Not sure if this is the right forum, but I was wondering if anyone had seen LegolasTheElf. Trying to sort something out and I have not gotten a repsonse to my PM. He is usually prompt.

He got mad and left right after he got banned. Post your problem, I'm sure someone can help.

XDA castoff looking for new home!

Anyways, I'm one of the experts on the HTC TyTn/Hermes/8525. I thought I'd introduce myself here, and offer some assistance.
Here are MY ground rules:
1) If you keep asking me the same questions over and over again, don't be surprised that I either don't answer you, or give you a really stupid answer.
2) I can tell you what you need to know to get WM6 on your device WITHOUT bricking it. I can FIX bricks. Here's the deal. If you want general help, that's great. I can do it. If you want 1-on-1 support, you'll need to PM me and make arrangements to compensate me.
Anyways, I'm not going to be on XDA again, for a while.. So, HoFo just gained a HTC expert

Having gotten himself and his alter ego (xQx) banned by shogunmark, I'm sure he's bound to (try to?) sneak back under the radar to taunt some poor unsuspecting n00b

Legolas is saying on HoFo that he was banned because he criticized a Moderator. Just for the record, that is not the reason he was banned and the decision was not taken lightly.

Your right, he has tried.. and he does currently have a different user id on here, but i am allowing him to plead his case with us mods/admins.. but i can tell you it probably wont last....

I admit, he is a bit harsh and may have taken it a bit too far, but who doesn't get frustrated. I would rather take some good advice from someone who demands that I do my homework, than get bad advice and a $500 brick. He is knowledgeable and helpful, if not a bit abrasive Seriously, if I had a vote (which I don't), I would keep him around for his knowledge I'll take the personality quirks that go with it. I realize this may not be a popular opinion atm, but he has unbricked a bunch of Hermes.

If i myself would have only seen what all has happened on the surface then i would probably agree with you, but there has been a lot that has happened in the background that most people dont know about, nor will we make it public.. but i can assure you that the things that have happened in the background completely goes against the xda spirit...

Well, if nothing else, this story illustrates what we should all know well by now ... the internet and technology makes this a very small world ... and there no longer is the fiction of maintaining/making reputations in isolation ... a quick stroll through the HOFO thread make this point crystal clear.
Not to get biblical, but the "reap what you sow" line comes to mind.

Mods: now that the kinder and gentler elf is back, this thread can be cleaned up and locked. Removal of the previous post would be appreciated. I do think that mods should be paid some respect - even from seniors. Thanks.

Perhaps another mod should do the cleaning as I seem to be in the firing line here. I would just say that the above graphic was a purely humorous post originally created at the time M$ was making us take down the ROM archive (Hence "no Mr Gates don't do it")- it was certainly not any kind of criticism of Shogun for whom I have great respect. Let's not loose our sense of humour.

I never seen the image when it was used about the rom archive, and immediately seen it as bashing shogunmark.
@ Todd, "the kindler gentler elf" has already mentioned brainless people can't read in his posts already, and also, I don't care if I am senior or noob, (its fairly clear the intent of the Elfs avitar, even though Mikechannon had nothing to do with it) Im going to say something about it, I can't even believe he was let back in, to be honest.

And as for your statement, i dont see how that has to do with anything accept you being a noob and not understanding where im coming from. ive been here a while and helped lots as for you i cant say the same... so i think you should take your own advice.

Props to that people who wants to learn, but the ones who really wants to do it, they search and read, that's the best way of learning about something, just my point of view... anyhow life goes on so we need to point them to the right direction, always respectfully.

I think it's out of frustration. I've been on these forums READING for over a year just about every day. The DEV section should be the most moderated. There ends up being so much noise once it starts rolling, it's hard to keep up with any legitimate development changes or updates. Some people handle it "nicer" than others, but the point being, if people took the time to read before they type, their questions and comments are probably already covered. It's just frustrating seeing 3-4 mi gps iz brok threads on one page. Moderators will usually merge them so there is one cohesive conversation, not spread out over multiple threads. Why make them have to do that?

This Thread is useless, But seriously if you have been in different forums here on XDA from the very beginning, you will notice they are all like that and once roms and stuff starts getting developed, the amount of people asking and posting in wrong forums get minimized. I saw it with the G1, mytouch, htc Hero (EU), Nexus one, and now on here..... so if it upsets you that badly, create a site of your own and make it so that each user must take a "im not a noob Test" in order to become a member///-- End of Joke-- Or Just Wait a little longer for a Mod to be designated to clean out the mess.

i think it's due to a lot of people not realizing that this is a pretty technical forum so they think because they are asking a question that seems technical to them, they need to post it in the section that seems the most advanced. when really, dev is and should be just that, development. maybe 'general' should be renamed 'questions and help' or something.

well if you would have correctly looked at the post i said it worked but didnt work right and yes i found one that worked but thats cause i had to try 3 or 4 different ones until i came across one that worked and how can you search something that nothing was made for? and i answer questions all the time i help when i can all i see you doing is saying search for it yourself or this is the wrong section but never did you give any advice as where to find something or anything helpful so you should listen to yourself and take your own advice and ive helped some by finding that apk that does work... more than i can say for you

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. It's on you. Put a page before the dev forum explaining this is not a place for ideas tell them where to go this is a place to talk code basically. Give examples of common instances. Ie. The post about 2.2 the person was probably trying to be helpful (like devs wouldn't know). If you want peace say if you're unsure post in general and let s mod move it if necessary. Stop crying and do something about it. Personally I'm tired of both sides. I just want to make my phone better and help where I can.

im no one special i just see tons of post by this guy disrupting the community and i am no dev but eithier is this guy but he claims to be and spams our community with multiple accounts he is nothing but trouble
people like this are the reason xda has been slowly receeding from the android community as a creditable source that is sad because we have a lot of talent floating around here and there used to be productive convos on this forum

Im not supporting this person doing this **** but try to understand this is for android development of the droid x not some kind of blog

and what do you call what he is doing do you see the 2000 views he has had on his bs thread about a droid x rom that makes everyone that is working hard to put something out look bad man we cant let him keep getting away with this its not his first time nor on his first device go read the 100+ post on his dominate rom post in your android dev forum i dont see you over there telling him to stop

Well Im going to be blunt about this He is a sick **** that likes getting his kicks off by posting fake threads, he is a dumb ass, a lier, and a ****. But even if he gets baned and he will because he has got baned before he will make a new screen name and do it all over again

It is pretty pathetic that his posts go to such an extent that he even puts lengthy changelogs for roms he never even makes.
I think we should all cut him a break and let him stay. I feel kinda bad for a kid thats got nothing else to do. I mean come on, its got to be really bad for him if thats what he calls fun. So sad....Im actually gonna cry a bit. Nevermind I got over it.

what about my post history ok i have said some stupid things not understanding (Efuse) but i admit i dont understand and i take the things that people say and learn from them. i never claim to work on a project i dont have the know how to complete or even start.
never have i been a burdon to this community being slightly ignorant in the programing and hardware aspect of these devices and os is not a crime and i have always felt the it was incouraged to learn here. so thats what im doing learning im not a devoloper and never have claimed to be one i have offered up my device for testing because i can afford to replace my device if it bricks because i want to see the droid x become as custamizable one day as my poor excuse for an android eris but w/e man think what you will

This kid really does need the boot, he does nothing but bring drama to this community and this site. He needs to be banned not only for what he's done, but what he might do in the future, he's a virus. There are far too many good people here that want to learn and share info with each other, but this kid basically ruins it for the rest of us. Please do us all a favor and get rid of him(and get rid of him again when he makes a new screen name).

This isnt the way to handle the situation guys........you are feeding his addiction, how much you want to bet he's sitting there mashing the f5 button anxsiouly waiting to see what everyone is saying about him? After reading his thread about making a Nexus One kernel, I do agree it is getting out of hand but this truly is a job for the mods, the community IS his addicition, and all we are doing is feeding it. I wish I had a solution but after typing a few and then deleting them while typing this post I realize I am at a loss. Even if we all agreed to ignore him, what about the people who are visiting xda for the first time??? I have been visiting the Droid X forum daily since its inception here at xda(day oner), and it saddens me greatly to see this lunacy has spread from the Incredible forum which I have also frequented for some time.

Haha. i remember this guy from when I had an N1, and yet I'm so naive that he got me again. His act does kind of put a damper on things, but I agree with those who think that he is less of ****ty person than he is a troubled person in need of attention. In fact, while this thread obviously doesn't belong in the Dev forum (or xda at all for that matter), I find this situation fascinating. He would make a great case study for my Master's thesis.

When the hell are people going to wake up and realize that the people that aren't as tech savvy are going to make mistakes. It's 10x easier to help and let a mod do their god damn job rather than just waste time typing useless BS.
If anybody bothers reading this, please for the love of god be a good member of the community. You are worth nothing more than ANYBODY else regardless of what your thanks meter says. Even developers need to play by the same rules as everybody else, be civil and don't lash out at people for simple mistakes.
Oh ya, BTW, the Q & A section of any god damn forum is almost always the least active. This isn't yahoo answers, people don't come here and log in with the intent of answering questions. They come here to flash roms. Do you think even developers frequently check Q & A? Probably not. So perhaps the better thing to do is create an optional section of the development forum that has questions pertaining to development. Turn it off if you don't care and leave it on if you don't mind firing off an answer every once in a while.
Developers know answers to questions, not the people that post in the Q & A forums... you know the people with the damn questions.
So please, everybody, get off your high horse. This is an internet forum. It was created to be a resource for people that want to improve their phone. Get rid of this drama, it would result in a better community.
P.S. The savagedzenkernel crap that happened here is ridiculous. As well as a lot of the things going on this Evo development forum. A lot of favoritism as of late and it's kind of sad. If you don't get thanked in a long list of thanks are you really losing sleep? You developed something and are distributing it for free, you make it public. If you know it's in their work then you have the satisfaction of knowing they had to use your stuff to make their **** work. That's all the thanks you need, you want more don't make it public. If i stand outside of a store with free pretzels i don't expect everybody to say thank you when they take one.
Funniest part, the average end user could give a crap about who did what in a kernel or who tweaked what governor. They don't even care who you are, what your name is, or what your rep is. Most don't donate (I have donated various times to various roms myself) and I never USED to. Once i became more involved, i did.
So, please, everybody... strive for something better rather than the trash this site is slowly becoming. Change starts with the individual.

While I agree that there are a lot of tools on this forum that come in and flame on the noobs, one can only take so many, "how do I root my Evo?" And every other retarded question that's asked that could have been answered by doing a quick fast and easy search. And then if you don't answer there question immediately, or give them the link that answers the question, they get snooty because you didn't answer the question, but pawned them off to another thread.

I am sure everyone has made the mistake of posting in the wrong forum one time or another. It is amazing how fast some people starting flaming. It's as though they are just skimming through the forums waiting to find something or someone to jump on. I would ban people too.

I get where you coming from and i agree, but you did set yourslef up to get trashed and kinda encourged the actions what you were complaining about to begin with.

Ya know, the same "this site is going to trash" comment has been made since I joined here 3 years ago. With every new phone and new rom the same comment gets made by people who want things to go the way they think it should. Its an internet forum and the beauty of it is you have thousands of people that all have a mind of they're own and individual opinions of how things should be done. Yeah some people get pissed because the same question gets asked over and over again and after answering it 50 times they finally have enough. How many people do you think actually read the "Read this before posting questions thread"? Id bet less then 10% of new users. Maybe it needs to be mandated before viewing any other forums to avoid back to back separate threads of "how do I flash a rom".
Isnt that what thread titles are for? So you know what your going to read before doing so? If you dont want to answer that question again then just skip the thread. The opposite end of that spectrum is if you dont like that someone is getting pissed for the same thing being asked over and over again then grab your little mouse wheel and spin that ***** once and guess what, that comment is gone. Hell theres even a feature to ignore someone, use it. Theres no need to complain either way about this. Its a forum, they all work the same way.

I know how you feel OP, I've seen many threads where people would post pages upon pages of: "YOU POSTED IN THE WRONG THREAD, RETARD!". They could just politely say. "Just to let you know, you posted this in the wrong section. For future posts like this, they would go in the Q&A." Then they could let the thread die. But I know some people just strive for drama on the internet.
And OP, if you really want to become a moderator of something. Playstation Home needs some good ones. I think I have seen more flamers and trolls on there than any internet forum I have ever been on. :x

As much as I agree with a lot of what the OP has said, I do however not agree with the tone and attitude used by the OP in the first post.

I myself have never posted there...because I think it's just a waste of time...however, instead of spamming useful threads, go there and "Say hi" or tell everyone "what you are listening to" or whatever. There are plenty of places to get your posts up, and not spam at the same time! It's the best of both worlds!
I remember when I first joined XDA....it took me months to even get up to 10 posts, but when I got there I felt pretty good because I only posted when I had a question that I couldn't find the answer to, or had something I felt was important to say. But I digress, great thread Wood. It needed to be said.

On a serious note, I would like to see the minimum 10 post requirement also get a minimum 10 search requirement tacked on. Then (and only then) would they be unleashed into the wild blue dev yonder ... and probably still ask for eta's. :what::sly:

In the RC forums we have been talking to the Senior Mods ans Admins about changing it to 50 posts and the way the conversation is going, it looks like it should pass fairly soon.

Bad thing about that is if a dev just signs up on XDA and is going to post a ROM immediately he has to find a way to get 50 posts!
Maybe make it so creating a thread requires 10, but replying to a thread that's not your own in the development section requires 50?

I try to be as polite as possible and helpful when I can, but sometimes it is just so hard. I'm never mean about it, but I do seem to find the right meme or comical stylings sometimes.
But you do bring up a good point. A Mantra if you will. "You should always post like someone is going to come in at a later date and re-read them. Would you be ok with that?"

There was some talk about that too but mostly just banter. Someone also wanted a "slap" button but soon realized that it would get out of hand too quickly.
