hi there, i am running wp7 on my hd2 with a 2gb micro sd.its now full and promts me with warnings of my memory being full. please can anybody help me on how to change the memory card with my new one. Do i need to re-flash again?? thank you.
you can change without flashing but you lose apps and data (you can save some data with sync with Zune and Skydrive).... when you insert new card you must do Hard reset... (Volume up and down together and push and hold power under white screen for hard reset shown... follow instructions)
also if you have Pdaimatejam Rom and WPDM v1.7 (1.8 not work) you can make backups for apps settings and restore it after you install fresh apps again

I've already CID-unlocked, SIM-unlocked my T-mobile MDA last month. I've flashed my ROM with the xelencin ROM that I found in the forums, as I thought it had most of the initial tweaks that I was looking at. Since then, I've installed a whole bunch of new programs to test out, but now it feels like my phone is bogged down.
I'd like to clean my phone of all its memory and go back to the state when I just flashed my rom with xelencin. Do I have to go and use the RUU again or can I just go to my settings -> clear storage -> 1234 and reset? Will this delete all the programs that I had installed on my storage card as well or will the files stay there?
Hard reset
Yes, a hard reset will clear everything. You do NOT need to reflash the ROM.
thanks
thanks for the heads up. i'm assuming the memory card can stay in without any problems...otherwise i can just take it out until it restarts.
i've flashed the radio rom to 2.47.11 since the ROM was made (started with 2.25.11). Is it safe to assume it'll stay with the 2.47.11 after a hard reset?
memory
I never bother taking the memory card out but then I back it up to my PC occasionally. There are certainly reports of memory card problems.
The radio rom will persist through a hard reset.
If you have created short cuts, it is a good idea to copy them to the SD card for easy reinstallation.
storage card not effected
ok, just an fyi, I did the clear reset with 1234, ok. storage card isn't effected by it...only the regular phone memory is wiped...it seems everything, including the files that I had changed in the \windows director for foreign language (asukal's wince.nls) files...

I installed it on a clean 8 Gb SD card and ran harriet once. After att bootup sequence the phone went black so i did a soft reset and pulled the SD card.
Since then whenever i am in normal Windows Mobile i can't run most of my installed programs.
And i cannot uninstall or reinstall new or old programs. When i try to install a program it goes so far as to accept the certificate for the program but stopps directly after that with an error message that says the program did not install.
Any ideas on what the problem is. I would like to avoid a hard reset. I did a backup of most of the stuff on the phones internal memory but not all of it.
Thanks Imposter.

make sure you backed up you files, contacts, mag etc
hard reset..
format sd.. (fat32)
put only android on sd (not in a folder)
complete startup settings (wm)
run android
select blackstone
install to sd
wait for android to boot
it takes about 15-20mins (blackstone)
then screen goes black
wait for a vibration
it will boot android to a lock screen
wait for everything to boot up.. (operator etc)
unlock..
Well that's just the problem i cannot backup my files because i cannot install any programs like SPB Backup to do a backup. I can manually via ActiveSync copy files but then i won't get everything like i would with a backup program.

i managed to get win7 running & followed all the steps to activate live except for calling microsoft which i plan to do in the morning but i have realized when installing win 7 it didnt integrate my sd card, so i now have hardly any space left...is there anything i can do to fix this? will i need to uninstall win 7 , reinstall 6.5 then reinstall win 7? there has got to be an easier way right? any way to get a new sd card? i am new to this ..any help would be greatly appreciated
When botting WP7 hold vol up and down then vol down do a hard reset with the memory in it you gonna have to do eveything again but you wont have to istallled it
so if i do that reset will i be back to a win6.5 phone or will it have saved the win7 os & hspl files etc.

You are effectively doing a factory reset of WP7 so it will boot to a virgin copy of WP7.
As to whether you could replace the SD card and have it work properly from a hard reset, not sure. I know WP7 seems to use the card as an extension to the file system but I'd have thought that it did this as part of the install process so if you find a card that plays nicely with WP7 you'd still need to reinstall. Not certain though.
Hi,
is there a way to flash WP7 to my HD2 without VolUp key? (broken after display replacement)
VolUp key is needed when WP7 is booting to hardreset, without that I always get message with some SD card problem).
Thanks.

you can also use settings/about/reset your phone, from within WP7 to hard reset your phone.
But I see your point, if you are having trouble with the sd card, try installing XBmod/Yuki ROM and updating to 7403 without SD, skip through the setup and then use the above. Your card should then be captured by WP7
If using a ROM which doesn't fully encrypt then try sdformatter to resize and format your sd before trying again.
I had setup wp7 to work with the sd-card, partitioned it for dual-boot with android.
Android was booting from the card, but it couldn't mount it so I (stupidly) used the sd-formatter.
It deleted all the partitions.
Well I booted wp7 to start setting up the card again, but wp7 just tells me to get lost as the card is now non-compliant.
Great!
Formatted the card with windows, still non-compliant.
Any ideas?
you must do hard reset or flash WP7 again....
simply, you deleted WP7 memory and WP7 cant boot without.... with hard reset or new setup after flashing, he create partition and memory again....

Yeah, did it all over again, working now. Dual booting is fine now.
I had no idea that wp7 is so *****y about sd-cards :|
Hate to ask but could you elaborate on the steps you went through to flash wp7 and get the sd card to work?
If I remove my SD card or replace it with an identical card that is formated, it prevents my phone from booting up. I get the same message.
I've read the forums and they talk about task29, flash with 6.5, etc. Just trying to find a concise simplified method that won't leave me without a phone.
Thanks
only hard reset is needed when replace SDcard... flashing new ROM is only if you want upgrade with newer version...
**sigh**
this happened to me a few times already already & had to install WP7 all over again. BUT now I have another 16gb card & make an image file just in case
BTW how is the Hard reset done, in magLDR?
@vgsandman
this is what I did again, last night.
- Task 29
- Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14
- Magldr
- Service
- Clear SD MBR
- uselast24NAND
- USB Flaser
- Flash WP (some ROM will install in this method w/o Wmo)
....... Part error.......
.........error...........
Pdaimatejam rom gave this error, i guess it needed Wmo???
REDO again!
- Task 29
- Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14
- MagLDR
- MagLDR Repartition 300/ 45
- Magldr
- Service
- Clear SD MBR
- uselast24NAND
- USB Flaser
- Flash WP
- Done!
I also dual boot & i sometimes make a booboo when adjusting the partition so now the card wont work & do things all over again.
hth
That's why I don't use dual system. It's hard and troublesome when you upgrade.

Now that I know the basics, it's not a problem. SD android is super easy to handle, wp7, well, I'll see.
Well it is not that hard.
Windows Phone 7 is using the SD as his Internal Memory.
If you check your settings and you do not change anything with the partitions.
You see that the Internal Memory is the exact amount of space of your SD Card.
So it is very logical that, when you format your SD card, you will loose your partition and WP7.
Also what I don't understand is.
When your phone is already that far with MAGLDR and Radio. (cause you did it once already) Why should you start over again?
It is very simple, just do the following:
When phone boot in MAGLDR use:
* 10. Services, 4. UseLast24NAND
* 10. Services, 5. ClearSD MDR
After that:
when HSPL and/or MAGLDR already installed.
Also if Pdaimatejam or CTRLPDA or HD2O ROM already installed,
you can skip all steps before step 2.
- when you turn on phone press and hold power button to boot direct to MAGLDR:
* go to 5. USB Flasher and run ENG_DWI.exe to flash ROM
(or EN_DWI.exe or TR_DWI.exe. ENG is installer in English, TR is Turkish)
- after flashing process done, and when show Main screen with Tiles,
do hard reset (Settings - About - reset my phone)
- run Connection Setup, with OK complete configuration and soft reset (restart) phone
- you are done... ignore next steps
Thats it!
OK so if the splash screen from WP7 shows the SD card error we can just go directly to
magldr
* 10. Services, 4. UseLast24NAND
* 10. Services, 5. ClearSD MDR
flash WP7 again? I thought we needed to clear the Nand again to be able to install the ROM again.
Well I never did that, and i can't remember that I cleared NAND from Android.
Cause I came from Android.
Also when I was upgrading my rom from PDA.... 7.5 to 7.7 I did not cleared anything with the cache or NAND.
They did not notified me that I needed to do this, not even in my instruction manuall.
If you want to, I can share you the link?
Please do so Mr-Dutch
thanks
