[Q] Super fast android - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi All
Where to find super-fast and fault-free android rom
For months, I follow
I can not have left the android applications
Windows Mobile applications, disgrace
Now follow the things that makes me sick
Are Sense, though not
Instead of judging me
Like the guy recommending ?
Do not write empty words, criticism, unnecessary things
I have a business life
and the need to android
My bad english sory (Google translate)
My HTC HD2 EU version Low Ram Low Rom
Sell my HTC ? and I take buy T-Mobile HD2 ??
For all unhappy brodhers...

Hi
The faster sd ROM I ever seen is the one from Dandiest v4.31.44.12 (quadrant score up to 2900)

I'm very happy with MccM MixTheme V1.1 HTC Sense.Iphone.ICS.Stable Miui base[GB 2.3.7]... Very fast, stable, almost perfect

Fastest I saw is AmericanAndroid,
But I didn't try the 2 others above.

At the last question, do not buy a T-Mobile HD2. Instead buy a larger SDHC (MicroSD) card, for increased storage and the T-Mo HD2 doesn't offer a significant RAM improvement. Finally, there is a larger risk of bricking a T-Mobile HD2, as you may accidentally flash an incompatible radio.

Hi Nigeldg
Are you sure
Collapsed in most of the T-Mobile
Why ?

Team 16GB Class 6 cards using But the boot is very slow and uneven
A friend of mine got the T-Mobile
T-Mobile Quick Boot
and My EU HTC HD2 Removed to Micro Sd cards, system halted stack owerflov

Apologies, but I don't quite understand what you mean. this is a quick summary of the differences between the two HD2 models, it shows that there are very few differences between them.

I don't think this is related to the model version of your HD2. Perhaps the ROM is different or he has a better SD card (class 2 can sometimes be faster than class 6). Hope this helps

Try tytung's gingerbread rom on nand. It should be fast and stable. It's reliable and it works which is probably what you want for business.

The US Model is much better for NAND due to the larger size. On my NRG ROM, it only works NAND on the US model; others have to use the SD card. And on my TMOUS, I have only about 150Mb RAM left after booting, so I personally like the extra 125mb that this model uses.

My (EU) HD2 installed to [4 Dec 11] [MULTILANG] Energy™ -.¸¸.·´¯ Sense 3.5 SensationXL! [Tweaks!] [RCMix ker]
and stable and quick but boot not quick and low ram
T-Mobile is broken, downgrade I've heard
yeah you think ???
I do not have much money
T-Mobile, with little money, the difference can be purchased at

You set your sys partions correctly and format sdcard and full wipe?

Why is that ?
Really ?
EU HD2 ? or T-Mobile HD2
This day I change my phone ?
My phone is EU HD2 and T-Mobile HD2 100$ difference
Sory my bad english

Don't change there is no need, only extra is memory nothing else. (Or so I believe) I have great belief that redux2 rom is the best and smoothest rom for the EU hd2 version 1.2 is my personal favourite only needing 60/5 partition lay out leaving plenty room for apps so no need for an ext partition on the SD.

The anz realy depends on ur need. If u r an office man, and not going to spend much time in tweeking and moding ur phone, i recomend u a sense based rom which is already tweeked and boosted. For now u should use android 2.3.xx rom, as they are heavely supported and updated.miui latest build is also nice. Stable and eyecandy like ios.
If u do much more than the above, u should go for cyanogen based 2.3.xx roms. Be ware cm roms are highly open for devs and includes much more things. They may / maynot be stable( depends on build versions).
Any way, applying a super charger script to any rom boost its perfomance several times..
send from my hd2 @ miui 1.12.2

I´m using Runnymede Sense 3.5 build from NRGZ28 and im happy with this rom.
it´s "sense" and very fast in my opinion.

While I've used most of the above, the most STABLE I've witnessed is still NexusHD of Nov 06. Its in-built tethering is solid (unlike the MIUIs which almost always require 3rd party apps), 3g data is most stable especially in areas with rather spotty service (in comparison with the present most recent MIUIs = Jaguaralani, MCCM, etc). Its battery consumption is zero when not in use and in flight mode; when limited to 2g it is consistently very low in consumption on standby (< 5percent in 8-9 hours). Records and views 720p vids but, just like the MIUIs, can't record for longer than about 14min.

U the best rom I have found it

because weather animation is wrong run.
Sory my bad english.

If you want a fast rom, try aosp/cm7. I would recommend nexushd2 and hyperdroid. Stable, fast and a good battery life

Yep, I agree. This is the fastest SD rom I have tried on my phone. Everything is working and you should have no problems with it whatsoever.

[Q] Thinking about taking the Android Plunge!

OK, after much patience and living with all the Windoze BS, I am considering re-flashing my HD2 to Android.
I currently run the Artemis ROM (Windows) and like it because all the bloatware crap that is usually in the ROMs has been removed and replaced with a miimal array of useful system features. That's what I look for in a ROM.
I know this question is frowned upon but I still need to ask... Considering my desire for a clean and fast minimalistic ROM, what are the best choices available in the Android world?
Thanks

look at hyperdroid or darkstone's new ram build, heard it was fast.
i used to be a fan of those fast builds but i tried mdj froyo hd build and im not looking back. sure its a little slower at times but i am a fan after the camera fix.
I think you will like hyperdroid butits kind of old ... anyhow I do recommend that you check any froyo builds since those seem to run much smoother and fluid then any sense I trie so far... waiting the 4gb card to start testing other builds but hyper paired with energy 2.5 gtx winmo rom ad 2.15.50.14 radio gives me great battery life (3-6mA) in standby of course.
Btw u cannot flash android on hd2 but put it on and run it from sd card... cheers and good luck

I am running the Nexus One HD2 build on my phone and it works amazing...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793924
At the bottom of the first post, the developer posted a spreadsheet of the combos that are working...
I have two HD2's and using different combos... Two recommendations
1) get an SD card that is Class 4 or 6... Stay away from Class 2 as they have been linked with issues
2) if you get it to work.. Dont mess it with it anymore. leave it alone, I have messed up so many times doing this.. if it's not broken, dont fix it.
Welcome to the hd2 android world! I bet you won't regret it.
Considering your choices (i was a long artemis user before), you have indeed the nexus one option, not sense builds. I prefer to use a third option, the miui roms. good new is that changing build is easy like changing a folder. Have fun!
It doesn't get anymore minimalist than darkstone's new SuperRam. He shrunk that system file down to 55mb to load it in a ramdisk. It's extremely fast and completely plain froyo. I'd give that one a go first if I were you. Nice thing about not having nand, you don't have to flash anything, you don't have to mess with your winmo one bit if you don't want to.
The other one you might try if you want a bit more bells and whistles is the HD2One Cyanogen 6.1 rom, it's more current than Hyperdroid. I think hyperdroid hasn't been updated for quite a while.

HD2 NAND builds vs. Native android devices

Okay so I had the HD2 at launch and quickly traded it after two months for a nexus and I am now using the Vibrant I love android have since my G1 I loved the size potential that the HD2 but couldn't look past winmo so I got rid of the phone my question is do the NAND ROMS run good enough to where I could consider switching out my vibrant for it??? While I love my vibrant there are a few things about it that I would change (like the fact it is made by samsung) please fill me in and let me know if it would be a good idea to make the switch

So far the only issue I have with my nandroid is small internal storage space. I run out relatively quickly. Otherwise it seems great. Even with the storage issue its way better than winmo. I guess you should try it for yourself. Another question is the battery. The only observation so far is that its better than it was with winmo out of the box.

I am running MDJ Gingerbread NAND and in settings-internal storage it reads over 800mb. I read other people complaining about internal storage but my phone doesnt seem to have this issue.
Other than that I have ZERO issues with the build on my phone (well except GPS, but that should be fixed soon) It is very speedy and has never locked up at all.
Highly recommended. Sell your Vibrant and make some cash
If you get the Tmous hd2, u'll be fine. That's the one u must have, OGmackPLRcool.

Speaking of battery life in terms of hours how many are you getting off of heavy use? My vibrant can usually get me about 10 good hours before going into the red and yelling at me for a charge im currently running Nero v2 rom with destroyer of worlds kernel clocked @ 1.3ghz (my quadrant score is retarded fast) what is the current max oc speed foe the hd2 of there are any and are there any gibgerbread ROMS or clones?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If your running a sd build and not nand you can overclock to 1.5. In battery I could get 50hrs with very light use and still have 10% left. That's on the regular battery too, not the extended one. With jdms build.
It depends on kernel for example with last kernel from m-deejay I can run up to 1.5 GHz on NAND.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
max speed is 1530mhz wit setcpu app on mdeejays desire hd build and its veeeery fast... i can run more than 15 hrs with speed clocked, now testing it wit setcpu turned off-26h and have 51% battery left, but its moderate usage (15-20 calls, some 10-15 messages and mail check here and there)
battery seems to be even better than winmo on it by the way,i have tmous hd2
Now that Nand is here I don't think I'll get rid of my HD2 for a long time. The way I see it, the builds will keep getting better and better. If I had an Android device I'm not sure I would get an HD2 tho but I can say if I got rid of this I'd miss it cause of the ability to switch builds so easily. One day I can have a Sense build, an HD Sense build, the MyTouch 4G build or plain Froyo (and now Gingerbread). Thats one thing I don't want to lose lol.
I got to say tho, my wife has a MyTouch 3G and I better data on mine and just tethered our laptop to watch an hour of Robot Chicken so its pretty much now an Android device lol.

mdj gingerbread works almost perfect for me. well, usb storage still not working, but that's going to be fixed i guess. battery is fine, 3mA while in standby and 150-300 when active. no lags at all, no wake up lag, data works fine
no need to buy a new phone for the next years, seriously
I'm in the same boat, I'm suppose to be trading my Samsung vibrant for an hd2 tomorrow, but I wasn't to sure if the nand builds could be as good as a regular android phone, but as someone said, I like the idea of switching builds so easily, and builds can only get better, while Samsung hasn't even release Froyo yet, so I doubt this phone will get Gingerbread, while the hd2 has it already.
Yes I know I can flash a custom rom, but It's just the fact that it isn't officially out yet.
Something i'm worrying about though is that I backed up all my apps via Titaniumbackup, and since it has low internal Storage with the Nand builds, I don't think I will be able to retrieve all my apps, which would be a huge bummer.
As smooth as it is, I have trouble believing that even my NAND HD2 would be as fast as a GalaxyS device with the filesystem fix.
But it's a lot cooler and has a better community.

You don't want to flash a custom Rom to your vibrant because its not official, but you're ok doing it with the hd2? You realize none of the hd2 Android builds are official, right?
I have nand Android on my hd2 right now, and It's definitely not as fast as a teamed galaxy s series phone, and battery isn't as good. Unless you're gonna make some extra money, or you want the hd2 for winmo or wp7 when its released, I wouldn't trade your vibrant or galaxy s for it. A native android phone will probably always be able to run Android better once they're properly teamed... and will definitely have better battery life.

I'm running the CM6.1 from NAND on my HD2 and it runs snappy and fast as hell, it's very stable with NO issues, and I can finally get power management like a native Android device. Not only this, but I have a global UC to 600mhz to get even better battery and am experiencing very minimal lags, so I would just hang on to this set-up over a Vibrant any day because for me it runs just as well with more ROMs, soon ability to run Android and WM6.5.5 from SD, and WP7 as well,
To me it's a no brainer HD2 > any other phone on the market.
Especially because I have 1GB ROM so I'm sure soon I will be able to run CM and WP7 from NAND on different partitions with no problems, just boot into MAGLDR and tell it which OS to boot, then launch NRG ROM from SD if I want that WM6.5.5 experience

Where do you hear that it's going to be possible to boot winmo from sd card? If that's true, it would be great, but unless you heard it directly from cotulla, I doubt that it's gonna happen. I hope it does, though, because not having winmo and the ability to boot multiple os's is what's gonna keep me from using magldr permanantly. I'm playing around with nand android right now, but in its current state, it takes away what makes the hd2 special to me and makes it just another android device.
come to think about it, I'm not sure where I got that from, but even if it's not possible, booting WP7, Android, and WM6.5 from MAGLDR will be possible, we'll just have to figure out the right configuration, having 1GB ROM helps a lot.

As for battery life I will get a full day easily with normal use. If I was conservative probably 2 days.
Sell the Vibrant and HD2 it up!!
I have had Android 2.2.1 with gingerbread bits on my HD2 since 12-31-10 when that $hit launched and I must say it is quick and stable as hell!! I have only had one issue with my data connection but I created a new apn and have had zero problems with it! I was using a Mytouch slide and I will use this HD2 until it is ran into the ground and then go get another one and do it all over again! The HD2 is the best phone in my opinion because of all the shista you can do with it! Get that 6.5 wm crap off of it and you are set!

Gingerbread is so fast compare to Froyo, you would not believe it?
But Gingerbread has no sense (except sense theme from Mccm), has no Internet passthrough and some apps do not work with it. SPBTV 2.0 is an example for me.
This is my point of view.
I will never come back to Froyo.
I am Magldr, WP7, Mccm GB v2.1. THE BEST!
Why there is NO CLEAN SD/MAGLDR BUILDS of Gingerbread, without sense, CM mod etc...? Each avaliable 2.3 build is customized and very unoriginal Hope the situation will change...

check out AmeriCanAndroid.
it's a SD build, clean, based on CM7 Gingerbread, 2.3.3 to be specific. And is natively built as a Leo, not another device as is common amongst HD2 builds.

Well in my experience, Gingerbread is extremely fast, true, but Froyo is not bad and very stable. The best i tried for froyo was
[Dec 10][SD] NexusHD2-FRG83D V1.8 (PPP + RMNET) [Kernel: hastarin r8.5.3_oldcam], and i got very used to it, all my apps works well and fast enough. gaming (emulators, ps snes genesis n64...), all programs (social, productivity, work...) basically all the apps. My first real jump to gingerbread after many hesitation due to reading the forums was a month ago i tried with CM7 then another stock like (can't remember which one , sorry!), lots of hiccups and incompatible with many apps I loved and can't live without, don't get me wrong they were good but, from my point of view, coming from all the goodies in froyo did not beat the speed gingerbread offered. So i went back to froyo again using [DL Desire v4.32][Sense Re-Engineering with RAM][Always FASTER], which is blazing fast but lags some times (best quadrant score i've seen in all roms i've tested).
So my 2 cents is that it really depends on the user. I would absolutely go 100% gingerbread with AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB233 CM7|bkup2sdext234 [KERNEL:AmCanAndroid r3.06], because this is the best I have tested very fast stable and all that you can get from gingerbread on your HD2, however not compatible with my favorite apps. So until I can work around those, Froyo is still my best option and there are very decent one out there with good tweaking options (setCPU...). Choices choices Gingerbread vs Froyo means to me Speed vs Compatibility, hopefully we can get best of both world soon.
NB: I am talking about SD only, no MAGDLR or Ram as I have seen no real difference running SD or Ram in terms of speed or battery or at least not very noticeable, So I like to keep my WM around just in case since i tend to go crazy on all the options offered so in case of android crash and urgency i can boot back and respond fast on my weak but trusty WM.

Try [27.FEB][DFT/CWM] NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.3 [Android2.3.2][Kernel: tytung_r6]. Clean, fast ROM without any extras
I bought my hd2 on ebay and had to flash it back to 6.5 because of a password problem. I really like my phone but I did like the android. I have been reading hundreds of pages and there is just too much information to get through.
I would like to put android back on my phone but how do you figure out which version is the best? For me it needs to be simple. I am an old lady. I want to put it on and never have to mess with it again. Will some nice person help this old lady across the street.

The only way to truely tell which rom is the best one for you is if you test them out yourself. We can tell you which one works best for us but it won't really do any good.
Check out the thread below it breaks it down to different types of android roms..

@Stormynights
Hi I'd advise you to have a look at darkstones SD roms particularly the sense-less build (I'll edit post with link and name later, I forget it now).
It's very fast, simple to set up. I have been using it ever since I first tried it, about 6 weeks ago. Rock solid and very clean and lovely to use it's well worth a look.

Here are the two best Android builds for your HD2 (please get that crappy Windows 6.5 off of your phone at once)
Froyo 2.2 with Sense (ALOT LIKE 6.5 ONLY ANDROID)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915159
Gingerbread 2.3.3 (VERY FAST AND STABLE BUT SOME APPS DON'T WORK)

[Q] Help choosing NAND ROM

Hello guys,
I bought brand new HD2 and want to replace W6.5 with 2.3.4/Sense 3.0, NAND(been told SD installs are quite slow).
But I`m struggling choosing build - there are SO many, I`m totally confused.
This page lists all of them, but which one I should go for?
android.hd2roms.com
I don`t need any special features, mods, fancy stuff - just original 2.3.4 with Sense 3.0.
Please advise
Ta
It is not possible to get Gingerbread 2.3.4 with sense, only 2.3.3. Also, I don't wish to confuse you but SD installs are far from slow. In fact, many people say that MccMBoxMax GS (SD gingerbread with sense) is faster than NAND builds. I would advise you not to use Gingerbread+sense for a while as there are loads of annoying glitches, mostly graphic but also the power menu doesn't work and third party apps need to be used for some things. Try AmeriCanAndroid (SD) it is extremely fast but has no sense, stock gingerbread.
Thanks Nigel.
Ok, then 2.3.3 with Sense 3.0 - does it exist?
I looked on some screenshots of modified builds - some look quite terrible with kiddy graphics, hence I`m looking for most stock version without heavy mods.
Hi, i have just installed "Pyramid HTC Europe 1.35.401.1 - Real 3D V1.5" which is gingerbread 2.3.3 & sense 3.0, has some graphics glitches but runs fine, look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075703
There are plenty, just search the forums. Anything with 'Kingdom' included in the title has Sense 3.0, and there are a fair few ROMs with Sense 2.1 with parts of 3.0 (e.g. lockscreen, widgets etc.). I personally don't use NAND roms and have never tried sense 3.0, so I couldn't recommend anything.
You Should Try CoreDroid

Its cool

Nigel,
If you have to recommend, what would you prefer? I know for a fact NAND isn't as fast as SD, and no Sense 3.0 due to graphic glitch.
I have the 1024MB HD2, not the Euro version, which is 512MB, and willing to try the SD Android. I've been in NAND, but always come back to WinMo 6.5 because NAND always gives me crap. Never really tried SD Android, but since there's a person, such as you, who's recommending SD Android, which is the most stable, and fast? Just looking for ROM, doesn't matter if it has Sense or not, just stable with minimal to NO flaws.
Thanks!!!!!!
Well, seems that there is no 100% stable Android version for HD2. Just have to buy Sensation then.

LOL man! Search the threads in HTC HD2 sub-forums and you will find very very good Roms for daily use! No need to buy a sensation! Flash your 1st NAND rom and then you will be a flashaholic like the rest of us!
I can assure you that Android on HD2 is faaaaaaar better than the Android on the official devices!
That's why XDA exists; To make things even better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then the questions still stands open - is there a 100% stable/glitch/bug free 2.3.3 with Sense 3.0?
a lot of the sence 3 builds are still a little on the buggy side so if you dont want sd roms because they are slow you might find sence 3 roms annoying as well. no sence 3 ROM is 100% bug free. this website will list all the android roms on xda both for sd and nand. it also will list if its sence or not and is a great site to grab your roms from...really it links you back to XDA but its easier to scroll through. i personally like the ANIMATED SENSE ROM. if you want a great fast but not sence 3 nand ROM i would go with RAFDROID and BLUETOPIA HD is a great starter ROM as well. though what i like and want on my phone you may hate so i would really suggest you try each of them out for yourself. keep the ones you like best on your sd card if you have room that way anytime you need a change just flash over a new ROM.

no and there are no roms that are 100 percent stable/glitch/bug free
go buy the sensation and be even more disappointed
this thread is just the same as all the other which is the best rom threads
its disgusting that no one seems to be able to search and read
anymore
everyone wants thier hand held and everything handed to them

How stable is android on the hd2?

Hello, my wife has a sidekick 4g that she absolutely hates and has gotten an offer to trade for an hd2. My question is, the person says it is running 2.3.5. How stable is android on the hd2? If I tell her to trade and it sucks, I will be in the doghouse! Also, if I can convince her to give windows phone 7 a shot, how does that run? I can do the searching later to find out how to boot between the two, but is it pretty risky/hard? I've rooted and rom'd every android phone I've owned but something about winmo. Makes me nervous. Thanks!

I agree. Just make sure the touch screen works they are infamouse for them breaking. The phone is easy to root and nearly every rom on xda runs perfect on this phone
I've had my HD2 for 2 years now, and I knew nothing about rooting etc. It took me a whole day to learn, but now I can easily switch ROMs within half an hour max.
I've tried multiple Android ROMs (SD and NAND) and a WM7 ROM before the mango update, and everything works incredibly smooth and fully-functional. It's actually even better than the original Windows Mobile OS, so I'd highly recommend giving it a fiddle! Trust me, you can't really go wrong if you follow all the right advice (stickies have all the good stuff!)
Once you get going I think you'll really love the variety of builds and find one that you're comfortable with. Enjoy!
Awesome! Thanks guys, sounds like its a go then! I may even be wanting one for myself!

Well it all depends on which rom/settings/tweaks you use but in general Android is more stable and runs better on the HD2 then most native Android devices!

You dont "root" the HD2.
I'm using CM7_Tweaked-2.0.0-LEO and radio 2.15.50.14. I would not describe it as very stable and I cannot get the radio to do 3g or H. Perhaps my expectationa are too high and I'm sure it is more stable on Android than Windows, but I am not happy with it.
I have the same problem. would like to update my Leo by Android but I do not know what is the best ROM to do that in terms of stability, display errors and energy management? I was using 2.3.5 NAND version which had quit a lot of bugs. Now I'm back on WM
Android on the hd2 in my opinion runs better on this device than some devices that are launched with it.
Load up NexusHD 2.3.7 and you or your wife won't look back.

Well you are not going to find out unless you try them. Also "2.3.5. NAND" means absolutely nothing as that isnt rom specific, that is just a version number of Android OS.
In my experience the most stable version without needing tweaks/extra setup etc is the NexusHD2 roms by tytung (Froyo) and (Gingerbread) and they are as close to stock Android as you will get.
I am addicted to trying new roms though and have started to really like the MIUI based roms but am currently testing the new NexusHD2 ICS base.
HD2 forever ...
I have an EU and a from about 2 month a TMOUS:
- EU with MIUI 2.37a stable ... hard daily use, it rocks!!!
- TMOUS to try other roms with sense (big internal space required, i hate app2sd ) and tried 3 different version of ICS for now without any problem!!!
I have thought about changing them for a real android but ... i love modding ... so no chance for other model for now
A quick reply? Buy a TMOUS
Cheers
Roms
Since you have tried many different roms, have you found a sense 3.5 that can play 720p video? Mwakious 3.5 does not
HD2 was build for Android, delivering it with WM6.5 was a joke!
