i managed to get win7 running & followed all the steps to activate live except for calling microsoft which i plan to do in the morning but i have realized when installing win 7 it didnt integrate my sd card, so i now have hardly any space left...is there anything i can do to fix this? will i need to uninstall win 7 , reinstall 6.5 then reinstall win 7? there has got to be an easier way right? any way to get a new sd card? i am new to this ..any help would be greatly appreciated
When botting WP7 hold vol up and down then vol down do a hard reset with the memory in it you gonna have to do eveything again but you wont have to istallled it
so if i do that reset will i be back to a win6.5 phone or will it have saved the win7 os & hspl files etc.

You are effectively doing a factory reset of WP7 so it will boot to a virgin copy of WP7.
As to whether you could replace the SD card and have it work properly from a hard reset, not sure. I know WP7 seems to use the card as an extension to the file system but I'd have thought that it did this as part of the install process so if you find a card that plays nicely with WP7 you'd still need to reinstall. Not certain though.

Am I right in assuming that if I go back to 6.5, all I need to do to go back to windows phone 7 is re install without the sd card inserted then pop the card in and all my live services will be back as before and saved data.
Sound about right to me
Obviously you would have to change the device name back to HD7 but thats it right???
Anyone can confirm this?

Nope. I believe installing windows phone 7 formats the sd card on the first boot. So everything will be erased.
yea but if you run the first boot without the sd card in, do the registry tweak and then insert your memory card with the windows 7 partition already on then that should work right???
For example - If i remove my SD card then boot into windows 7, i get a vanilla setup with no settings - no apps nothing installed.
If i then restart and put my sd card back in all my settings are back including activation code i can log back into market the lot.
Whats stoping me going back to 6.5 for a bit then flashing the vanilla winmo7 rom when i want to use it??

If your sd card is not seen buy magldr ir wp7 then I suggest you try and get hold of a cheap SanDisk class 2 card I'm using a 2gb card at the mo and they cost buttons the steps you have described are correct
So, here's the deal.
In all my excitement about installing WP7 on my HD2, I completely forgot about a fact that I have only 2 Gb card in my phone!
So, now I want to get 8 Gb card, BUT.
My phone is all set up and tweaked.
So what will happen if I put new card and do reset?
Will I be able to get my settings back? What about contacts and accounts?
What about activation... stupid as I am, I didn't write down activation key from Microsoft!
Any chance to get same activation key from phone or maybe from Zune / Windows?
So any idea how to upgrade in painless way??
Thanks!

This is going to be very difficult as while flashing windows partitions your sdcard. So I highly doubt if you could do the same on your 8gb card other than reflashing everything back to scratch. Should you decide to reflash from scratch I suggest you use the custom DFT ROM. Its hassle free, the built in tweaked Chevron and modified registry makes flashing, installing and setting it painfree.
I suggest you do the following steps,
Task 29 with Radio 2.15
MAGLDR 1.13
Uninstall Zune before you connect the device to pc
Flash DFT custom ROM
Reinstall Zune after you've set the device up and when it prompts you

Both Easeus Partition and MiniTool Partition Wizard can copy partitions, so i would suggest you simply copy the 2GB SD partitions across to the new 8GB.
(no i haven't tried myself sorry)

curious to know why un-installing Zune? - i-ve re-flashed wp7 several times and zune's never had an issue syncing with them...

So, Easeus Partition and MiniTool Partition CAN see SD card with WP7 "file system"?
I ask, bacuse, when I put SD card from phone to computer it is unreadable.
If those programs can see files, then I'm saved.

Need some help. I've upgraded from 6.5 to 7 on my HD2. Works fine except that it cant see my SD card. I have 2 of them but none works. I've try them on other devices and it works so its not a memory card problem.
I tried to connect to HD2 via Windows Mobile Device Center but it wont recognize the device. What am I missing? Please help

Ok, firstly you'll need to browse thru the FAQ.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=923997
WP7 is a new OS, COMPLETELY unrelated to WinMo6.x
Keep in mind WP7 is not an "upgrade" from winmo6.5...
No winmo6.5 apps/games work with WP7
The SD wont be seen by your PC (feature of WP7)
WP7 may not even recognise your sd card.
to check on WP7 goto:
Settings/About
Total Storage should be approx < xxGB (your SD card size...)
You need Zune installed instead of Windows Mobile Device Centre to sync stuff.
Thanks for your reply. What I meant to say is that 6.5 is history and I managed to install Win7. In checking Settings/About it only shows 15.73 MB of space. If thats the case then the 16GB os memory card that came with the phone its...useless? Or do I need a diff SD?

Try a hardreset, Hold Vol Up&Down when you see the 1,2,3,4 on MAGLDR.
This happens sometimes where windows doesnt correctly format/see your card. It could also be that your card isnt compatible.
I'll be damned. Doing a hard reset and holding Volume Up at 1234 on MAGLDR......gave me back my SD card. Sweet. You are the man. Thanks for all your help.
So I have a new SD card im going to put in my phone today. I guess i need to reinstall WP7

see post #5, give it a try and then report back? I would like to know how that works.
This wont work for me. When I orginally installed WP7 my Scandisk microSD card did not format, so I have no memory left on my phone. Its running the software with SD card right now. So I need to reinstall it, and I just want to see if all i need to do is put it in USB flasher and reinstall, or do i need to back all the way to the orginal rom and start from the begining
No you shouldn't have to start all the way over. Just take batt out and back in and turn on then hold end key (red) untill the magldr menu shows up then select option 5 I think it is. Then connect phone to computer and click on the DAF file from your ROM file.
make sure your SD Card is in before doing this. WP7 formats it automatically.
Does this help?
quick change
Have you tried the simple method...
go to settings > about
click [reset your phone]
when the phone powers off, swap the SD cards
the phone will reboot and format the new card.
your OS is on NAND, but is using the card as part of the opperatign space.
Good luck.
Hi,
After a long history with successful 6.5 updates I thought I'd try WM 7!
I've read the storage card posts and tried a hard reset both with my card and without but always get to the same Storage Card not working error.
I don't have a Nokia to reformat my card but have tried reformatting on the PC.
There is a bit I haven't been able to follow using magdlr 'services' option - how do i stop WM7 from booting and get back to the magdlr menus?
Some advice for a noobie please - don't want to brick my phone but not that fond of the Storage Card Not Working screen either!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues. The micro SD card you've fit in your phone is too slow to cope with the constant read/write imposed by the OS.
The card you've used is unusable unless you unlock it by sending the unlocker cab to your device, unlock it, then format it on your computer. You could also format it on a symbian, nokia device.
Unless you mention the specific part number of your micro DS and brand, I can't help you further, with regards to compatibility, however, some models are proven to work flawlessly on WP7 powered HD2. ( such as sandisk 32 GB)
Make sure to further research, and hopefully you get this sorted out
only old Yuki (Back to the future) ROM lock cards...
all new ROM's not lock cards and unlocking or formatting with nokia device not necessary
if card not working: simple, not supported.. you must buy new card...
you cant brick phone... just read my install tutorial from signature if you something dont know...
Thanks for advice.
For benefit of others the symptoms I had were down to initial install. I needed to use Magldr to free up last 24 of nand memory and then reflash. Now all working.
As ever none of the stickies quite cover everything, but your help and another google session saved the day.
Thanks to the developers! WP7 giving my phone an all new feel.
