Deactivated phone still showing my number - Fascinate General

Bought a G Nex, had the VZW rep activate the new phone.
Just put the fascinate back to stock, going to fed ex to a buddy in NY so he can upgrade his Droid1.
Doing a run-down to make sure everything was cleared, I noticed in the about phone menu it is still listing my number on the fascinate.
How to I completely deactivate it?
Is this normal?
I don't want some clown from Fed Ex to end up with a fully functioning phone under my account.
Help appreciated!

Really?
No one has any ideas?

Once you reactivate the phone your phone number and info will be replaced.

MSL number

This may sound like a stupid question but here goes anyway. I am returning my phone today due to dust issues, when I get the new one will that change my MSL number. I am assuming yes, but thought I would ask. And should I take it back to the 1.56 RUU or just leave it rooted. I have nandroided back to what the phone was right after it was rooted.

the sprint store won't give you a new phone, they will try to clean the dust. you can call sprint and they will send you out a refurb.
To answer your question though... If you were to switch equipment, it would change your master subsidy lock code...
MSL is phone specific. It's not something on your account, its for the specific phone you have activated.

Phone Identity/Phone Number

I just got MT4G and when I go into about phone> phone identity> phone number it says unknown. Was wondering if there is way to fix this or is this a non issue?

It will show up, give it a lil time.
Ok ill give it a little bit of time. Thanks.
if you call tmobile they can push the info to the phone. had to do it for a friends vibrant.
Mine just showed up after a while. I did transfer a # over, don't know if that's a factor
Same thing happened to mine, I wanted to use Tikl touch to talk and I couldn't cause the phone number was blank. I called T-Mobile and they supposedly pushed the info but it didn't work. I didn't bother calling back since it wasn't that big of a deal but it eventually came through several days later.
Didn't I just move something like this? Please post questions in Q&A section.

Lost Phone Help

Hi;
I have lost my phone, I know where I left it but its not there now someone must have picked it up. I have tried ringing it to see if a friendly kind has picked it up and is attempting to get it back to me but it goes straight to the answer phone so either its out of signal, switched off or the phone was found by a not so nice person and they have already swapped the SIM card.
In desperation I logged into HTC Sense and locked the phone and submitted a message? Will this work??
Now that I have locked the phone will I still be able to ring it in case someone answers?
I paid in excess of £450 for this phone unlocked from Carphone Warehouse : ( and desperately need it back.
Any ideas.
Thanks
Thanks
Report it lost to police, other than that I dunno. If you get it back install Prey, just google it and everything you need to know is there.
...
Sadly htc sense is a joke. Anyone with half a clue can bypass it with a factory reset.

[Q] How to Prepare the Fascinate for Sale

Long story short, my Fascinate crapped out, Verizon sent me a refurbished replacement, but, before I even got it, I realized I was eligible for an upgrade. So, I got a new phone AND a manufacturer refurbished Fascinate that I'm looking to sell.
My question is, how do I prepare this thing for sale? Is it as simple as a factory reset, or is there something deeper I need to do to dissociate my number from the phone?
Thanks to all who respond
factory reset takes it all away except for the SD card. You'll need to pull that and reformat it. I'd also suggest wiping it with one of those three pass programs. If you've transferred your number to the new phone then the fascinate should be deactivated.
Your number will probably still show in the settings menu until the phone is activated on another line. But aside from a factory reset and reformatting your SD card, I don't think there's much else to do.
How exactly would the seller go about activating the phone for their number? Do they just need to take it to a local Verizon store?

Bad ESN? No, Then what is it?

So a few days ago, I got a Droid X through NoMoreRack.com (well, my girlfriend did, for me) for about 70 bucks, And Verizon rejected to activate it. Claiming that the device is Reported Lost/Stolen (AKA a Bad ESN). And when I told my gf, she got really pissed and wanted to return and exchange it, but then she'll get a device with a ACTUAL screwed up esn (youll see why its not Actiual) So to save stress. I went and emailed Motorola then I did a live chat with 3 different people, that is then when i am told to do a system update (2/3 times) 1st time after they said to do so, i left, the chat and realized that the System Uptades button was grey (i was on wifi and had my google account set up) then the second time i was told that the esn was fine, then the last time they said to call, But i have no time to. And now im stuck. Any help?

updating is not going to change the esn, and verizon is the only carrier that is going to care, the esn is blacklisted on their system. easy way to check the esn go here http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/nso/enterDeviceId.do
and find Enter your Device ID to check eligibility.
