But it lags!

if you just know how to tweak a stock rom it can last up to 7 days without charging,
even with stock kernel,
its all trial and error,
learn to test out your phone,
its a good start to learn something new
My above mate already told you and Noone can tell you better than yourself so please try and use
Peace
Hit Thanks & It will Disappear

stock rom
its true apart from posting here and asking others opinion you can try to customize your system according to your need.
i tried almost all rom but it seems that stock rom with some modification is best for for me.

7days?????grt but is it with all your daily activities or just standby?i got max 3 days
I opened this thread so people would stop asking the best rom and kernel combinations . So feel free to post the combination you use for daily, gaming, battery life or whatever ....
I´m currently on Viper Xperia v3 with Vengeance 1.32 Kernel. Works good but i think i´ll go back to jellybean cuz of the smoothness. It would be so nice if the camera would make better pictures on CM10 - thats the only thing which brought me back to ICS.
(my configuration on jelly bean was latest FXP Cm10 with LuPuS JB Kernel. Also works like a charm )
this is my first post on XDA. Looking forward to have 10 posts so that i can post in the Dev section :silly:
There is a sticky at the top of Q&A that is supposed to stop "best ROM" threads and equally annoying variations of them. Not worked so far though.

You said it yourself, sticky at top of Q&A. This is the general discussion forum! Some of us have a life and don't have time to read through all threads and search function doesn't always show these threads! :silly:

My current Rom and kernel combo is new Zelly Cream Rom with Rush v.10 kernel! Best ICS/JB. combo I have found yet for great look and daily use Still no good for high performance, HD games though! For that I use X-gamer Rom with Doomkernel advanced stock v.22! Both .62 GB based.:highfive: No game f.c's or lag for Dead Space etc. etc!
Each person is going to have a different experience on ROMs. All of the info you need for each ROM will be posted in each respective thread, all it takes is a little bit of reading and testing to find the best for each person/apps loaded/usage

Hello!
I'm now running PA 3.99 with Franco Kernel.
I saw Trinity Kernel and wanted to try it.
Who is better for battery life?
How should I install Trinity?
I noticed that there are some instructions but didn't got it fully .
Thanks in advance!

best would be to reinstall your rom(without wiping anything) and trinity kernel, but flashing trinity on top will work as well(dont wipe anything).

Great, Thanks!
please avoid comparing kernels, ROMs, ....
every kernel is "best" in something.

First off, yes I have read this in the original kernel post
8. My Wi-Fi is borked, doesn't turn on, haz gray bars, drains battary and killed my parrot. Fix plz."
A: This Kernel has stock Wi-Fi drivers, same as stock Kernel. The problem is YOU and YOU alone. Probably installed some wtf Kernel with some wtf Wi-Fi drivers. News flash, fix your derp and stop spamming this thread with nonsense. By the way, gray bars only means you're not connected to Google servers, but your Wi-Fi works just fine.

But this is not my actual problem, I guess.
My Nexus 4 kernel history. I only used stock or franco kernel, no other kernel whatsoever.
With Android 4.4 I got back to 100% stock, complete wipe, using the "nexus root toolkit" (Back to Stock (Flash Stock + Unroot)).
The only change to my device, rooting it, apart from that 100% stock.
With 4.4.3 I decided to try franco kernel again, it was either r201 or r209, not sure anymore.
I haven't used the fraco app for a long time. The last time I used it was when there was still a beta and a stable kernel option.
Anyway, I installed franco kernel, and my WiFi issues started, but not like mentioned by franco.
So what's the issue?
Kernel installed, phone is booting, all looks fine, WiFi is connecting, all good.
As soon as I leave the WiFi area, the problem starts. The WiFi menu doesn't show any WiFi, just searching for WiFi.
When I try to turn WiFi off, the button moves to the left, but will remain black and nothing happens.
When I close and reopen the WiFi menu, WiFi button is still on "on" and WiFi is searching.
A complete phone reboot is fixing the problem, WiFi works just fine, until I leave my WiFi area again, this is also happening with any other WiFi, at Work, at my Friends house, at Starbucks, just any WiFi.
As soon as I flash Stock Kernel back, with the "nexus root toolkit" (advance options, flash stock kernel) WiFi is working fine again, all problems solved.
Today I tried again, but now with Android 4.4.4 and r210.
I have the same issue again, exactly the same.
For now I am back to stock again, but I would like to use franco kernel.
Is there anything you can thing off, that went wrong?
What could I try to fix the issue?
Thanks for help in advance,
MiLeX
This is the exactly same issue that I had on hellscore kernel. By any chance, are you on a custon rom? Cm11 maybe?
I couldnt find any solution for that, so I stick with matr1x kernel. No problems and I am happy ever after I also think stating that this is the users problem is quite rude. I mean, what is a kernel after all if only a few people can use them? And the other question is why do others kernel work and this one not?
However, try matr1x kernel and see what happens
so you've flashed stock ROM, then Franco kernel, and then r210? And no WiFi? What was the last ROM (and android version you used)?
In the nexus root toolkit, did you have "don't wipe during flash" enabled?
Are you flashing boot.img or installing zip?
What recovery?
Edit: nvm I read more details and don't anwer the questions you answered in OP

On CM11 it simply won't boot, and the colours would be borked.

I used to have the same issues with Neo kernel (oh the good old days) on my Nexus 4, but the only difference was the issue would start randomly at any circumstance. Are you undervolting or anything? Any custom WiFi manager like Chainfire's Pryfi?

There is a version of hellscore for cm. And it is official, since it can be downloaded from the official site.

The guy is asking about Franco kernel. He stated that Franco kernel is all he uses.
@ RealSlimShadyMC
@ CCody
I use 100% stock 4.4.4 no custom rom whatsoever.
I used to have AOKP, but that was only until 4.3. With Kitkat (4.4) I went back to 100% stock, no changes, stock everything.

I can read
I just wanted to mention that I have the same issue and also with a custom kernel. And since hellscore and franco kernel isnt that different, (I think they use the same compiler and codes) OPs issue isnt unique.
However, if you have any solution for that, I also would be glad to hear them. [emoji106]

I come to think it is caused by the android version.
Would you mind testing something out for me? Flash the following kernel: matr1x and hellscore. If hellscore didnt work, I am sure it is a kernel issue and you could do nothing about it

Can you:
backup everything with NANDroid, then flash a custom ROM (any, as long as it's AOSP)
then franco kernel

I just installed the Hellscore Kernal Manager, its only offering two a 4.4.3 Kernels. b47-kk 4.4.3 and b47-CM.4.4.3.
As the Kernel is not for 4.4.4 I would expect issues. Well I do know there is barely a difference from 4.4.3 to 4.4.4. but anyway.

nope, no issues. Ignore. there was no new kernel source with 4.4.4 so they're the same kernel wise
Hello, fellow defy owners,
I've got an MB526 with CM11 and the 2.6 kernel, OC'ed to stable 1.3Ghz.
I rely on my phone for phone calls, permanent data connection, as well as online/offline GPS navigation. I can live without video recording.
Can I use the 3.0 Kernel as a daily driver? I read somewhere that magnetometer is not working (a few months ago), isnt that used for GPS?
Also, I read that OC is not implemented in the latest kernel, but 1.1Ghz can be enabled. Would 1.1Ghz w/ 3.0 be faster than 1.3Ghz w/2.6?
Yeah, I know I should get a new phone, but with all the features/tweaks I have on my defy , it would be a downgrade more than an upgrade, honestly, so I'll probably keep it for 1 or 2 more years.
Should I upgrade to the 3.0 Kernel? Any feedback is appreciated!

i think the kernel 3.0 still raw and is not suitable for daily use. my recently experiments were versions 201409XX or earlier.
---------- Post added at 02:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:57 PM ----------
yet. kernel 3.0 is still on the old version of partitions. and it makes it not interesting at this stage.
