What are the updates? Mine works fine now so unless it's something fantastic I don't want to fix what isn't broken.

That's a pretty handy feature. Running CM7 and had some issues with VVM already and now it's working properly finally. Anything I should know about installing this? Download, click, install?

Back up your VVM data with TB
Uninstall your current VVM, install this with Root Explorer or something similar, use TB to restore Data

That's right, I remember recovering my settings now via TB to get it working once I found the file. Do I really need to use Root Explorer or anything like that since it's an apk? Shouldn't I simply be able to locate the file once downloaded and launch/install it?

Yep. You can do it however you normally do. For me it's Root Explorer or adb

Seems to have worked flawlessly. I deleted a new voicemail and it says it was saved to my deleted folder. How do I access this? I didn't see an option from within VVM but that was before I actually deleted it. Will there be a new option there now or do I have to use a file browser to locate it?

Hit the upper voice mail tab while in the app and there you can delete or review the voice mail on the SD card.

Thanks! I'll check that out next time I get a VM.

I'm using YouMail currently with CM 7.1 stable and I'm frankly sick of YouMail. I've always enjoyed Sprint's VVM. Now that I see that you can save VM's to your SD makes it that much more to be desired.
I tried to load Sprint's VVM APK when I first flashed CM 7.1 but got those rogue 9016 MMS messages and it made me nuts. Hence the move to YouMail.
Let me see if I have this correct: flash back to Sense UI, use TB to back-up Sprint VVM + data. Flash back to CM and download the new APK. Open/run APK and then use TB to restore data?
Also, if this is done correctly, will those phantom 9016 messages no longer appear?

I still get those. I think I read somewhere about blacklisting that number (9016) but I'm too lazy to do it... lol

I read somewhere that if you text block 9016 to the number 9999 that it'll block it. I have no idea if that actually works or not.

Go get an app called spc from the market. Its very easy to setup to block the ghost text message.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk

Flash KushDecks AOSP 2.3.7 ROM, no 9016 message and when you install the new VVM app. It works like a charm..

Just know that if you block the 9016 text entirely then you may not get your voicemails in the app. Happened to me anyway.

Problem installing Visual Voicemail on [ROM]Fission Vanilla 1.2

Can anyone help me? I have Fission Vanilla 1.2 and am loving up but one thing it didn't include was Verizon's Visual Voicemail app.
I've tried downloading the apk from http://www.chadhaney.com/droidXDefault/ but when I click on the apk after downloading it it says "Application not installed" so I tried the moving it to the system/app folder like it said to do in this thread
http://androidforums.com/all-things-...r-droid-x.html
but after rebooting the phone it doesn't show up.
Anyone have any better ideas?
Thanks
Another interesting find.
I found another file called VVMStub.apk and that installed but as soon as I run it a pop up says "You phone comes with built in visual voice mail features. For the best experience, please uninstall this version of the application." and my only option is to uninstall it.
So obviously this phone thinks it has VVM on it but I can't get to it.
not to be a smart*** at all but why not get a free Google Voice account and set it up to handle your voicemail. you dont have to give out the number and it will be your voicemail for your DROID. you can then visual voicemail on your phone or computer, download the voicemails as a MP3 if you want, never worry about how may you have or time they are kept, and the best part is its free (and it works on Fission 1.2)
just a thought.
iDroidNow I hadn't looked at Voice since it was first sent to me years ago as a beta test. I didn't realize you could just do it for a cell instead of getting the whole number thing going. Just set it up so thanks for the suggestion. Will also save me a few bucks a month on VZW's limited capability VVM. So thanks for the suggestion!
Still weired I couldn't get VVM to install though

I tried this and it does get rid of that pop-up saying you already have VVM.
Please post all compatibility issues in the thread of the ROM that you installed in this case Fission 1.2 thread. With that said I am closing the thread.

[Q] PDU_LOG On SDCard?

Greets All,
Just wanted to see if anyone else has this, I noticed on my SDCard a folder called PDU_Log, curious I looked inside to find a bunch of files mostly named
sms_1.pdu
sms_2.pdu
sms_3.pdu
sms_4.pdu
Or
mms_1.pdu
mms_2.pdu
When opening it in wordpad its garbled, I am just wondering what is this folder, and is this like HTC sense in Windows Mobile for HD2 that kept a log of all the sms and mms in a folder?
I also have this. After deleting the folder and restarting my HD2, it is created again.
Okay so anyone want to take a stab at this as to if this is the SMS keeping a log? If not then why is it keep coming back?
I don't know why, but it's also on my Desire Z.
I am running the modaco Rom BTW.

So I changed my client from handsent to chomp and BONG: pdu_log-Folder gone and remains in hell after deleting. So it seems the handsent proggie ist the evil.
btw: if u open one of this log files with a text editor, u are able to read all ur sms, u sent an received: its a huge securety leak, grrr
Its not the case for me as I do not use handsent.

I don`t think its handcent :/ I`m not using it ... didn use it even once! And got this folder :/ Anybody got any more ideas what can creating it? :/
I got the same appearing and I just use the Sense SMS app.
Is anyone else using HTCSense.com?
I'm synching with (not really using) HTCSense.com on my Desire Z with SenseGinger 3.0, also Handcent.
Just noticed this folder a minute ago, it was not there during my SD backup 2 days ago.
Opening the files in Notepad clearly reveals the phone number and message content.
So far I have no idea where this comes from.
Let's find out
Update: rebooted the device, got an sms while shutting down, after reboot the folder was there again, but I didn't start any of the messaging apps myself.
Kind regards,
SubWorx
hay chaps ive been getting this i noticed was when i would install a fresh rom it wouldnt happen
when i logged into my google account i unticked backup and restored my back u with titanium backup
it would return
then i tryed again with siginin into google and doin a back up didnt apear then i signed into google and would appear so i found it was google but even wen i made a new account it would happen im so lost on wats goin on
I just noticed this folder this morning. I'm on an Evo with VirusROM GengerSense ReV B2. I use Handcent. I'm coming from CM7 and never noticed this before, so I'm guessing it has something to do with Sense.
If this is a function of Sense, and if it restores all my messages when I flash VirusROM B3 (which will do a full wipe), then I'm cool with it. I'm more than cool with it actually. Although this should be optional.
PDU_LOG folder
Same thing happened to me.
I'm running Android Revolution B4 and had signed up to HTC Sense just to check the extra's.
I took a backup and then removed the account and the folder and it has not come back since.
I'd noticed that Handcent started running a bit slower possibly cos it up always copying the texts onto the memory card. When I looked at the date/time of the PDU files, they were all copied over yesterday, even though that folder and the messages have been there for about a month.
Built-In Function
This is my take on this.
HTC Sense (2.3 and higher) automatically "backs up" your messages to the SD card. If you were to flash a 2.3 ROM that runs sense then flash another 2.3 ROM running sense, you should maintain your SMS/MMS.
Cool but unsecured. Wish they had implemented some type of security as anyone with some "smarts" can access your SMS/MMS history.

Sprint VVM fix for EVO Shift on CM7!

This is not mine. Credit for finding this fix goes to TonyArmstrong who posted this over in the EVO 4G General Forums found here How-To Reinstall Your Sprint Visual VM under CM7!!!
12/01/2011 **Updated. You can now move voicemails to your SD Card
download "update.Sprint_vvm.zip", and follow the steps below
This is for those that dont want to use Google Voice or YouMail
Finally!!! A solution that worked!!!
I DO NOT CLAIM CREDIT. I'M PROVIDING THIS FOR THE GOOD OF THE FORUM (Original post found here)
Download attached below
Extract the update.Sprint_vvm.zip to the root of the SD card.
Download & install Titanium Backup from the Market.
Launch Titanium Backup and make sure Sprint VVM is removed (if not, use Titanium Backup to remove it).
Install the Sprint VVM (/sdcard/com.coremobility.app.vnotes-2.apk).
Launch Titanium Backup, select Voicemail T.5.2.0.24, select Restore and select Data Only.
NOTE: There is App+Data but it doesn't work.
Launch the Sprint VVM and "Compose" a message to yourself. It will test send and receive functions of Sprint VVM.
Enjoy and report back to the XDA thread with your results.
NOTE: If the above steps do not work, try manually placing the contents of the folder (titaniumbackup) into the preexisting titanium backup folder, i.e. install the APK as instructed, but also extracting the three files within the contained folder into your titanium backup folder.
I can verify and confirm that Sprint VVM (SVVM) works under CM7 Nightly 12 with the stock kernel, using the above method.
NB: On receipt of new voicemail, a text from "9016" will be sent to your phone. I'm using the basic CM7 MMS app and haven't figured out how to stop these notification texts, but that's a minor annoyance to have SVVM back!

they said ok. but they can't stop em till the next billing cycle starts on 11/3.
You: cant stand this voicemail
You: i want regular and no 30 day trial text crap
Andy E.: Ok.
Andy E.: Thank you for the details.
Andy E.: Let me check that for you.
You: tell them i want voice voicemail nothing else
You: period
Agent: Yes, be assured after that it will never be transcribed to text after Nov 03, 2011.
Agent: That is the bill close date.
have you tried blocking 9016 from the sprint website? I'm trying it now and will return with the results tonight

This is what I do as well to stop the 9016 text since handcent doesn't do it. I think an app called redlist can block the notification and hide the message but the message is still getting through and will take up a slot in the message app, at least it did in handcent.
For anyone who doesn't know how just download the shift-deck rom and use your phones file browser to browse though the zip file for the mms.apk or if you download it to your computer just browse through the zip and look for the mms.apk. Take it out of the zip (extract it) and put that onto your phone's sd card and install it like any other non-market app you would install.

If/when that doesn't work here are the steps that will work...
Put the shift deck messaging.apk onto your sdcard.
Using root explorer delete stock messaging app and move shift deck messaging app from sd to system/app.
After file is moved, long press messaging.apk and set permissions to r,w/r/r.
After permissions are succesfully changed reboot... and all should be well...

[Q] Messaging app super sluggish recently

Hey all, so just recently my messaging app is really slow all of a sudden, like it takes 4 seconds to load the conversations, when I go to reply to a message, it takes 4 seconds to actually pull up the keyboard, and allow text input. I message a lot, so this is extremely annoying cuz I have to wait forever to send one stupid message >.< does anyone know what's wrong or how I could fix this?
Thanks!
Stock messaging app? I know I let my messages build up like without the auto delete on and eventually my messaging app just froze up until I clicked auto delete so it could be due to a lot of messages hope you get it figured it out and this helps a little !

When the program loads it had to load all those messages into memory. You need to get rid of some. Just go back and delete some by hand.

Isee, so the only way to make it faster is by deleting messages? :/ what if I clear the cache? Shouldn't that make it faster, cuz then it won't load the older messages (cuz there's no need to)? And does clear data delete all the messages?

I honestly don't know because I let my messages get deleted every time I flash a ROM. I would assume clearing the data would delete the messages. If you absolutely MUST hang on to your messages, why not make a backup of them, then go through and delete some or all of the ones in the app? If you need them back, restore the backup.

Verizon Visual Voicemail?

I asked in the LeeDroid thread, then realized its probably better asked here instead.
Anyone have a working APK for the Verizon Visual Voicemail app for the HTC10? Once I flash a custom ROM such as LeeDroid (and, I assume any other custom ROM?) there's no longer any app for VVM.
In fact, as far as I can tell, there is no voicemail app at all; so anytime someone leaves me a VM, I'm not getting notified about it. The only way for me to check VM's is manually press 1 each time on the dialer.

That is my point: you won't any longer get playable messages stored in your M9 as before. You will have to dial *86.

What's going away is the $2.99 option.
Look under "Basic Visual Voice Mail (Included)"
App and *86
Again, read the link you posted. The first line:
On 7/8/2016, the $2.99 Visual Voice Mail service will be discontinued. Some older smartphones and basic phones that support it won't be able to use the service.
This is only impacting some older smartphones and basic phones.
The HTC 10 is newer and a smartphone, and is therefore unaffected because it qualifies for the free basic VVM.
I have the voicemail app n my viper rom here but it takes the 2.99 premium upgrade.
Is the new message+ app what your looking for? I think that had the VVM also. I had it saved somewhere but for the life of me I cant find it now. ill pull it later cause I'm going to back to stock to test something out.

The Voicemail app and Message+ are two different things.
The Voicemail app defaults you to a free trial of the $2.99 premium VVM, but you can downgrade straight away to the free VVM service from the menu.
The Message+ app can be downloaded from the Play Store (search for Verizon Messages).

Is it set up like the m9 where the messages app has 3 tabs sms, mms, and voicemail because when I tap voicemail it takes me to my text messages with no voicemails after I installed those apks. That's is the messages apk from the Verizon version right? I think there is something else probably missing to make it work properly.

I tried downloading and installing the .APK file referenced in this thread. That seems to work somewhat, but when I launch the app I just get a message that says "Connecting to Visual Voicemail...", and then nothing happens. I wind up having to back out of the app.
Any ideas? Thanks!
