note app that saves in .txt file? - Desire HD General

Hi, I would love to have an app similiar to colornote which saves the notes into a .txt file so that I can easily sync it with "FolderSync" (or smiliar) via my own server and simply open the .txt file on my computer. Is there anything like that? :S
Maybe a simple notepad would do it as well ?
Thanks

You really could have googled this... or just searched the market.
Even dropbox saves ".txt" files.

I need an app on android which will let me edit .txt files.. which are saved on the SD-Card.
And **** dropbox. I want to sync the files on my own server. Preferable as soon as the file changes. Maybe FolderSync will do the syncing job. Still I need an note-taking app. ColorNote would be awesome but it doesn't save the notes on the sd-card?

[Q]Push Files To Android Via Internet

Well, I'm a typical WinMo guy. So please, excuse me if this is foolish. But, according to the research I've done, I think this topic has not been touched.
Many a times, we work on desktop PC. We have some of our files which we would DEFINITELY want on our Android. And we don't always have our device tethered to the desktop computer! Its also tiresome to manually copy files to the device!
Is there any service which allows us to sync our PC as well as Android with cloud? I wish, I can just put files on a folder on PC and they will be available on my device. Yeah! I know you would shout 'Dropbox'! Actually, in Dropbox, we have to manually download the files which we want. I want the automatic sync of a folder (chosen by me) to my device, so that it syncs in background and I have my files available on the go.
Thanks in advance.
Dropbox automatically syncs the dropbox folder... why dont you just use that as your chosen folder? Im not sure but i believe you can also choose whichever folder you want to use as you dropbox folder.
Sorry if this doesnt help
Actually dropbox does _not_ sync to Android devices. Their Android client does download on demand only, which really sucks, and I complain about it a lot.
Given that their iPhone client _can_ sync selected files it's just pure lazyness on their part.
But, this thread wasn't meant for DropBox discussion. Is there anything which solves the problem! C'mon Dropbox team, you need not to worry about our storage space! Get us app like iPhone!

editing network documents

We keep a budget spreadsheet on our network. using a file explorere I can open xls file and edit it in Quickoffice. However, i am unable to save it back to where it was opened. The sav button saves the file with a temporary name in a local folder instead of back p on the network.
Is anyone aware of a office compatible editing app that will read from and save back to a network shared drive or if there is a way to make a shared folder appear as a local folder?

Dropbox syncing files to phone without favorite

So I finally got the device where I wanted it yesterday. Today I notice that my available space is already down to 5gb without me putting much on the phone. After digging around, I found that there is a folder called documentsync that holds 2gb of my dropbox files and it seems to be putting more on there as I type. I think this is causing my phone to die a quick death as it was burning batteries on standby. Anyone have this problem?

I had the same problem. I can't believe that Samsung has this turned on by default. Go to settings > accounts > cloud and turn off Document Sync. This will then remove all the content from your device.
I never use Samsung 's implementation of Dropbox sync. It is poorly done and uses internal storage.
3rd party apps do a better job in folder to folder syncing with more controls over the directory location and sync schedules.

Yup, my god. After installing my apps and configuring my phone, I saw that the disk space was down to around 3GB. It made no sense, and I started cursing the pre-installed S4 software like everyone else. I removed stuff with Titanium, and even directly using a root folder browser, and I pray I didn't break anything. The next day, I finally noticed that "DocumentSync" folder and had no idea what it was, except obviously its directory structure matched my Dropbox account. I still couldn't find any info, so I simply deleted it. Somehow, I think I'm lucky that I didn't delete all my Dropbox content. After reading this thread, I check the setting and it was already turned off, so I have no idea how that happened (perhaps when I deleted that folder). Really stupid of them to background sync several gigabytes of data on you by default with no warning.
In fact, the first day after getting my phone, I got a warning that my disk space had been filled up. It completely made no sense, so I unlinked and re-linked my cloud apps, and cursed the one that's in beta that I assumed was at fault and then got all paranoid about it. All those complaints about the S4 are pretty much over minor annoyances, but this default stealth auto-sync makes it look like your phone is completely messed up. I have to say it's the phone's biggest hiccup. But even though it's easily fixed, it caused quite a bit of chaos and worry on my part, and I hope I didn't damage anything while trying to fix it.
I want to delete the folder but is it supposed to delete the files in your Dropbox account? I don't want to risk losing the files.

I would make a backup before deleting just to be sure
Probably a good idea

Thanks. I didn't get back to reading this forum until. I simply disconnected the dropbox account, disable sync, then reconnect my account. That had to be the dumbest default setting ever.

Yesterday I just delete this documentsync folder. DON'T DO THIS!!!! It have delete all the documents files Inside my dropbox account. Turn this option off in setting before delete anything or you will lose them.
Fortunately, the dropbox site offer a restore file option (the trash icon on top) . Whitout this, I had loose so much valuables files.
Hi guys,
my queries are similar. I really want a way to sync files from my PC with my Note 3. My required files are all documents (docx, xlsx, pdf, txt etc) I’m not looking for music video syncs. I use many important docs and excels and I want them all 100% updated on my phone all time so that I can use them anywhere.
I’m not a dropbox fan and used it very less in past but after getting note 3 I realize there have less ways to sync and store files in external memory. I wanted them all to store in external card (32gb) as many files but I doesn’t. Still internal is fine. I started use Dropbox app and tried the stock file manager dropbox option. What happened, in the initial setup it downloaded all files in internal memory DocumentSync folder but then when I started changing those files, it did not updated those over dropbox. Make sure I was editing DocumentSync folders raw files by Polaris Office, not from dropbox application or either the file manager home screen dropbox icon shortcut as both of them downloading each files before editing. As these didn’t work, like you all I remove this and disable this option.
But as I always wanted all these dropbox files locally, even when offline/no network I can update/read those files. So can anyone tell me the purpose of DocumentSync folders local files? Also any way the Samsungs optional dropbox or dropbox app can store all in external memory card? I really don’t want this to way to download each files before reading/editing (due to slower internet).
Please advice, thanks in advance!

Would this app be of use to you? You can store the files locally, then set the file to sync with your dropbox account and it be set up as a two-way sync between phone and dropbox and desktop/tablet/laptop/etc and dropbox.

I checked this apps and few similar like this before but none of them could store in external memory, so no help. But DropSync does, but problem is it stores files in external memory /Android/data/com.ttxapps.dropsync/files which is hard to navigate all time and then the free version only allows one folder to sync, no sub directories. And I’ve all documents set under separate directories. And I do not purchase apps . So didn’t found any other helpful app.
Update:
Yesterday again I linked to the My File Dropbox extinction, and play with it little bit and test few. Earlier I somehow saw it wasn’t correctly, not updating, not syncing properly etc so I removed it. But yesterday I only made Doc Sync, it downloaded all doc files and I did some test by file changes and it syncing instantly. I was changing in raw file in DocumentSync folder.
The only issue I found is if new files added and existing files deleted in dropbox its not immediately doing the same in that folder. Its taking time, and sometime long time. But if I disconnect and reconnect wifi, the changes appearing immediately, most probably this is due to as it set to sync over wifi only.
But its really great for me, as I can get all docs raw files even if no network and don’t have to download each time. But its not working very smoothly and its storing files internal memory but as my all docs are around 5mb no not a big issues. But I would love to get it in external memory. Overall this works great for me also no extra app require. But Samsung should make a way to sync all files locally.

EasyMoney app sync

Hello.. I have asked this to the developer too.. No reply yet.. So resorting for the xda users opinion.. I have easy money app installed.. I'm very happy.. It has one drawback.. I cant sync between 2 phones.. For eg me and my wife use the accounts and would like to have it synced so that both of us can monitor the spending.. Is there a particular database file which I can save to dropbox or Google drive to sync in both the phones...
I want to know
1. Which file should be synced..
2. How to save the database in dropbox or gdrive..
I did search in xda but no specific hits.. If anyone could be of help...
Thank you

The database file name changes sequentially based upon the date and time it was backed up. Below are examples of backup files.
2013-07-31 14.00.53.bak
2013-07-31 14.01.03.bak
2013-08-01 03.45.51.bak
Super.. I just was wondering if the saving of the database could be shifted to the dropbox or gdrive folder... Thanks man... Would be very thankful if u figure that out too

[Q] How to find Scrapbook folder?

Anyone know where to find the Scrapbook folder?
I can't seem to find it using Astro File Manager.
My Scrapbook app crashes from time to time and it won't reopen (T-Mobile US version). It'd be a lot easier to locate the scrapbook folder and open images manually. Thanks bros.

The Scrapbook folder assuming you are dealing with Google+ is synced to your device through your Google account. In order to manipulate this folder or delete it, follow these steps:
In order to remove or modify, follow the below simple steps.
Go to Picasa Web. You can log in to this using your Google ID.
There you can see a list of albums you have. This will contain your Google+ albums.
There you will be able to find this Scrapbook Photos album.
Click on that and go to actions -> choose your option (edit, rename, delete etc...)
No go to your phone and sync data. The mystery album won’t be there anymore.
Hope this helps!

Good question. I want to backup the scrapbook folder(s) to Dropbox because I do not trust Samsung sync, but I could not find it either. I have already saved very useful and important profesional material that I need to keep safe at any cost. I hope someone knows. Thanks in advance
Thanks for the info Cellrama. I'm still looking to find the folder to where the Scrapbook images are located. Appreciate the info though.
Anyone else have an idea?
No idea. .. you have to save them manually as pics, then they'll show up in the default pictures folder. No idea where the folder is for whatever is default.
Bump.
Anyone?

I realize this doesn't answer your question but I believe it solves your problem! This was driving me nuts but I got scrapbook working again.
I went into titanium backup and backed up then wiped data for com.sec.android.ap...martclipservice 1.0 and SmartClipProvider 1.0, then rebooted and now scrapbook works again. Note: everything that was in my scrapbook is now gone.
Hope this helps! :good:
The Answer to Your Question
The folder can be found here on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or 4 for your Scrapbook folder so you can back it up using Dropsync:
/storage/emulated/lecacy/Scrapbook
I don't think this is scrapbook data itself, but if you're like me, most of what's in scrapbook comes from stuff you've captured with the smart clip function.
You can find that at
Storage/emulated/0/android/com.Samsung.android provider.smartclip/files/ClipData
