I found yesterday on ebay a canadian seller who had an auction for a Samsung Galaxy S2 new unlocked international version.
So I did the usual send a message if he could end the auction for 280+Shipping
because that's what I have in hand.
This was the messages:
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Me: Hi I would like to buy your phone I have 280+Shipping
Seller: Hi there, yes i can do a buy it now for 280+20 shipping to Honduras. Send me your paypal email and i can send you the invoice that you can pay and i will ship out asap. thanks
Me: my paypal address is ***********@*****.net
Seller: Just sent you the invoice for 300. Please let me know when you have paid and confirm your address. thanks
Me: Hey I saw you didn't ended the auction and it got sold for 432!
Seller: No i have 2 phones that i am selling. You can still pay the invoice i sent you. I will still sell you the phone for the agreed price
So then I received a paypal invoice of 300$
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
So do you think this guy is a scammer or not? Seller has 5 feedbacks and he is canadian, should I send the money? Would I be protected by paypal?
Item is going to be shipped to Honduras.
What do you say should I go on and buy it or not.
If it's an invoice you should be good, file a dispute if you don't get it

Never ever deal with an ebay seller through email. Your purchase will NOT be protected and the guy knows this. Keep that $280 man!!

There is nothing special about buying it with ebay really, if anything ebay screws over the seller! They charge so much in seller fees (in my opinion). I would just make sure the invoice is legit as I have gotten fake invoices before.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I just sold something on eBay for 400 and the fees were over 65.00 and if you have less than 25 sales they hold the money for 21 days or 3 days after its delivered with a tracking number. eBay sucks to sell stuff now. So its not really 100 less than his last sale.

you must also check whether the device is in perfect condition !!
also the seller may bluff you by not sending the desired item or he may send anything else even a cheap clone or something !!
pls confirm via pics or video and then go for the transaction !!
you could even ask him to create another auction on ebay with a buy it now price that you agreed to and have him send you the link.

A seller did that for me for an item that he accepted my offer on. It worked very well.
280 no way! The phone is worth around $600.

I believe seller can create a private sale through ebay to buyer and ebay will give you buyer protection.

On the website under warranty, it says: "1 Year International". Does anyone know what the warranty policy is?
do they have warranty?
I'm wondering how legit this site is. My pessimism is saying it is too good to be true.

That news on androidcentral.com as well, so I believe that website is legit...Ordered one for 565$ with delivery. Probably the cheapest price on the market right now, and probably the lowest price it could be in the future for that device.

The site is legit. They take a while to ship if you read their shipping policy, and their price is low enough to make it worth the wait. I purchased from them so many times over the years and never had problem. My only problem now is that I don't have the money to buy this phone.
Hello, I made this thread because I ordered my Samsung GS3 int version on ebay (I'm from Canada) and they sent it with DHL... Now I have to pay 120$ for custom fees... Every ****ing time I used DHL for shipping I had to pay for custom fees even for something FROM Canada, maybe they are quick but having to pay 120$ + 50$ shipping + 750$ for the phone is a bit too much, for that price I could have picked the 32gb version... So yeah just try to avoid DHL, I'm not saying that if you don't take DHL you wont have to pay for custom fees, but if you choose DHL be sure you'll have to pay an extra

This is a heads up to anyone looking to get a note 2 cheap. Beware buying anything on ebay from user oalmaguer2012 he is a scammer. And ebay user and I have already been scammed $550 by him. He will claim that paypal is holding the funds until you leave him feedback, or he'll refund the money, in order to get you to leave feedback and for him to get the paypal funds in case it really is being held.
Anyway, he will give you bogus tracking information. He'll also give you is phone number, but after 2 weeks he'll vanish with your hard earned money. His phone number is 602-481-7941 and he claims he's from Arizona. His name as it appears in paypal is Oscar Almaguer with email [email protected].
As of right now I'm waiting on ebay for final resolution as I have already filed a complaint.
Again, this is a heads up to anyone trying to buy on ebay, beware of this guy.
Mods, please sticky or post in proper thread. I posted in this forum since he was selling the international Note 2.
UPDATE: I did get my refund today as ebay made the final decision in my favor. So they returned the amount I paid.
Either way, stay away from this seller, he doesn't seem to have the galaxy note 2, I was thinking he was pooling multipe orders so he could do a group buy or something, or he's just a plain old online scammer.

Yeah a similar thing happened to me when I sold my s3 on ebay. A guy bouhht it then I get a email from paypal saying he has paid but they are holding the funds until I give them the shipping number. yeah good thing I used paypal. And looking at my history I think ebay knew it was a no brainer that I got scammed.
I still haven't heard from the other person who bought the same item from him though.... hopefully he got refunded as well
Ah, that's awful. Glad you got your money back. This is why I don't buy anything worth more than 50 bucks off eBay. The scamming and the spoofing is so well done these days, it's not weird letters from "Nigerian princes" anymore like it used to be.
As long as whatever you sell is listed as "As-is" and "Non-refundable" then on the selling side, you should be safe with eBay's buyer protection.
As for buying, you need to be aware of who the seller is, the previous selling history and feedback, and the frequency of sells.

Hi, I pre ordered a note 3 from america via ebay but I changed my mind a few hours after I paid. I asked the seller for a refund and he said that there is a restocking fee of 20% so he'll only refund me $600 of $750. I found this appalling because the item has NOT been dispatched and it is a pre-order therefore it is impossible for him to charge $150 restocking fee!!!! I chatted to an ebay live agent and they agreed with me. I opened a dispute via paypal but it is saying I need to wait until 29th September to escalate to a claim. Also, it is my birthday tommorow so this has made me a bit sad
Should I just call paypal on monday and ask them to escalate it to a claim? Also, do you think I will get my money back?
Thank You.

I have purchased a few PDAs (years ago) & smartphones off of eBay, try not unless it's a good deal. Whenever buying expensive toys ANYWHERE, common sense and asking questions is a must. Do ask about refunds, shipping, condition of item, refurbished or new, warranty if any, seller's reputation...then rely on common sense...if something is real cheap-dirt cheap- shipped from another country... I have only got burned once from ebay from buying over 198 items to date...then again PayPal reimbursed my loss...every penny.
Good luck.

Just contact PayPal and contact your bank and stop all charges. Cancel your debit card and order a new one. Its really that simple, don't get played.

Well, first of all, for it to be a "re-stocking fee" there has to be an actual item to RE-STOCK! Second, ebay sellers are not allowed to charge you a restocking fee, some do it, but it easy to get it back, just threaten him with a claim. A true restocking fee is, as an example, when you bring back an item bought from, lets say, best buy. You opened the box, bestbuy cannot sell the item full price and you got your money back - restocking fee to compensate for their lost money. Third, just open a paypal claim and you'll get your money back
Thanks to everyone for the help ive opened a paypal dispute but need to wait 7 days to open claim. I will call paypal tomorrow.

you dont have to wait, just go in dispute details and hit "escalate to claim"
Nothing I hate worse then people buying on eBay and then don't want it.
Don't bid or buy it if you don't want it.
The seller then has to repost it and fight off the charges for everything. It's a huge pain.
did you use your credit card to pay via paypal? or debit/bank account? - if cc was used, just dispute it with credit card company, simple and effective.
you went about this all wrong.. Now you have to go through this whole process. For future reference, your order of action should have been:
1) Apologize profusely for screwing up the seller's day.
2) Ask very nicely for a refund
3) if he gives you some bull**** line like restocking fees on an item that he couldn't have possibly shipped or isn't even in his possession yet, then you should politely tell him why you shouldn't be charged. Mention that there is no restocking fee on ebay and the above stuff about how restocking fees work.
4) wait at least 24-48 hours for a response
5) 95% of the time they will then issue a complete refund. For the other 5% of the time, it is now time to escalate with paypal and ebay and call your bank and etc.
If you follow these steps you will get your money back MUCH faster. If you just go effing rambo on claims you'll be locked into dispute for a drawn out period of time and neither party is really happy in the end. Kinda a lose-lose scenario whereas by doing the above in the correct order will most of the time end up in win win situation.
If he refunds give him a stale review mentioning his shoddy business practice of charging restocking fees on prerelease goods. (reviews are everything on ebay)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! You grow some, you learn some. CHEERS!
Refund your money through paypal.
Newegg is selling black or white for $259 on ebay
I just got ordered one directly from newegg site the other day for $279. I never dealt with newegg before. Do you think they would adjust the price on my original order to $259?
If I return the $279 back, does newegg pick up the return shipping or do I?
Not going to lose sleep over the $20, but if pretty simple process and minimal hassle, $20 is twenty bucks

You're reading something into the ebay buyer protection program that isn't there. If the item is "not as described" or you didnt received it then it would be covered. Receiving an item with a manufacturing defect is not specified addressed in the terms of the sale and assuming you could utilize the BPP in such a manner would be foolish.
So Newegg doesn't want anything to do with a "I don't like it after all" return, but a new item is covered by manufacturer warranty anyway right?
So it would be more of a pain to deal with manufacturer instead of retailer, but either way you wouldn't be stuck with a lemon right?

Let me share a story that may ease some fears. I dropped my HTC DNA and smashed the screen. Screen repairs are expensive, so I made the mistake of going with the cheapest vendor -- Mission Repair. Not only did they do a shoddy job, gluing the speaker back askew and leaving the red stripes on the side loose, but it was returned with the wifi malfunctioning.
I paid with PayPal (owned by ebay, of course), so I followed their procedures and opened a dispute, where I told my side of the story. Mission Repair actually responded that I should return the unit to them so that they could determine whether there was anything wrong with my phone! Of course this was unacceptable to me, so I escalated the case to a claim, which would force PayPal to intervene. I summed up my story and MR was given 10 or 14 days to respond.
I guess they realized that they had no ground to stand on, because AFAIK PayPal never heard back from them. Right after MR's response period expired, PayPal refunded me the cost of the repair. Well, in the meantime, the problem with my wifi cleared up. I wasn't about to say anything, though, because I felt I deserved at least a response from MR. If the wifi had still been broken, I would have pushed for more than the repair cost.
So, the point of the story is that PayPal and ebay seem serious about resolving disputes. I don't know about ebay buyer protection, but it's easy to get PayPal to arbitrate a claim. If this doesn't put many minds at ease, just look at NewEgg's 99.5% positive rating on ebay.
