Hey guys,
I'm a new user here but I've been reading allot in the past 1 and 1/2 since when I got my first Android which was a HTC Wildfire.
I never had major problems regarding upgrade and rooting procedures but now I have a weird one.
After upgrading my Galaxy 3 (I5800) to FroYo, I've downloaded the Galaxy S I9000 One-Click Root program intending to root my phone.
Once I run the software, it gives me a a popup error message that says:
The application failed to initialize properly (0x000007b). Click on OK to terminate the application.
As anyone else here would do, I went straight to google and search for the message itself and also for the error code. With no luck, I couldn't find anything reasonable to fix it.
Note that this message happens of Windows XP SP3 and also on my Windows 7 Ultimate.
I'm just running out of ideas guys.
Have anyone here seen this error or heard about it? I search here on the forum for that code and there's nothing matching at this point.
I would appreciate if anyone here can help me.
I can take a screenshot if needed.
Cheers
Fred Kaiser
I'm not on a computer, but I believe you downloaded the wrong one.

Did you download from the Galaxy 3 Development section?

Those are the steps I've followed in the link bellow. I couldn't find the z4root on the market and if I download it from the internet, I suppose I need the phone rooted in order to install the app, or not?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778880
I had same problem
One click and z4 don't seem to work for 5800 froyo
Use super one click.
it worked for me
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
good stuff... this Super One-Click worked pretty sweet... it says that my phone is rooted and the SU test passed. I guess I can start having fun with my phone now!!! hehehe
thanks guys +1 for both of you!
cheers

You were not looking in the right spot if you have been looking for 6 months...root for the Hero has been around for quite awhile.
I always pay more attention to a post when every word begins with a capital letter...
For the 3 previous post responses
Whats it like to know it ALL, the posts are here to help anyone having trouble with their mobile device. I have encounterd 100s of hero users who have not been able to root since the firmware .7 update, sorry if you three are above reading comments meant to help those of us who are having problems with Rooting.
P.S. you might want to check out app brain and see how many users have downloaded this app today alone, before you pass judgement on any one. AND READ ALL THE COMMENTS.
Ignorance is bliss !!!

Its the fact that the OP said "HTC root is finally here." Its not finally here, its been here for a long time.
No one is passing judgement, we are just saying root is not new...even for .7. That app might be new, but root is not.
P.S. if those 100's of Hero users running .7 had read XDA, or done a simple Google search, they would have known you can root. .7 hasn't been out for 6 months, so you could have used Androot.
At any rate, enjoy your rooted phone.

Nice try, dosent work never did
Androot doesnt work for sprint htc hero with .7 firmware update, nor does SuperOneClick.
Thats why we dont use one click methods

Exactly. I've been playing with rooting devices since I had a HTC Mogul running WinMob.
These one-click solutions are nice and all but are usually the polish to an otherwise multi-step solution that has been around for quite a while.
But it worked with the ROM you would have had 6 months ago when you said you started searching.

are you using regaw's root for .7 method???
if so i would say go to theimpaler747 thread for cyanogenmod Q&A, the OP is VERY helpful. I used regaw's root and my freind as well, worked fine for our heros, reread the steps just to make sure you didn't miss anything.
I tried all these one click solutions on mine with the .7 upadate and they didn't work. I looked around for hours like most noobs do before they post... and the only thing that worked for me was to run the RUU to get it back to basics.
So my little first contribution/suggestion, if it's worthy, would be to note in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694572) where it says .6 underlined, to read .6 and above .7.8.9..ect.
Good luck to the OP.

There is the Easy Root thread, works with .7 and takes 5 minutes.
I ruu'ed back to 2.1 and then accepted all the updates and used superoneclick it worked.
None of the one click stuff worked for me. Trying to get http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694572 to take and everything worked accept the "Superuser Permission". I'll try from scratch in the morning. Point is, for me, the one click stuff didn't seem to work. At least the manual way is a step in the right direction. Remember to load the older 2.1 in the second thread.
Good option though FISHVENOM

No need to downgrade if you read my post.
Dear Friends,
I know that similar kind of questions has been already raised by many. But I am not clear about the anser. At present is it possible to root htc wildfire running 2.2 froyo?.With froyo, my phone is running too slow and battery is draining much faster than before.I really got fed up with this.I read in some forums that downgrading to 2.1 is also difficult. Is it so?
Hope some of our friends are working on these.
Please help me in these matters

At the moment you can't get permanant root on 2.2. You can get a temporary root, but that wont let you edit anything on /system. If you can find someone with an xtc clip you can get your phone S-OFF which makes /system writeable.
Downgrading seems to be easy based off the 2 or 3 step by step guides I've seen on this forum so far.
Your questions are no different to any of the ones asked before by others, please use the search next time.
Downgrading will work, but, it will still be unrootable. As said above, the only way as of now to root 2.2 is by using an XTC Clip hardware box to get S-OFF, then, downgrade (this is a 'proper' downgrade) and root.
You can root your phone...

Enough of this already, people. You need a XTC Clip for that, which costs about $220. This is the only way, for now.

I don't believe this. Because that process was not a newer one and was there long ago. If it worked, it must have became a lot popular by now. And "Universal Androot" is not a root application recommended for NAND locked devices like wildfire. If one has bypassed the nand security with xtc clip and made s-off, then this process might work. And once if u make s-off, there are many other rooting options available. But the point here is to root the wildfire with hboot 1.01 and S-ON dude.... Do not just stick with the thread title. Read the thread, he mentioned wildfire 2.2 clearly.
I doubt whether ur device is wildfire or not (if wildfire rooted or not). Check the below attached "Root and Me" application. In that, go to the root guides and check the compatible devices for "Universal Androot" process. There is no wildfire in that.
Just confirm any process after it worked with u guys.

U might not have asked this question if u know that his process is nothing but "Universal Androot".
Inspite of being aware, i just tried it for u. It won't work and says failed.
If anyone wants to recheck they might. Actually that process is little bit confusing. And im attaching a screen shot of that website below.
The process says to install "App installer" just to install an apk file. Cant we install an apk file from a file manager ? This is ok.
Then the process says just to enable usb debugging alone to transfer the apk file frm PC to wildfire. It not even says from ADB, so i expect it means to transfer through disk drive. Come on stop joking.
I found that this forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
was very helpful I am running droid 2.2 Froyo on a Cherry Mobile Candy
I was able to root my phone semi permanently. So long as I don't clear the data for the Z4root program I maintain superuser status. So far I have had no problems and have been able to remove bloatware using AntTek App manager with ease.
thanks man

Try to look for the error you get when input the commands and then search xda with the output. There are many posts that maybe help you. Also you can try to make a goldcard and flash a different stock rom(maybe the international version) to have market and try to root this rom. Maybe the problems caused from a different kernel version that your rom has.
Go to the unlockr website and follow their guide to unlocking the HTC tattoo. It worked for me

My friend asked me to root his samsung galaxy for him. He doesn't have a sim card in it and it is running 2.2 froyo. I have tons on experience rooting and ROMing my Droid x2 from Verizon and my Acer tablet but I don't know where to begin on this phone. I read the sticky and I've been researching for the past week and have still yet to even get the correct drivers. My friend needs it tommorow, and he already gave me some money to do it for him. If any one, any one at all could link me to the drivers for the phone, and how to root it (prefferebly not through adb) or if you can do it without hooking it up to the computer, I would be eternally greatful! All I need to do is get the phone rooted and get a recovery on there. Somebody please help! Thanks guys!!!

Hello,
I have same problem as you. I can not root my I9000 via Software like SuperRoor, OneClick Root ..etc
So I have root my phone via odin. It's very safe. Just follow the steps perfectly to root it without crack your mobile.
Let me know the android version of your mobile OR you can search in goole.com for that like "Root Galaxy S Odin 2.3.3"
THankyou all for adivce, hope it works
