Cm9 alpha build coming in a couple of days!!! - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

So the man himself over on google plus said an alpha build will be ready in a couple of days

can't wait to try it out.

Yep, I'm starving for a piece of ICS.
I hope not too many things are still broken and a beta will be our christmas present

Or if you have the CM9 (ICS) repo you can try building it today. What I did was try building GT_P7510 by doing brunch GT_P7510 -j16 and then when it fails, use the extract_files.sh script to copy the proprietaries over from honeycomb. Doubt I'll really have time to play with it as ICS on it's own takes about an hour.

No 7500 build

Does anybody know why the good / new things always come to the P7510 first? The P7500 has 3G support, so it should be supported first and after that the 3G functions removed for THE OTHER ONE
My opinion.

Because the people developing it have the P7510, why would they develop for a tab they don't own?

More people own the wifi only in general, anyway. Why do I want to pay for another line?

Lets just hope, but he doesnt say it will be a public alpha build. So lets just hope. And if im not misstaken i think Mad-murdock, well known CM dev has the GT-P7500 and he is always fixing **** for the devices he has.

I had a Wi-Fi Tab and it was a pain in the ass to travel with. Get out the phone, enable Wi-Fi sharing, connect the Tab, disconnect the Tab, disconnect Wi-Fi sharing. If you forgot the latter, the phone's dead the next time you go to use it. I'm paying $20 a month for unlimited data and messaging with no contract on my UK 3G Tab. To me, that's worth the convenience and being able to split my data usage over two devices so I don't get the dreaded "top 5%" message from AT&T. I think 3G tablets are a lot more popular outside the U.S. where data's less expensive and you don't have to commit to multi-year contracts.

Can't wait to see what task can do with cm9!

I added my Tab to my account as an additional line for $9.95 and then added the data for non-Smartphones plan to it for an additional $10. The latter's $15 if the account doesn't have unlimited messaging on it. You can only do this with either the P7300 or P7500. It won't work with devices AT&T sells directly because they have the IMEI in their system.

Radio is hugebpart of update
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
and ironically the Radio is the only thing that BLOWS on this phone. The ONE thing they had to do they screwed up on.
In order to build android you have to have the proprietary binary files for the wimax and cdma radio. the documents above prove that update has been built and they have the "new radio" if they are even going to update it. so i would not blame sprint/samsung for the delay, they did their job. google needs to finish with whatever tweaks they are working on and release the update or at least commit the code so we can compile.

I've seen this photo a lot...exactly where is the from (ie. the original link..)?
I'm not sure why a new thread was needed but this delay could be because of tweaks needed for google wallet as that seems to be the big feature coming to the Nexus S line.
The photo is a screen shot of a sprint corp computer that was sent into android central by one of phil's sources
I'm so close to leaving Sprint. Unlimited is nice but it is useless if I can't actually use data correctly. I love when I have 2 bars of 4g but can't get any network activity and forced to use Sprints awesome upgraded dialup 3g service.

I found this at opensource.samsung.com for the SPH-D720. Not sure if means much and still would be nice if they release come source code that they currently have. Either way no big deal, I enjoy my Nexus S and really dont any issues with it. I would like better radio signal but who wouldn't. You could get a phone much worse off at Verizon, AT&T, or T-MOBILE. So good luck to the people jumping the boat. I expect a influx of people joining up with Sprint before Spring and then it will bog down the network. I hope they have a plan in place to take care of that issue that may happen.

Gripe

What is the purpose of owning a nexus device on a cdma network? I am so tired of google and networks in so many ways. I thought the purpose of owning a nexus device was that I would receive update directly from google. I own a nexus 4 g and a motorola zoom lte and have not received an update in over 4 months. I really hope for google sake there is some improvement in the future with updates of nexus devices.

I'm stock rooted still on GB. I'm not into roms necessarily only reason I root is for wifi tether and titanium backup. Or maybe removing or freezing apps but it doesn't matter on a nexus device. Bottom line is that GS2 and vivid GSM models have gotten updates before my nexus. All I'm saying is CDMA networks do not push updates for nexus devices as they should and google obviously can't provide updates in a timely manor for these devices either. This is a problem with google plus the cdma networks.

ahh ok,I can respect that. Much more than all the other threads on here complaining about not getting the update, yours is more based on the CDMA networks which is the source of the problem for what you're referring to.
That's why I came here cdma updates can be few and far between at times.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
There isn't a reason really. With an htc device for example you get aosp like cyanogen plus you get sense if you want it. I had both options on my evo shift. No one really knew the cdma nexus experience didn't really mean **** until recently since this was the first cdma nexus.
The good thing about this is that now i have opened myself up to more options for my next phone like the htc one or gs3 where up until about January i was only ever going to get nexus phones even though they are usually lacking in something like the camera, fm radio, no sd slot or whatever. And it doesn't matter since updates won't cone any faster and the wonderful devs keep us up to date.
the files for the cdma radio are proprietary, google has to wait for the networks to provide them. googles part is done and available. they even came said a few months ago that cdma nexii arent considered developer phones anymore, just for that reason. its the cdma networks that you should let know how you feel.
im on 2.3.7, it aint broke so im in no hurry to fix it. when i get an official update then ill update. i dont see what the big deal is
I am a very happy CDMA Nexus S owner. I've been rocking 4.0.4 on my NS4G since this morning, I'm not sure what people are complaining about. Yes, we all thought that since we have Nexus devices we'd get personal invites from Goog to test out their new OS. Turns out this is not true, stupid us for thinking that. But in the end what's the difference? As soon as the update is in AOSP our awesome devs have it ready for us to crackflash. These complaint threads are getting old, when did XDA turn into Facebook?

S4 Dropbox offer/multiple offer question

Hi all,
I dont really know which forum to post this in but i'll try here..
I am currently using a HTC One X, which I recieved 25GB of Dropbox storage via the promo offer they had when purchasing the phone last year.
I will now be purchasing a Samsung Galaxy S4 within a couple of weeks & wanted to know if anyone from a similar situation can confirm if the Samsung 50GB offer will get ADDED to the HTC 25GB? Or will it be ineligible?
I've done some searching but seem to be coming across conflicted info..
I have found a lot of former S3 users reporting that they are ineligle after purchasing the S4 as they can only have ONE Samsung promo running at any one time but as my situation is from two different manufacturers, I am curious to see if this is possible?
Thanks guys

Hi,
As I understand it,you will only get the 50GB if you open a new account.
This will only last 2 years.
Then, they take it back.
It will certainly not be added to any other account you have.

I really don't know what you're asking. You didn't say anything about being able to receive SMS messages in your previous posts, and while in theory the tablet can receive them it's not an officially supported feature and is only there to allow you to manage your mobile data connection. The link to the factory images doesn't make any reference to the 2013 Nexus 7 being able to make phone calls or send SMS - it has the words "Nexus 7 2013, mobile" because it's the 2013 Nexus 7 that has a mobile data radio in it.
Here's the official manual: http://static.googleusercontent.com...roid/android_ug_42/Nexus-7-Guidebook-2013.pdf
If you can find any references in there to phone calls I will eat this post.

The Nexus 7 LTE does not have the necessary hardware to make normal phone calls.
It does have a basic SMS receiver app as stock.
EDIT: apparently it does have the hardware, but it's disabled somehow. See comment below.

FYI - This doesn't actually do anything. It will say you've turned it on, but it doesn't work.
They also removed the auto restart feature.
I finally have 7.0 on my Verizon GS7 Edge. I know Verizon blocks some Samsung features, but I was wondering if anyone has a list of everything that is missing. Unfortunately, this is a work phone, so I can't just switch carriers. I had the Note 7 with T-Mobile, but we all know how that turned out. Rather than carrying 2 S7 Edge phones I decided to cancel my line with T-Mo and just rock the one phone for a while. Now I'm wondering if that was a mistake.

For everybody upset about the removal of features, wait for the 7.0 U firmware and flash it.

If it ever comes LOL
Hey, just be happy they didn't remove the GPS, phone-dialer, SMS and the clock - and then offer to sell them back to you [VZ Clock, VZ GPS, VZ Phone, etc.]
Hell, I'm kind of surprised they don't remove the entire Android OS and offer to sell THAT back to you for a monthly fee.

It will. XDA as a whole is just a bunch of impatient whiners, and I've been here a long time.

Well, they do have VZ Nav, and I'm honestly surprised they haven't blocked Google Maps from their branded devices. Back in the early days of Android, they actually didn't ship them with Maps, though you could still install it later.

I remember on my Omnia Verizon locked the GPS, it worked only With VZNav. Definitely a shady company.

On a related note, is there a repository of apk files for all stock apps in the 935U firmware? I might try installing P the app alone.
