Missing texts

Hi first post on here so hello. I have a HTC TYTN which is on the 3UK mobile network and i notice that i dont always recieve SMS messages and in fact a collegue of mine has the Orange version (unlocked with a 3 SIM) and also gets the same problem. I used to get this on a standard build TYTN and recently upgraded the Radio ROM to 1.35 and the OS to WM6 hoping that it was software related, but i still get missing texts. I just sent 10 texts from another 3UK mobile and only recieved 2...in fact when ever i have tested this you do seem to only get 2 out of the messages sent.
I also dont get delivery notifications, but not sure if this is related.
Any ideas? I would suspect that is most likely to do with 3's Network and as the phone is not officially support doubt anything will be done about it, but i thought i would just ask and see if anyone else has had this issue and had any suggestions...

Welcome to the wonderful world of Tytn - A rewarding if sometimes frustrating experience
I've read about folks not receiving or being able to send SMS at all, I've read about folk missing texts if the device freezes while in sleep mode, but I have not read about only receiving a proportion of texts sent. Still maybe you'll get some posts to cofirm or otherwise whether it is the three network.
As regards notifications. Normally notifications will be set to on, but perhaps not in your case. The following is taken from the wiki see brown bar near top of this page. This refers to the registry and is the change necessary to turn notifications off (as many seem to want). In your case it would be a reversal of the settings:
Disable SMS received notification
The following setting disable SMS notification and sms recieved icon on screen
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSAvailable = 0>
​To enable again
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSAvailable = 1>

Cheers for your reply, but what i meant by delivery notifications is when i send a SMS to someone and i get a sms back saying it got delivered. I think to be honest this is all part of the same problem. I know someone who works within the 3 messaging team so might ask him to trace the SMSs for me and see what happens.

Do you get a notification saying "message sent"?
I have heard of cases (not on 3) where texts have been sent, and then the messaging application closed before this notification appears, and then when the app is opened again, 2 identical texts are sent.
It seems that if the app is not left open for sufficient time after sending (ie before the 'message sent' notification appears), the device can get confused.
Having said that, on t-mob, texting to and from o2, over the past 6 months there have been 1 or 2 occasions when the text sent has not been received for about 3 hours!

Yea i have had the odd instance where friends have recieved multiple texts also occasional get the SMS was not able to be sent message.
I don't seem to get delay in recieving texts just never get some. Interesting a friend bought a newer TYTN last week (mine is august/september last year) and he doesnt have the issue and we both have same ROM versions.
Did another test today and out of 10 only got 6. Very strange, it is starting to drive me crazy LOL. Even more so that other people i know have same issue (out of the 6 people i know who have Hermes phones 5 have the issue all on the 3 UK mobile network either TYTN or Orange one unlocked). The 5 of use did buy the phones all about the same time.
I can only assume there has been some very minor change in the hardware or firmware between the earlier Tytns and the later ones.
I have logged a call with HTC Tech support europe and he said never seen this before but he will pass it to the dev team to look at...so be interesting what they come back with.

Phone doesn't ring most of the time

my friends always keep complaining me that i never pick up there calls, but most of the time my phone doesn't ring at all. One of my friend even confirmed me by calling my number in front of me, and my phone didn't ring.
what could be the problem. Plz Help!
Another related problem is that i sometimes receive the messages after 10 to 20 minutes of their delivery. And also after sending 3 to 4 messages, the new sent message stays into the sent box and gets delivered after i restart the phone.
Is this the phone problem or something else.

the sms problem is bugging me a lot when i use reliance sim card.Are u using reliance or any new operator ??????
and for the call problem try after doing a hard reset.

Who's your service provider?
I had the exact same issue with my airtel prepaid number and was not able to find any solution to it...i have changed now to Vodafone prepaid and it works like a charm..
PS : I had this problem not only with my HTC P3400 but also with my HTC Touch...and it vanished just like that after i switched to Vodafone postpaid.

i have also faced this problem of getting complaints from friends. They call me they get ring back But my phone doesn't rings at all & no miss call is recorded.

Same problem.....!!
Gene 100 has bugs in the current ROM radio....which is Default ....!!
but is can be solved once changed it from old rom to new....!!
u can find new rom and there guide in XDA.

Major sms issues!!!!

Hello everyone I’ve just received my hd 2 on Tuesday and it’s a wonderful phone, but I am having a serious problem with sms. My friend and my wife sent me a message yesterday and I received today. I sent my wife a few messages yesterday and today and she hasn’t received any. Is anybody else having the same problem? I’ve been on google for hours trying to figure out the problem but I haven’t found any answers. Please can somebody help me? I really like this phone and I don’t want to take it back.

Why do people automatically assume the issue is with the phone?
Dial 611, T-Mobile customer service.
I had a similar issue but with MMS, not SMS, T-Mobile switched me to a different tower and all is well, took no more than maybe 10 minutes.
Call Customer Care, its there for a reason...There is no solution to a fix on a STOCK HD2 besides a hard reset, the phone should be working 100% out of the box.

I have read somewhere on here that it has to do with the internal time on your fone or some nonsense like that. I never have heard it this bad but you can can go to start/settings/data services/internet time sync. I heard that has helped some people...but now that you mention it..me and my girl have had the same issue today and yesterday...well this morning she sent me a text and i didnt get it until 1130 or so..might just be a data issue?!

Yes sir you are correct I think it was a data issue. The reason why I thought it was my device because I searched on google and I seen that a lot of people have sms problems with the hd2.

Not receiving text messages :S

hi my phone has been good but for the whole of today i havent been able to receive any text messages. i can send them fine and email seems to be working fine as well. When I got home I put my sim into my old phone and after a little while i received the 8 messages.
What could be up? do i need to send the phone back?
when i put the sim back in my phone is was working again.
When it wasnt working I had already tried turing phone on and off.
Also unrelated but I have had some weird problems with my phone not working with bluetooth properly. It will pair easily and work fine but then (again today) my paired devices were not connecting and I had to delete the pairing and add them again for it to work.

Just bumping once to see if anyone else has had this problem and has any suggestions.

i have had the same problem with not receiving texts on my galaxy s. though mine was just from one number. after the usual helpful advice of switching off and on removing sim card etc it still wasnt working. putting the sim in a new phone worked and the only way to get the samsung working again was to reset everything to factory. This lasted about a week and then it's happened again this morning.
Ive checked my blocked contacts and its empty and vodafone/samsung aren't being especially helpful.
It would appear a factory reset is the only thing that sort of works.

Anybody still having this problem. Mine just started this a week ago. Only hard reset fixes it.

Hmm, I've been having similar issues, with texts not being received and all calls being forwarded straight to voicemail. A day later I get a barrage of texts and voicemails.
This has happened about 2 or 3 times now

A friend of mine had this problem, or something like it (she didn't really describe it in detail). In any case, she was told (by Optus) to connect the sim card to another phone (turn it on), and then put it back on the SGS.

I've just had this problem with the Galaxy S (stock Eclair) on Three(UK). Stopped getting text messages yesterday but could still send messages, emails, browse the web etc.
Bit the bullet this morning and factory reset. Two minutes later I received about twenty text messages.
Seems like this may be a problem with the Galaxy S. If it happens again the phone is going back for something else.
Maybe Froyo will sort it out once Three have worked out how to get it distributed.

I don't receive certain messages from my girlfriend when she texts me, i do receive others though, it's highly annoying. I'm on giffgaff (O2) at the moment and running Ficeto's JVH rom 2.3.3
Any ideas why this is happening?

i have experienced this too. . . fixed it by switchin network mode to gsm instead of auto. . .
maybe my area has weak wcdma signal. . .

I am guessing your old phone isn't a Samsung ? I was having the same problem and I figured it out. Samsung phones don't receive texts when a full number is put in. +1-555-555-5555. This is the number format Facebook uses. So if the person texts you using your Facebook linked number you'll never get it. Bravo Samsung! Bravo.

[Q] sms problem

I have a problem, for some reason I can't send text messages. I could last night and it's only been on standby since then. I just get the message with an exclamation point. Any ideas? I'm pisting this ffrom my phone, do I don't think it's my operator or anything like that. And yes, I have tried restarting the phone =P

Had this last week with Tmobile UK. It did resolve itself after a few hours so I don't know if it was a network thing or my phone, but yes it drove me bonkers whilst it was happening. With Tmobile you can ask for them to send your phone an sms with the text settings on by sending 'Fixme' to their customer service number 150.
It came out of no-where, don't know if the text fixed it or whether there was just a glitch in their system, but its been fine since. (Fingers crossed!)
