[REF] Solution For SD Card Not Detected in PC Issues - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hi All,
This is with reference to all those who have been reporting SD Card not being detected after multiple WP7 trials on their HD2.
As mentioned in the list of phones supported (That detect the card, ) Nokia are the best as per my trials.
I too tried sandisk class4 8GB and Sandisk Classs 2 8GB for WP7.
Both times when I was trying to move forward towards 7720, either the update failed or communcation got disrupted making my phone go to recovery console.
Here are the stpes to recover the card whatever happens.
Note: Nokia 5233 (Mobile I used to recover my card) Provides hotswap support for microsd card

1. For safer operation, select Storage memory and click remove card (In 5233 Menu)
2. Remove existing card, and insert the WP7 Bricked SDCard
3. It will show 'Type password to Unlock the card'
4. Cancel that and go to File Explorer and select the card and say Open.
5. After it opens, From the options menu, select 'Card Options>Format Card', Dont select unlock or anything, its not required.
6. If its Class 2 card it will take around 40 seconds to format (8GB).
7. If its Class 4 card it will take around 8 seconds to format (8GB).
Now close file explorer, and open file explorer again to check the card size.
Click Remove card and remove the card.
No need of partition manager,Linux, zero fill formatting, killdisk etc which is real headache.
All it needs is a Friend (Who has Nokia mobile that supports microsdcard).

They can also be rescued usin the devstorage_lock.cab run it from inside WP7 before hard resetting or powering down and you'll be able to use the SD card elsewhere and reformat it.

I'm sorry but I think it depends on the cards.
I have a Sandisk 32Gb Class 4 (and for being faster than my real Sandisk 8Gb Class 4, I confirm it's not a fake, it is an original Sandisk).
I tried everything (KillDisk (on Windows & Linux), Formatter, WinMo6.5, WP7, Nokia E63, Nokia E71, N8...various partition tools. All PC softwares have been tested with both SD adapater and USB adaptater.
Nothing can repair my card.
Concerning the StorageCardunlock.cab, the card enable to start WP7 Mango, but when you go to About, there is no more memory than the internal one, that's meen that when you try to install StoragecardUnlock.cab, the CabSender says "Not enough memory' or something like that...
So I think, by reading all what we can read on XDA: 2, 4 and 8 Gb seem to be reparable, which is more difficult with bigger capacity

With bricked SD card in device:
1. Turn the device on
2. Wait for Magldr screen to boot WPH
3. When 12345 GO! GO! GO! starts appearing, press and hold vol up/down until grey screen comes up. Press vol down twice to initiate a hard reset.
4. WP7 will reset and capture the SD card in the process. Confirm this in Settings > About
5. If devstorage_lock is not installed... install it now and run it.
6. Initiate a hard reset from Settings > About
7. If your device is set to automatically boot into WP7, then press and hold the power button when the first splash screen appears - to stay in Magldr. From here, WP7 still thinks it's resetting and will capture the next SD card inserted. Or, you can flash the device with a different ROM. If you're going back to stock, then power down and enter the tri-color screen. If you're going android, then use the USB flasher option.
The ONLY thing that will keep you from unlocking the SD card is if WP7 has already captured it and won't refuses to let you boot again. Even then, reflashing WP7 should solve that problem.

Thank you Anselo,
I've saved your post in my bookmarks. This will certainly come in handy when I recover my 8 GB kingston later on.
On a side note, Mango on the HD2 is awesome. So much more fluid than Android ever was!
Cheers.

You're very welcome. I thought that I had bricked a brand new 16GB c2 SD card until I reflashed over. Oh, but that was so time consuming. Then, I was taught about the 1234 hard reset. Total life saver. I bricked my 2 cards so many times while trying to partition for dual boot. This fix got me through every time.

I'm sorry, I've got a Class 4 Sandisk 32Gb, I've just tried it, the problem still remains. The card enables the smartphone to run, but when I go to About, I've got:
"Total storage: 52.84 MB
Available storage: 32.21 MB"
The StorageLock tells me:
"The storage card is currently unlocked. Do you want to lock it?"
It's strange, normally it is the opposite the first time. Nevermind, I click "Yes" and the device tells me "Failed toggling card lock"
I i initiate a hard reste from About, nothing changes, I still have the same memory.
Maybe I have a special brick, hoping somebody find a day a solution.

And can you ser the card on your computer? I've read in another thread that people have had problems with the SanDisk 16c4. WP7 is so picky.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

In fact, The computer cannot see the card.
But all the softwares can see it quicky when you remove it from computer...

How about booting into Ubuntu to see it?
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

Is it the solution with the CD with KillDisk? If yes, cannot find the card.
If it isn't that, can you explain?

It looks like your storage app is fuggled.
try sending storagelock_remove.cab then send storagelock.cab
Also what size partition have you got?

In fact I realized WP7 could restart with this card only if I put it in the smartphone while this one is already swithed on. Otherwise, after a hard reset, if I put the card when the phone is switched off, the phone stay blocked on boot sreen, even after many hard resets & wasting waiting time

Skyjouby, what size partition have you got?

It is an original Sandisk 32Gb Class 4.
I tried all solutions without results. At the opposite, I have another orginal Sandisk (8Gb Class 4) and I could revive it a lot of time.
Do I well reply to your question?
Edit: After a couple of hard-Reset with the 32Gb where everytime the bootscreen was blocked, I try again with my 8Gb without any trouble, in exception of a problem with French language (possible to select, but finally english).
I've just recovered 7720 from 6.5, but I have my 32Gb still bricked.
Edit 2: Before I bricked my 32Gb, it had 2 partitions: the WP7 one was created with DEV_EXTRAPART_20G.cab. The rest was used with Android. It runs perfectly one month.

Thanks.
I can only think to do the following;
Put in your 8gb card and send 1Gb extrapart, storage unlock, switch off and put in 32Gb card. In Magldr delete MBR then 1234hard reset.
If this doesn't work, it may be that bad blocks have appeared at a crucial part of the sd

After a while:
"Storage card not working
Your storage card has changed, is damaged, o is non-compliant.
To fix this, turn off your phone and either remove the storage card or replace it with a new compliant card. Then you'll need to reset your phone to the originl factory settings.
To reset your phone, refer to the owner's manual."
So I think, we can conclude the SD is dead

That's the point are you sure you know how to hard reset your device?
You need to press down, volume up & down at the same time after booting from magldr and not before booting from magldr.

Thanks again Anseio.
This worked in returning my Kingston card back to normal. After unlocking, it showed about 200mb of space on my PC. I just plopped it into a camera and formatted the card and it's now showing 7.41 GB free for an 8GB SD card. Huzzah!
Testing it now on my 32GB Sandisk C4 before I start using WP7. =
Cheers.

Hi. New here. Done this magldr 1.12 and leo70 rom but my phone playing up badly after a lot of droid and 6 and other flashes. I can't install hardly any rom any more without it - ie: stock, wm6, android, wp7 rebooting constantly for no reason etc.
Done mtty and have bad blocks - about 16 and 16 reversed. done task 28 and task 28 55aa, and task 29 as read in other threads. tried everything with different radios, different nand droid. multiple wp7-hd2 installs. but still reboots.
Any thoughts? If go back to stock+spl1.66 and send back under warranty anyone know/think if they will fix it and/or replace it? they still have old sealed replacement hd2 stock or boards much? do they do diagnostics and look at bad blocks properly on warranty return? Even on stock-rom and stock-spl still does this reboot although not as much. Worried that stock-rom wm6 will "work" too well and they won't check blocks. What about task2a? etc? Any way to install wp7/magldr and partition right so no bad blocks counted in?
Thanks very much.

They will replace just flash stock rom and downgrade back to spl by using the hspl flasher, just select the spl. Call tech support and tell them it keeps rebooting and you reflashed stock rom 5 times. They will send you another hd2 and you'll be back in business.

Step by Step
First I am assuming you are an T-Mobile USA HD2 user.
Disclaimer: THIS WILL RESET YOUR HD2 DEVICE TO STOCK. NO HSPL
If not correct me.
1. www.tmobile.com/wmupgrade (Download the official rom from T-Mobile USA)
2. Once you have downloaded the file, extract the exe using 7z or WinRar. ( Right click on the file and click on Extract to ....) Downlaod Link Attached.
3. Reaname the Ruu_signed.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh
4. Copy the LEOIMG.nbh to your micro sd card, put the file in the root directory. (If the phone sits at the bootloader screen, try a smaller size sd card ex. 2GB)
5. With the phone off , hold the Volume Down while turning the phone on. Once you see the Bootloader sceen you can stop holding the buttons. ( Usually it will recognize there is a Flashable Image on the card, If not try again only this time let go when you see a Loading Message .........)
6. The phone will then prompt you to press Press power or some other button to flash.
7. Once your phone restarts go through the prompts if you want to click finish.
8. Put your device back in Bootloader Mode and Download HSPL3 (Attached Below) Next Put your device back in Bootloader Mode and Flash Magldr 1.12 & Windows Phone 7 ( Sure you know these steps, If not readme file included in the file)
9. Make sure the SD card you plan to use is in the device before you flash Magldr and Windows Phone 7. (Most are claiming a 16gb Sandsik Class 2 is working fine)
10. If you having restarts still, post what micro sd card you are using.
11. The problem lies with the Micro SD if you continue to have issues. ( Commong Windows Phone 7 issue)

tried all this, but to no avail. (on a europe htc hd2 512. 2.14.50.04 576 enabled. didnt do exactly as you stated but i did do the hd2 eur. equivalent of the steps) tried 2 microsd cards, the standard 2gb sd card that was in my phone package and a new Integral 8gb class 4 micro sdhc card. as soon as wp7 is flashed the phone reboots, magldr goes into 123456 gogogo! mode and shows dft splash screen. next, screen goes black and phone reboots. phone only loads wp7 1 out of 50 tries (avarage, went through the whole process of flashing, formatting, reflashing, etc. 6 times now) and suffers from random reboots (in sleep mode).
if you want to know how i flash leo70:
either from custom wm6.5 rom or stock wm6.5 rom:
boot in hspl2.08
run task29
flash magldr1.12
usb flasher mode
dwi.exe
>reboot<
magldr > 123456 gogogo!
dft splash screen
screen goes black
htc logo > magldr1.12 > 123456 gogogo!
and again and again until i get lucky and wp7 boots. i go through all settings, phone chevrons easily, phone installs everything easily.
phone battery goes empty/phone random reboots. and goes back into bootloop. when phone finally boots back into wp7 i might either have lost all settings (like a HR) or the phone has actually rebooted correctly and i can continue until the next random reboot. yay me.
any options? is it the microsd card? is it the flashing process? is it anything else i am missing? if it's the microsd card, i am getting an 8gb class 10 sandisk by wednesday so i can then try again. thanks in advance, i really like wp7 so i would love to be able to use it on my hd2.
SD Card
Backup your information.
Format the sd card using windows.

Let me know if this helps.
This happened to me... I am on T-Mo US... i tried everyhting... all roms... hspl... stock... android... bla bla bla... but nothing worked...
and they replaced the phone for me... its your CUP i think... mine was doing it everytime i would turn on GPS or a location based service... If its been less then a year since you bought the phone it should be a free replacement... well for me it was... and if you have insurance... i dont know how its in EU...
My phone keep restarting all the time ....before i flashed new roms and didnt work. Then i took my battery out my phone and put it back and realized that the little hinges on the right side of the sim card was bended and face out so i pushed it back and place the battery correct and phone works perfect make sure you didn't bend the little golden hinges where you set your batter at
phone in wm6.5 (custom rom dutty's ml v12 dutch) > usb mass storage mode
format drive H: (8gb integral microsdhc card) standard settings. fat32 quick format. successful
task 29
successful
magldr1.12
successful
boot into magldr1.12
option 5: USB flasher
LEO70 dfi.exe
successful
reboot into magldr
12456 gogogo!
dft splash screen
screen goes black and phone goes into bootloop. wp7 boots after 6 retries
just in case this time the bootloop is an anomaly i change some settings in wp7 and reboot
once again bootloop. stop after 10 retries without getting into wp7. reverting to wm6.5 and keep searching for fix.
note: during full process 8gb microSD card was plugged into phone.
note2: phone did see 7.23gb of free storage space in settings>about
sadly this too did not work. figure it has to be the micro sd card?
edit: @nemo0405 do not have insurance, phone has always worked properly on wm6.5 never had random reboots nor did it have bootloops. phone was bought december 5th of 2009.
@that nicca it's not a power issue. in wm6.5 i do not have any problem with random reboots or bootloops.
edit2: have yet to try 2.15 radio in stead of my current 2.14. trying now.
result: sadly no changes in bootloop.
^^^ try it bend the 1 golden hing and sit the battery on it where it dont touch and put your phone on you gonna see your phone restarting every min .....i had that problem try it see if it works
Try to charge your phone straight 24hrs.that fixes the issue for me.

Go back and put the original stock rom back in, Then start again. You only need a 2gb micro SD. Dont know why everbody is using 16g? Its only used at booting in the Leo70 ROM. Use HSPL2 and change 2.08 to HSPL 2.08. Now put in the radio. I used 2.15.50.14. Now while still in bootloader mode, put in mgldr, and then when you see the menu, tab down to 5 and enter. once you have the gogogo and then Usb..Usb now flash in LEO70 rom. Now do you still have the loopy booty? If so, remove battery and re-insert. Looping stopped? If so go and set up the phone. If still loopy, remove battery again, now take out the sd card, put batt back in. Loopy stopped? If so set up phone. and if it sets up fully, then shut it down and put sd back in. If it goes loopy, then its the sd card. Make sure sd is formatted (FAT) before hand.
Let me know

After a task 29, flash first MAGLDR 1.11 then 1.12 ...or flash directly a stock rom. I remind that i read somewhere that MAGLDR 1.12 is an update of 1.11.
Remember too, that some sd cards seem to be incompatible with WP7. I have used a 16gb Kingston class 4 micro sd and an Adata 32gb class 2 sd card. These both seem to work. Check the thread about sd card compatibility, you might find your answers there.
Cheers...
If you phone keeps restarting AFTER you have installed NAND WP7 then your micro sd card is incompatable with Windows Phone 7. Most kingston and sandisk cards seem to work but generic and other brands can have problems which match yours. Reformatting the card wont really help, you need to get a sandisk card (you can pick up a 16GB card for about £18 on ebay) and it should work fine.
Remember though that if you use a new micro sd card that you will need to reinstall WP7 via Magldr as once WP7 has been flashed it sets up the card you have in your phone in a special way and therefore you CANNOT hotswap cards after that.
Mark.

HI all. I am the OP and doing wp7 'hspl'/flasher/kitchen with other devs too; sorta know what I am doing (to a degree anyway, otherwise I pretend I know ).
Anyway THAT is what I am doing: it is being fixed at factory now: WARRANTY. No - they dont give out free phones - but 5 flashes story makes sense! I did this before even reading that post (told them did stock RUU many times). and yes, they should REPLACE your phone under warranty. also: no, not tmous and no, Sd card fine. Thanks for all response but tried everything mentioned here guys except 24 hours charge constantly. That I shouldve given a GO at least before sending in maybe. ???. Battery gets very HOT. (magldr!). battery pins are fine; done everything possible; incl task 28, 28 55aa, 29.
I even tried flashing with dwi.exe with 0kb partxx.bin files to 'clean' it as suggested here and even did task2a and recovered it with stock rom+spl (there are ALWAYS ways if you keep trying and never give up) and even done own JTAG!
Couldnt figure it out in the end as it just freezes/loops on DFT screen or ANY droid screen. Sometimes even reboots on SPL screen! dangerous hey!!!!!!!!!! (omg). even when watching cpu direct. ROM doesnt matter. multiple sd cards tried. either is BadBlocks, CPU, or contacts somewhere shorting maybe.
Ideas still appreciated PLEASE but they should replace it with new or at least new motherboard(+processor+ram) under oem warranty- thanks all. .

Thank you very much!!!
This works, but I didn't bother extracting the t-mos rom, I just installed it using the tmobile application that came with it.
I had 16gb sandisk (the one that came with the hd2) and I had no problems for 3 days. Before this I major problems pop up shortly after the first day.
Anyway, I just received my sandisk 32gb class 2, and I'm redoing all this hoping that it would work with this card as well.
Again Thank You!
Update: My 32gb class 2 Sandisk is running great!
Cheers!

How do I get my 16 GB memory card back...it now only shows 200 MB

I put WP 7 on my HD2 and it was working fine but I decided to go back to Android. I then took my 16 GB Sandisk card out and put it in the memory card reader but it only shows the partition of 200 MB.
I even download a program to format/partition the microSD card but I still could not get it to get back most of the available space in my 16 GB card. It keeps showing 200 MB on my computer and I tried to get rid of the partitioning but I still cannot do it.
Is there a solution to this?
sounds like your memory card is corrupted :/
Try
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/eula/
If that doesn't fix it, it may be borked completely.. though some people have had success with the Nokia phone formatting tools
Easy,
Put your SD Card in your PHone
POwer off you phone
During Boot hold power off/on button on phone to access the MAGDLR Menu
Connect you Phone to PC
Choose MASSSTORAGE in MAGDRL Option number 4
Format your SD CARD over PC
Power off Phone - Job done!
i had the same problem, the way the i fix it was the i format the sd card in my blackberry and it works for me i try it in a samsung and fix the problem. the computer wasnt able to fix problem i used the format method from the computer. didnt work, and i used paragon software didnt work either. the only way was with different phone
I don't know why everybody thinks you have to put the card into something else. Enter MAGLDR, go to USB, connect it to the computer, run SD Formatter,Select correct drive, Options - Format Type= Full Erase On -Format Size Adjustment =ON.
This has been covered many times since the introduction of WP7. Using the search term 200mb in this section. I came up with plenty of answers to your problem.

[SOLVED] Help: WP7 won't create a partition on my SD card.

I am trying to dual boot WP7 NAND and Android SD...
I am following the instructions this YouTube Video: HTC HD2 Partition a micro sd card to install Android and WP7 in the same card but I am stuck on the second part where you have to reset your phone and insert your SD card in the reader to see the WP7 partitions.
When ever I reset WP7, insert SD in reader, and open Partition Master, It only shows 200MB, it doesn't show the unallocated partition. Basically, when I insert the SD card, I only see One Partition, instead of Two partitions (fat 16 and unformatted)
Can someone please explain to me how I can solve this problem?
(I am using ScanDisk 8 GB class 2 sd card.)
PS: I have tried to search this forum extensively, but I couldn't find any answers (I am not sure what other search term to use at this point.)
UPDATE: If you are having problems seeing the WP7 SD partition on your computer, don't use an SD adapter with the built-in card reader on your PC or Laptop, use an external SDHC card reader instead. You can buy one on eBay for like 5 bucks or less, OR you could get one at your local electronics/hardware store for no more than $15.

So you do have 200meg AND Unformatted partitions ??
@1:22 it shows the Unformatted Partition being deleted which means it becomes unallocated..
You need to delete the Unformatted partition..
Then continue on with video..
i assume your using the tutorial from [REF] Tutorial: How to partition sd card to run wp7 and android from same sd card
and following the Third Method.
If you dont see an Unformatted Partition -(no idea why you shouldn't - if it an 8GB card there has to be something beyond the 200meg partition) i'd re-format the entire SD...and start again.
I have reformatted my SD card several times, using (SD formatter), but I keep getting the same results.
Like I said, I am only getting One Partition and that is the 200MB partition on my SD card, whenever I flash WP7 (even when I reset WP7, I get the same thing.) -- I am sure that I followed the instructions correctly, well, up to the point where I got stuck.
If anyone have any other ideas, please share...

Ok, so after a fresh format and before trying wp7 re-install you're getting an 8GB sd card right?
If yes - start again by reseting phone in wp7 with your sd card installed. (settings/about/reset your phone)
let it reboot back into wp7.
goto settings/about
What size do you see under:
Total Storage
It should list 7.xxGB (for your 8GB Sd)
If it doesn't its more than likely that you have an sd card not compatiable for wp7 sorry.
OK, now I see
Total storage: 7.20 GB
Available storage: 6.82 GB
Is this normal?

definitely - and a good sign.
do you have easeus partition installed on your pc, if not install it.
re-set your phone again and stop at the MAGLDR screen. (Hold Power button down)
remove SD and load into PC.
Open easeus partition.
You will see a 200Meg partition and a Unformatted partition....
Continue with Tutorial.
Sorry, for the late responses...I appreciate your patience.
OK, I just reset the phone again, and I have inserted my SD into my PC, and loaded easeus partition; BUT soon as I insert the SD, I get windows message that I need to format the disk in drive __: before I can use it.
Now, in easeus partition, all I see is one unallocated 200MB partition (logical)
Any idea what's going on here?

Well, at the very least that partition should be Primary and not logical...
sounds like a faulty sd card
In EaseUs partition delete all partitions under the sd list. (in pic below i'd delete all 4 partitions shown)
ie in your case the 200Meg and anything else listed (but only for the sd) dont want you deleting your windows OS.
Apply changes so you have one 8GB block of unallocated space and then try re-formating the sd card back to origional 8GB FAT32.
Apply changes...
remove and re-insert into PC, check and make sure windows doesn't report errors.
dump a few files onto the sd and try reading them. (pics or movie)
Providing all good to this stage, repeat re-set phone process..
reboot into wp7 and check /settings/about.... if 7.xxGB Total Storage, remove sd and check with windows... if errors like you just stated i very much suspect a faulty sd card...
If you can take a screen shot (sniping tool in windows 7) of the sd card listing the Disk it would help
like this

This is potentially what you want to end up with (mines a 16GB sd)
One final thing i would try is re-installing wp7 (DWI.exe from PC.)
(I'm running out of ideas due to my limited knowledge sorry)
Thanks, but it's getting late over here, so I'll give it a try and I'll get back to you later today or tomorrow (if time permits)
Again, thanks for your help...
I've given your suggestion a try, but no luck yet. I even tried it with my other SD card that is loaded with Android, but no luck. I think this may have something to do with my computer or something totally unrelated to my SD.
I'd really love to use WP7, while also having my Android.
So, If anyone else have any ideas, solutions, suggestions, please share.

well... you do have 2 sd cards i see, so worst case is you use one for wp7 and one for android.
Means you'll have to swap them out every time you want to change OS.. but it should work...
As WP7 loads into NAND you'll have to load an Android built that is SD MAGLDR compatible.
Hey, Canterbury
I found the problem and solution. The problem was with the built in card reader in my laptop. I guess it isn't powerful enough to read the WP7 partition or something; but anyways I found a solution. I used an external USB SDHC card reader to view the files on my SD instead. So now I can see all partitions on the SD
Thanks anyways for trying to help me. I really appreciate it.

Well actually, I have another problem...I don't have wp7 and android goodness; because I can't get DarkStone SuperRAM 1.5 to work with WP7, or any other build for that matter.
Do you have any build suggestions, or general ideas, about this issue?

I firstly assume your on one SD running WP7, and have partitioned your sd for android.
i use Cope's SD GB-CM7
As your using MAGLDR to boot, (instead of running wm6.5 and executing haret.exe) you MUST use an SD Android build that can support MAGLDR usually using a modified rootfs.img and startup.txt files. (Usually you'll have to copy and replace the two files manually)
Ref here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913964 regarding whats going on. If your a linux buff, the instructions may be of use, but further down the page is what you need...
Yeah, you know what? I tired Cope's SD GB-CM7, but GPS doesn't seem to work, and I really need that to work. It's a good build, but I want to be able to have the full android experience via DarkStone's SuperRAM froyo 1.5. So far, I have only been able to boot DS SR Froyo, but then it freezes and you can't do anything else. I guess I'll have to keep searching for clues, or I'll have to go back to dual booting WM/Android

[Q] MicroSD card Mount fail after format

First off let me say Thanks to all the developers and testers for their hard work. It gets a bit frustrating when you have few words to say but are unable to do so because you don't have 10 posts.
I started messing with my HD2 after noticing what a bs windows mobile 6.5 truly was. I was fortunate enough to find the scene the week nand rom flashing became the hot new way to "free" our devices.
Few weeks have passed since, and slowly below the radar, community has moved towards CWM roms. New sick way of customizing to your heart's content. Thanks to everyone involved in development of this sick tool.
Now back to original reason for this post. I am running CWM 1.3 on my Leo 1024 HTC HD2. The last rom I tested was Revolution HD v2.5 CWM. prior to this I have tested about 15 different roms. 100% success rate and no issues.
I am also running class 10 MicroSD 16 GB card from Kingston. After flashing so many times the card got a bit fragmented so I decided to do a format using Panasonic SD formatter v2.0. After the format was done, my card fails to read anything I put on it, from the CWM (when I try to install zip rom it gives me "failed to mount /sdcard (Invalid argument)" and "can't mount /sdcard".
At the same time If I mount USB storage from CWM when connected to my laptop, it comes up as external storage and I have full acess to cards contents.
What the hell did I do?
Sounds to me that you need to format it with an actual program like FDISK under Windows. Often times, programs that can format things for you have problems. Google for instructions on how to format your SD card via the Windows Command Prompt using the FDISK utility.
Thank you ashasaur, I'll give it a try!

Well, It seems problem was ID10T after all. Usually I am really good at paying attention to the details but this time it slipped by me...
It seems there is absolutely no issue with the Panasonic SD Formatter after all. The issue that followed after the attempted format of the MicroSD card was due to the wrong format setup.
I am posting proper instruction on how to format and avoid the NOOB situation I got myself into. This will also work for people that flashed WP7 and decided to go back to Nand, but tought SD card is ruined due to the WP7 protection mechanism.
Note: This will only work if your SD Card is atleast visible to your PC.
KEEP PHONE PLUGGED INTO YOUR PC THROUGHOUT THIS WHOLE PROCESS.
1. Reboot Phone and HOLD VOLUME DOWN KEY to enter BootLoader Screen (multicolor screen)
2. Download and flash MAGLDR 1.13. Reboot Phone
3. When phone is rebooting HOLD POWER BUTTON to enter MAGLDR Screen.
4. Go to OPTION 4. USB MassStg in MAGLDR.
5. Now Download SD Formatter 3.0 and install it.
*If your PC is not recognizing your SD Card go back to MAGLDR Main Menu by pressing the Power Button once and go to OPTION 10. RESET with phone still plugged in, and hold Power Button down while rebooting to get back to MAGLDR screen and select option 4. USB MassStg again. It should recognize it.
6. Open SD Formatter 3 and make sure your SD Card is being shown in the Drive Dropdown Box.
7. You can enter whatever Volume Label you like. Then click the OPTION BOX.
8. Select Format Type - Full Erase, and select Format Size Adjustment - On.
9. Then click Format and your SD Card should be reformatted and ready for use again.
It worked for me and I hope it works for others
*I didn't write these directions and as such I don't take credit for it. Directions were zipped with SDFormater3.0 (user didn't sign it). Thanks, however you are!

[Q] DVP LOCKED BY PASSWORD+CAN'T DO HARD RESET - Please HELP!

If You can be so kind and help me with THIS problem: I bought the phone with lock and wallpaper password (the seller keeps saying thtat knows nothing about it - I don't belive him - somebody had to set this password.) I cant find the way to reset this password to use the phone normally .
I tried to solve the problem by replaceing SD CARD but:
When i pull out 8GB original SD card out (SANDISK CLASS 4)- phone starts normally and doesn't ask about password. When i put the card in again -phone is locked again and what is more showing info that next possible try to enter the password is after 1690 minutes!!! I put in another SD card from my HTC HD2 (SAN DISK 8GB , CLASS 2) and have made a phone reset (trough menu).Than i made the reset witht pulling out battery during the screen turnes black during restart. It didn't help - the phone doesn't see this card and shows only 15,7 MB of space. Mybe I should buy another new SD card and try again with this one...? Any ideas? I dont what to do...Thanks

Thanks - but here is my answe-post on Your advise and continuation of my problems...
Well - I dont know if it makes sense or not but the facts are:
1. My phone starts and works without any sd card in slot - shows only 15,7 MB of memory then
2. If i follow the process You explained my phone does not go in to the process of hard/sof reset. I cant make him to go to any initial process/screen. By the way - after pulling out battery/replaceing sd/putting battery in - You mean the phone should automaticly contiuing this process of restart or i should turn power off ? Franlky saying i have to turn it on again because after puting battery in again nothong happens.
3. After restart situation is the same - phone didn't integrate system with SD card - shows only 15,7 MB of sapce
Any ideas what is wrong with it? Or mybe I am doing sth wrong?
Any other ideas of resetting this password and without replaceing oryginall SD CARD?

Ok....this is weird.
without an SD card, the memory should read around 408mb or so. So, what you're saying cannot b indicates something is not right. So, lets look at what is known:
1. SD card is not an interchangable item in WP7. If the device starts without a card. Then proceed without a card.
2. Stock memory without a card is around 400mb.
3. A hard reset and a soft reset are 2 different things. A soft reset, you can pull the battery. A hard reset will force you to set you device back up from scratch From what you describe, this is not happening.
So, step by step.
1. If your device starts without your SD card, pull the card and start your device.
2. On your device, go to Settings, then about, and choose reset your device.
3. Let the device rest, following any instructions on the screen. Eventually the device will reset, reboot, and ask you to set it up. Go ahead and log in with a Windows LIVE ID, but do not install anything else.
4. Once this is complete, go to Settings, About and read the memory setings. It should read about 400mb.
The device should now work. Does it?
If it does, then do this.
1. Go to settings, then about, and reset your device. Allow the device to begin to reboot.
2, While the screen is still black, pull the battery. Put the SD card. Put the battery back in, Start the device and allow the setup to continue.
3. Log in with a Windows Live ID and let the setup complete.
4. Go to settings, about, and look at the memory info. You should now see something like 15.9g instead of 15.7m.
If the first part does not work then something is wrong with the device. Most likely, no one here can help. You might have to call Dell for help...though there is little they can do.
let me know what happens...

I just thought of something else.....long shot. what if this is not an OS password but rather a SIM lock password or even a an unlock code required for a different sim in a branded phone?
Is your sim from TMOBILE?
Since you still haven't got this sorted, have you considered the possibility that the previous owner had an exchange account set up on the phone and that the exchange administrator mandated a password/strict security settings on the device?
That doesn't really explain why the lock remains after a wipe though....

His phone is not doing the things it should do. He claims he cannot hard reset it. So that makes me wonder about a few things.....but heck....he hasn't responded so maybe he got it working...
Hey guys. So I might have bought this phone off of eBay. So, now I'm stuck with it. A hard reset with the SD card out doesn't reset. I mean...it kind of does. If I change the theme color or save wifi passwords, I turn off the phone and turn it back on and all the settings are gone. It doesn't go through the setup, everything is just gone. A hard reset followed by a battery pull and new SD card doesn't work either. I think the hard reset just isn't working. I don't know how hard resets work, but seeing how the phone doesn't remember themes and wifi passwords (even the time and date...it resets to the default wrong time) when I turn it off and on, I don't think it can remember that it's supposed to do a hard reset when it turns back on after the beginning of the restart after I click "Reset". Again, I have no idea if that's even how hard resets work. Well...sorry that was long. Any ideas? Am I just stuck with a broken phone? I can get it in to "Download Mode". Can I install a ROM that way? Thanks!
Buy a new card, you can either go with the same card as the original Sandisk Class 4 8gb or buy a larger card.
Leave the original card in the phone and go to about > reset phone and reset it. Once the DELL logo appears take the battery out and put your new card in. Once that is done the phone will be reset fully.
This is the procedure when you replace the standard card included when you buy the phone off DELL.
I bought a new Venue Pro from Expansys and used this method to replace the included Sandisk 8GB card with a Sandisk 32GB card. Be careful about buying cheap 3rd party cards though.
Thanks for your reply, but the original SD has a password on it. A reset without the SD and a battery pull and a new SD should work the same way, right? The point is to get the phone all ready to reset the phone and when it turns off to restart and reset the phone, you pull the battery and put the SD in to trick it into formatting that SD, right? I figure it would work the same without an SD card. I think the problem is in the actual reboot process. The phone can't seem to remember that it's supposed to do a hard reset.
Pretty sure it should do, as long as it goes into the hard reset process then it should work the same as if there was a SDCard in it already.
Put the device into update mode by starting the phone with power + camera + vol down then use the WP7 Update Cab Sender to send the stock rom
Alright. Now we're getting somewhere. Okay. I found the stock cab for the Venue Pro. If I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1240455 this tool with that cab, will the phone be reset to its factory setting when I boot up? I am wondering if the PIN lock on the unlock screen will still be there after doing this. Thanks.
Well try it and find out.

Again, I have no idea if that's even how hard resets work. Well...sorry that was long. Any ideas? Am I just stuck with a broken phone? I can get it in to "Download Mode". Can I install a ROM that way? Thanks!

I almost bought that one a few weeks ago, but after doing some researching I found out the Dell Venue Pro is a little more resistant to being wiped than other WP7 devices, and I didn't want to risk having a phone I couldn't use. Apparently on most there's a key combo you can do to cause a reset on boot, but not on the DVP. On the DVP you have to start the hard reset with the SD it's expecting to be there. (which you can't do because of the password)
The one thing I found though that I thought had potential was this thread. If he posts the Lightning Service tools there I think those have a very good chance of resetting it for you if that other tool doesn't reset it for you.
