Rooting SHW-M180S 2.2

I live in South Korea and had my Tab rooted with the Z4 root app, but after the December update a couple weeks ago, I lost root. I tried the Z4 app again, and it gets to aquiring root shell, then closes. I also tried the other app mentioned somewhere called super easy one click, or something like that. It also didn't work.
Do I just have to wait for a new root update to come out? I am a noob and don'teven know about JMB or JMU and all that. I am just looking for an easy way to root.
Model number
SHW-M180S
Firmware Version
2.2
Baseband version
M180S DL07 0151 ST
Kernel version

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
Hi, you can use SuperOneClick v1.5.5 to root your device
by the way , Do you have the original ROM for SHW-M180S ?
Hello. Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, I don't have the original Rom. I am not even 100% sure what that means. Is that the stock software and firmware that came with my tab when I first turned it on?
I have been trying to find the original rom for days, but can't seem to find it anywhere. Do you have a link for it? If I install it, will that bring me back to 2.2? I am ready to give up 2.2.1 just so I can get my root back.
Thanks again for helping a noob!!

Hi to all,
I am also living in South Korea in Jinju. I have just bought my galaxy tab last week. I have downloaded some games but I could not make them full screen than I found that by using spare parts, it is possible to make the applications and games full screen. However, spare parts app which I downloaded from market did not work properly in my tab.
My first question, why spare parts do not work in my tab???
Secondly, I had the same error while rooting with z4root. Could you please give more detailed information how did you succeed to root your device?
Regards,
Cagri

Dear U.cagri dogan,
Eventhough spareparts makes some applications or games scale to full screen, most of these scaled games have compatibility issues with touch controls. According to me, spare parts is mostly useless for the games but maybe a few games are compatible like PSX4DROID.
For native full screen games list for TAB, please refer to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897901
I use SuperOneClickV55 to ROOT my TAB. Follow the instructions below to root with SuperOneClick.
1- Go to Phone Settings-Applications-Development and CHECK " USB Debugging "
2- Connect USB cable both Phone and PC and wait till PC installs some drives.
3- Run SuperOneClick
4- Click to Root Button and done after a few automatic process.
5- Unplug USB Cable and reboot device. ( optional )
6- Go to Phone Settings-Applications-Development and UNCHECK " USB Debugging "
7- Download BusyBox from market
8- Run busybox and give permission when SuperUser asks for it.
9- In Busy Box, Choose version 1.7.0.1 and install.
10- Your device is full rooted now.
Hope this helps...
Kind Regards,

From beta to full Froyo?

Is there a safe way to go from Froyo beta version to Froyo full version?
If you try to use the official update tools it shows no update available and I bricked another phone by trying to downgrade to 2.1 so I'm scared to try again.
Anybody had any luck with this or know anything about it?
Maybe try the sd card way? If thats how you did it, what about the motorola program way?

if you running 2.2beta then the motorola program shows no update available.
How would you go about doing it the sd card way? I havn't seen an update.zip released.

This is the link to download the file to your computer then load onto sd card. Hopefully that will work for you. If not, I think you might have to contact motorola.

Hello!
I would like to ask if may be possible that somebody knows or have the instructions that may possible Moto give to the official Beta Testers in order to restore their phones, and about how to make them fully 2.2 official updates. I wonder about because if the beta process involve the file with risk of bricking I suppose that after finish the beta testing process Moto give proper instructions to the beta testers.
Also, wonder if some of the succesfull updaters made it by falshing the official 2.2 DIRECTLY over the bet 2.2 installed flipside.
Thanks for help and bets regards to all.
Hello!
Only for the record of this post.
I was able to upgrade my FlipSide from 2.2 BETA to 2.2 OFFICIAL with the SBF file of the post already available, so is possible to direct upgrade WITHOUT return to 2.1 eclair if You have Your phone oin BETA 2.2 firmware installed.
I post this only for help and clrify in case that some other may check and could find this info.
Thanks to all good people around here that help to make the FlipSide a very much better and nice Keyboard Android Slider.

u8800 official rom installed to u8800pro

my friend has a u8800 pro phone. when i saw the phone, i guessed that it was a regular u8800. because in Turkey there is not any u8800pro available yet. one of chineese friend of my friend gave him a u8800pro as gift. it was 2.2 froyo and i tried to install offiicial b526 regular u8800 rom. it was successfully installed but wifi and bluetooth are not working because of the missing drivers. he tried to install official ics rom for pro version but he couldnt passed the step two. and also he tried to install official 2.3.5 and the same condition occured again. now the phone is running with u8800 b526 rom.
does anybody has advice for install official roms to u8800pro?
Install Official GB For U8800Pro Then Install ICS.
if you missing wifi ant BT, then you flashed wrong version (non pro), or your phone is non pro, and you flashed pro firmware
as i said before, also he tried to install official gb but he has not succeed. he didnt passed the step two installation
U Said He Tried To Install ICS Not GB. Install Official GB Then Install ICS.
please read carefully, "he tried to install official ics rom for pro version but he couldnt passed the step two. and also he tried to install official 2.3.5 and the same condition occured again"
it means, yes he tried to install offcial gb. but not succeed with the normal installation method
He shall try to install official GB with USB charger pluged in without battery.
I'm curious: what difference does this make?

I would really like to use a custom rom but im a bit scared that i would break my phone.. Is it hard to install the Aurora ICS? Is it ok for daily use? Also i dont know if im the only one but when i try to install almost any app from play store i get a" couldent install app on USB memory or SD card" error. Phone is unrooted.

just follow the guides and you will be fine..
some apps need rooted phones to work properly so you need at least to root your phone then you are fine...

Downgrade from 2.3.5 back to 2.2.2
1) Download U8800 V100R001C00B138SP04 (Overseas General) Android 2.2.2 from HERE.
2) Extract the "dload" folder and copy it (along with its contents) to the ROOT of the SD Card.
3) Turn on your U8800 while holding [VOL-] and [VOL+] and the Android 2.2.2 install should start.
4) Once finished you should be back to 2.2.2.
5) If you phone does not boot correctly power on phone while holding [VOL+] to boot into recovery and Reset to factory defaults.
6) Delete the "dload" folder from the SD Card.

Btw when i upgraded to 2.3 i used this one here and it went pretty smoothly.
Well now i installed Aurora 4.1 how do i install the update 1a now? Also i have Saunalahti how do i do that with the connectbot? Didnt really understand it :S Calling is working atm i think.. but mobile internet doesnt
Download connectbot and open, Click ssh left side bottom and select local and use a nickname when the terminal opens type
su
setprop persist.eons.enabled 0
And reboot.
To install update 1a just flash it with cwm.
I tried the connectbot but do i have to save it somehow after i wrote that or just home and reboot? Also i've checked my APN settings they are as they should for Saunalahti :/ Got an R over my signal idk if im roaming :/ im at home internet wont work *_* Im on Aurora 4.1 atm u think it would help if i flashed 4.1 update 1a?
You can try but since you had this prob from the official update you better try reinstalling the official again
Also try this see if your net connects when you turn on data roaming if it does that means you are on roaming some how
Sent from my U8800 using xda app-developers app
umm what official should i try then? Im from finland so.. Is it just to do the exact same thing as when i upgraded from 2.2.1? Or do i need to go back to 2.2.1 first or sumfin like that?
first try a master reset if not helpful then just try doing it without downgrading if that doesn't work try it with a different official update and if that too doesn't work then try downgrading and upgrading again.
How do i do a master reset? Also i saw the downgrade guide on that root ,CWM etc.. but the link is dead

I was in the same situation for a month, until last week i did this:
flash official 3.6.8 update zip using rsd lite, this will install 2.3.3 on your device.
Then root using Superoneclick and it will work.
From here some people have said you ca install OTA root keeper so you can update to official 4.7.3 ROM, but what i did was install CM7 by vanillaLVL and it's been working perfectly.
BE CAREFULL with this method, as the very first time i tried flashing my phone with rsd lite it bricked, i could get it working again after 2 days though, just make sure you do all this on a 32 bits version of Windows.
Does this method still work on Droid Pro 2.3.4?

Hello, Does this rooting method still work on Droid Pro with Android OS 2.3.4 ? Downgrading it to 2.3.3 and then running superoneclick? Could you point me to some detail instructions somewhere! am new to the rooting process, but will do it if possible, the crap ware on my droid pro is killing the phone's performance.... also, could you please detail on CM7 ?
I assume, once the phone is rooted, I would be able to remove the crapware?
Please help.
