Hi, I'm hoping someone here can help me out.
Yesterday I tried downloading and installing Go Launcher because I wanted to add keyboard language change options. I found an article whose steps involved first downloading/installing Go Launcher. It was supposedly a way to do it without rooting the KF? There was nothing but positive feedback and no one else seemed to have a problem with the GL app, so I figured I'd try it.
Unfortunately, when it installed and I tried to use it, it froze. Sadly, I had checked the "use Go Launcher as default" option and so wasn't able to switch back. I ended up trying to turn it off and then back on again but was then stuck with the "Kindle Fire" splash/loading page. That's all it does now. I've tried to hard reset it - to no avail. Even my computer won't recognize it anymore. Not sure if it's relevant, but I even let the battery die and recharged it. It seems I've really killed it. -_-
I'm planning on returning it and getting another. But before I do that, I wanted to see if anyone can help me possibly fix whatever might be wrong with it.

Thanks for this. I read it, but didn't know it applied to me.
Here's what i did I did the hard reset but when it shut off I left it off for like 10 minutes then turned it back on and it loaded up no problem.

Hello, all.
I am having an issue with my Iconia A500. The screen will quickly shift screens back and forth on its own for a while and then it will freeze. I was hoping to reset, but since I cannot get it in to any of the menus, I am unable to do so.
Is there a way to hard reset without booting the device up using the reset hole or another way? Anyone ever seen this screen problem?
Thanks for your help.

I found that holding the power button down for about 30 seconds will force a hard boot.
(This is specifically mentioned in the manual downloadable from Acer's site).
As for the "flickering" and refusal of the A500 to stay asleep, it seems to be related to background wifi activity. Disabling wifi before putting it to sleep will make it stay asleep. At least that happens with mine.

By the looks of things it seems like the music app is launching then quiting and launching and quiting... I don't see a screen issue but rather some kind of corruption or instability. Try a reset or uninstall/update that app.
i tried many reset but it doesn't worked. i tried to do the update.zip but unsuccessfully. i try to push the power button +30sec it doesn't worked too.
and i can't update or uninstall the app because i can't push on the tab because of the constantly launching/quiting.
Ya... I don't know man.
Is there anything you might have done to cause the behavior? SD card installed with music on it? rooted? Installed (bad) apps?
Maybe someone with more knowledge has some ideas.
You could always try to return it and get a new one...?
None of these.
Stock, just few minutes using (i was configurating it). No root. No apps installed, just an automatic update of google maps.
I'll see with Acer if they can give a solution

The news:
Tab was down. Acer's warranty sent me a new one. I don't know what was the real issue because they don't said me any information.
Hey,
So I just completed a factory wipe and set up my phone again. Strangely though, the middle button on the phone that is defaulted to close all windows/applications and go "home" doesn't seem to do anything anymore. I can tell it still works as when the screen is off, pressing the button wakes up the phone, but after that it does nothing.
Anyone know how to fix this? Not sure where it would be in the settings.
Thanks
I had this when I installed a new launcher...the ONLY thing that fixed it for me was to reinstall the rom. I tried wiping everything I could without getting rid of my data...but in the end that is all that I could do. But it did fix the issue. Sorry if you were hoping for something easier...maybe someone else may be able to help you.
I am still using the stock launcher :S
Try with another launcher to see if it works. If it does, go back to the standard launcher to see if it now works.
So, I have just gotten my Kindle Fire. I decided to install Go Launcher EX on it and it seems to have messed it up. My Kindle is not rooted (and I don't want it to be rooted).
When I installed Go Launcher, it froze my device so I restarted it. When I turned it on, a selection comes up for which launcher i want to pick. Then it says unexpected error in the notifications and freezes...
How do I fix this? Also do you think customer support will accept this return to get a new one?
EDIT: It seems only the interface is frozen, because when I hold home button the shut down menu comes up.

Hey guys,
HALP
Is there a good way to pinpoint exactly why my phone random reboots? So far I've already done a factory reset and it hasn't helped. Even with only installing basic apps (google apps, twitter/insta/snapchat/evernote)
Even with none of those apps installed, it would still reboot.
Tonight my phone was at 48%, I picked it up, sent a text message, put it down, picked it back up and it was on the Google splash screen rebooting.
I downloaded Catlog, will that help diagnose, and what should my settings be?
Thank you so much in advanced for any help yall can provide
PS, my phone has always been stock and never modded in any way.

Have you tried flashing the factory images, along with formatting the internal storage? Factory reset was a good idea, flashing the factory images is the next step. Do that and don't install any apps, if the problem remains then you're probably dealing with a hardware failure.

Is your case "accidentally" holding down the power button? This was my issue.
Boot the phone in safe mode and check if the phone still does a constant reboot... in case it does.. there might be some hW issue as you already got the factory reset part going...
SENT... isn't that enough
Thanks for all the responses. I ended up losing patience and sending it back to my phone insurance for testing/replacement. They were the last to take it apart for a screen repair so I'm hoping to pin any hardware issue on them and they'll replace it under the warranty of the insurance plan I purchased with them.
If they offer me a definitive diagnosis I'll update as well.
Cheers
Hey guys, I have had my Note 4 for about 3 years now and it has never done me wrong. However, things have taken a turn for the worse... I started noticing a few days ago that it was slowing down on me, I mean, really slowing down. Big lag times when it comes to swiping to open the screen, or changing between apps, and the occasional self-shut down when the battery got down to about 15-20%. I had been putting off doing a self-update for a while, and when I finally had time to do one tonight, in hopes of cleaning it up, it is now lying on its death bed
I do not think the update ever finished (my phone is not rooted) but I was desperate enough to even do a factory reset and that has not fixed the issue.
Here are the symptoms:
As I go to boot the phone, I get past the Samsung Note logo and it looks like it is about to load properly, but then I get a popup that says "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" I hit ok and it keeps popping up again. I can't bypass it.. Then after I get passed that for a split second, another popup comes up that says "unfortunately system UI has stopped" It prevents me from getting to the home screen, in fact the screen behind it is black.
I have tried the following:
Clearing the cache partition from the recovery screen
I have done numerous hard restarts
I have gone through with a factory restart
That is where I have left off, and lost most hope, was with the factory restart. Now when I turn it on, I get past the logos and I can see in the background the page you would get as if it was a brand new phone (it says "Welcome! Preparing you device for first time use.." etc. But I can't do anything about it because I am still getting the same two popups that prevent me from doing absolutely everything!!!)
I have read about this happening and people seem to be able to fix this by accessing certain app setting and either resetting them, or clearing their cache. However, that is not an option for me because I can't get that far. I think something must have went wrong during the update...
Please help with any advice you can think of. I have been putting off rooting this phone pretty much because I was afraid of royally f****** it up, but at this point I am willing to try anything.
Thanks,
Eric
Hey guys, does anyone have any suggestions for my issue?? I am about to go out and buy a new phone, I have no idea what I can do to fix this. I have rooted it using Odin, but the popups are still occurring. I can't get the popups to stop, and they are preventing me from doing absolutely everything.
Is there anyway I can get it to go back to complete scratch? Again, I have done a factory reset, cleared the cache, rooted using Odin. I have done everything I can think of/what I have read I can do. I am willing to try anything at this point.
UPDATE: At this point my phone is on, and the only error message/popup I am getting is "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." Behind that popup is a blank, black screen. The only option I have is to click ok, and the screen remains black.
Temporary solution that might work- Try logging in safe mode: Switch off the phone. Power it on and as soon as Samsung logo appears, release the power button and press and hold the volume down button. Release button when you see Safe Mode on the lower left corner of the screen. Try uninstalling all user apps in safe mode. To get back to the normal mode you can drag down from notification and disable safe mode.
You could also download the latest software for your model from samfirm and flash it via odin after factory reset. Could be a permanent solution.
why you just flash last frimware from sammobile,it will solve all your problems
SOLVED!!!
Alright guys, I was able to solve my problem, all thanks to this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/general/stock-tar-odin-flashable-t3250864
I had already tried flashing a fresh stock rom, but to no prevail. I saw this thread and thought, hey why not give it a shot, and bingo! After downloading the .tar file for marshmellow and launching it through odin, she was good as new! So if anyone seems to have a problem with the system ui or the process phone.android popup, I suggest that thread.
