that update you downloaded might be bad

sounds like you did not wipe date and cache.try that if no luck.
Format partitions wipe then reinstall.
If you don't understand the procedure look again where you downloaded the rom its explained very well.

Definately go to Mounts, and do a format.
Unfortunately, you cooked your custom recovery.
Try this;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227
Method 2. This will give you the unstable version. But you can run Iconia root, acer recovery, then, flash the stock image.
But this time, before you flash it, please do the 3 wipes, and Mounts format.
Or, you can just leave it at the unstable rom and turn it in.
Next time, wipe your mess beforehand...

Hello Everyone!
I was very happy Defy user, lately I've start checking new ROM's and finally I'm stuck with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127085 but then I've found out this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152377 and everything was back to normal... at least that what I was thinking...
I've start download my favourite apps and then I saw first warning, that there is not enough available memory on my Moto... I've start checking and I could'nt belive my eyes, internal memory is only 128MB...
I have no idea how this happend, so if there is anyone, who have similar situation, let me know please, how did you solve this...
Thanks
gajdem
yeahhh, had the same problem when accidently flashing the leaked gb rom and trying to get back to froyo via shadows' guide. i thought i was f***ed when i saw the decreased internal storage. but no problem just full wipe via stock recoevery and everything is back to normal.
I've got the same problem, but hadn't solved it yet. I've tried all the ways but cant get 2gb memory again, always 128mb, no matter the rom i flash, the wipes i do...
if someone knows how to solve it...thx
hi there guys,

I don't think you would get 2GB of memory on every rom you flash. The most you would get is 1.3GB as off the rest was used by the system data files. This is what they called it share memory. And only froyo and gingerbread has the build in app2sd ability to conserve internal memory space by putting some off your app in sdcard. You must perform cache/data wipe whenever you're flashing a rom or sbf to eliminate any junk files in the memory.

Same problem!
I'm having the same problem even after installing multiple versions of the android 128MB internal memory keeps appearing. does anyone have any solutions?
I solved this doing a Factory Reset, in Settings > Privacy.
i doubt it's that easy...
but i'll give it a shot
I've had the same problem. I think its from following this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14762402&postcount=143 .
Tried to do a factory reset from MIUI. Didn't work. Then I restored the nandroid backup from the post above and tried a factory reset from that and it seems to have fixed the problem. Well I have 1.15 gb instead of 80 mb anyway. Hope that helps

This works! Thanks man
If you have downgraded from the FULL GC SBF FLASH(instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982)
after you flash the fixed sbf after downgrading do a factory reset and voila you will get 1.17 GB internal space!!!!
read, read again, and again.
i missed this information, that Factory reset must be done after Fixed sbf.
i did it at the end with cm7, no help.

also for me, the Beginners Guide did not work.
the only way i found after 10-times doing it:
Method 2: (BIG thanks to Jebrew again for this one)
NOTE: You are going to need CM7 for this one. CM7 Stable version recommended.
Download this SBF and Flash it.
!!!now i did Factory reset and got back my 1,24GB memory (Y)
Root your phone.
Download 2nd Init 1.4.2 and Install ClockworkMod Recovery.
Reboot to CMW recovery, and wipe Data/Cache.
Install CM7 then install Google Apps.
!! here my defy 525 red lens did not go there => Reboot an go into Stock Recovery (using the vol- button, not from Bootmenu).
Do a Data/Cache Wipe or you won't have any space when you're done.
(but it makes the same, as Factory Reset in the Fixed rom, i think)
also CM7 did not boot up, stuck on Google logo.
Flash this Fixed SBF
Reboot into your nice new rom.
Do not Wipe Data anymore or you will have to start again.
Hi,
I am new to tablets so please bear with me
I downgraded my 3.2 A500 to 3.0.1, root it and than installed a custom ROM Thor 3.2.1 (v12) using Acer Recovery Installer.
1) I've noticed that Email (exchange + others) is gone and no way to put it back
2) Other previously installed apps like Acer Folders are gone too.
3) The tables is slower than before although people keep bragging about how fast this Rom is.
I've seen couple of posts saying that Email is lost because I didn't full wipe the tablet. What is full wipe? is it factory reset? is more than that? is a program that I have to run? I've also seen people talking about clear data + cache? What is this command?
Please advice how can I get a custom rooted ROM to be as close to the stock one?
At this point I should factory reset the tablet to get my email back or I have to start all over again?
Any idea in this myriad of terms an acronyms would be highly appreciated!

When you flash a new ROM, especially a custom ROM based on Asus, and not Acer (like the Thor ROM), you generally retain nothing after the flash, unless you'te merely upgrading from one version to the next.
Before flashing a new ROM with CWM, proper formats and wipes should be done to clean out all residuals of the previous ROMS.
Wipes menu
1) Wipe cache
2) Wipe Data, Factory reset
3) Wipe dalvik cache
4) Wipe battery stats
Mounts and storage menu
5) format system
6) format data
7) format cache
8) format flexrom
Install zip from sdcard
Choose zip file
Flash ROM
reapeat steps 1-4 (not 5-8!)
Reboot, and follow setup in your new ROM.
Some people will consider this redundant, and overkill, but rest assured that you'll not have half the problems that most people have after flashing a new ROM that don't do a proper wipe, and format.
Doing this by memory, will reboot, look at the menus again, and correct if I missed anything in a minute.
EDIT: Just rebooted into recovery, and checked. Method above is correct.

If you want a ROM that is close to stock as possible, hit the DEV section of this forum and choose a Stock rooted 3.2 ROM.
---------- Post added at 11:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:47 AM ----------
As to your comment about the Thor ROM being slower. I found that while the transitions were much smoother, boot up lagged and was slower than others, and shutdown took longer as well.
On the plus side, I've never gotten GPS lock so quickly in my life, nor with as many sats as I did with the Thor ROM. I had a look through the ROM, and there are many more files and folders that are Asus specific related to the GPS hardware that Acer doesn't include, thus the horrid GPS performance on the A500.
Thanks a bunch!
Just couple of question: Given the fact that I am already in the situation of having Thor ROM what do I do now?
Or on the alternative given the situation, if I choose to install a rooted stock ROM will all come back to normal?
Note: I don not try to preserve the existent data, just to get the tablet back in a good working state.

Do a complete wipe, format, and install a pre-rooted Stock 3.2 ROM if you want it as close to stock as possible. This is what you want if that's the case.

For all new to flashing make sure, you always study the directions, and do not attempt till you fully understand each step. Once you do a few flashes, it all will become easy. This is a good thread for the new comers.
Ive downloaded this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278214 but It still keeps the old Big DX Red theme I had aswell as the old wallpapers. basically I want to go to complete stock but still have CWM and Root. Anyone have any suggestions?

Here is a link where you can get instructions and all of the .img files you will need to return your xoom to stock. A little heads up, you will have to create a username (email) and password, but what you need is there.

Hi, I have some weird behavior with date and time in CM11 and CM12 - through settings i try network time and then manually but after reboot it reverts back to 1st January 2014 - Very Strange and anoying!!!
Then if i connect wifi or data on phone, the time goes correct!
Another strange thing that in TWRP time is total different from actual and that reverted in CM11. So I have three "times": original we live in, for CM11 or CM12 after reboot and for TWRP What can i do?
What i have tried:
Factory reset
Tried CM11 and CM12
Other versions of TWRP
Tried ktoonsez kernel.
Im out of options, what i need to do? Im very very upset and tired of this problem.
Please help guys

Hi, it's my first time posting so I do apologize if I posted this in the wrong thread.
So I recently flashed the latest CM12 Nightly Rom for my S4 I9505. But I realised I needed to restore my backup (which I did with Nandroid before I flashed the ROM). So I went to CWM Recovery, tried to restore with the backup I did.
Everything was fine until I got this : "Error while restoring /system". I thought maybe the one in the phone was corrupted so i copied the one from my PC and still i get this error.
I'm hoping someone can help me on this.
Thanks!
just follow the following steps
1. full wipe data+dalvik cache
2. copy your backup to pc
3. open nandroid.md5 in notepad
4. delete everything and save it
5. now copy the backup to sdcard and restore it.
Enjoy
Hit thanks if I helped you.

First, remove your Google account (no big deal, you can sign back in in a few minutes). Then, go to Settings>Apps>All> Scroll down to the G's until you get the first thing that has Google in it's name. The first one on my phone (galaxy nexus, CM) is called "Google Account Manager". Click on it and hit "Clear Data". Repeat this process for everything Google in the list. Now sign back into your Google account. You should never see that message again!

I'm trying to do as you said, but the problem is the message pops up again the moment i dismiss it, and i cant even do anything else (only able to switch the phone on and off). And I also notice that some apps are starting to crash too.. is it possible to first flash an official Stock Rom and then do a restore?
maybe or maybe not
but I will suggest u to restore it once again and then do a factory reset , maybe it will work.
restoring it after installing stock will be always an option, but can't guarantee that you will not face the com.gapps.... has stopped working error.
.
---------- Post added at 12:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:10 AM ----------
r u recieving this single error or there are more apps crashing
?
This error and also error messages for some of the apps that say the apps stopped working.
I'm just worried that the backup is corrupted (Praying hard that it isnt the case)
Oh btw I'm using a CWM from ROM Manager version 6.0.4.7, I did some reading and they say there's a chance that it doesnt work well with Samsung phones. Do you think I should use another?
there is one more option also, which I think may work
just download gapps package from the given link and flash it using recovery
make sure you choose the right package as per your android version
http://www.android.gs/download-install-and-flash-google-apps-for-android/
