Rooting SHW-M180S 2.2 - Galaxy Tab General

I live in South Korea and had my Tab rooted with the Z4 root app, but after the December update a couple weeks ago, I lost root. I tried the Z4 app again, and it gets to aquiring root shell, then closes. I also tried the other app mentioned somewhere called super easy one click, or something like that. It also didn't work.
Do I just have to wait for a new root update to come out? I am a noob and don'teven know about JMB or JMU and all that. I am just looking for an easy way to root.
Model number
SHW-M180S
Firmware Version
2.2
Baseband version
M180S DL07 0151 ST
Kernel version
2.6.32.9
root SEP-41 #1
Build number

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, you can use SuperOneClick v1.5.5 to root your device
by the way , Do you have the original ROM for SHW-M180S ?

Hello. Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, I don't have the original Rom. I am not even 100% sure what that means. Is that the stock software and firmware that came with my tab when I first turned it on?
I have been trying to find the original rom for days, but can't seem to find it anywhere. Do you have a link for it? If I install it, will that bring me back to 2.2? I am ready to give up 2.2.1 just so I can get my root back.
Thanks again for helping a noob!!

Successfully rooted using Super One Click!! I don't know what happened before when Obe Click didn't work, but it worked this time!! Thanks a lot Norman!!!

Hi to all,
I am also living in South Korea in Jinju. I have just bought my galaxy tab last week. I have downloaded some games but I could not make them full screen than I found that by using spare parts, it is possible to make the applications and games full screen. However, spare parts app which I downloaded from market did not work properly in my tab.
My first question, why spare parts do not work in my tab???
Secondly, I had the same error while rooting with z4root. Could you please give more detailed information how did you succeed to root your device?
Regards,
Cagri

Dear U.cagri dogan,
Eventhough spareparts makes some applications or games scale to full screen, most of these scaled games have compatibility issues with touch controls. According to me, spare parts is mostly useless for the games but maybe a few games are compatible like PSX4DROID.
For native full screen games list for TAB, please refer to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897901
I use SuperOneClickV55 to ROOT my TAB. Follow the instructions below to root with SuperOneClick.
1- Go to Phone Settings-Applications-Development and CHECK " USB Debugging "
2- Connect USB cable both Phone and PC and wait till PC installs some drives.
3- Run SuperOneClick
4- Click to Root Button and done after a few automatic process.
5- Unplug USB Cable and reboot device. ( optional )
6- Go to Phone Settings-Applications-Development and UNCHECK " USB Debugging "
7- Download BusyBox from market
8- Run busybox and give permission when SuperUser asks for it.
9- In Busy Box, Choose version 1.7.0.1 and install.
10- Your device is full rooted now.
Hope this helps...
Kind Regards,

I believe it's an older version of SuperOneClick that works OK with android 2.1 that flipout has
I had problems using SuperOneClick, so I did it using an older version of UniversalAndroot which I used for my other phone. You download it straight to your phone by accessing this link tinyurl.com/urooted.
how do you UNroot a device?
I though that by restoring to factory defaults the root would be gone but i was wrong!
can any one help me in rooting motorola CHARM
can we root motorola charm using super one click

[Q] After upgrading to 2.2, I had problems with the rooting.

Hey guys,
I'm a new user here but I've been reading allot in the past 1 and 1/2 since when I got my first Android which was a HTC Wildfire.
I never had major problems regarding upgrade and rooting procedures but now I have a weird one.
After upgrading my Galaxy 3 (I5800) to FroYo, I've downloaded the Galaxy S I9000 One-Click Root program intending to root my phone.
Once I run the software, it gives me a a popup error message that says:
The application failed to initialize properly (0x000007b). Click on OK to terminate the application.
As anyone else here would do, I went straight to google and search for the message itself and also for the error code. With no luck, I couldn't find anything reasonable to fix it.
Note that this message happens of Windows XP SP3 and also on my Windows 7 Ultimate.
I'm just running out of ideas guys.
Have anyone here seen this error or heard about it? I search here on the forum for that code and there's nothing matching at this point.
I would appreciate if anyone here can help me.
I can take a screenshot if needed.
Cheers
Fred Kaiser
I'm not on a computer, but I believe you downloaded the wrong one.

How to root t-mobile vibrant with Froyo 2.21,froyo UVKB5 ,

I upgraded my vibrant to the lastest official rom, froyo UVKB5 , juse for those who still looking for the way to root it, I used the Super one click version 1.91 , and it works, remember ,only the version 1.91 will work, all other earlier version will not help you.
Certainly you will have to install the usb driver for Vibrant,
then download the SUPER ONE CLICK software ,
and select "USB DEBBUGING " on your phone,
then open the SUPER ONE CLICK programe,
connect your phone via usb,and click 'Root" ,
when it says done, reboot your phone, there you should get it rooted.
Lol and don't forget tto tell people how to get to clock work mod! Wait do you even know how to? Not trying to be mean bro.

You have to flash a new kernel. Then you can use ROM Manager to flash a new ROM.
I rockin Trigger atm. and I LOVE IT.

Lol no that is not how you do it! You have to have a modified 3e recovery first then you can start flashing things its not as easy as that. Since the 3e recovery checks update.zip you cannot flash clockworkmod that easily you can do it on jfd that easy but not an update which has a 3e recovery!

Just wanted to give a quick thank you as this worked perfectly for me! The 2.2 version of super-one-click constantly had me hanging but I'm glad to have found this older version and it worked like a charm
Nope did not work: UVKB5: V1.9.1 "Failed" - V2.2 - Hangs.
wHERE are they right instructions step by step? dont want to make mistake

I just spent a day trying to root my Galaxy S Vibrant using SuperOneClickv2.3.3 (after having it updated to Froyo 2.2). It did not work, no matter what I tried.
Finally, I came accross your post, googled for SuperOneClickv1.9.1, dowloaded and followed your instructions. It worked like a charm.
Once again, THANK YOU!

A couple of hours ago I helped my friend update his Tab and rooted successfully.
We downloaded firmware P1000DXJPC from www.samfirmware.com and successfully flashed to DXJPC. After rebooting, the Tab's build was essentially similar to your friend's. From that point, here's what we did:
1) Downloaded CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v3.3-CWM3RFS.zip and flashed using ODIN.
2) Rebooted
3) Updated to Superuser 3.0 via the Market
4) Loaded up the Superuser app, open the Preferences and updated Su binary to v3.0
5) Extracted zImage from the earlier downloaded DXJPC firmware and using ADB, pushed to /sdcard/
6) Used the CWM app to flash the kernel back to DXJPC
7) Done.

this is the guide I used , downgrade then root with visionary and go from there ! I was a total noob when I used this, so you should be fine mate !
Just use the Ace Hack Kit http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1259821 . It downgraded me, then rooted me, all automatically. Fantastic!
But remember to properly read the "effen manual" there is a password that you have to enter which makes sure that you read the full manual (its only a couple of pages). After running this a couple of times (once to downgrade then again to root), just install your preferred ROM. I just rooted for the first time myself yesterday. Easy as pie with this method.

about goldcard... my phone is carrier unlocked but i think the rom it's branded for Orange... i still need to make myself a goldcard ?
and when entering the menu with vol down + power.. i see up there a S-OFF... and i think the ace kit was already used...it's safe to use the ace kit.. no ?
i forgot the say that it's sim unlock and running a 2.3.3 gingerbread with 2.1 sense.
I think it's already S-OFF and super CID made... i just need to root it and get to a good stock or a very good moded version of rom
Updated and installed a new Rom
U guys r great !
Enjoy it! Now that you are rooted:
- You can uninstall (freeze) system applications you never use.
- You are now able to use MyBackPro or Titanium Pro to back your applications and settings. (This makes changing roms painless)
- You can now also use Market Enabler and use the US, UK, or any other market.
- Depending on your rom you can also start enjoying two way call recording.
Thanks man
