Replaced streak screen: small issue - Streak 5 General

So i picked up a streak with a broken screen, with the idea of replacing it. So i replaced it and it all went well, but after a couple of hours use (what an amazing device!) The camera and power button wouldnt press. So i took it apart and reajusted the buttons, but they still wouldnt press, also the body doesnt sit tight when the buttons are in...Anyone knows what to do? Thanks!

I had the same problem when I replaced my screen, come to find out, the buttons were facing the wrong direction in the outer case. I'm pretty sure you've tried this, but just sharing what happened to me..

Anyone got a dead HD? I need the volume button :(

I'm sceptical that I'll get a response, but here goes nothing!
I don't know how where or when, but I lost my volume control button.
Does anyone have a dead HD that can sell the volume up/down button?
Thanks for reading
can't help you but curious as to how you lost it?
Maybe a dummy phone of the HD can be found on eBay with hope that the part is a exact replica. I was holding the Diamond dummy phone and the buttons seemed like the real thing.
Do you mean the thing that part of the back cover? I think looking for the back cover itself could be cheaper .
Hi
It's not part of the back cover, it's actually the volume up/down button.
I tried the dummy phones, but they just have a moulding
I spoke to HTC and they will only repair if I send in ($$$) and the don't just sell the button.
I suspect it fell by being squeezed somehow and flicking out.
grrrr

oh no, it seems you're right after all. I checked my other backcover, and there it was. I didn't loose it at all, it's just that I never moved it to my new cover.
cheers man!!
LOL!
Why'd you get a new cover? Was it, by chance, an attempt to get rid of the creaking sounds every time you handled the phone or used the touch screen? Did it work?
nope, it was because I scratched it!

Help! I am too deep!(replacing digitizer fail)

Hey all
So i have replaced LG and iphone screens many times before. Never a HTC. I have replaced the glass and everything(reheated the adhesive that was previous there) and put it back together. The screen is a bit loose but shouldn't fall out as i didn't damage much of the glue. I was thinking wow this was a piece of cake!
BUT.. The front buttons(Home, Options, back, and search) appear to be stuck down(i think). When you try to press them they feel just solid and not a button. I can sometimes get the home button to press like a button but its definitely broke as can be.
Also when i boot up it appears the phone is stuck in a white screen showing some options...cant remember excatly what but i know it tells you to use volume buttons to move and the power button to select(assumed bootloader). I have no movement when i try any button combo. Also it seems when i stick the battery in and boot it goes straight into that no matter what i do.
Any help would be great! I really need it as its the GF's phone and she gets back in 3 hours
I think what is happening to the bottom buttons is that the glass is just a hair to large. Like a micron off causing the buttons to be bust down to the base(towards the mic). Not sure how to fix it except sending it back for a new one....Anyone have this issue? i got it from repair universe.

Power button not functional

Hey guys, I was just using my phone today like a normal day, and my phone's power button just stopped working. I doubt its software, so is there anything I can do to fix this? Any guides in particular?
edit: the button has randomly started working again after I pushed it in a bit without opening anything, but I suspect theres dirt accumulating in there or something and just making it hard to work. I'd still like to know if theres a way i can get the power button out, clean it with a q-tip or what not and get it back in all safely.
Sorry to hear that, bro. Judging from this Vibrant tear-down thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24155781, it looks like the power button is accessible after taking off the main back cover ... but I can't really tell from the 2nd photo (looking at it from my phone / Tapatalk right now, and the zoomed resolution is not very good).
Hope you get it figured out, or maybe (in the meantime) use a power button widget / shortcut?
( not to make light of the circumstance ... but maybe make sure you're using the right "towels" when you wipe down your phone. Its always easy to blame dougie's special red apk. )
Hey xriderx, it is pretty easy to replace the power button ribbon. Just dont tear the pad off the board like I did. I found the ribbon online for about $10. What you are describing is exactly what my power button did before going out completely.

How can you detach the power button ribbon and replace the by the new one? do you have to solder or anything ?
Yes it will require some soldering. Maybe some desoldering tape to remove the old ribbon/solder as well.

[Q] Strange screen Problem HD2

Hi guys, first post. So heres the problem. My HD2 screen is not glued properly to the base of the phone and it has a little space between them at the bottom right corner ( next to the Power button), whenever i press the screen to close the gap the phone freezes, and i have to remove the batery. It is getting really annoying couse i cant even put the damn thing in my pocket without it freezing. The hardware keys dont even work i just have to restart it. So my question is does any1 know of this problem and can he/she offer a way out?
Sorry for my english. thanks in advance
Sounds like it been opened before & had not the best assembly.
Would imagine hardware button ribbon is torn or pulled out of socket hence no buttons.
freezing issue could be down to issue with digitizer ribbon or button ribbon or worse ?
Do you have any issues with screen touch & do you know full history of the handset.
If black Void sticker is missing from case screw near battery pins then you know it been opened & most repairs including so called specialists are poor from ones I've seen.
I know this is the last thing you want to hear but if it were my device I'd take it apart and redo the assembly myself. Theres plenty of how-to videos with detailed steps. Hope this helps.

Sticky home button

Just today my home button started getting sticky. it clicks two times instead of one. Has anyone experiwnced similar issues with their s4?

Maybe it got dirty with something sticky you held before using the phone Try cleaning it and see if it still happens.
Mine has gone sticky as well. It only registers one click, but it needs more force to push in, and it gives with an audible clicky noise. It also feels slow in the 'release'. Considering getting it fixed.
started happening to me yesterday (14 days of use), and the home button is also sticky, but only on the left side. if I press the button in the center or on the right side, the click is normal. pressing on left side I can feel 2 levels on the click.
any way to fix this? feels like broken.
Nobody?
Mine started to get sticky too. I think it has something to do with the microUSB port. Try inserting the microUSB cable and shifting the port up and down.
Sticking Home Button
i have this issue as well, sent mine to service center, hope they fix it or replace the unit.
I think it is a design issue, we users might have pressed it harder than usual, which tear up something that holds the home button (Since it is elongated) on both ends. and if you notice, it is no longer protruding (a litttle), it is aligned with the screen.
I think in the long run, more users will report this issue, i had mine for only just 2 weeks, variant GT-9505 black
By any chance any of you have installed pxxxtube? LMFAO
Sticky Button = Replaced screen
hi guys,
sent mine into Samsung Service center, and although i complain of a wobbly home button, they have replace the LCD, since according them the two are connected.
I had the same issue and was able to fix it by doing the following. Put a small amount of water on your fingertip and rub the home button and surrounding areas with it (you may want to do this with phone off). Use the corner of a piece of paper and go around the home button, in between the gap. This soaks up the excess water and cleans the gap. I think what happens is that we get something sticky in there, like juice or soda.

Thanks, I actually fixed mine
Using onscreen buttons, launcher with gestures and alternative apps available on playstore really helps not to stress home buttons.
Samsung should remove this physical home button on next galaxy series.
