Hello, I made this thread because I ordered my Samsung GS3 int version on ebay (I'm from Canada) and they sent it with DHL... Now I have to pay 120$ for custom fees... Every ****ing time I used DHL for shipping I had to pay for custom fees even for something FROM Canada, maybe they are quick but having to pay 120$ + 50$ shipping + 750$ for the phone is a bit too much, for that price I could have picked the 32gb version... So yeah just try to avoid DHL, I'm not saying that if you don't take DHL you wont have to pay for custom fees, but if you choose DHL be sure you'll have to pay an extra

Because it was marked for fedex shipping on ebay but the seller told me it's because DHL option is not available on ebay so yeah, it was said somewhere on the item description (something like 500 - 1000 lines) but I haven't seen it.

Yeah.
Overall, it's 40 something % wage-based.
when I used to buy my watches directly from sellers from Switzerland, they always put in to description of the goods: movement $$$, case $$$, strap $$$ to avoid paying duty taxes. Anyway, even if they did that, I have sometimes received customs bill from UPS or Fedex, and the copy was sent to the IRS as well, so I always end up paying the import tax. I can only reccomend to you to pay the tax, because once I didn't, and they find me, and it took almost a full year, and I end up paying interest on the charge as well. No fun messing with government. ( I live in US)
I got the same form from fedex, I didn't have to pay anything.
There is no import tax on cell phones and smartphones in the US.

---------- Post added at 10:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:31 AM ----------
i just looked up the government website...customs marks it wrong when they charge people, there are no customs charges on imported cell phones from the UK. I had fedex credit me the amount. They "said" it was a one time customer appreciation thing
I've had mine for 3 weeks now with no import duty (coming from Handcent in the UK to the US.) I did have the issue with them claiming insufficient paperwork, so I filled out the form, clearly showing it's a cell phone, and sent it in.

Have you received yours from Simply Electronics? I ordered mine a week ago, the money was only taken on Monday but no email confirming dispatch ... cheap but terrible service in my opinion. I have phoned them twice and they have always had stock so simply no excuse for the delay in my mind. Also no option of express delivery annoyed me so I can't really recommend Simply Electronics - wish I'd bought from Amazon.De instead

We ordered on the 2nd, no not yet but apparently it is coming on friday, they seem to be extremely slow, but they are no doubt legit, i have seen alot of people complaining about slow delivery, but they seem to get the products... also if there ebay feedback is anything to go by they seem to be good, so we'll see what happens on friday. its stpidly frustrating though!!!
I can almost forgive Simply Electronics as I think delivery was attempted of my GN this morning... I'll find out tomorrow when I can try and get it back from the Royal Mail sorting office! (not that Simply Electronics told me it was on its way or gave me the tracking numbers... and assuming that's what the missed delivery was...)
If you can stand to wait for delivery of 10-14 days they're probably ok as the price was by far the best I've seen PLUS I found an £8 voucher online which made the price even better

apparently you can get it on contract with low minutes on O2 via third party seller and if you got to thrid party seller via cashback websites like quidco or topcashback then you get about 100£ for contract phones with some providers. Plus if you drop the data plan on the O2 contract then you get the phone for about £440 with free flip cover.
Plus bonus you get Uk charger unlike amazon.de and also you get free 18-24m payments without interest charge if you treat it like buying a sim free phone. mentioned on hotukdeals threads about samsung galaxy note. search for those threads if interested.
Just Google these guys... joke. Simply electronics took 2 weeks, 4 emails and 4 phone calls and a brief communication from Google check out to get me my refund. Keeping in mind I requested the refund 2 hours after payment!

There seem to be about as many positive as negative reviews online! and the ebay rating is pretty high (98.9%), esp considering the number of transactions (15443)...
I did get an email from them today apologising for the delay (but not quite managing to actually let me know when it would be dispatched!)
So I live in hope.
I also ordered one to the states on Jan. 9 and I'm still waiting to be dispatched. I don't know if it will ever come but like you said, the reviews for them are lopsided. Either extremely good or extremely bad.... Has anyone here order from them and gotten one? Was it new and comes with everything including product being sealed?
I have seen a couple of other people in this forum say they have recieved theirs from there...
for the american above me.... you could be waiting a while, im in the uk and i ordered on the 2nd... they said it would be here today, but alas, nothing,im really hoping tomorow! if it gets to monday that would be the start of the third week of waiting!
Wow...stay away from this company as far as possible. Trying to deal with them has been harder than performing brain surgery in the dark with one hand tied behind my back.
Ordered a white Note on January 25th. They needed extra identity verification (aka the documents they need to defraud me a month from now). I order from B&H all the time with orders exceeding $2,000 without having to verify my identity.
Fine, I played their game, January 28th rolls around and it can't ship till next week because they are backed up. I tell them forget it, to cancel it, and I will get it from someone else who can do business professionally.
Between January 28-30. I have FOUR comfirmation email cancelling my order from TWO diff reps and from the [email protected] email. Now today, February 3, I receive an email that my order has shipped and here is your tracking number...
Scammers folks. Terrible customer service. Been sitting on the phone for ONE HOUR trying to talk to someone live....no one will pick up. No one is returning my emails. I just filed for fraud on my credit card, I will refuse the package when it arrives, telling you guys here, and also prepping my attorney for anything.
SimplyElectronics.net is not professional, not prompt, sketchy, involved in fraud throughout Europe, and by far the worst company I've ever dealt with.
Wow - sounds absolutely awful...
Sorry to hear about your miserable experience, but thanks for the heads up.
Almost ordered a Galaxy Tab from there at Christmas, but found out about Note and bought it from Finland. After hearing this i am glad i didn't choose to buy the Tab there.
why do you people send your money to shady non trustworthy companies. Just to save a couple dollars.

They are based in Hong Kong, look at their address on the terms and conditions tab on their website.
I made the mistake of ordering from them before and looked into the company. They were taking ages to dispatch so I asked for a cancellation. They agreed to the cancellation but after about two weeks of not receiving my money back on to my card, I sent a chaser email which they responded to and I managed to obtain my refund after another few days.
Their website is very deceptive because when you go to it, everything is in UK currency, and even their phone number is a UK one.
Any warranty claims seem to go to a UK mail forwarding address who then probably ship it back to Hong Kong.
Definitely stay away from this company.

I'll pay another $20 to $30 extra for a little peace of mind, but $100 is kinda steep (IMHO).
--For the record, I bought my Note from a Top-Rated seller on eBay for $629. Transaction was excellent, and so is the phone.
I ordered from simply electronics and had no issues, and that was in the run up to christmas, took exactly a week to arrive. I think there were excellent, always replied to my emails and was miles cheaper than anywhere else. I think you just need patience when ordering from a company based in Hong Kong. I'm used to it get a lot of stuff off ebay from Hong Kong, and a lot of it takes about a month to arrive. Which I'm told is because they have very strict outgoing customs over there.

I did pay extra for what I thought was peace of mind. Use google shopping. SimplyElectronics is one of the highest rated sellers according to my search result. I posted twice to warn my fellow XDA'ers. I have credit card protection and an attorney I'm afraid of. I'm not worried about it per se. I run a small business and I just get really irked by the way some companies treat their customers.

They definitely do NOT have to honor it. This happens all the time on Red Flag Deals. Someone posts a price error or system glitch, a hundred people jump on it and place orders, a hundred people get cancellation emails a day later.

I just order one myself and it says phone on 1 line with 309$ as the price and there was no amount beside the bonus line where you would usually have 500$ rebate applied against the 650$ if you took a 3 year agreement.
Moreover, I never had to fill a complete subscription form. So it's a pay and go price. Now I will only need to unlock this phone to sell it!
