So, I have just gotten my Kindle Fire. I decided to install Go Launcher EX on it and it seems to have messed it up. My Kindle is not rooted (and I don't want it to be rooted).
When I installed Go Launcher, it froze my device so I restarted it. When I turned it on, a selection comes up for which launcher i want to pick. Then it says unexpected error in the notifications and freezes...
How do I fix this? Also do you think customer support will accept this return to get a new one?
EDIT: It seems only the interface is frozen, because when I hold home button the shut down menu comes up.

I would appreciate some help on a question I have regarding my boyfriend's MyTouch 3G 1.2. (I hope I posted this in the correct place, moderators please be so kind to move if I did not.) The other night my boyfriend brought me his phone over and asked me what was "safe" mode. His phone had apparently booted itself into this mode for some reason I am unable to ascertain. His phone said "safe mode" on the bottom left of the screen and had reverted back to the stock launcher or home screen ( I had him running ADW Launcher instead) and all of his apps except for stock apps and one " food finder" app were gone. I checked his phone, when I saw no apparent damage or cause for this I pulled his battery and restarted the phone. It immediately started back up with no problems and went back to running ADW Launcher and all his downloaded apps reappeared. It has not happened since. If anyone could answer my question I would be grateful. Thank you.

Don't worry, this is the right thread.
Safe mode can be enabled be booting the device while holding the menu button. (I think... at least it was on the G1) and it basically runs the system service, acore, phone and launcher. That's about it. Other apps that would normally start up at boot are disabled to include secondary home screen Apps.
Your boyfriends phone should be fine.
I had widget locker installed, it was working great since yesterday. Today this problem started.
Once the screen goes off/sleep, I can not turn it back on. Using either the home or power button. I removed widget locker, and set the home action back to ADW Launcher.
The phone is seemingly still working, because I was on a 10 min phone call, but after the screen would not come back on, so I couldn't end the call or use it at all. I have to pull the battery, and turn the phone on to use it, of course that's only useful until the screen goes off again lol.
Any ideas? I am going to wipe it/reapply the rom tonight to see if that fixes it, but not sure how it could be software now since the only new app lately was widget locker and I've uninstalled it. I also got rid of NoLed just in case it was that, although it wasn't enabled.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
I also noticed something while using Widgetlocker, sometimes when i unlock my screen, the "BACK" softkey when pressed does not vibrate the phone! the menu one does... I need to lock the screen and unlock again and voila... its working
Seems like Widgetlocker is bringing lots of problems
check what software you have installed recently
most likely one of those apps is keeping the screen off

Well the ones I installed recently was Widget Locker. Before that I didn't have the problem, and I've removed that app. I haven't installed anything else in the past day.
I was just reading about setcpu potentially having this problem. Which would be weird since I've had that installed for a week and just now am having issues. I'm playing with it's settings now.
you can always to a quick format and restore the settings to ROM default

and reinstall each app, to see which one caused the problem
I have a non-rooted Droid 2 and the Desk/Home dock. When I first tried it out, it worked as expected--starting the home dock screen when placed in the dock. However, I now find that whenever I dock the droid, the notification bar shows that it is connected to the multimedia dock but it does not start the dock application. I used Astro to browse the /system/app folder and found a file Dock.apk- clicked on Open App manager and then Launch at which point I get a message saying "Activity not found com.motorola.dlauncher". I am assuming this is related to why the dock app is not running when the Droid is docked.
Can anyone PLEASE tell me why this suddenly stopped working (related to trying to see if a magnet next to the phone will do what the dock does?) and more importantly, what I can do to get it working again? I do not want to do a factory reset as I have spent all too much time getting apps loaded and configs setup. The app appears to be there but it won't run.
THANKS.
Sounds like maybe you removed a necessary apk from the phone, something that contains the missing activity...
I agree that is what it looks like but unless an app can do that on a non-rooted phone, I don't know how I managed to do that. Also the dock.apk seems to be there (unless it is damaged in some way). So now , the question is how to further narrow down what is missing or damaged and how to repair it.
You probably installed another app/program that changed or disabled that functionality. Hard-reset. Try again.
Given how much effort I have expended getting this Droid to where I want it, I would really like to avoid doing a factory reset. I don't know of an easy way to backup all of the apps and settings so that they can be restored (as is possible on the iPhone) unless the phone is rooted. Can anyone suggest what I might try doing other than a hard reset (which is the Verizon answer to any problem they can't solve).
Thanks.
OK... You said that when you load it in the dock, the notification bar indicates that the dock has been detected... So what happens when you drag the notification bar down and tap on the "Multimedia Dock" notification? Does the Dock app load, or does it give you the error at that point as well?
I don't believe this...I have a feeling that you were about to actually solve this problem because after trying to get this to work innumerable times, I just put the Droid in the dock to tell you precisely what the message was ("Multimedia Dock Detected" and when I tap on the notification, " Activity com.motorola.dlauncher not found") and low and behold it started working again. Very strange (unless VZW is doing OTA changes that somehow repaired the problem. I think that it knew you were going to tell me how to fix it
Thanks!
well, I didn't have an answer for you, merely going to try and help troubleshoot a bit. Glad you got it figured out.... Did you do anything to it since the last time you tried? Reset the phone?
If you had a rooted phone, there would be lots more that we could have tried, such as moving files and checking permissions...
Hope you are enjoying your Droid, despite this problem....
Hi, I'm hoping someone here can help me out.
Yesterday I tried downloading and installing Go Launcher because I wanted to add keyboard language change options. I found an article whose steps involved first downloading/installing Go Launcher. It was supposedly a way to do it without rooting the KF? There was nothing but positive feedback and no one else seemed to have a problem with the GL app, so I figured I'd try it.
Unfortunately, when it installed and I tried to use it, it froze. Sadly, I had checked the "use Go Launcher as default" option and so wasn't able to switch back. I ended up trying to turn it off and then back on again but was then stuck with the "Kindle Fire" splash/loading page. That's all it does now. I've tried to hard reset it - to no avail. Even my computer won't recognize it anymore. Not sure if it's relevant, but I even let the battery die and recharged it. It seems I've really killed it. -_-
I'm planning on returning it and getting another. But before I do that, I wanted to see if anyone can help me possibly fix whatever might be wrong with it.

Thanks for this. I read it, but didn't know it applied to me.
Here's what i did I did the hard reset but when it shut off I left it off for like 10 minutes then turned it back on and it loaded up no problem.
Not 100% if this is a question or not, or just me giving you a heads up (the latter is my thinking)
I was talking to a friend and he wants to get his kid a kindle for kids, I said just get the HD 8 and use parental controls.
I showed him it on mine, went ahead and turned it on, then selected apps / block, the kindle Rebooted and all my extra apps had gone but were still installed.
Went back to parental controls and switched it off.
Now the play store is still installed but not a selectable app, nor is anything I downloaded, not sure how to get them back, I'll sort it by removing them and reinstalling.
Just a heads up for anyone who for the whatever reason presses that button. It's just a pain to get them back how they were.
Also, if anyone knows how to put them back, let me know.
