So i bought isncr to sync my music & playlists from itunes. It works fine apart from the playlist tracks being inverted i.e. 1st track is now the last track & vice versa. Very odd as when i look at the m3u files they are listed correctly ...
I'm running 3.1 at the mo....
Does anyone know why this happens?

It's because iTunes is a horrible behemoth of garbage piled on garbage. I'm serious.
But the m3u files created by isyncr are correct so nothing to do with itunes... it must be how the samsung music app reads and displays m3u playlists.....?
Does this happen in other music players? My guess is not.
If I recall, this happens with the default player on the Samsung Fascinate, so I'm not surprised that it is happening in another Samsung music player.

I only have the Samsung player installed as it is rather nice. I just wanted to confirm that it was a player issue which it sounds like....Hopefully a future update will fix it....
Anyone know how to overcome this? I have lots of deep playlists which are now in the wrong order :-(
Is there a setting for the Samsung player?

Something that really irritates me is that I have my music on iTunes organized but when I transfer with DoubleTwist and play the music on Meridan Music player, it gets disorganized.
Is there any player that retains the organization from iTunes?
bTunes shamelessly mocks the appearance of the player on the iPhone /iPod Touch. It also handles the library in a similar way (unlike many other players for android, it does NOT slaughter compilations by creating an album entry for each artist)
This app is well in beta stage and is a bit rough around the edges. For me, it FCs on phone boot, but nothing seems to stop working. I cant find a homepage for the app, just search for btunes in the market.

One thing I noticed is that Android doesn't have a very good Music management system. It will organize based on what your properties of each song is. It sucks because I had a terrible accident with some garbage media player once and it messed up all of my music's properties. [around 1500 songs]. I took about 2 hours fixing them all because I got tired of not having my Music organized. That's one of my biggest pet peeves.

Thanks! bTunes (beta) is great. Works good enough for me on the Nexus Won.

This issue has been resolved in the latest round of updates. The dev seems to update this app quite often.
I'm looking for bTunes in a few minutes. I was actually thinking of trading my N1 for an unlocked 3GS just because it really irritates me. So will my iTunes library transfer as it is on my Mac?
Anyone able to sort their music on the N1, through any music player, BY DATE ADDED or MODIFIED??
I want to listen to the music I added to the music folder most recently.
I have a big library, and i want to listen to the new stuff first....
I copied my music collection on to my phone (4,700 .m4a files which are eaac+ at 48kbits/s), which is about 350 albums with 1000+ artists. The stock music player plays them all fine and all the embedded album art and other metadata is all there. The only problem I get is when I select the 'artists' tab. I get a brief insufficient memory message, then the player closes itself.
Has anyone else seen this? Surely 1000+ artists shouldn't be a problem for a cutting edge superphone.
I'm thinking probably a bug that they've missed? Or it might just be to do with your firmware, what version are you using?

Thanks for your reply. It's I9000ADJF1 that came with the phone.
I took my PAYG Samsung Galaxy S II back to O2 (UK) for a refund today, after 2 days of use. Love the speed, thinness, screen quality and size. TouchWiz is dire - but can be replaced with Launcher Pro. I could not live with the fact that most of my music files came up with <unknown artist> and no cover art. I use DoubleTwist to synchronise (after a fashion!) iTunes playlists to my Android devices. The same music files that appear correctly on the Nexus S and the Xoom would not show the artist/cover art information on the SGS2. So I know the files are tagged correctly. I also tried a direct copy of music files from my iMac to the SGS2, but same issue. Tried the stock music app as well as DoubleTwist and the Samsung Music hub - the media details were missing whatever the player.
I have spent many hours getting my media files correctly tagged and cannot live with a device that ignores all my hard work. May seem a small point and I can't understand how this could happen.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem and is there a cure?
Did you try PowerAmp? That works perfectly fine...that scans all the tags and brings up the details. I never use the stock music player cos it's not that good imo.
Everything else sucks compared to PowerAmp.
I think Doubletwist was your problem, I've seen another user at Androidforums who had the same thing, his files were fine when he just sideloaded them.

I agree DoubleTwist is far from ideal, but it has worked OK to move music to the Nexus S and the Xoom - with all information complete. I also tried side-loading an album that showed with no artist information or cover art after the DoubleTwist sync and it made no difference. PowerAmp may be a good player on the device, but does it handle music transfer (from a Mac), as I need to move music in an iTunes playlist to my phones - too cumbersome to move files individually.
im using FLAC files with winamp and had no real issues, tho i did notice this morning that some tracks arent in the correct order but id have to check my tagging before i make assumtions
other than that not had one problem with them, you sure you didnt really want to take your phone back anyway seems a small matter to return such a nice phone for when it can probably be fixed
I'm not an iTunes user, so I don't know what the other softwares are, but I am aware there are several other options you could try to sync across from iTunes. Maybe give some others a try?
Found the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062137&highlight=media
Seems that the SGS2 does not recognise artists (and presumably cover art) tags if the file is in M4a format. That would explain why some of my files were OK and others not. Most of my iTunes library is in M4a format, purchased from iTunes. Way too much work to convert everything to MP3 and no reason why this popular format is not supported, as it is supported on every other Android phone (including my Samsung Nexus S).
It was me that started that thread and I still have not found a solution, which is annoying, hopefully someone smarter than me will find an answer!
Just seams an odd thing as no other phone I've ever had has had this problem! And I'm not going to convert all my music either! Maybe someone will get the stock music app working?
It is really strange as I tried the Samsung Music Hub, the stock music player and DoubleTwist and they all could not read the tags. So it must be something that Samsung has done to the file format on this particular phone. I doubt it is an application fault, so it is up to Samsung to acknowledge and fix this oddity. I returned mine and will now wait for the HTC Sensation.
Just got my SGS2. Fired up iSyncr and iTunes and synced about 1600 songs to my new phone.
Media Scan then completed
I fired up powerAMP and PlayerPro and stock music player.
ALL of them showed 408 songs as unknown artist.
Yet on my Motorola Defy and in iTunes all the artists are perfect. I have formatted the sd card and resynced the music still no good.
Anyone else experienced this problem?
Yes, though I used TuneSync to move them over. I just removed album art from one album and had iTunes reload it automatically. Then I sync'ed again, now the music shows up. All of it, even the stuff that I didn't touch. Weird. (XWKE7, rooted)
How do you sync iTunes with this phone?
I haven't got the phone yet but it would be good to know
programs on the phone called isyncr or tune sync will do it.
though any m4a/acc music wont show artist names correctly.
Does it come pre installed?
no, they can be purchased from the market.
I'd suggest giving iTunes away, only gives you headaches if you aren't an iOS user. Better to have a properly curated tag collection...

itunes isnt a problem for me. in fact i love it. isyncr has always been brilliant at keeping my android and itunes libraries in sync. Its just this sgs bug that is causing trouble. Hope samsung fixes it soon.
Same here, NickChaplin. TuneSync worked flawlessly on Cyanogenmod.
The same here, all the songs i bought from iTunes my SGSII won't recognize the artist name.... On my Desire it works perfect.

nope, poweramp, player pro, winamp, double twist AND stock media player ALL have the same problem.
Thats because its a problem with the way the media scanner reads the ID3 tag of the m4a file and then adds it to the android music library that ALL the above media players read from.
What? I had the same issue with my vibrant. Poweramp automatically fetches album covers. Even random mixtape songs.
I agree it should work by default. But its hit or miss with devices. Poweramp solves this problem by fetching the album covers.

sorry, all my music already has album art.
Try MediaFix from the Market.
Try MIUI Music APK. That always popped out artist info, lyrics, CD art, and everything else automatically for me. Well, 90% of the time at least.
There is a bug in Android's media indexing & storage service. Sometimes it doesn't get the artist. Some apps like Mediafix or TuneSync index the music themselves and put the correct artist in the service's database. Until the bug is fixed, the only way to solve the problem is to either use players that don't rely on the service or to fix database yourself with the appropriate applications. MIUI's player will only work better if it doesn't rely on Android's internal indexing. I'm pretty sure it does rely on it.
So ever since i got the tab I have been having trouble with putting music on it. Everytime i save songs on the tab from my computer, the songs appear in other albums, the artists names appear for other songs, I get force closes...
Does anyone know what this could be happening?
Also, would a different music player app help solve this problem or organization?
Thanks for the help!
I use mediamonkey to properly name, tag, and include album art. Afterwords, I easily sync the music to my tablet (or drag and drop, depending on the mood).
This method works really well for having organized music on your tablet that's static, the way you set it up to sync in mediamonkey. Hope this helps.
Hey, thanks for the response. You kind of lost me there though... You said you use Mediamonkey to organize it then you pass it onto your tab. Does that mean Mediamonkey is a program on your computer or did i just understand it wrong and it's an app on the tab?
Thanks again! I'm hating the music situation at the moment...
I hate the stock music player and even the Google Music app because...tada..they all FC all the time. Can't even play more than one song.
I use PowerAmp, its the only music app that has ever worked for me on Android, ever !
As for tagging songs, MediaMonkey is good, but i just use iTunes.

Weird thing I was browsing the other date and I found out that there was an update for the music app but the tab never noticed me about it.
Btw it works fine for me

How are you transferring your music to your tab? I use mediamonkey on my PC to manage my music... and then from within mediamonkey I tell it to sync whatever songs or albums I want directly to the tab. I am betting your mp3 tags are getting messed up in the transfer.
Mike
Am really appeciating the help everyone, thanks!
So far still not having much luck...
I am currently trying to use MediaMonley as previously suggested. I am getting tags from the web and that works in general, but sometimes does not work. When doing this, does it alter the orig file? The process i have been using to transfer music is open up "My Music" on my PC where I thought I had things well organized by artist. Then i copy them over to the tab. Should I try syncing through MediaMonkey? How would I do this? Sorry if my questions and understanding are noob like.
Another issue I am having is in my gallery on the tab. Every track has the picture of the Album or whatever which is taking up insane amounts of storage as well just seems dumb...
Will also look into another music player as suggested.
Feel free to comment on any of this. I'm still trying to figure it out and am struggling. Makes me feel like deleting all my music to start over!!!!
Have you tried PlayerPro??
You can pick songs/albums from folders so much easier to organise.
