Hey all. I have a t-mobile branded HTC HD2 that I bought used from someone on craigslist. It is on MIUI android 2.3.7 rom, and I have the 3G plan which should work because I see the "H" which is for HSPA+ right, on the phone right now. I received mms fine, and internet it work but super slow. I ran speedtest and can never get past 14 KB/S
Is there a way I can restore this to stock windows mobile 6.5, or even flash it to cyanogen mod 7.1 because I have no idea how this guy flash the device. Thank you for all your help!
hey dude i'm on the same plan as you are i'm running rom american android 2.3.5 on my hd2 and my internet speed is quite alright, almost same as when i had t-mobile

If I restore to stock windows mobile, will that leave my phone un-rootable? Also I don't have a sd card for now... how can I still restore without one?

Right now I have that android MIUI rom and I tried to restore it using the official tmobile but it won't recognized the drivers so what do I do now to restore it to windows mobile....
Put it in bootloader mode, and hook it up to ur computer, and let it install the drivers automatically. Then after install a stock rom but when you go to the ruu, run as administrator.

How do I put it in bootloader mode? I can get to the android recovery menu by holding power and up button but how do I put it in bootloader mode?
Ok I got it to restore back to windows mobile It didn't recognize the sim from simple mobile because it's not unlocked. How do I continue to get it to unlock?
Allright, I got to as far as having magldr and cwm on the device but I can't access the internal memory to put a rom in there to install. cwm keep saying error can't access e: unable to write to ums lunfule (no such file or directory). I can hear the usb sound in windows 7 going ding in and ding out like normal usb but i just can't see it. I even go to as far as installing the google sdk drivers and stuff.... Please help.
You're going to need to have it unlocked. It can be done online for about $13.50. Don't pay for it if it costs any more than that.
To install Android from a ROM via Magldr, you need to have the ROM .zip on the SD card. You cannot directly access the internal memory. The ROM will do that for you. So... you put your SD card into a reader and into your computer. Get the .zip file on it. The, in Magldr, there's an option in Android to install from zip/SD card or something like that.

there has to be a way to unlock and root when on android because someone rooted this on miui rom and prolly unlocked it that's why I could put simple mobile and use it before, but internet was messing up that's why I had to start fresh.

It's already rooted. You don't need to do it again.
When you press and hold vol down and power button while powering on and you get to the "tri-color screen"... that's the bootloader. If it reads HSPL 2.08 or something like that, then it's rooted.
If you're trying to start completely over, you first flash the stock WM6.5 ROM via ruu. Then, you install Magldr via ruu and the other magdlr update for Android (I don't recall the exact details). Then, get the Android ROM .zip file onto your SD card. Enter Magldr, go into Android section, and choose to install .zip from SD card... et voila!
There are probably a few steps I'm forgetting, but it's extremely easy to do.
re: sim unlocking... this has nothing at all to do with rooting. You need a sim unlock code and are probably going to have to pay for it. I did for mine. It, too, was very easy.

Oh I see... so now the rooting part is done, but what about the unlocking part? Last time I know they created a program to find an unlock code for android on samsung galaxy s from att, do they not have an unlock code finder for htc hd2? I don't want to "pay" to get a code...

A search online with the model number and "unlock" will yield what you're looking for. I paid $13.50, but it looks like it's around $17 now.
Nice to see the actual concern went completely offtrack:
Now first of all my friend works for Simple Mobile (he is a tech support representative)
The 40$ simple mobile plan which says unlimited talk text and web (3G)
clearly says SPEEDS UPTO 3G
now in reality all Simple Mobile customers are capped down to 118Kbps...
(well my friend does this to everyone so I know)
i have two other friends with simple mobile and the same plan and both of them get horrible speeds which are not 3G but in reality EDGE !!
but not me ! since a little bit tweaking was done from my friends side giving me pure 3G.
so yeah....the 40$ plan wont give you 3G speeds...move to the 60$ if need speed

If you read the OP again, you'll notice that the internet speeds section was a statement and the part about flashing to stock and then another Android ROM was the question.
We've been on topic. Your solution about your mobile carrier does not apply to someone on a different carrier. It could be that he's over his limit for data and has been throttled. It could be that there are issues with his ROM, or in the settings for APN and data connections. Regardless, he's already flashed away from the ROM that he received, so it's a non issue until he states otherwise.

internet speeds and flashing roms have nothing in common !
your welcome.
also the OP didn't specify what simple mobile plan he is on but since it says 3G
its safe to assume its a 40$ 3G plan.

Hi all - I'm in a bit of trouble.
Tried changing the OS to Android and must have made a mistake somewhere along the line.
Was using ROM update utility MAGDLR V1.13 and got as far as updating the ROM Was told that the screen should go black and if it didn't, then I needed to perform a reset.
I did this and now the screen just shows the htc logo on white background.
Irish phone - got it august '10. recently upgraded ROM from HTC site to version 3.14.405.2 but not sure now whether I've wrecked it completely.
Was just sick of WinMo and wanted a change - can anyone help please?
ND
boot into bootloader and start again. do you have hspl? right radio?
get into bootloader. flash magldr. then flash nandroid.
you probably need to downgrade the rom to get to hspl 2.08
Thanks - I got the correct HSPL and installed it on the phone, that part was fine. The problem now is that the handset isn't even acknowledging when it's plugged in. And when I connect via USB, the computer isn't registering any connection to it.
I think it's toast! The only thing I can see is a white background with green htc lettering i.e. welcome screen
Thanks for getting back to me, any other ideas?
Will I be able to reload original windows back on by myself?
Try windows 7 XP sucks doing this kind of stuff

Thanks very much for the response. As above, the handset is completely unresponsive - it's not even showing a "charge" when plugged in.
Any help greatly appreciated

Can you get to bootloader?
(power on while holding vol. down)........
If so, get to bootloader then connect via usb. The word serial at the bottom of the screen should change to USB. This sometimes takes a few minutes (for me anyway)
Once it reads "USB" flash a WM6.5 Rom in the usual way.......
If you cant get to bootloader then theres a good chance you've somehow borked your device......
Thanks everyone and in particular jsmmcabe and conantroutman
I got into bootloader and I'm trying to reinstall the windows os from there.
will let you know how I get on,
thanks again guys - lifesavers
I should have mentioned that flashing a stock 6.5 rom will wipe HSPL.
If you flash a stock rom then you will need to reinstall HSPL before attempting any MAGLDR/NAND shenanigans... (sheNANDigans?? see what I did there )
If you flash a custom ROM from XDA then your HSPL will be ok......
Also should have mentioned the age old "NO .51. radios on a tmous" advice.........
Good luck.......
Well after all of that I went to Pirate Bay, downloaded an Android 2.2 file, copied it onto my SD card and ran it.
Hey presto, I have an Android Phone!
I cannot begin to tell you how much better it is. It's fast, it doesn't freeze, the whole interface is much cleaner and easier to use.
SNAG ITEM:
Tried doing the same with a friends phone and when activating the copied files from the SD card, the thing just hangs and I have to reset the phone.
Any idea why it worked on mine and not his?
Same phone, bought in Ireland, a week apart. Different mobile operator networks though..... I'm Vodafone, he's O2 - weird, no?

Could be its not booting because of an incompatible radio....
must be above 2.08.50..... you can find this info in settings about phone...
Also, why download android from the piratebay???
Everything android related you could possibly need is here on XDA.
Personally Id be suspicious of anything from a site like that. Theres no way of knowing whats in that Rom. I would change to a well used and trusted build from XDA if I were you.
Theres no exact science to getting this running on different phones, what works for one may not work for another......
Just like the title says,
Running Android NAND, digitizer died. Device is under warranty,
can I reflash it back to wm6.5? all the hardware buttons still work.
I did search but limited info came up.
Just go to HTC.com and download the latest ROM for your phone - choose your country and input your serial or EIMI number and it will only allow you to download the correct software
.
Extract the 'RUU_signed.nbh' file from it. (you need Winrar installed to do this - just right-click the file and select 'extract files to xxxxx' )
Format an SD card (smaller than 4gb) in windows or in your phone.
Place the nbh file onto the card and rename it 'LEOIMG.nbh' reboot the phone into bootloader (hold the volume down key in whilst booting).
That should place the stock HTC Rom on your phone, and no need to touch the screen.
If your phone came with a branded ROM from your provider, go to their website and download the ROM from there instead of HTC to return it to stock.
I tried to use TMobiles update. My computer thinks its an android device so the software cant find it. Is there a link to the OEM TMobile Rom?

This is for both of you to revert back to a Windows Mobile Stock T-Mobile ROM downloade the official update ROM from T-Mobile.com link posted below. You will have to looke under your battery to get your IMEI number to enter so uou can down load it. After you get the ROM you have to reboot your HD2 but hold the volume down button down while it is bootng to bring up bootloader. Connect to your comouter via USB cable wait to see USB in the white bar of yve bootloader screen then run the updatd utility.
http://dl.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobileUS/Filedownload.aspx?pid=leo2
Or hou could go the SD card rout as membe Boradan posted in post #2 of this thread. I actually suggest the SD carx method as it will remove MAGLDR, HSPL, and reinstall SPL so you are completely good to go for warranty reasons
When you restore WM from sd as Boradan explained it goes back to original spl.
But for safety check your spl version after flashing.
Mine's been serviced twice without any problems with that method.
The warranty here in Sweden for HTC devices is 2 years. Dunno about other countries.
But I'm pretty shure HTC service is aware of us using android as they are aware of the xda site.
Hello all. I just got a HTC HD2 from a friend. It has Windows running on it and then he put android 2.2. Well had gave it to me today and said that when he wiped the info on it today for some reason it wiped the bootloader and now instead of asking which OS I want to run when I start the phone it goes straight to Window. From there I have to manually go to the SDCard and launch it.
How do I fix this issue?
I want to put the Android OS on the Phone rather than the SDCard, is there a simple way to do this at the same time?
And I want to put a new rom anyways on the phone at some point. I rather have Gingerbread running on it, would there be an option to fix this all at once?
I understand the phone to a degree and how it works but rather new to how to do all this at once or in the right order, and what to look for.
ANY HELP WOULD BE AMAZING!!! I need to get this phone up and running by the end of the day. Thanks again.

I need more feedback guys, I don't want to brick the phone, in what order should I proceed?

Hey just click on my guide I have in my sig and read it as it will let you now more about the tools you need to flash a NAND Android ROM. I also have that guide that was linked for you linked at the top of my guide and another very good guide to installing Android to NAND that is posted at the top of the Portal as I gues you would call it a stickie for now as it has been there ever sense Gunjahman wrote it.
Also if you want to stay with a SD card Android build then check out this dual boot app.
I bought this phone three months ago knowing WP8 was coming out soon. :crying:
I see the XevRev for Spark_W stuff, radio collecctions, tons of custom rom stuff, and etc, but I'm at the point where I'm utterly confused at what it what.
I guess I'm asking where I should start?
Here is what I think might be relevant:
OS Ver: 7.10.8773.98
FW Ver: 2305.13.30202.605
HW Rev: 0003
Radio SW Ver: 1.43.00.06.14_23.17w.05.13U
Radio HW Ver: 3.2.3.D4
Bootloader Ver:3.2.230513.2
Changed DUN NAI from dun.vzw3g.com to vzw3g.com
Just got my dev unlock through dreamspark.

Well, dev unlock is really unnecessary if you plan on installing an HSPL and flashing a custom rom. Then again, your OS version of 8773.98 suggest that you are running DFT or ansar's rom, but didn't install HSPL (only RSPL to flash the rom). Even with the official rom, your OS level should be 8779.8 after updating via Zune.
First, if you REALLY want to unlock the power of this phone, install HSPL using my HSPL guide for SparkW. It explains every step in detail so you can be ready to flash a custom rom.
Second, give my SparkW rom XevRev a shot for a great Tango experience. Just flash the rom, then update via Zune after setting up the phone to get the newest radio installed. It has FullUnlock and Root Tools, and is the only rom currently around that allows for the phone to be fully programmed using *228 (older roms have an older Xap Deployer package that didn't allow the programing tools to be installed).
You can ignore the radio thread and the "stock like" threads because the contents of those are now outdated with my rom being out.
Get 10+ post under your belt and you can reply to dev forum topics. I'm working on a 7.8 rom, but I won't be able to test it until my third Spark_W comes tomorrow and I transplant a digitizer into it. Maybe since I'm taking it apart I'll also upgrade the SD Card on that one too? (I don't want to flash my primary phone since it's too much of a pain to get reinstalled when I need it for an alarm clock.
Before you flash another rom though, I want to ask you a few things. Do you have Unlimited data via Verizon, and if not, what plan do you have? Also, is tethering working for you NOW before flashing my rom simply by doing the dun nai change? The dun nai change should only be necessary for Unlimited data users.
I'm using factory updates. All I know is that I have my phone updated as far as I can through Zune.
We just switched from AT&T to Verizon, due to the lack of any signal across the entire house. When we went into the store they had to have their manager bring the phone all the way from Kentucky. Anyways, they had just started to push the share everything plan, but the reps acted like they weren't comfortable with those plans yet. I have a 2gb a month, but I called verizon and they disabled the DUN for my phone (as I didn't want charged one of the wifi access fees) When I enabled the wifi after I called them I got a webpage showing I could re-enable it for the $30.
I tried to do the Interop_Unlock but that seemed to not work. But I might as well wait for your 7.8 then.

Yeah, Interop is a pain to do unless you are running Mango v1. You could factory downgrade to do it.. but its really a big pain.
I'm aiming to have 7.8 and international language roms out by Sunday, work is guna make it difficult. Are you able to use tethering with the dun nai changed though? I'm curious because other users with metered data plans were still having issues.
If you can't use tethering even with the dun nai changed, try deploying JerryJiang's Tethering unlocker for Verizon Trophy. If you still can't tether, I think I know a final adjustment that may need to be made, and you could be a helpful test subject since JerryJiang sent me his apps source code. After I get the details sorted, I can apply the fix directly into my rom without a need for an app (and create a rom package for others to cook into their roms).

That is the rom for flashing back to stock. You'll need the older rom in the HSPL thread to downgrade the bootloader. Get both roms and back them up if bandwidth is a problem.
So, I finally got to download the RUU_Spark_W_VERIZON_WWE_1.03.605.22_RS0512_2K_4K_hybrid_new_partition_RELEASE and I got it to flash the phone, but now when I try to flash using [ROM_SPARKW][TheXev]XevRev_Beta1a_8835 the phone gets stuck at 0%. I can follow the instructions shown on the program, but it seems to get stuck at the same place.
I can just unplug the phone and turn it back on and i can get calls in the meantime, but it seems I can't proceed.
I tried the dft rom aswell, but it shows the following:
Code:
[Error Description]:
Invalid ModelID. This means that your phone not supported.
This installer supports only limited number of the phones.
SPARK, MOZART, MONDRIAN, GOLD, SCHUBERT.
If you have phone from this list, but still have this error, please contact with DFT team.
[Info]: USBWorkRSPL.cpp (235)
[Error Description]:
ModelID is 'PC402000'. Please report this info to DFT.

You need to install HSPL before you can flash a custom rom. After downgrading the bootloader to 1.3, you can then install HSPL. Follow my guide here for complete instructions, step by step.
GOT IT!

I finally got it to work! Thanks for the help. I had to find the DFT_XSPL_WP7FG3 that I had downloaded a month ago. The DFT HSPL thread didn't seem to have the file anymore.... When I found that rar, it worked perfectly; I'm now running your 7.8 rom!
I'm still unsure how the WM Device Center actually works, but I'll have to take that up with ultrashot. It seems to work intermittently, I can browse all the files on the phone with the pc that I first set it up with, but all it seems to do on my other pc is just show "error" instead of "not connected."
Its probably because I was trying to do all this on Win8x86.

First start Zune, then WMDC will start working!

That did the trick. Been using it for a while now. THe only issues I've had has been with GPSKit Tether. MS Streets and Trips doesn't think that the data is NMEA 2.0 compatable, I can open terminal on the port being used, and it shows data. The only thing I would like to see in your build is the updated start icons. Also I can't seem to get the Nokia Counters installed. I got the files to copy from my ringtones to \Windows, but can't seem to get the provxml file to execute.
im on mango with bootloader 3.2.230 im trying to downgrade via RUU but the RUU wont see the device the drivers are installed cause zune sees it without issue my end goal with this is to get it on wp7.8 and unlocked to T-Mobile im a big android modder with an HTC One V so i know howw RUU's work seeing ive used them before its just this one is a little funky
what do i do?

The Zune driver is different from the HTC Diagnostic driver that is required to flash roms. If you read my guide stickied to this sub-forum, "[HOWTO] Use DFT HSPL with Verizon Trophy (SparkW only!)" that will show you EVERY step you need to get HSPL installed onto your phone to flash custom roms. This includes explaining what you need to do to install the diagnostic drivers. After HSPL is installed, you can flash any custom rom you want (for SparkW, do not attempt to flash Spark GSM roms to your phone!).
Fortunately, you indeed can downgrade the bootloader via RUU with SparkW... Spark users are not so lucky (they need GoldCard).
As far as unlocking the phone for T-Mobile, you'll be in for a huge disappointment as some have said that the phone will not post HSPA+ speeds on T-Mobile (as the radio and hardware don't support the bands). You'll need to pay an unlock service to security unlock the sim-card slot, but before starting in on all of this, you may want to ask yourself if its worth the effort for a phone that may get stuck in 2G.
Here is an older thread that I replied too on the issue. Here is another thread on unlocking the Verizon Trophy SIM Card slot.
Here is yet another thread on someone who tired to use the phone on StraightTalk and couldn't get above Edge speeds.
Will the diag drivers from my one v work? (Had attempted a PRL change ended miserablely)

Drivers shouldn't matter. As long as you follow this step to enable Windows to download drivers from Windows Update, you shouldn't need to worry at all as the OS will download them. It's much easier then manually tracking them down, and most Windows 7 installations have the feature disabled by default for some reason. If you do use this method, Windows will ask to install Windows Mobile Device Center.. which is fine since most roms (mine included) have software installed to allow WMDC to be used on WP7.
