I have tried everything under the sun to upgrade my T-Mob PPPC/PE with Yorch's T-Mobile unofficial Upgrade to WM2003. I can't get it to work. Tried: loading ROM to SD card and soft reset, using XDATools OSImagetool, etc... :x
I believe it is tough for any one to advice if you don't state what exactly you did and what error messages you got .....
Are you trying bootloader method. or other method. Please present more detail regarding your problem including current rom/radio etc and things that you have tried already.
Sorry. First, loaded the file, NK.NBF onto my SD card using OSImagetool.exe. Then per instructions that were given to me, did a soft boot on the device. It simply rebooted and after it came up, there was a message on the screen asking my if I wanted to format the SD card for use with the device and telling me that if I hit "yes", the card would be erased and all data lost on the card.
The next thing I tried was to use OSImagetool.exe directly. Source- nk.nbf (on my desktop) and Destination: Device memory (via Programme A). The error I got was "Programme A not found - run with "--register" error opening target device.
I even tried to run OSImagetool.exe from the command prompt using --register as an argument and got the same exact error.
Then, I loaded the NK.NBF file to the SD card then ran OSImagetool with source: SD card, destination: Device memory. Then got the same error: "Programme A not found - run with "--register" error opening target device."
Hope that helps.
i dont know the program OSImagetool
but when i updated my xda to 2003 i used xdatools to transfer the rom to the sdcard and then i DIDENT! softreset but went into the bootloader and it started to update

They are the same program OSImagetool is just the name of the .exe file.
@jhug whats your bootloader version? Sounds like it might be 5.17 or newer!
HTH
When the xda asked you if you wanted to format the sd card you should answer no, it means the rom has in fact been written to the card, you then need to enter bootloader mode, a soft reset is no good, just push the stylus in the reset hole while holding down the power button, it will then ask you to push the action button which is the centre of the 4 way pad, your rom will then be programmed, make sure the battery is charged also. When the process is complete, unscrew your stylus, then insert the top half of the stylus in the hole on the bottom right of your xda, just push once, after one minute push again, this turns the battery off, then on again, you should then have a working system.
my bootloader is 5.22 btw
I wanted to check and see if the ROM was in fact on the SD card, so I did a soft reset and the notification came up and asked me if I wanted to format the SD card. I clicked no and assumed the nk.nbf file was on the card. I then did a soft reset while pressing the power button and went into bootloader mode. It did not ask me to push the action button, so I did anyways and it went into diagnostics mode. Ideas???
I'll try reloading the ROM on the SD card and try it again. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for your help! BTW, bootloader version is 5.15.

Consider yourself luck if you haven't had any problems upgrading
using the SD card boot loader method then!
Also most of the RS upgrade failures that I seen / fixed and tried to fix had boot loader 5.17 or higher, so keep that in mind. Lucky, Lucky you!

Please do!
Also whats the size and make of your SD card?
Well, I tried it again and the same thing happened. It went into bootloader mode and did not ask me if I wanted to install the new OS. I tried pressing the volume button and it said to connect the USB cable. I also pressed the contacts button and it went into Diagnostic mode. Aaaaaarrrrrgh!
BTW, it's a 256MB Sandisk card. (Great for holding about 200 songs! )

Some how I knew you where going to say a "256MB Sandisk"!
For some unknown reason had the same problem using the same card,
if you can try using a 64MB or a 128MB card and see what happens.
HTH
It finally worked! I loaded the ROM to the 256mb Sandisk SD card while in the unit, removed the SD card, inserted the SD card, then did a warm boot while pressing the power button and the ROM image loaded! I did the usual battery cutoff and then rebooted it and it works fine. Thanks everyone who gave me advice with this.
Where there is a well there is a way, great job!
But how in the hell did you figure that one though?
I decided to get creative. Dangerous when you're working in Wallaby, but it worked!
Every time I try to install the Yuki/XBmod v2 ROM, I keep getting this damn error on the phone when it boots:
There's a storage error.
Your storage card seems to have changed-we need you to use the card that came with your phone.
Please turn off your phone and then make sure that the card is properly inserted in its slot.
I have followed the instructions countless times, formatted my SD card many times, and I keep getting that error.
It works when I don't have the SD card in the phone.
Can someone please help me with this error and tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks! I would really, REALLY appreciate the help!

Yes. I have done that as well and still gives me that storage error.
Could it be the SD card that I am using? Or am I doing something wrong?
I really want to get Mango so bad!
what OS are you at now (settings/about/ os version)?
did you prepare card?
-Enable 24MB extra memory in Magldr services
-Delete MBR of SDcard in Magldr services
if you done this and card not work, try this:
boot without sdcard... make hard reset (settings - about - reset)
upgrade with zune to 7392
make hard reset again (settings - about - reset)
insert card, boot and upgrade to mango...

Right now, I am on 7.7004.
I can only use the WP7 ROM without SD card. The ROM does not want to take my SD card because of that "storage error"
I don't understand why?

maybe this not solve compatibility but if not solve, then you know to must buy new card...

I updated to 7008 from Zune but Zune doesn't detect anymore updates from this point on. Zune is supposed to find the 7392 update but it just tells me that my phone software is already up to date. Why is that?

try force update.... when you hit update after 2-5 seconds terminate internet connection... this maybe you must do few times before update shown
I get this error two, and I've also dual booted WP7/Android in the past then went back to NAND/CLK Android and now want to try WP7,5/Android again but now it doesn't work. I keep getting that error. So I know the sdcards work (8GB Kingston C4)
Hi All,
This is with reference to all those who have been reporting SD Card not being detected after multiple WP7 trials on their HD2.
As mentioned in the list of phones supported (That detect the card, ) Nokia are the best as per my trials.
I too tried sandisk class4 8GB and Sandisk Classs 2 8GB for WP7.
Both times when I was trying to move forward towards 7720, either the update failed or communcation got disrupted making my phone go to recovery console.
Here are the stpes to recover the card whatever happens.
Note: Nokia 5233 (Mobile I used to recover my card) Provides hotswap support for microsd card

1. For safer operation, select Storage memory and click remove card (In 5233 Menu)
2. Remove existing card, and insert the WP7 Bricked SDCard
3. It will show 'Type password to Unlock the card'
4. Cancel that and go to File Explorer and select the card and say Open.
5. After it opens, From the options menu, select 'Card Options>Format Card', Dont select unlock or anything, its not required.
6. If its Class 2 card it will take around 40 seconds to format (8GB).
7. If its Class 4 card it will take around 8 seconds to format (8GB).
Now close file explorer, and open file explorer again to check the card size.
Click Remove card and remove the card.
No need of partition manager,Linux, zero fill formatting, killdisk etc which is real headache.
All it needs is a Friend (Who has Nokia mobile that supports microsdcard).
They can also be rescued usin the devstorage_lock.cab run it from inside WP7 before hard resetting or powering down and you'll be able to use the SD card elsewhere and reformat it.
I'm sorry but I think it depends on the cards.
I have a Sandisk 32Gb Class 4 (and for being faster than my real Sandisk 8Gb Class 4, I confirm it's not a fake, it is an original Sandisk).
I tried everything (KillDisk (on Windows & Linux), Formatter, WinMo6.5, WP7, Nokia E63, Nokia E71, N8...various partition tools. All PC softwares have been tested with both SD adapater and USB adaptater.
Nothing can repair my card.
Concerning the StorageCardunlock.cab, the card enable to start WP7 Mango, but when you go to About, there is no more memory than the internal one, that's meen that when you try to install StoragecardUnlock.cab, the CabSender says "Not enough memory' or something like that...
So I think, by reading all what we can read on XDA: 2, 4 and 8 Gb seem to be reparable, which is more difficult with bigger capacity
With bricked SD card in device:
1. Turn the device on
2. Wait for Magldr screen to boot WPH
3. When 12345 GO! GO! GO! starts appearing, press and hold vol up/down until grey screen comes up. Press vol down twice to initiate a hard reset.
4. WP7 will reset and capture the SD card in the process. Confirm this in Settings > About
5. If devstorage_lock is not installed... install it now and run it.
6. Initiate a hard reset from Settings > About
7. If your device is set to automatically boot into WP7, then press and hold the power button when the first splash screen appears - to stay in Magldr. From here, WP7 still thinks it's resetting and will capture the next SD card inserted. Or, you can flash the device with a different ROM. If you're going back to stock, then power down and enter the tri-color screen. If you're going android, then use the USB flasher option.
The ONLY thing that will keep you from unlocking the SD card is if WP7 has already captured it and won't refuses to let you boot again. Even then, reflashing WP7 should solve that problem.
Thank you Anselo,
I've saved your post in my bookmarks. This will certainly come in handy when I recover my 8 GB kingston later on.
On a side note, Mango on the HD2 is awesome. So much more fluid than Android ever was!
Cheers.

You're very welcome. I thought that I had bricked a brand new 16GB c2 SD card until I reflashed over. Oh, but that was so time consuming. Then, I was taught about the 1234 hard reset. Total life saver. I bricked my 2 cards so many times while trying to partition for dual boot. This fix got me through every time.

I'm sorry, I've got a Class 4 Sandisk 32Gb, I've just tried it, the problem still remains. The card enables the smartphone to run, but when I go to About, I've got:
"Total storage: 52.84 MB
Available storage: 32.21 MB"
The StorageLock tells me:
"The storage card is currently unlocked. Do you want to lock it?"
It's strange, normally it is the opposite the first time. Nevermind, I click "Yes" and the device tells me "Failed toggling card lock"
I i initiate a hard reste from About, nothing changes, I still have the same memory.
Maybe I have a special brick, hoping somebody find a day a solution.
And can you ser the card on your computer? I've read in another thread that people have had problems with the SanDisk 16c4. WP7 is so picky.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
In fact, The computer cannot see the card.
But all the softwares can see it quicky when you remove it from computer...
How about booting into Ubuntu to see it?
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Is it the solution with the CD with KillDisk? If yes, cannot find the card.
If it isn't that, can you explain?

It looks like your storage app is fuggled.
try sending storagelock_remove.cab then send storagelock.cab
Also what size partition have you got?
In fact I realized WP7 could restart with this card only if I put it in the smartphone while this one is already swithed on. Otherwise, after a hard reset, if I put the card when the phone is switched off, the phone stay blocked on boot sreen, even after many hard resets & wasting waiting time
Skyjouby, what size partition have you got?
It is an original Sandisk 32Gb Class 4.
I tried all solutions without results. At the opposite, I have another orginal Sandisk (8Gb Class 4) and I could revive it a lot of time.
Do I well reply to your question?
Edit: After a couple of hard-Reset with the 32Gb where everytime the bootscreen was blocked, I try again with my 8Gb without any trouble, in exception of a problem with French language (possible to select, but finally english).
I've just recovered 7720 from 6.5, but I have my 32Gb still bricked.
Edit 2: Before I bricked my 32Gb, it had 2 partitions: the WP7 one was created with DEV_EXTRAPART_20G.cab. The rest was used with Android. It runs perfectly one month.

Thanks.
I can only think to do the following;
Put in your 8gb card and send 1Gb extrapart, storage unlock, switch off and put in 32Gb card. In Magldr delete MBR then 1234hard reset.
If this doesn't work, it may be that bad blocks have appeared at a crucial part of the sd

To fix this, turn off your phone and either remove the storage card or replace it with a new compliant card. Then you'll need to reset your phone to the originl factory settings.

That's the point are you sure you know how to hard reset your device?
You need to press down, volume up & down at the same time after booting from magldr and not before booting from magldr.
Thanks again Anseio.
This worked in returning my Kingston card back to normal. After unlocking, it showed about 200mb of space on my PC. I just plopped it into a camera and formatted the card and it's now showing 7.41 GB free for an 8GB SD card. Huzzah!
Testing it now on my 32GB Sandisk C4 before I start using WP7. =
Cheers.
